"Growing up with not that many friends was rough for Bebop, especially before becoming a mutant due to him getting into fights and always being someone's grunt. Though what he didn't expect was being noticed by the reporters and gossip writers after showing off to Luthor on the moon and causing him to accidentally blow up his legs. This also got Ivy to be noticed after confirming how she was getting funded by Steppenwolf for future plans and trended online. While that was going well with the two villains, Harley and Rocksteady were having trouble adjusting to the superhero lifestyle when it came to bonding with the Bat family. Who had been invited by the Justice League for an important meeting going on, the former villain and rhino didn't know what to except but to try and be on their best behavior if they were going to show they wanted to be in the big leagues."
Morning-Hall of Justice
It was one thing for the pair to adjust to hanging out with masked heroes like Robin and Batgirl who has already grown a positive reputation for Gotham City. It was going to the place where the best of the best hang out and plan on protecting the planet that had Harley and Rocksteady nervous. Right now in cruiser was the two villains along bat teens and Slash who had gotten a request to meet up at the hall of justice for an important discussion that had to be handled. Robin was in the backseat of the cruiser crossing his arms at the ride since he was riding with Batgirl and Slash since he was being treated like a kid.
"My grandfather is the demon's head; my mother had raised me in the mountains to learn how to kill a person in five gruesome ways. So why I can't I be the one to drive the damn car?!"
Shouting aggressively at the humiliation since while he didn't mind sitting in the back due to how he could keep to himself, he was on the left side with Slash who was eating a sandwich that was breaking apart and spilling crumbs by Robin's side. Rocksteady was the one driving while Harley was in the passenger's seat focused on texting her wife about what happened on the moon.
"Whatever that crap means is nothing when your in the cruiser. This car has been through hell and back in the big apple as well in Gotham, the only one I'd let drive is my man Bebop. Or the boss when she wants to smash through stuff."
Rocksteady telling the boy wonder about who got to drive the car since it was important to him and the others. Robin wanted to respond back at him but was stopped at Batgirl since she knew the real reason why Damian was acting upset.
"We can't use the bat mobile since Batman and Nightwing needed it for an important assignment that needed them away from Gotham. So while they're gone, Harley and Rocksteady would be in charge of driving. While we would be in charge of handling missions."
Informing him what they'd be in charge after the two went away on their mission. While the discussion continued to go on, Harley was looking at numerous articles and blogs about Ivy. It was talking about her background as well the future for the Legion of Doom, as well about Bebop who represented the muscles for villain bosses and standing up to people like Lex. It was driving her mad that she couldn't go to the base and figure out what was happening between the two, still she knew Ivy wouldn't let this get to her head and forget about her or the others. Meanwhile Rocksteady was driving nervously as he looked at his phone seeing they were several minutes away from the Hall of Justice.
"Shit. I can't believe I'm going see her friends, as well her cousin again. Last time it happened was when we locked him up in that book and being mind controlled by that Psycho guy. Really hope he doesn't try and burn my face when he learns I'm dating her."
Thinking to himself about what was going on in his head since if he learned about the things she's seen with him along that incident with her cosplaying as a bunny girl. It was a one way trip to the stratosphere with one punch and losing his head at the same time, not thinking about what was going on. Harley nudged him on paying attention as he saw the building in front of them as he found a parking spot available for them as he drives over to the park the cruiser. The five made their way out as they saw several heroes either flying to the doors or rooftop.
"Heroes always get the best club houses. Think they have a swimming pool? A jumbotron television? Maybe a space station."
Harley offering ideas on what the hall of justice might have as she was excited to see what have in store since it was her first time coming here. The small group made their way to the doors where Batgirl, Robin and Slash walked in without trouble. Except for Harley and Rocksteady who triggered the defense systems going off and sending several spheres flying over them.
"What's with the floating balls of destruction? We're with the good guys."
She asked confused by the strange greeting as the sphere's fired a force field around them and lifting the pair into the air. Keeping them in place and enabling them from moving, struggling to break out the villains see someone walking over towards them which was Mister Terrific. One of the league's brightest minds and smartest man on the planet that could even rival Batman himself.
"Sorry for the security systems. The T-spheres still see you both as a threat, much to myself but Power girl told me about your arrival. Apparently, there were some I didn't have the chance to reprogram to their observation status."
Apologizing for his gadgets attacking them as he deactivated them to let Harley and Bebop go as the two dropped on the ground in a rough manner. Slash walked over to help them up as Rocksteady growled at how his first impression made him look like a chump, while Harley smiled that there was one hero that believed she was trying to change her status.
"Trust me. It's not the first I've been bonded before by someone's stuff, first time when it was with Joker was a bit weird cause it was confetti. Then when Ivy did it, it was more romantic and intimate."
Responding to Mister Terrific that she didn't mind being contained and brining up an unfortunate memory that made Barbara cover Robin's ears since he wasn't enough to hear that kind of topic. Having things settled, Terrific decided to bring them into the building where the bat teens and mutant turtle were used to the surroundings since it was their second time coming here. Harley and Rocksteady were speechless at how impressive it was than the Legion's building. There was a welcoming feeling when the two entered as well not getting glares from the people, walking up to the lobby they saw statues dedicated to numerous veteran heroes that have either retired or passed away.
"Welcome to the hall of justice. Built in September eight, nineteen seventy-three. When the Justice Society of America came together, they had this building made so they could formulate plans to handle matters that countries couldn't handle. It's also a place for members to live if their identities are exposed or if they need to recover from intergalactic missions."
Introducing the two villains to the headquarters and that it had more to offer than Ivy's job since it was both a base and hotel at the same time. Harley couldn't help herself but to check around the portraits of past heroes while Rocksteady was checking out the windows to see if a certain red cape man flying over to greet them. Mister Terrific was new to the concept of Superman's cousin dating a mutant henchman and not getting caught in criminal activity.
"Lately he's been nervous of seeing Superman since they were somewhat responsible for locking up Superman and the others in Queen of Fables Harley freed them after Darkseid invaded Earth. So he's trying to muster any courage he has left for when he sees him."
Batgirl telling him about why the rhino was moving around the lobby ready to either run out the building or start swinging at the man of steel if he said something about the relationship. While he could see the obvious look of fear on Rocksteady's face on seeing Superman, Robin gestured to Terrific that he was going die when he'd see the Kryptonian since he didn't have that much faith in things going the rhino's way.
"Flying man here."
Slashing calling out to seeing Superman outside which caused Rocksteady to fumble a bit at the name while Harley excited seeing how she could make a good impression on her becoming like everyone in the league. The pair looked outside checking if it was the big man himself, though it was J'onn J'onzz who was wearing a red cape and noticed the two looking him thinking different thoughts about Superman arriving.
"For your information. He's right behind with several others who had to clean up an oil spill near Atlantis, plus. Power girl is with Superman talking about you, I suggest you take a breath of air."
Advising them that he was on the way which caught the two off guard and getting them either nervous or excited in seeing him. Looking high in the air they saw several men and women descending to the front doors, which was being led by none other than Superman as well Power girl by his side. While the Bat family greeted the heroes since they were familiar with them, Harley and Rocksteady shared different expression on their face when they saw Superman walking up to them. While the mutant rhino kept back not saying anything since he noticed Power girl concern for how he was acting, Harley decided to speak up first since she worked with him once during the Gotham invasion.
"Hey there Supes, as you can see by the Bat family. I'm an honorary bat and hero in training, haven't done anything criminal like in months or hadn't killed anyone. Except for Professor Pyg, but that was out of what he did to those people."
Doing a greeting and giving him an update on what she's been doing for the past several months which left him uneasy since it was a risky move in Batman bringing her into his team. Though he looked at Rocksteady who could tell was nervous at how he was dating his cousin and him waving slightly in the hopes of getting on his good side.
"While we do know you have a semi good heart in knowing what's right and wrong, it won't be easy to convince everyone. But I'm glad we can meet face to face."
Offering her a compliment that Harley had difficulty in doing what's right most of the time, there was a chance something good could come out of her. Hearing the words coming from him made the clown woman blush at his words as she felt embarrassed at the response. He decided to guide everyone to the cafeteria where they could get something to eat, while that was happening. Power girl whistled Rocksteady over to her side so they could talk in secret since the others were on alert for Harley since she seemed to be the center of attention.
"After we handled the cleanup I told him not that much of us. Just how you helped me out with Ultra Humanite and handling that plant attack in Gotham, but he does want to know about you. He's not that all scary, just when his family is threatened."
Briefing him on what Superman wanted to know about them which left Rocksteady at ease from hearing he wasn't responsible for the killer plants that Ivy made and how he took out the white gorilla. He decided to make his way to Harley since he wanted to stand by if any heroes would try to consider her a threat, while that happened. Wonder Woman decided some girl on girl time with Karen since she was confused about this relationship with the beast.
"While it's not common for most people to be fascinated with an anthromorphic being. Why him? I've asked the Flash to look into his criminal records and he's rather brutish, as well isn't the sharpest of minds when it comes to fighting."
Requesting to know why out of the criminals she would have might want to date would be Rocksteady. While it was unlike Diana to pry into other's relationships since she's always remained single due to the complications of dating someone. She was curious about what would make her want to date the rhinoceros man since she could date anyone due to her beauty and personality.
"Maybe I just want to be with someone that's not that complicated. He's hardheaded and can be fun to hang out with once you get to know him. But your history with beast men doesn't go so well, might want to blame Circe for that."
Making a comeback for her which left Wonder Woman to huff at the explanation since her fights with the witch left her to not trust animal men. Making their way to the cafeteria, they saw a huge array of food lined up for them which caused Harley and Rocksteady to rush over seeing that most of the food was available for everyone. Slash joined in as the others watched the three digging in the free food leaving Batgirl to be in charge of talking with the heroes.
"With Batman and Nightwing taking a leave in absence things have been going alright. I did a bit of research in several criminals seeking a second chance and might possibly want to know if it's a good idea in helping them."
Suggesting to Superman and the others how there could be numerous villains that want to change their ways and make up for the crimes they committed in the past. It was a long shot for any criminals in the villain community to decide and change their ways without knowing if they want to try and try. The best way for him or any members of the league wanted to know the truth, was using Diana's rope.
"Really? Again? Why don't we just get a lie detector. Or maybe use one on phones? There's apparently an app for everything nowadays."
Asking about the usage of the lasso of truth as Wonder Woman pulled it out ready to see what the real reason why Harley and Rocksteady decided to change side. Whistling over to the three who continued to enjoy the free meals noticed Superman calling him, Batgirl stopped Slash from coming over since this was a personal discussion and wanted the honest truth from them. Harley noticed the lasso being pulled out and knew they wouldn't make it easy for them, though she didn't hesitate and walked over to the rope and waited for when the rope touched her.
"Normally we don't use this method when new heroes visit the league, we do background checks and meetings. But we want to hear it from you, so I want to know what your reason is for wanting to change sides."
Going right to the point and wanted to know the truth from both villains as Harley would be the one to do it first since she knew her reason. Yet the lasso could bring the truth out of anyone, even the most stubborn of people. Cautiously reaching to the golden rope and grabbing it, she felt its power following into her and how thinking about Superman's question was compelling her to admit her real intentions. Batgirl watched at Harley struggling in admitting the truth as she looked straight at Superman and was ready to admit her reason for being in the bat family.
"I'm doing this because I want to be a better wife for Ivy! I'm always fucking up on our dates and trying to not ruin any chance of humiliating her at the Legion of Doom! And I'm also trying to help Rocksteady because of the times we screwed you over for the crap we pulled off in the past so you can let him date Power girl!"
Yelling the truth which made Superman removes the lasso away from her as the group was shocked about it not being a change in morality, but a change in her current relationship. Looking over to Rocksteady seeing it was his turn, he felt like running since the lasso could bring out anything out of him that he's either lied or kept secret. Though Robin threw a batarang at him causing the rhino to stumble forward to touch the lass of truth, just like Harley he felt its power flowing through him and forcing him to tell the truth as well.
"All I want from this gig is to be with Power girl and for us to bust heads and make fun of villains who like to mess with people. Along to have one night together where we both bang till the building collapse and going for a second round where she invites Wonder Woman over for a threesome where I'm a beast man and they're trying to stop me from committing a crime!"
Announcing embarrassingly as well holding his mouth at the last part which left Power girl to look embarrassed as well since she shared the same thing but was able to keep it to herself, while for Wonder Woman blushing hard about how she didn't expect to get have a secret crush from Superman's cousin. The others in the room tried their best to hold in a laughter or trying to not mess with Rocksteady, meanwhile for Superman. Noticed the two villains were not feeling to good about what they had admitted in front of him as he could only feel sorry for doing this and trying to be heroes for their own relationships.
"I'm not upset that your doing this for your relationships. But what I am concern is how your partners feel about it since Ivy is currently CEO of the Legion, which would make things complicated if you can't find common grounds for it. While for you."
Exchanging advice to Harley that while she was doing this for the sake of Ivy in being a better wife, she should get Ivy's opinion on the matter and actually see if this would be a good move. With the clown woman taking the time to think about his words, his gaze turned to Rocksteady since the mutant was dating a family member and spoke out in a crude tone in why he wanted to be with Karen.
"If there would be one way, I want to make sure your serious about the relationship you have with her, then there's something I need you to do. I want to be sure if your honest and taking it seriously with you dating my cousin."
Telling the rhino bluntly that if he was going to be with Power girl, he'd have to do something for him in exchange which made Rocksteady nervous. While leaving Harley to think to herself if what she was doing either for Ivy or to be a better version of herself, especially how Ivy's become a hit at the legion leaving her to think if this was the occupation she should be in right now.
Afternoon-Legion of Doom Base
Back in Gotham City at the villain's headquarters was a massive gathering happening outdoors where a public announcement was being held for Ivy due to her business on the moon. Most of the villains were attending the event as well paparazzi from all across the city, all except for Bebop who wasn't feeling himself after what happened at the convention. He was right now in the meeting room where he hooked up an old television set and game system to pass the time since it was the best way to cheer himself up. Distracted by the eight-bit gaming he was playing; he didn't notice the doors opening showing the new recruits that June brought in who looked upset at what was happening.
"We need to talk about Ivy, she's been busy with reporters and hasn't told about any plans for crimes she wants committed. Even after I brought in Terra who could manipulate rocks."
Volcana asking him about what was happening to her since she's been distracted with the sudden popularity she's gotten and was acting like a celebrity than a villain. Though Bebop wasn't listening since he was focused on playing his game trying to ignore what was happening around him.
"He's playing Gauntlet two, it's going be impossible to snap him out of it. Me and Cock King always play after we rob a bank, it's more thrilling to play it at an arcade place than at home."
Killer Moth recognizing the game and knowing how treacherous it was for anyone to get someone away from the levels and surviving the digital hordes of enemies Bebop was facing. The group looked at him seeing how hypnotized he was at the screen, they tried to get Bebop to focus but the warthog didn't react to anything. That was until Bebop and the group noticed a new enemy on screen which looked familiar, a green eight-bit witch that walked up Bebop's knight and zapped him with a lightning bolt.
"Game over, idiot."
Speaking to the warthog before presenting itself as Enchantress as she crawled out of the television set scaring the group and shutting off the screen since he needed to focus on what was happening outside.
"I thought after that speech you gave on the moon to Lex might have made you see what was happening with this new position Ivy was in. But clearly I was wrong, your staying here while leaving Harley's wife to be swallowed by the masses."
Calling him out on not doing anything since after they returned to the moon, he got the same attention like Ivy did and wanted interviews. Except he rejected them and kept to himself leaving Ivy to take his spotlight, which he didn't care for when it happened.
"That's because I thought she'd actually do crimes. But after that pink boy band Lex handed her, she's been swamped by all those camera people. Besides she's running the Legion, no one is messing with us and I'm sure she has a plan coming up with the crew."
Responding that he didn't know what he could do with what was happening since things seemed to be going smoothly. That statement earned a slap from Mrs. Freeze since that wasn't the case since there was something wrong with the deal. Looking over to the woman, she handed Bebop files about information she gathered from the assistants that Lex handed to Ivy to handle everything to help get her noticed.
"Not this crew. The Jons that have been assisting her aren't human, I had Volcana try to flirt with woman of them, but they weren't interested. But she did get was one of their nail clippings where I did research on their background, to point easy for your mind. They're not human."
Explaining about the five pink clothed men that have been hovering around Ivy which she showed one of the nail clippings in a vial. Going over to Volcana, she made a small fire come from her fingers as the nail changed into a slime like substance and wiggling around trying to escape from the fire. Bebop moved back freaked out by the creature as he could see they were concern about the current company that she was keeping right now.
"You stood up to Luthor to help Ivy, it's time you do it again."
Enchantress reminding him about how in order to help her he'd have to say the hard truth about what was happening. Even if it meant ruining her moment, in which the warthog snorted at how he had to be the one to handle the situation again. Going over to the door where he placed his chainsaw at, he packs it behind his back as he walked outside with the others following him. Making their way outside to check out the event, they saw Ivy wearing a unique type of dress as well looking at the crowd with the Jons by the side instructing her on what to say for everyone. Gripping his fist he walked over to the stage where security stopped him, though Ivy noticed him and the new crew looking at her as she nudged them to let him on stage.
"It's about to you came, seriously these Jons have been driving me nuts with their plans and dressing me up. Along making me host a girl's pageant, no offense girls you all look incredible but don't look up a supervillain as a role model."
Telling the girls that were dressed up based off her old school costumes leaving Bebop confused on not noticing them when he went on stage. Still, he didn't let the kids distract him as he had to help her out on seeing what was wrong about this whole moment happening around them.
"We'll the kids should be like us; cause we're fucking badass."
Informing her and the kids that being a villain was awesome which made the crowd gasp at his statement. The crew in the crowd watched at how the Jons were reacting to the mutant speaking up and taking away Ivy's spotlight, which was making them act up.
"For a while we've been hated because we like to do things others would agree is wrong. Also that whenever we break stuff they complain about it, but guess what? I don't care, especially when it comes to how people think of me. Just like you before coming to this team, and to now end up being swarmed by this nut sacks who want to know what hell your eating for dinner. I mean who the fuck wants to know that I eat a honey mustard sandwich on Thursday?!"
Asking the crowd and giving a speech about how a villain shouldn't care about others' opinions about them and what they do with their lives. They should only care on the others their with and how it affects them, while he was ranting on. Ivy noticed the Jons acting up which she tried to tell Bebop to stop since the more he talked, the more the assistants started to get angry.
"But what really makes me upset was that you let five men tell you how to dress and act. We fought against assholes who tried this on us! So far now, they won since I thought you wouldn't let anyone take you for granted, but these guys did. And their not even human, their some kind of wannabe Clayface. So if your going let that decide who you want to be than new villains who were inspired by you join the Legion. Then I'm out, because. I! Quit!"
Shouting out the last part which had everyone shocked at his reaction to him deciding to leave the Legion of Doom. Ivy didn't know how to react since she didn't know he felt like this, especially since he was the one who helped get things under control from the other members in the team. Before Bebop could react to what he said since he was shocked at himself for saying it, a flying camera went across his face sending him off stage. Looking over to see one of the Jon's reacting to the mutant's resignation, the five slowly begun to merge together in a gross transformation.
"You retro moronic pig! You don't get to decide to leave, we do! She's the face of the Legion, you are the muscle as well everyone else! We planned everything! You, are nothing but a weapon that will be used when we say it!"
The Jons speaking out as they quickly changed into one large Jon as it caused the audience to flee in terror of the giant. While Bebop was caught off by the camera, he saw Jon's foot about to stomp on him, that was until several vines stopping him which made the giant looked behind them seeing Ivy was the one that stopped him.
"This face also had plans. And it was to present the new group that represent the new Legion of Doom, which is the Natural Disasters!"
Calling out to the others which made the new recruits react to the team's name as they quickly leapt at the giant beginning to attack him. Bebop, who was still trying to figure out what was happening saw Ivy walking over to help him up since she noticed the confused look on his face on what was going on.
"I knew those weirdos planned something for me like this pageant and everything else. I let them handle everything while I went to the new guys to get ready for their first time appearance, as well planned on you being in charge of the group. I couldn't tell you because you might have screwed it up."
Explaining the reason for the deception since it had seemed he was the only one who thought Ivy had changed while everyone knew that it was a ploy to take out Jon. Looking back at seeing the recruits doing their own types of attacks on the giant, though Bebop was silent at how he was told he'd be leading the team and being kept in the dark about the plan. Though is expression from confusion soon changed to anger which made Ivy nervous as she took a step back knowing he was going have a mutant tantrum.
"I screw it up?!"
Shouting in confusion as he brought out his chainsaw and began to rev it up as he made a dash towards the giant. The others noticed how Bebop was charging at Jon as they quickly acted to help him out, Terra constructed a rock staircase to get him up to Jon's face. Only to be swatted away and sent flying in the air, luckily Killer Moth and Cock King were in the air to quickly catch him and flies directly at Jon. The giant was going to crush the three but was halted by Freeze and Ivy who froze his feet and wrapping several vines around his arms. Taking the chance, both mutants dropped Bebop as he was going to dive straight onto his head. But Jon was about to bite him right where Bebop was going to land on him, yet he lost focus after feeling his stomach being lite on fire by Volcana.
"Bring this bastard down to size! You can do it boss!"
She called out to him which made the warthog shocked at being called boss for once. Hearing the confidence from and everyone made the warthog let out a war cry before diving straight into Jon's mouth and cutting him up from the inside. Ivy and the Natural Disasters moved back seeing how Bebop was doing his work and cutting up Jon from the inside out, cuts and slashes were being made as the giant couldn't do anything but try to pull him out. Resulting in him ripping out his own organs and yelling at the frustration that was going on around him.
"Luthor. Will be pissed when he learns about this, Ivy!"
Responding to this betrayal before trying to crush her. Though it was cut short where his face was split open by Bebop's chainsaw as the enraged mutant made his way out covered in blood and killing the giant. Walking out of the skull and looking tired, the warthog noticed everyone looking at him and Ivy feeling upset at how she must have hurt him for keeping him out of the plan. Though what was going through his head was that she gave him the chance to be in charge of his own group of villains.
"I'm, a boss?"
Asking Ivy in a scared tone as the plant woman nodded as well accompanied by the witch seeing how she was the one to have him walk on stage and make a scene for everyone. The mutant didn't know how to respond as he heard cheering from the sides as well the kids who dressed up as Ivy cheering his name, this resulted in Bebop to cry at the moment which caught everyone by surprise. Along yelling at the air at feeling like a success as the people who remained applauded on the performance the Natural Disasters did, while for Ivy feeling guilty at what she had done to him.
Later-Harley and Ivy's Apartment
After the long and stressful day the two had as well the mutants going through, both Bebop and Rocksteady went to handle personal things. What Rocksteady was doing was going to his family's farm to introduce himself and learn about Superman and Power girl's history and learning what he'd need to learn if he wanted to be with Karen. While for Bebop who went through a crisis was sent to Karai since she had history with him and knew how to cheer him up. Right now the two women were laying in their bed feeling uncomfortable about what happened and the grief they made for themselves.
"We really fucked up, didn't we?"
Harley asking Ivy since when she came home she explained the reason why she became a hero. Importantly that she thought with Ivy becoming a leader she'd have to change herself, while Ivy. Was distracted by the sudden popularity to ignore other's suggestions and coming up with plans in secret.
"Yeah. To everyone we know, and to us. I should have said no to Luthor's stupid offer, we should have just kept to ourselves. We shouldn't have changed. I liked how we were."
Ivy admitting that the change from an ordinary leader to CEO was getting to her and making her regret to the decision she made. Especially Harley who was at fault in the moment since she should have told her not to do it but encouraged her about accepting the deal.
"Same, guess we felt to confident after cleaning up Gotham and thought we'd be on easy streak. But that streak had to come at a price, which was losing our crew. Who were basically our screwball family."
Going on that they had no one to help them out with what they were going through, even after they helped the two out to get to where they were right now. Turning to face each other unsure of what they could do now, Ivy merely held onto Harley's hand in an attempt for comfort since she could see she's been neglecting her the most after becoming the CEO.
"Then will have to get our family back, no matter how difficult it'll be."
Suggesting that they bring back their crew and settle things before it got out of control. Even if it meant dealing with new problems they'll get involved in, just as Harley smiled at the idea of getting the crew together. The doorbell rang which startled to two and caused the hyenas to park at the front door, confused at the surprise visitor. The two made their way over to check out who was visiting them, Frank was at the door opening it to see a distraught Batgirl who looked like she was told terrible news.
"Harley, their gone."
Telling her in a sadden tone about what happened as she pulled behind her a shocking sight which was a set of clubs and Batman's cowl covered in blood. This caught the two women off guard as they were able to figure out what she was telling them, which was somehow Batman and Nightwing were killed. Meaning bringing their friends together would have to wait until this dramatic news would have to be settled since the people who would be responsible for this would have to be from the Legion of Doom, meaning Ivy's people were responsible for the two heroes death.
