I don't own Naruto.
"Come down you little brat."
It was that deep and angry voice that had brought Kakashi out of his trance that he was buried in. He looked at the girl who looked worried, then his eyes flickered for a second on the owner of the voice before returning back on to the girl's face.
He was about to say something when suddenly she grabbed his hand and pulled him along with her. If he had wanted he could have easily freed himself from her grasp but for some unknown reason he couldn't bring himself to do it.
After a while, she pulled both of them in the dark alley. She visibly relaxed when the old man didn't noticed that and went ahead. That's when she realized that she was holding his hand. She released his hand and looked at him sheepishly.
He raised a curious eyebrow at her. But she continued looking at him with a strange expression on her face. "Don't you think staring at someone is a bit rude."
She blinked rapidly as if waking from a daydream. "Oh! Uh, yeah."
Kakashi sighed. "Who was that old man and why was he chasing you?"
"Oh him. He's my father." Came her blunt and cheerful reply for someone who was just being chased.
"And?"
She just looked at him puzzled.
Kakashi signed again. "You didn't answered my second question."
"Oh!"
"I ask again why were you running away from your father?"
"Uh! Can we go to some other place where he couldn't find us. Then I will tell you all about me."
"Okay just follow me."
After a few minutes, they both found themselves sitting inside a dumpling shop. Kakashi looked at her with bored eyes. "Let's start with the basics."
"Okay."
"What's your name?"
"I'm Suzumi." She replied cheerfully.
"So Suzumi, why were you running from your dad?"
She huffed, crossed her arms and looked away angrily. "Because I think he deserved it."
Kakashi sighed. "You know that's not really the answer to my question."
"Well, If you answer few of my questions then I will give you all the answers you want." She looked at him from the corner of her eyes.
From her tone he knew that she won't give up on her questions that easily. So he decided to let her ask. And besides how hard a question asked by a civilian could be. "Alright. Let's hear it."
"Are you a ninja?" She asked in a serious tone.
"Uhh..." Okay. Now that was the dumbest question he ever heard in his life.
"Well, are you?"
"Isn't it quite obvious that I'm a shinobi." She turned towards him and he flinched when he saw the look on her face. There were stars gleaming in her eyes and she had a toothy grin. "Really?"
"Yeah."
She slumped in her seat and looked at him with a smile adoring her face. "So I was right. You are in Anbu right?"
"Yes, I'm in Anbu. If you already knew that I was a ninja, why did you asked?" He raised a curious eyebrow at her.
She turned sheepish at that. "I just wanted to confirm that you were a real ninja or not." His eyebrow just went higher. "Anyway, what's your name ninja-san?"
"Kakashi."
"..."
"My name is Kakashi." She just mouthed an 'oh' not quite realizing what he just said. After whole ten seconds Suzumi realized that he said that his name was Kakashi.
"WHAT!!??"
