It's a beautiful day in Mexico, especially in modern Puebla that's grown into a larger city from being a small village, a seventeen-year-old girl is just getting ready for school.

The girl in question is named Teodora Villavicencio, who had just finished getting dressed in her favorite outfit, a short and simple pink skirt circled with a white belt, a pink shirt that matches her skirt with a lavender jacket along with pink and white high-heeled boots.

Teodora was now putting her long orange-red hair into a ponytail which was now covered by a pink ribbon that she decided put the whole look together. "Okay, first day at my new school. It's going to be great!" Teodora said as she psyched herself up.

It had been a month since Teodora had woken up from her coma and after that her parents had decided to move the whole family to the city of Puebla in Mexico since their old home in New York had been too dangerous to live in and while the city was large, it was known for its rich culture and history.

"Teo, time for breakfast!" Mr. Villavicencio called to his daughter; she sighed in sadness since the move had been a big change for her. "Coming, Dad!" Teodora called back, she grabbed her backpack and headed to the kitchen to get some pancakes that her father had made.

"A special breakfast to get your school day started." Mrs. Villavicencio said with a smile, Teodora had to wonder how her parents could be so perky in the morning. "If you say so, Mom." Teodora replied before taking a bite of her food for the morning before getting her lunch box.

"Excited for the school trip today?" Mr. Villavicencio asked Teodora, his daughter paused mid-bite. "I guess, but a history museum might be boring." Teodora responded as she rolled her eyes, both her parents smiled as they assured her that she'd have lots of fun learning about the history of Puebla.

Teodora doubted that but didn't say anything as she waved to her parents then headed for school where her classmates waited their turn to get on the bus since field trip would get them out of class the whole day, so they were being way too annoying before they calmed down since their teacher showed up.

The teacher went over the usual school trip rules with the class as they left the school and made it to the Puebla history museum. "Everyone is to stay together now." The tour guide said as he led the students and teacher through the museum while teaching the students about their city's history.

Teodora tried to pay attention to what was happening but found it much harder as she ended up watching a fourteen-year-old boy who for some reason was wearing clothes from the 19-century messing around with one of the exhibits along with a girl who looked to be a year younger than herself.

Both the boy and girl were having so much fun messing around with the exhibits that it made Teodora wonder why no one else saw what they were doing until the three suddenly made eye contact with each other leaving the boy and girl shocked that someone had seen what they were doing.

"Why're they so surprised that I caught them?" Teodora wondered to herself, the boy and girl floated, actually floated over to Teodora. "Can you see us?" The boy asked in disbelief, Teodora nodded silently as her teacher and classmates were nearby where the three were at.

"She must have the ability to see us." The girl said with a small smile, Teodora glanced around, but no one else seemed to notice the boy and girl just her evidently. "Who are you?" Teodora asked them with a low voice since she didn't want anyone to hear her talking to the boy and girl.

"I'm Leo San Juan." Leo replied with a smile, the girl next to him went next. "I'm Marcella, nice to meet you." Marcella added on, Teodora was still wondering why she was the only one to see Leo and Marcella when two old men came over, one was dressed like a friar while the shorter one was dressed like conquistador.

Not to mention that some rainbow-colored creature showed up at the same time the old men did. "Leo, Marcella. What did I say about disappearing during our lessons?" The friar said sternly, the two groaned as they apologized for sneaking away from their teacher.

By now Teodora was dumbfounded by the fact that no one else noticed these four strangely dressed people or their weird pet. "Egad! It's not polite to stare you know." The conquistador chided Teodora, that got the attention of the friar and the creature as they both just now noticed Teodora.

"Who is this young lady?" The friar asked Leo and Marcella, just before they could answer the question, they paused. "We never got her name." Marcella replied sheepishly as the creature inspected Teodora, the inspection made Teodora uncomfortable in many ways.

"I bet her name is, Sally!" The creature said with a dopey smile, Leo and the others looked at each other before Teodora could correct it, her teacher called out. "Teodora! It's time for lunch!" The teacher called to her and the rest of the class as they headed to the cafeteria.

"Gotta go, bye!" Teodora said as she ran to rejoin her class, the five watched her go in a speedy manner. "Teodora, huh?" Leo said as he tried out her name, the group liked now knowing what her name actually is even if some else had said her name and not her.

"That girl has the ability to see us." Marcella told the three newcomers; they all fell into deep thought before they all came to the same conclusion. "Teodora might be able to help us lift the curse." The friar said as he rubbed at his beard, Leo and Marcella had the same idea as the conquistador and creature smiled at that.

"Our thoughts exactly, Godofredo." Leo replied before picking up the exhibits that he and Marcella had been messing with a couple of minutes earlier. "But will she help us? That's the question." The conquistador asked while trying to spot Teodora in the cafeteria.

"I'm sure she will if we ask nicely." The creature spoke up, Marcella had seen the freaked-out look that Teodora had in her eyes. "We can only hope so, Alebrijie, but it wouldn't hurt to ask her Don Andres." Marcella responded to both of her friends while helping Leo.

The five decided to follow Teodora but didn't bother her while she was with her classmates during the field trip, however once that was over and it was time to go home, all bets were off as they followed Teodora back to her house in order to talk with her.

However, Teodora didn't like that she had four people and their pet following her home, so that's when she came up with the idea to shake them off by using her own abilities of music and dance, which she had taken lessons in since she was little.

So, on that note, Teodora stopped walking making the others stop as they watched her turn on some music. "What is she doing?" Leo asked his friends, none of them knew the answer, but were about to get it as Tedora turned towards them just as the must started.

[Play You Can't Catch Me from Elena of Avalor]

[Tedora]

If I, were you I'd turn around

You'll never lay a scratch on me

I'm far too fast by leaps and bounds

Try as you may

You can't catch me!

(Music)

Now you see me

Now you don't

Think you'll blast me?

No, you won't

I'll wrap you up from head to toe

And top you with a leafy bow, oh

Towns will crumble

Trees will rise

Right before your very eyes

You really are no match for me

You may try, but you can't catch me

No, no, no

You can't catch me

Think you got me?

Think again

For this jungle is my life-long friend

So, if you're smart, you'll let me be

Before you plow into a tree, see

Towns will crumble

Trees will rise

Right before your very eyes

We'll start anew quite naturally

You may try

But you can't catch me

I'm too sly

You can't catch me

So, wave good-bye

Cause you can try

But you can't catch me

Don't you see?

You can't catch me!

At the end of the song, Teodora took out her earbuds as she panted and looked around. "Don't see those five creeps, must've lost em'." Teodora said with a satisfied smile, she then made it back to her house before bumping into the rainbow-colored creature from earlier.

"There you are! We thought we'd lost you!" The creature said as Teodora looked up at him alarmed, Leo and the others then appeared behind Teodora. "Why'd you run off?" Leo asked with a frown on his face, only Marcella could see that Teodora was starting to breath more shallowly.

"We must speak with you right away." The conquistador added as he hovered over Teodora, she tried to crawl backwards away from him only to bump into the creature again. "Are you alright, my dear?" The friar asked in concern as Teodora's breathing got faster and faster.

"Back up and give the girl some room!" Marcella snapped at her four companions, she then turned to Teodora who was currently trying to calm her breathing. "It's okay, we just want to talk to you." Marcella spoke gently to the older girl as she'd finally gotten her breathing under control again.

"T-talk a-about w-what?" Teodora asked with a stutter, the group of six went inside of the house, and into the living room where they could talk after Godofredo, Don Andres and Alebrijie introduced themselves at last while Teodora, Leo and Marcella sat down on the sofa.

"We'll start from the beginning." Godofredo said as he began the tale, the friar told Teodora about he and his friends were cursed to remain in the land of the living after stopping a demon from trying to take over the world and rewriting history, only for them to end up being cursed.

Throughout the centuries, the five friends have been searching for someone who could see them in order to help break the curse, so they can finally crossover into the land of the remembered, but the person who could see them had to willingly help them out.

"So, just because I can see you, doesn't mean I'm the one you're looking for." Teodora said slowly hoping the ghosts and Alebrijie would leave her alone. "Yes, you are!" Leo said as he shot Teodora a look of disbelief, his friends nodded in agreement with him.

"Finding someone with your ability to see us is a lot harder than finding a way to break the curse." Don Adres added, Teodora just blinked at them. "You either help us, or we'll just stay here and haunt you forever!" Leo said with a smirk on his face.

Teodora freaked out again before fainting onto the floor. "Nice going, Leo!" Marcella responded as she smacked the back of his head. "Ow! Sorry." Leo replied in pain, Godofredo and Don Adres began to scold Leo for needlessly scaring Teodora.

Meanwhile Alebrijie carefully picked up Tedora off of the floor before following Marcella upstairs to where they put Teodora on her bed after they had found her room. "Let's let her rest while we regroup." Marcella told her colorful friend as he nodded in understanding before they rejoined the others.

First chapter done! I don't the song in this chapter or the characters as the characters are from Legend Quest: Masters of Myths, a Netflix original series.
