Chapter Two-hundred and fifty: Battling Baddies
The reborn trainers were still in Galar, as part of their travels so that Dawn and the boys can take part in the current season of the World Coronation Series. A male trainer and his Carbink lost a battle against Dawn and her named Garchomp Germany in the Galar city of Circhester, mainly because the boy didn't think that Dawn's Garchomp would be packing a move like Iron Head. As a result of her win, Dawn's ranking in the World Coronation Series had gone up, and was currently sitting at 1012, meaning that Dawn was close to breaking her way into the Great Class.
"Wow Dawn," Kenny remarked, "You're getting close to ranking up!"
"Well I've got to keep raising my rank if I want to be able to contend with the best, don't I?" Dawn replied. Germany, who stood next to Dawn, nuzzled up against her to get her attention. Dawn smiled gently, patted her named Garchomp on the side of his face.
Clapping her hands together, Mina said, "Well let's see if we can't find enough trainers in the Normal Class for Dawn to cream so she can officially bust into the-"
"Chomp?" Germany spoke up, looking confused as he looked around, sniffing about the air as he smelled a familiar scent. To the surprise of Dawn and the others, Germany proceeded to run off in a random direction.
"Hey Germany!" Dawn said, "Don't go running wild!"
Eventually, the reborn trainers were able to catch up to Germany, but stopped short when they saw why he had run off; he stood face to face against another Garchomp, this one a female as its back fin lacked a notch. Meanwhile, a blonde woman wearing a lab coat stood at a nearby ice cream vendor, and only noticed that there were a pair of Garchomps nearby when she got her ice cream. When the reborn trainers saw who the woman was, they were surprised to see that it was Cynthia, the former Champion of Sinnoh; the female Garchomp was obviously Cynthia's.
"Oh, Dawn, Kenny, Trip," Cynthia greeted, "Fancy running into you guys here." Looking at Mina, Cynthia said, "And you even have a new friend."
"Cynthia, what brings you here to Galar?" Trip asked, "Are you competing in the World Coronation Series?"
Surprisingly, Cynthia shook her head gently in the negative. "No, I'm actually here to help research the lore of Galar, as it mentions a pair of fascinating Pokémon by the names of Zacian and Zamazenta." Chuckling a bit as she wore a mildly embarrassed expression, Cynthia added, "Plus, I got too deep into research again and some rust formed on my battling skills. Dawn would undoubtedly cream me if we fought."
"So you seek to learn of the legends of other regions," Dawn said as Germany sniffed at Cynthia's Garchomp and vice-versa.
Cynthia nodded in the affirmative. "I also heard rumor that Galar's native sector of Team Scorn has vested interest in the legend of Zacian and Zamazenta." That bit of news alarmed the reborn trainers; Team Scorn is gunning for the legendaries from the Sword and Shield games in their previous lives? It would be bad if either of those noble wolves fell into Team Scorn's clutches, or worse yet if Eternatus fell into Team Scorn's hands. No doubt Ayane, who had been deprived of Reshiram, would be more than glad to take Eternatus as a replacement.
Nodding once in understanding, Kenny said, "Yes. We know a bit about Galar's native Sector of Team Scorn. They're called the Headphones Sector, and are headed up by the only known Team Scorn Admin who is a girl, Admin Scorbunny."
Wearing a curious look on her face, Cynthia asked, "Is... is the Admin an actual Scorbunny?"
"It's obviously a code name, Cynthia," Dawn replied, "Anyway, wanna catch up over lunch?"
...
The reborn trainers got lunch with Cynthia at a restaurant that's local in Circhester, Bob's Your Uncle. There, Cynthia was properly introduced to Kenny's girlfriend Mina, learning that she's the person who started up and runs the Kenny Harris Studios fansite. "Oh Dawn, before you order," Cynthia began, "You really ought to take what food you get into consideration. I've seen from the movies Kenny makes that your weight goes up and down quite often and at extreme-"
"Cynthia, Dawn wore a fat suit for the roles she's played where she depicts a fat person," Mina pointed out dryly, "She's never gained or lost weight for real."
Looking a bit embarrassed, Cynthia said, "...Oh. Sorry."
"You are far from the first person who thought Dawn's weight was fluctuating for real," Kenny said, "And chances are you won't be the last."
Nodding once in understanding, Cynthia said, "Indeed. Now, what's this about some tragedy befalling Ideku Badorigo?"
"Ideku, he..." Dawn began, "...He lost his older brother in the last major act of Team Scorn violence in Alola, during the events of the first Manalo Conference. A Captain ranked officer of Team Scorn shot Ideku's brother in the chest."
"Oh my goodness," Cynthia said, "That is so terrible! I hope Ideku is going to be alright. Hearing what happened is all the more reason to stop Team Scorn's evil and bring them down once and for all."
Taking a gulp of her drink, Dawn said, "That is the dream, Cynthia. So, what all can you tell us about what research you've done into the lore of Zacian and Zamazenta?"
After taking a gulp from her own drink, Cynthia explained, "Well there's a reason why I chose this place for us to go to for lunch. There's a tapestry in the back that's connected to the legend." Cynthia then turned and pointed to the tapestry in the back of the main dining area of Bob's Your Uncle, making the reborn trainers turn to see said tapestry. It showed two crowned men with resigned looks, each of them holding candles, and each man was in front of what appeared to be a tombstone. One of the tombstones had a sword on it and the other had a shield.
When the group turned back to face one another, Cynthia said, "I have reason to suspect, due to what that tapestry depicts, that Zacian and Zamazenta were both sealed away."
"You sure they didn't die?" Mina asked, "I mean, that tapestry does depict tombstones..."
"Oh no, from what I've gleamed the two legendary Pokémon are both far too strong to have met their end in their last noted clash," Cynthia replied, "No, it's certain that the two were both sealed away somehow." To the reborn trainers, Cynthia went on, "Anyway, my next stop here in Galar after business in Circhester is finished will be over in Hammerlocke. I got it there's a vault over there with more similar tapestries like the one here, but getting into the vault won't be too easy if what I'm fearing is true. I may need to get special permission."
"Oh, the vault's in Hammerlocke?" Dawn said. Her memory of certain events in the video games in her previous life are a tad fuzzy, but Dawn did remember that, in the Sword and Shield games, at one point the player needed to get into a vault in Hammerlocke to see stuff related to Galar region lore. From what Dawn could recall, the player needed approval from Raihan, the gym leader in Hammerlocke. Speaking up, Dawn said, "Well I'm certain that you can get in eventually. Heck, if it'll help you out, the others and I can come along and argue your case for you."
Cynthia gave an appreciative smile. "That would be nice, yes." It was agreed that the reborn trainers would accompany Cynthia to Hammerlocke to help her get into the vault there to see the tapestries inside, and learn more of how they're connected to the legend of Zacian and Zamazenta.
After the reborn trainers and Cynthia stepped out of Bob's Your Uncle, Cynthia said, "We may need to take multiple Corviknight Taxis to Hammerlocke. I mean there's five of us so..."
"We... were just going to call out some of our dragon Pokémon and fly over," Kenny said, before he and the others led Cynthia out to an open enough area, called out the trio of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina with Mina calling out her Dragonite, they hopped on (Cynthia rode with Trip on Deelia), and they all took off into the air to zoom right on over to Hammerlocke.
Moments after landing, they all got off and the reborn trainers recalled their dragons. "Wow, that was rather exciting actually," Cynthia said, "I actually need a moment to settle down from the rush."
"Yes, I-" Kenny said, but stopped short when someone came running out of the nearby Pokémon Center.
"Team Scorn struck in Circhester!" the random citizen screamed after running out of the Pokémon Center, "It's on breaking news! They attacked a restaurant there and stole something!"
The reborn trainers and Cynthia were all alarmed to hear what had happened. They rushed into the Pokémon Center and were able to catch the tailend of an emergency news broadcast where, to their worry, a news reporter stood outside of Bob's Your Uncle over in Circhester. "Did anyone see what the news report on Team Scorn over in Circhester said?" Dawn asked.
A mid-teens girl who looked like she got off of a shift for a part-time cafe job came up. "I did. Apparently a bunch of Team Scorn members busted into the resraurant and stole an old tapestry that was hanging in the back of the main dining area."
Now the reborn trainers and Cynthia were alarmed; Team Scorn had attacked Bob's Your Uncle, stormed the place, and stole the tapestry in the back, a tapestry that's connected to the legend of Zacian and Zamazenta. This was a telling sign that Team Scorn was indeed in the business of going after the legendary Pokémon of the Galar region. "Did the news mention any specific persons?" Dawn asked.
"The news reporter mentioned that someone caught the names of the girls leading the attack," the mid-teens girl said, "Captain Rio who apparently is the Fourth Captain of the sector of Team Scorn she belongs to, and a girl named Umeka who was identified as Rio's Captain's Assistant."
Pounding a fist into his hand, Kenny said, "Alright, we need to bring this to the attention of others."
"I'm pretty sure other people are aware of what happened already," Trip said, "I mean, it is breaking news."
"Guys, we need to head to the vaults here in Hammerlocke with the other tapestries," Mina said, "If Team Scorn knew about the one in Circhester, who's to say that they won't know about the ones here in Hammerlocke?"
"If the local gym leader in Hammerlocke is available, then we'll need to talk to him about this," Dawn remarked, "Hopefully Raihan won't be too busy."
Cynthia nodded in agreement with Dawn. "Given that there's been a Team Scorn attack in Circhester, and evidnece there suggests there may be an attack of a similar nature here in Hammerlocke, I'm certain this Raihan fellow will be willing to hear us out if he's a person of notable authority around here." The reborn trainers and Cynthia then dashed out of the Pokémon Center that they were in, and rushed to the Hammerlocke Gym, hoping to catch Raihan there. Cynthia had to let Dawn and the others lead the way as she had no idea where the Hammerlocke gym was located.
...
Luckily for the reborn trainers and Cynthia, they found Riahan at his gym. "Yeah, I just saw that emergency news report out of Circhester," Raihan said, his tone and expression grim, "I've already made a call to beef up security for the vault where the old tapestries are kept. If Team Scorn is willing to go full force on a restaurant of all places, then who knows what they'll do to break into the vault?"
"Can we at least get in to see the tapestries?" Cynthia asked, "I believe that they are connected to the lore of the legendary Pokémon of the Galar region."
Raihan had a surprised, curious look on his face. "Legendary Pokémon of the Galar region, huh? You don't think that Team Scorn may be chasing after them, do you?"
"Given what happened in Circhester, it's a very distinct possibility," Dawn replied. Eventually, Raihan agreed and showed the reborn trainers and Cynthia to the vault where the tapestries are kept. The first showed two young men under a red and white cloud that had a trail going down to them, the second showed the same men under a red and black cloud as fires and soldiers were behind them, the third showed the two men again but this time they raised a sword and a shield against the red and black cloud, and the fourth showed the men again but each wore crowns and there was a castle in the background.
Stepping forward to look at the tapestries more closelt, Cynthia said, "I saw a statue back in Motostoke that's connected to the legend, but it was a statue of a lone hero with a sword and a shield. The tapestries suggest that there are two heroes rather than one."
Gesturing to Cynthia, Raihan said, "Yeah, I saw the statue you're talking about. I think it's in the lobby of a hotel near the Motostoke gym." Folding his arms over his chest, Raihan asked, "But what makes you guys suspect that Team Scorn may be in the business of going after the legendary Pokémon of Galar?"
"Back in Unova," Dawn began to explain, "Team Scorn was able to carry out plans that resulted in the Boss's Assistant capturing the legendary Pokémon Reshiram. It wasn't until events in Alola where the Boss's Assistant was temporarily captured by authorities that Reshiram was taken from her and released back into the wild. After that had occurred, I caught Reshiram myself."
Raihan had a grim look on his face. "Yeah, I heard how Team Scorn had used Reshiram for all sorts of nasty business, mostly in Kalos. Thank goodness it's out of their hands now." Looking to the reborn trainers, Raihan went on, "So it may be possible that Team Scorn is aiming to collect the legendary Pokémon of Galar so that the Boss's Assistant can get some replacements for Reshiram?"
Nodding once, Dawn said, "That is a theory, yeah. Team Scorn may be after at least one of them to join Ayane's party. It would give them the ability to bring something to the table against me, Kenny, and Trip."
There was a look of serious contemplation on Raihan's face. "...We may need to get Leon in on this to help up. As much as it irks me as I still haven't scored a win against Leon, we'll need his help. Him being the Champion of Galar will also help speed things up and smooth out the path before us."
"Oh, speaking of Leon," Cynthia said, "I saw his televised exhibition battle against Dawn. Even with what all Dawn has now, I'm still a little surprised she scored a win against someone of Leon's reputation."
"Yeah, not gonna lie," Raihan said, "I'm kind of salty Dawn had beaten me to the punch on being the first to defeat Leon. I may try to work myself up to be strong enough to defeat Dawn so I can get some vengeance there for it."
Dawn offered Raihan an amused smirk. "Well maybe if we meet in the World Coronation Series for a ba-"
*THOOM*
Dawn was cut off when she and everyone else in the vault heard some explosions occurring outside in the city proper of Hammerlocke. "Hammerlocke's under attack?" Raihan swore, "Oh hell no, it's on now!" Raihan then ran out of the vault, prompting the reborn trainers and Cynthia to run after him.
Out in the city proper of Hammerlocke, the heroes saw that multiple Team Scorn grunts were milling about the place. "Team Scorn really is up to some serious business here in Hammerlocke," Trip said, "We need to fight them off!"
"Well I do have some rust that I need to shake off," Cynthia said, "This may be sufficient exercise to help with that." The heroes then broke off into multiple groups to go contend with the influx of Team Scorn members; Cynthia went off alone in one direction, Raihan went off alone in another, Dawn and Trip went off as a sibling team in another direction, and lastly Kenny and Mina went off in another direction as a battle couple.
Kenny and Mina were running along when suddenly Kenny stopped short, grabbing Mina by her left shoulder to make her stop. "That chick over there," Kenny said, "She's wearing a unique Team Scorn outfit! That means she's either an Officer or an Admin's Assistant!"
Mina then focused on the girl Kenny pointed out to her; the girl wore a yellow leather helmet that looked like the kind old pilots wore while flying planes, she wore round lensed glasses with yellow frames, a yellow vest over a dark blue turtleneck, a pair of yellow leather gloves, and dark blue pants that went into her yellow leather boots with dark blue soles and toes. The thighs of her pants were puffed up a bit but the shins weren't as loose. The uniquely dressed Team Scorn girl was accompanied by a female Team Scorn grunt dressed in the standard uniform, but this grunt had pink hair it twin long pigtails that were on the sides of her head.
Pointing at the uniquely dressed Team Scorn girl, Kenny said, "You, uniquely dressed Team Scorn member! I can tell by your outfit that you're a person of note in Team Scorn! No doubt you're the one leading the execution of the discount dastardly deeds being done here!"
The uniquely dressed Team Scorn girl, as well as the female grunt with her, both turned to face Kenny and Mina. "Yeah, I'm the one leading this mission," said the uniquelty dressed Team Scorn girl, "I'm Rio, Fourth Captain of Team Scorn's Headphones Sector." Gesturing to the female grunt next to her, the now identified Rio went on, "And this here is my Captain's Assistant, Umeka." Pointing to Kenny and Mina, Rio said, "If you and everyone else here in Hammerlocke who would otherwise try to be heroes would just play nice and let me and my company here take what we came for, that'd be grand."
"Fat chance!" Mina scowled, "You and your fellows in Team Scorn can munch my butt!" Tossing up a Pokéball, Mina called out, "Go, Jolteon!" Coming out to battle against the Pokémon of Team Scorn was Mina's shiny Jolteon.
"Okay, Zarbon!" Kenny said as he sent out his named Machamp, "Let's make it cringe!"
"Go, Rufflet!" Rio said as she sent out her first Pokémon which turned out to be a Rufflet.
"Go, Meowth!" Umeka called out as she sent out, to the mildly piqued interest of Kenny and Mina, an Alolan Meowth.
Getting right into battle, Mina called out, "Jolteon, use Thunderbolt on Rufflet!"
"Zarbon, use Dynamic Punch on Meowth!" Kenny called out.
"Rufflet, use Peck on Machamp!" Rio ordered.
"Meowth, use Bite on Jolteon!" Umeka commanded.
The melee among the Pokémon went off, and Jolteon with its superior speed outran everyone else and blasted Rufflet with a Thunderbolt, taking it out before it had a chance to peck at Zarbon's pecs. As for the named Machamp himself, he slugged the enemy Alolan Meowth square in the face, sending it flying back until it hit a wall nearby and being knocked out as a result. Rio and Umeka were then forced to recall their fainted Pokémon so that they could send out their next ones, a Braviary from Rio and a Dunsparce from Umeka.
Pointing forward, Rio said, "Braviary, use Aerial Ace on Machamp!"
"Dunsparce, use Headbutt on Jolteon!" Umeka called out.
"Zarbon, use Cross Chop on Dunsparce!" Kenny ordered.
"Jolteon, use Thunderbolt on Braviary!" Mina commanded.
The second round of the battle went off, but it not only ended same as the first but saw Kenny and Mina defeat Rio and Umeka; Jolteon's Thunderbolt took out Braviary before it could hit Zarbon, and Zarbon's Cross Chop not only defeated Dunsparce but did so by scoring a lucky critical hit. The two girls of Team Scorn were forced to call back their fainted Pokémon, and when Kenny pressed the matter Rio said, "Me and Umeka are both out of Pokémon. You would-be heroes admittedly won the battle here today, loath as I am to say so."
"Woot!" Mina cheered, pumping both of her fists into the air, "I just scored my first win against a member of Team Scorn who's above the peon level!"
Umeka arched a wry eyebrow at Mina. "...You seem awfully happy, considering that the success you're celebrating it over dealing with a distraction."
Mina's eyes, as well as Kenny's, widened in shocked realization; suddenly, an explosive sounded out from the direction the tapestry vaults were in. Kenny and his girlfriend both turned to see a trail of black smoke rise from where the tapestry vault is located, then they heard someone shout out, "We got the tapestries from that vault! We can clear out of here now!"
Rio smirked in amusement. "Don't think that beating us in battle means you've prevented us from succeeding in our goals." Rio and Umeka then took out smoke grenades and threw them to the ground, creating a mass cloud of sight obscuring smoke. Many other Team Scorn members did the same, and as such all of Team Scorn in Hammerlocke ended up escaping. Many of them were defeated in battle yes, and none of the heroic trainers who fought against them saw so much as one Pokémon of theirs go down in the fighting.
But the loss of the tapestries kept in the Hammerlocke vault, the lot of them historical artifacts of indescribable cultural and historical importance to the people of the Galar region, meant that the defending heroic trainers suffered more of a loss than the members of Team Scorn in Hammerlocke that day. After everyone was accounted for when Raihan ran a headcount, he scowled in bitter frustration. It would later turn out that the one person who had thought to keep an eye on the tapestries in the Hammerlocke vault was overwhelmed and knocked out by the Team Scorn members who broke in to steal the tapestries. So the tapestries weren't left totally without any protection.
Just... not enough.
...
As the reborn trainers and Cynthia met up with Raihan after he reported things to the proper authorities, Dawn saw that the Hammerlocke gym leader had a greatly troubled look on his face. "So how did it go?"
"Galar government officials are beyond pissed that the tapestries in the Hammerlocke Vault were all stolen," Raihan said, "And one older government official got so mad that it made him have to go to the hospital as it made an ulcer he has act up. Another Galar government official even called for me to have my status as the gym leader of the Hammerlocke gym revoked, although only the Galar Pokémon League Commission is the only authority with the power to actually remove me as a gym leader, and their word on the matter is that as the theft of the tapestries has no relation to the Galar League, they won't to jack to remove me."
"Well at least the powers that be who do have such authority over you feel that you didn't do anything to mess up badly enough to warrant your removal from your position," Kenny said. Snapping his fingers, Kenny went on, "Still, the loss of those tapestries is a long and hard pain in the fanny."
"MAAAAAAACHAAAAAAAMP!" Zarbon cried out in a tone of aroused, sensual pleasure.
"Still, we've got to do something to ensure that Team Scorn won't be able to pull off such schemes in the future," Cynthia said, "Maybe look into locations here in Galar also connected to the legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta. Team Scorn may strike in those locations, so it'd be a good idea to set up guards in said locations to either prevent Team Scorn's evil or catch them in the act by catching them by surprise."
Arching a wry eyebrow, Trip said, "That... is actually a good idea. We'll need to cooperate with various persons here in Galar to arrange protection for said locations, but if it can keep Team Scorn from succeeding in getting more on the legend, then so much the better."
"There's that statue in the lobby of the hotel in Motostoke," Kenny said, "And I think there's also a big drawing in the field in Turffield."
Cynthia nodded in confirmation. "The Turffield Geoglyph. Yes, I know what you speak of Kenny, although I fail to see how Team Scorn can steal it. Regardless, it's connected to the legend of Galar, so some security ought to be arranged for it. There's also a mural of historical importance to Galar over in Stow-on-side, so that ought to be protected too."
"The mural in Stow-on-side and the Turffield Geoglyph are popular tourist attractions here in Galar," Raihan pointed out, "If we arrange security for them there will be a lot of screening before people are allowed to visit them. It may get a tad annoying for some tourists."
Cynthia nodded in agreement. "I understand completely. Nonetheless, we need to do what all we can to protect places and objects of historical importance to Galar from the evil of Team Scorn, because if they succeed in getting their desired end goal here then who knows what all will happen as a result?"
Nodding once, Kenny said, "Yeah. It's bad enough that Team Scorn has pulled off what all they've done up to this point. The last thing that we need right now if for them to succeed in pulling off even more. We especially can't afford to let Team Scorn pull off capturing a major legendary Pokémon. Just look at what all they were able to do when Ayane caught Reshiram before it was taken from her, released back into the wild, and then Dawn caught it afterwards. Imagine if they succeed in capturing Zacian or Zamazenta, or maybe something worse!"
Cynthia looked grim and worried at the same time. "Indeed, Kenny. It would be a major disaster if Team Scorn were to... umm..." Cynthia stopped short when she noticed the look of bizarre confusion on Raihan's face. "Is... is something the matter, Raihan?" Cynthia asked.
Raihan pointed to Kenny's named Machamp while saying, "Kenny's Machamp is shaking his butt while squatting with his hands on his knees." Everyone turned to look and saw it as Zarbon the Machamp was twerking nearby.
"Heh heh, yeah," Kenny laughed as everyone saw Zarbon work that twerk, "That's one-hundred percent Zarbon right there."
The reborn trainers and Cynthia eventually made their way to the hotel in Motostoke with the hero statue in the lobby. The lot of them looked up at the statue, which showed a single armored hero with a sword and a shield. "Other evidence suggests that there were two heroes of Galar rather than one," Cynthia said, "But even so this statue ties heavily to the legend. We ought to look into getting security arranged for it."
"That... may be something you'll have to do alone for at least a bit, Cynthia," Dawn said, "I actually got a call from Roark, the gym leader in Oreburgh City."
"Oh, I remember Roark," Cynthia said, "Wait, I heard that he's getting married soon."
Dawn nodded once in the affirmative. "Yes, and to Maylene, the former Veilstone City gym leader. And that's why Roark called me." To the group as a whole, Dawn said, "Roark and Maylene's wedding is in a few days. Trip, Kenny, Mina, and I will rest the night here, then first thing in the morning we'll catch the next flight back to Sinnoh so that we can attend the wedding."
"Oh my goodness, that sounds wonderful for Roark and Maylene," Cynthia said, "Can you tell them I wish them the best of luck together?"
Dawn, with a small but sincere smile, nodded once in agreement. "Are there any precautions we ought to take?" Kenny asked.
"I already took care of the one main issue Maylene will be concerned about," Dawn replied, "As a side-note and completely unrelated topic, I got it that Paul is going to be in Unova for the next week and a half two two weeks because he heard a lot of trainers competing in the World Coronatrion Series are in Unova." Although Cynthia fully bought it that the mentioning of Paul the former jerk-wad was unrelated, the other reborn trainers could tell full well the mentioning of Paul was totally related. Trip felt that Dawn called Paul to make sure he wouldn't be anywhere near the wedding of Roark and Maylene, due to how Maylene feels about Paul.
Clapping his hands together, Trip asked, "Wait, weren't Ash and Brock invited to the wedding when it happened?"
"Yes and Roark when I asked him about it confirmed both Ash and Brock will be coming," Dawn replied, "Roark also said that Ash was bringing his new friend Goh."
"Isn't Goh, like, a lunch monitor?" Kenny asked.
Dawn merely laughed and shrugged off Kenny's brand of silliness. Although the heroes were crushed that they failed to protect the tapestries from being stolen, they felt better because they had the excitement of attending a wedding to get to. One could only hope that the festivities will be able to properly ring in the union of Roark and Maylene as husband and wife. Trip also remembered that Roark's dad Byron was going to pony up a lot of the money to cover expenses, but he kept quiet on why Byron was being so generous.
END, CHAPTER TWO-HUNDRED AND FIFTY
Author's notes;
This chapter covers the appearance of the first pair of Captain and Captain's Assistant from Team Scorn's Headphones Sector in the story. Rio and Umeka go down easy enough in battle to Kenny and Mina, but they were a distraction to help with the successful theft of the tapestries kept in the Hammerlocke Vault, similar to how the one tapestry in Bob's Your Uncle over in Circhster was also stolen. Team Scorn is playing hardball here, and the heroes suspect that it's because Team Scorn is aiming to get a new major legendary for Ayane to use.
But that concern is put on hold for the time being, as the reborn trainers are making plans to return to Sinnoh as Roark's wedding to Maylene is coming up fast. It'll be a sweet event where two people become bonded to one another in soul and spirit. It'll also see the reborn trainers meet up with Ash and Brock, also Goh is going to be there. As a side-note, no Goh does not yet know that Dawn has Mew, and it completely slipped Oak's mind because Dawn, Trip, and Kenny have gotten so many other awesome Pokémon that Mew doesn't stand out as much as it would have otherwise.
But that's not here or there. Anyway, the reborn trainers will be in Sinnoh in the next chapter for the wedding of Roark and Maylene. A character who appeared before in the story will also show up at the wedding because he's looking to challenge Kenny to a battle for the World Coronation Series, but he will respectfully back down, and even apologize, when it's explained to him that there's a wedding going on and Kenny who's a guest at the wedding can't accept the challenge. But who said character will end up being is something you'll have to wait to see. Until then, take care.
