The group woke up and began their journey to Atlas, but not before going to the nearest clothing store to pick out some new outfits. (New outfits are the outfits seen in the more recent seasons of RWBY).
They arrived at the train station and got onboard the next train. The ride would take 18 hours to get to Atlas so the train had rooms for people to sleep overnight. Neo had barely slept the night before so she took this opportunity to try and get more sleep.
Neo's dream
Neo was in a void, surrounded by people she had never seen or met before, only a few stood out to her. Adam Taurus was there talking to some of the locals, he had a stab wound in his chest. Neo looked around more and had seen a girl in bright red hair, Neo assumed this was Pyrrha Nikos from what Jaune had told her a little while back. Neo turned to one of the locals.
Neo: Where am I?
Local: You're in the Ever-Void, the place you go to after the Ever-After.
Neo had realised she was in the place people go when they die. Neo walked around a bit and found some weird booth. She approached it with caution as the local spoke.
Local: Welcome Neopolitan.
Neo: You know who I am?
Local: Why yes, not many people get to visit the land of the dead in their dreams.
Neo: What is this you got here?
Local: Here you can ask me if there's someone specific you want to see and I can locate them for you.
Neo thought about this for a while, then she decided to do something that would definitely leave her in tears.
Neo: I'd like to see Roman Torchwick.
The local opened a booklet full of names, he was reading it so fast, that Neo couldn't keep up.
Local: I'm afraid nobody goes by that name around here.
Neo: But… how? He died, I saw it with my own eyes.
Local: If he isn't here then he must still be in the Ever-After. From there he can choose wether to come here or…
Neo: Or what?
Local: Begin a new life as a new person.
Neo's vision faded to black as she was being kicked from the dream.
Neo woke up in shock to see Yang standing over her.
Yang: You alright?
Neo: Yes, why wouldn't I be?
Yang: You started talking in your sleep, Ruby was getting worried.
Neo: Where is she?
Yang: I told her that I would keep an eye on you while she went to check on the others.
Neo: Right…
Yang: So… did you see him?
Neo: Huh?
Yang: Roman, did you see him?
Neo: I don't think I understand.
Yang: You visited the Ever-Void did you not?
Neo was confused, she couldn't help but wonder how Yang knew about the Ever-Void.
Neo: How did you know?
Yang: I also have the ability to travel into the Ever-Void. I used it to see Ruby's mother, until she moved on. Now I used it to see Pyrrha Nikos.
Neo: I did see her along with Adam Taurus. But Roman wasn't there… He was still in the Ever-After.
Yang: Don't worry, you'll see him eventually.
Neo nodded, her and Yang finally had something in common, other than being good at fighting. Eventually Ruby came back as Yang explained how Neo had the ability to visit the dead in her dreams. Neo went back to sleep to try and reconnect to the Ever-Void but was unsuccessful. It seemed that this wasn't a thing that would happen every time she slept. For now, Neo enjoyed her peaceful nap.
Neo woke up as the train was almost at its destination. Ruby had also slid into her bed, 'this girl can't get enough of me' Neo thought. Emerald came through the door waking Ruby and causing her to fall out of the bed… again.
Emerald: Oops, sorry Ruby.
Ruby: It's all good *head circles indicating Ruby is dizzy*.
Emerald: Well c'mon, get your stuff, we are almost at Atlas station.
Ruby and Neo got their stuff and arrived at the nearest exit, the others had already arrived and were waiting. The doors soon opened as the group exited and arrived at mantle station. They would need air transport to arrive at Atlas. Weiss took her scroll and tried to get in contact with her sister, Winter but with no luck. The group began to brainstorm ideas the could use to get to Atlas. Ruby suggested to use her semblance as she could fly with it. However Ruby wouldn't be able to carry all of them as that would drain her aura really fast. Neo suggested to use her umbrella but they wouldn't be able to give it back from Atlas. They soon realised they would need a bullhead or some other air vehicle. They went to the nearest airport but were denied entrance.
Ruby: Anyone have any ideas?
Emerald: I have one, but I don't think it's wise.
Yang: Tell us anyway.
Emerald: Well… me and Neo used to be thieves and criminal, not to mention both our semblances are based on creating illusions. So my idea is to steal an air vehicle, plus, Neo can drive.
Blake: That's very…
Weiss: Irresponsible.
Yang: Dangerous.
Jaune: Could possibly get us in jail…
Ruby: It's perfect! They won't even notice we took it!
Emerald: Yeah but I will need a lot of aura to keep it invisible.
Jaune: I can help, my semblance allows me to give aura to others while my aura stays the same.
Nora: So… no smashing military dweebs to bits?
Ren: No Nora.
Nora: dang it…
Yang: Sounds like we got a plan!
Neo and Emerald managed to sneak into the airport and began to look for a vehicle that won't attract too much attention. They eventually settled on a silent bullhead. Neo entered the driver's sear as Emerald and Jaune worked on keeping it out of sight. After getting it out of the airport, the took it to the outskirts of Mantle to pick up the others and were on their way to to Atlas.
?: Come in bullhead 1702. I repeat, come in bullhead 1702.
A voice came from the intercom, the whole group began to panic, Neo immediately turned into one of the guards from the airport and mimicked their voice flawlessly.
Neo: Umm this is… John Carcel reporting, is there an issue?
Neo had no Idea how she remembered the name of one of the guards but was grateful she did.
?: Just want to know why you're flying an unauthorised vehicle to Atlas?
Neo: Oh right! Forgot to tell you… My… sister's wedding is coming up… in… a few hours! And… I didn't want to miss it!
?: Oh sorry then! Next time be sure to let HQ know ok?
Neo: Uhhhh… yeah sure! Will do.
?: Well then you have clearance for landing.
The intercom turned off as the gang sighed of relief.
Ruby: I didn't know you could do that!
Neo: Yeah… me neither.
Yang: It saved our asses!
Neo began to blush, she flew the Bullhead to the airport in Atlas and they all disembarked, Neo kept her disguise just in case and she did well to do so as some guards came to inspect them.
Guard 1: Who are these lot?
Neo: Oh! these are… some friends of my sister's… and their plus ones!
Guard 2: Oh so you gave them a lift?
Neo: Exactly!
Guard 1: Well then… sorry for the trouble and enjoy the wedding!
The guards left as Neo and the gang left the airport and into the streets of Atlas. They made their way to the Schnee mansion. The Schnee family had left for Vacuo for a 4 month holiday and had roughly 2 months left. Once they arrived, Weiss ensured none of her butlers or maids would snitch to her father about them being there. From there, the began to plan their next course of action.
Ruby: Ok so we know that the staff keeps Atlas in the air, so all we need to do is take it, create the prison and place it back before anyone notices.
Weiss: You're forgetting something.
Oscar: Only the Winter maiden can open the vault, and we don't know who or where she is.
Nora: What about Winter?
Jaune: What about her?
Nora: Isn't she the Winter maiden?
Ren: Nora, just because her name is Winter, doesn't mean she's the Winter maiden.
Nora: Why not? It would make perfect sense!
Weiss: Winter would tell me such a thing, it isn't her.
Ozpin: I may have an idea.
Everyone turned to Oscar who was speaking like Ozpin. They eventually figured out that it was Ozpin speaking.
Ozpin: The winter maiden was a lady who stayed with a machine to help her stay alive here in Atlas. My guess is that she is still here. But to bring her to the vault, we will also need her machine and not to mention the constantly patrolled halls of the facility.
Ruby: That just makes things impossible!
Waiter: Miss Schnee.
Weiss: Yes Klein?
Klein: You may want to see this.
Klein grabbed a remote and turned on the nearby TV to the news.
Ironwood: People of Atlas. For years I have searched for the ultimate defence system for this region and I have finally done it!
Ruby: Say what now?
Ironwood: Your new protector, is the Winter maiden, a being with ice magic.
Rep: Ice magic?
Ironwood: Indeed, no dust used, just magic.
Rep: Who is this new defender.
Ironwood: None other than my most trusted general, Winter Schnee.
Weiss: What the fuck!?
Weiss turned off the TV and stormed out of the room.
Neo: Well… on the bright side, we can get the maiden to the vault easier now.
Yang: Neo has a point, if we can convince Winter to help us, we may have a chance!
Ruby: I hope so…
The doors opened revealing someone who looked like Weiss but taller and older.
Winter: Who the fuck are you and what the fuck are you doing in my house?!
It took a really long time, but with the help of Klein and Weiss, Winter calmed down.
Weiss: Sis, we need your help.
Winter: what do you need?
Ruby: Our friend is currently putting his life in danger to keep a great evil in a temporary jail. He has about a month left before his aura gives in and releases this evil.
Winter: Salem?
Yang: You knew?
Winter: Ironwood knew and told me after I got the powers. But what do you need me for?
Ruby: The staff of creation. Our friend says that it's the only way he can escape from there alive without releasing Salem onto this world. We need to use it to create the prison and then we will put it back as if nothing ever happened. But we can't do this unless you open the vault.
Winter: Why didn't you tell Ironwood?
Neo: Lionhart from Haven worked for Salem, we didn't know if we could trust Ironwood or not.
Winter: I admit that what you say is believable, but if I were to Open the vault, Ironwood would know it was me.
Emerald: How would he know?
Winter: He mainly sits in his office, if the vault is opened, his computer screens turn red.
Emerald: I can create hallucinations, I can make him see the same screen he's been watching to ensure he doesn't see the red screen. I just need to get close to him.
Winter: I know someone who can help you with that. I assume most of you remember Penny Polindinda?
Ruby: Wait what? I thought she died!
Winter: She was rebuilt better than ever. I could allow you to see her before the mission if you want.
Weiss: So you'll do it?
Winter: Well it looks like you've got it all planned out so… I guess so.
Weiss: Winter, I can't thank you enough for this.
Winter: Anything to save the world.
Neo: well then… let's prepare shall we?
