It's been a few days, I'm sorry for not updating sooner but I moved! That took a lot of my time and energy, so I wasn't able to revise as much...Also I'm giving university another shot, I think I found something I really like and I look forward to it. This means that my energy will be more focused on school and my job. I hope I can keep updating but there may be some hiatuses coming up. Enough about me, I hope you enjoy!

The realization of last night's events didn't fully register until she was fully awake and mortification and shame set in. It hadn't been a dream. She thought it had been a dream within a dream until she noticed the little wolf placed on the side of the bed, and the light smell of pine lingering on her bed. It was a pleasing and crisp smell that made her want to go back to sleep until she realized, and her eyes no longer blinked the tiredness away, and opened in shock.

Oh my god he was on my bed last night, and I asked him to stay! She buried her face in her hands as her mind replayed last night. How could she face him ever again, and aya- wait a minute, he and ayame weren't unified anymore.

So that gives you the right to jump on him? Her inner voice snarled, she shook her head. No nothing had gone on between them, but…he was so close to her and he let her lean on him.

He was just being kind! Of course, that was all to it, he was probably too nice to say no to her and she had probably made him uncomfortable. She groaned and let herself fall back on her bed. She would have to apologize to him later, once her shame went away, which would probably be never. She laid an arm across her eyes, and she felt like her cheeks would burst from the embarrassment.

"What am I going to do?" she groaned again.

"Stop it." he warned, he tried sounding displeased but could not help the brightness coming out, "I told you nothing happened."

Yet he was panicking, he had panicked when he woke up. I fucking kissed her. You kissed her hair his inner yokai replied dryly. What if she had woken up? Had she woken up, he would have gotten on his knees and begged for her forgiveness for what he had done. Yet he couldn't help a smile that tugged at the corners of his mouth, which is how Ginta and Hakkaku had picked up on it.

Ginta and Hakkaku continued sniffing around him, trying to pick up what exactly had happened, they eyed him suspiciously.

"Whaddya' mean nothing happened, you have her scent all over." Hakkaku rebuffed.

"Yea, and you woke up in a good mood." Ginta added.

"Ya idiots saying I'm always in a bad mood?" Kouga growled and they both gulped.

"N-no, that's not it," ginta said waving his hands in defense, "it's just today you were..smiling."

"It's feast day." shit, he knew they were right he was in a good mood.

"Mhm, and you have her scent all over." with one final sniff Hakkaku stepped back, with ginta following suit.

"She had a bad dream and I was there comforting her, nothing happened."

"Comforting how?" Hakkau was curious, he didn't think anything had been wrong with kagome, she looked fine earlier.

"W-we, I hugged her! That's it! She was crying."

"Why was she crying?" a voice asked.

"Yea why was she-!" Ginta nearly yelped, they hadn't realized that ayame had slowly made their way into their small circle and joined in listening, Ginta and Hakkaku's face paled as they slowly turned to look at her.

"Why was she crying?" she asked again, ignoring Ginta and Hakkaku's reactions.

Kouga sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose, "she had a bad dream about the birds and I guess it left her shaken up."

Ayame nodded, concern etching her face, "is she okay?"

Kouga nodded, "yea she calmed down after a while, but she was pretty scared for a bit."

Ayame frowned, "I didn't sense anything was wrong with her last night."

Ginta and Hakkaku gave each other a strange look, ayame hadn't sensed her? Actually none of them had sensed that anything had been wrong, they slept peacefully unaware that anything was wrong.

Kouga cocked his head, "really? I could smell her distress, and I heard her whimpering."

Ayame looked at Ginta and Hakkaku and they all shared the strange look.

Kouga was confused, why were they looking at each other like that? And realization dawned on him.

"No," he snapped, "it's not like that."

"But-"

"No, that doesn't always work you know that, it's an old wolves tale." he snapped again.

Ayame stared at him, "no it's not." she mumbled, "I felt that before." she said quietly and he deflated.

"And it didn't work." he said gently.

"It didn't work for me," she said in exasperation, "but, it worked for your parents. Don't give me that look I know it did, your mom talked to me about it before we got united."

He shook his head, "she sees me like a friend. I probably just have stronger senses."

Ayame frowned but decided to drop it, as did Ginta and Hakkaku, but they were all thinking the same thing, Mates.

They moved on to a lighter subject after that, Kouga felt still a bit awkward about discussing kagome so openly with ayame, but after a bit he noticed how detached ayame seemed from him and he smiled. She was letting go, and it seemed that she was slowly moving on. He detected the light scent of Ezume, he had noticed that they had been hanging around a lot. There was no malice when kagome's name was brought up, and she finally talked about what happened when she fought ayami.

"Really, she said that?!"

Ayame nodded, "yea, to be fair she was asking for it!"

Kouga rubbed his head, "I'm surprised you didn't do worse damage." He was angry at ayami yet proud of ayame's self control.

"If it hadn't been for kagome, things would have been very ugly."

"What did I do?" kagome's gentle voice interjected, and they all turned to look at her as she approached them.

"Morning sis!" Hakkaku greeted and Ginta echoed in suit.

"Good morning everyone." she greeted, smiling but carefully averted her eyes from kouga ,and he frowned, shit she knew, "so what is it that I did?"

"Oh I was just telling them what happened between me and ayami," ayame's face soured at the mention.

"Oh." kagome frowned, her voice lowered as she looked around, "that girl is dreadful." and the other burst out laughing.

"That's one way of putting it nicely." ayame giggled.

"So whats this feast about?" kagome asked

"Oh well it all started when-" ginta trailed off and kouga snuck a glance at kagome, who was also looking at him, they caught each other staring and they quickly snapped their heads back to ginta. His ears went red as did her cheeks. This didn't go unnoticed by ayame, doesn't think of me as more than a friend yea right she thought.
