The Varden have usurped the throne from Galbatorix, and Eragon has left Alagaësia. The riders are returning, and the Imperial army on the run. Along with this a new evil has risen. Two cousins/best friends(when they aren't arguing) somehow end up in Alagaesia, in the middle of a war between dragons and elves. Could it get any worse? They end up teaming up with a young elf named Eragon. Together the three with their dragons must stop the war before the war brings about the extinction of both sides. A century after Galbatorix was defeated the Riders thrive. As new Riders are chosen secrets are exposed. As eggs go missing and a new, dangerous, dragon-riding enemy appears, new discoveries are made of the valley where the Riders began again.

Their ten-year separation has affected Eragon and Arya in equally uncomfortable and exactly opposite ways. While she is constantly cold, he is always miserably hot. When Arya realizes her feelings have deepened over the years, she makes the difficult decision that will forever change her life, allowing her and Eragon to find healing and happiness. Contains a few mature love scenes.

A continuation of the events from Legacy of Darkness. Nasuada and the Varden continue their bold campaign. Eragon has to choose between two truths. Murtagh, now an exile, must choose a path. Arya struggles to accept her nature as a Dragon Rider while the Varden constantly exploit her abilities. New alliances are forged, and old ones are broken.

Eragon is searching the Rock of Kuthian, Galbatorix wreaks havoc in Feinster and the Black Hand uses this opportunity to infiltrate among the Varden's ranks. FINISHED WORK!
