Hello! I am back and bringing you another Chapter. Again Reviews are appreciated. I like to know what you guys think of the chapter I wrote also just your thoughts on the story in general.
Also I have some notes at the end that I would appreciate you to read along with a question as well.
( A Couple weeks after the talk with Skylor)
It's been a couple weeks and Alex's days have gone by like normal. Except for that one time someone tried to rob the noodle shop. To put it bluntly Skylor and Cole who were there at the time kicked their ass. Speaking of Cole, Alex had gotten to know the ninja better quite well. Since he came to the noodle shop twice a week. He still teased Alex about their first meeting every time he came by ,but all good things must come to an end.
Alex knew the day would come. He knew he would eventually face this problem. He would have to deal with it and hope he is strong enough. The day he would face his greatest enemy.
Sickness.
Currently Alex felt and looked like shit. It was Monday and he knew that he was in no shape to even think about going to the museum. His body was simultaneously too cold yet too hot. His throat felt as dry as the Sahara desert and his nose was more clogged than his toilet after Mexican food. He had a headache that was borderline a migraine. The worst part was he had no medicine to make himself feel better at all.
To summarize Alex wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. He had already called Krux an hour ago to tell him he was in no condition to work today and Krux hearing his scratchy and raspy voice didn't argue at all and said he hoped he felt better and that he would take care of tonight.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Alex was on edge immediately. He wasn't expecting anyone at his apartment right now. He got out of bed and even though with each step his head pounded like someone was hitting it with a hammer he crept towards the only weapon he had in his room.
A broomstick.
With this mighty weapon he would slay whoever was at the door. Which was probably an enemy since the area he lived in wasn't exactly known for being a great neighborhood. He approached the door with the intent to attack whoever was at the door.
Alex then flung the door open ready to attack and his already abysmal mood sank even more. It seemed like the universe just really wanted to screw with him today. He sadly recognized the person at the door and wished he could still attack her.
It was Misako.
She stood there with a box looking completely bewildered and also slightly amused at the scene in front of her.
" Special delivery with medicine for you." Misako said. " Though with how ready you are to attack me I would assume you are well enough to not need them." She was teasing me for the fact I held a broomstick looking like I'm ready to attack the overlord with it.
" I can assure you I do need that medicine." Alex replied with a nasally and scratchy voice. " I am shocked that you would bring me medicine considering I have talked maybe twice to you."
After Alex said that he let her into his room. He dropped the broom on the ground and went back to sitting on his bed. Misako put the box on a table and started unpacking what was in it.
"It was less me and more Dr. Saunders." She replied. " After you told him you were sick he went to a pharmacy and bought you some medicine and other things that should help you."
" Ok , but why are you here and not him?" Alex asked.
"He said that he had some last things to do at the museum and he asked me to come bring you some stuff." She replied. "Sorry, if you wanted to see him."
Alex wasn't sure what was worse. He has started to get more comfortable talking to Krux one on one ,but he still knows what the man has done and will do. It also doesn't help that Krux kept asking questions on if he had discovered his elemental powers. It almost always felt like an interrogation whenever that happened.
On the other hand, Alex did not want to be around Misako at all. Largely due to the fact of abandoning Lloyd as a kid. Alex was also secretly hoping that she had a reason for doing that that the show didn't mention besides her excuse of looking for a way to prevent Garmadon and Lloyd from fighting. Because if that was her reason then why didn't she just bring him along with her? It isn't that hard.
"Maybe I should ask her about that?" Alex thought. It's not like it wasn't something that wasn't known about Lloyd in Ninjago. There have been plenty of books about his life and the lack of parental figure for the first 7 years of his life was kind of obvious. So if Alex questioned her it's not like he would be saying stuff that would make him suspicious.
If Alex had not been sick he wouldn't have had the balls to do this ,but sick Alex and normal Alex are two different people so this was a good idea for sick Alex.
"Well if that is all, then I will be taking my leave if that is ok?" Misako said
"Wait." Alex said
"What is it?" Misako asked.
"I have a question for you." Alex said.
Misako gained a confused look at this. "What do you want to ask?"
"Why did you leave Lloyd as a kid?" Alex asked.
Misako gained an astounded, confused, and outraged look at this. She suddenly gained a cold look with none of the niceness she had displayed earlier.
"It's none of your business why I did what I did so I ask that you please drop the question." She answered with a harsh tone.
With that answer Alex started to realize that maybe this idea he had while he was sick was not nearly as good as he had originally thought…but he had already asked so he might as well get an answer while he was at it.
"You're right it is none of my business ,but I would like to know regardless because it just doesn't make sense that you would abandon your own child knowing that his father couldn't take care of him." Alex answered. "You don't seem like a terrible enough person to just plain abandon him so there has to be more of a reason why you did what you did."
"Well fine , if you want to know so bad then it was because I was trying to find a way to prevent the ultimate fight between Lloyd and his father." She answered in an angry huff.
"So then why didn't you take Lloyd with you then? Why abandon him?" Alex asked in response.
"Because the ruins I explored could be very dangerous and Lloyd could have gotten hurt since he was so young."
"You could have just left him outside the ruins or had someone babysit him. You didn't need to abandon him. So again I ask why did you leave him?" Alex asked again.
Misako gained a sad look at the end and with a sigh she finally said.
"It was because I was scared for myself and Lloyd."
"What?" Alex asked flabbergasted. That answer made zero sense to Alex on why she would be scared for herself.
"Let me explain." She said "I wasn't lying about the ruins being very dangerous because they were. I was afraid that one day I would go into the ruins and I wouldn't come back. I was afraid that someone would have to explain to my baby boy why his mom didn't come back. I was afraid that Lloyd would grow close to me and have to experience the loss of a mother. I was afraid of connecting to him and then leaving him alone. I thought it would be better for him to never have to experience that loss, that sadness. What is better? To gain something and then have to lose it or to never have had it in the first place. I knew what my answer would be so I acted on it." She explained with deep sadness in her face and a tear running down her face.
"So you acted on a what if." Alex asked, having a little more sympathy for the woman.
"Yes, I was so sure that I would die in those ruins that I convinced myself that it would happen." She answered. "It is one of my biggest regrets that I will ever have and if I could take it back I would ,but I can't."
With that she stood up and started to walk to the door.
"I will be leaving now since I answered your question." She gave one more angry glare before she walked through and closed the door behind her.
Alex realized that he would probably be on bad terms with Misako for a long time ,but he didn't regret it. He now didn't harbor as much hate for as he did before. Her reason wasn't the best one ,but it wasn't as bad as he had thought. Did he understand why she did it now? Yes. Does he agree with her reasoning? No ,but she is human and she made a mistake. A big one ,but a mistake nonetheless.
With that Alex took some medicine and tried to sleep.
(The Next day)
Alex felt a lot better than yesterday, but he still felt that he was too sick to go into the noodle shop today. He called into Skylor and she was understanding and said she hopes Alex feels better.
Later there was another knock on the door. Alex, too lazy to go and grab the broom decided to just open the door instead of threatening them with a broom.
It was Cole holding some boxed food.
"Cole, what are you doing here?" Alex asked. He opened the door to let him in and Cole went in and sat on a chair.
"What, you're not happy to see me?" Cole teased "And here I thought I was being nice trying to visit my number one fan."
"That's not what I meant and you know it." Alex said.
"Alright fine, I was visiting one of my favorite restaurants when I noticed a certain waiter wasn't there." Cole said. "So, I asked Skylor where you were and she told me you were sick. So I asked her where you lived and she told me your address. I also brought some food for you to eat."
"Thanks."
"Yeah, no problem, but man, this place sure brings back memories." Cole replied.
"Oh yeah, how so?" Alex asked. He knew exactly why this place brought memories, but he wasn't supposed to know that.
"Well for a time we were homeless after we fought the great devourer and this place was the only one we could afford while still being able to train lloyd. To put it lightly, it was a real struggle to have everybody live in this one room." Cole said.
"I bet considering I live here by myself and it still feels a little cramped here." Alex replied
"Anyway I was just here to check in on you and make sure you were okay." Cole said.
"I'm fine except for the fact that I had to miss work at the noodle shop and the museum, but regardless I really appreciate you checking in on me."
"Wait, you work at the museum?" Cole asked.
"Yeah, I thought you would have known ,but I guess I never really mentioned it did I ,but if you are wondering I work as the nightguard." Alex said.
"Neat, maybe I'll come by and visit you when you are working there." Cole said
"Cole, that would be called breaking and entering. I would have to arrest you for that." Alex answered.
"You say that ,but I have a gut feeling you wouldn't arrest me." Cole teased a bit.
"Nope, I would totally arrest you." Alex answered. Alex was also lying.
Cole then got up from his chair.
"I think it's about time I left considering that you are indeed fine and not sick." Cole said. He then went in for the hug which caught Alex off guard completely ,but he returned it after a second.
"You do realize that I could get you sick from hugging me right?" Alex asked.
"I know ,but I just wanted to give a goodbye hug to a friend." Cole answered. With that he walked through the door and as he was about to shut the door Alex spoke.
"Hey Cole!" Alex said.
"What?"
"You're a great guy, you know that." Alex said.
Cole opened the door a bit to give him a bit of a confused look.
"What brought this along?" He questioned.
"I don't know. Just felt like telling you that." Alex said honestly.
Cole smiled at that.
"Thanks" he said and with that he closed the door.
"Welp time to dig in and eat whatever Cole brought me" Alex thought and with that he sat down and opened up his food and of course the food Cole brought was cake, but as Alex took a bite at least it was delicious.
I hope you appreciated the chapter and me giving Misako another reason for what she did. I wanted to give her at least a little bit of a better of an excuse for abandoning Lloyd so I hope you appreciated that conversation.
Also with School starting again I will probably upload even less ,but at this point who knows.
Anyway on to the question which is: I plan on shipping someone with Alex ,but I'm not sure who I exactly want to ship him with, but I was wondering who you guys would want to ship with him so I would appreciate if you guys would mention someone you might want. Doesn't necessarily mean I will pick them ,but I just want to know who you guys want.
Finally, I'm just telling you that we will finally getting a bit more into the plot in the next chapter. There might just be a fight scene with Alex finding out his elemental powers. Hint Hint nudge nudge.
