Dusk turn to night, two young wolves begrudgingly walked to the hill of sorrows. During times of outright despair, desolation, or misery; wolves commonly walk or perch upon the peak. The white wolf paused, "Humphrey..." the gray wolf halted himself. "Would you like to howl?" Humphrey smirked despondently.
"What reason do I have to howl? Is it gonna bring Kate back?" The adolescent wolf questioned. "Even if I wanted to, I don't think I could." as a painful chuckle left the wolf's throat. His eyes becoming misty.
"It's not about happiness. It's about remembrance." Lily passes Humphrey and sits upon the peak. "For when one is sad, the cacophony of pain can be sensed within. Only to be released with a harmony of discord."
"That last sentence doesn't make sense." Humphrey jokes as a tear drips from his fur onto the dirt.
Lily shuts her eyes lifting her head into the night starry sky, smiling. "It's just a fancy way of saying that when you are distraught, like you are now, the sadness may go away if you truly express yourself." As she begins to howl, Humphrey perceives the tears shedding from Lily. Singing out a radiant tune; yet sorrowful, as if she were happy no one else got hurt, but gloomy that she wasn't there to save them. Most importantly... save her.
Humphrey accompanies in the song of dread, pouring the very essence of life into the tune. He could feel the sensation of relief from his cumbersome heart, having finally expressed himself. Both of their agony shifting upon the void of the winter night.
