Here's chapter two of PokéChristmas 3. Originally I wanted Buneary's entire family to be introduced here but this went too long so I'll be saving them for the next chapter.
Things to Think about
Pikachu widened his eyes. "Wait, what…?"
"My family is coming over tomorrow and spending Christmas with us. Isn't that exciting?!" Buneary beamed.
Pikachu had met Buneary's family back before they had started dating and they're all really nice…except for one of them.
First, there's Buneary's mother, she's a Lopunny and his mother-in-law. She's very kind, sweet, elegant, and beautiful. It was obvious that she was the one who had given her daughters their looks…especially Buneary.
Then there was Buneary's older sister; Ava. She's also a Lopunny but her fluff is pink. Just like her mom, she's also kind, sweet, elegant, and beautiful but just like Buneary, she knows how to throw a punch.
Then there's Ava's husband who's a Cinderace from the Galar region named Flint. He's a carefree, energetic, and caring guy plus he's an expert kicker.
The two also have three daughters: two bunearys and a scorbunny named Mia, Emma, and Blaze.
Mia is the oldest of the three girls. She's four years old and talks an awful lot for such a young Pokémon. She has the personality of her mother but she can also be pushy and get pretty loud.
Emma is the middle child. She's three years old and just like her mother, her fluff is pink too. She's a sweet little girl, but it concerns Pikachu that she wants to be just like Mia. That girl is literally Emma's idol.
Blaze is the youngest. She's two years old and Pikachu likes her best because she's easier to manage than the older ones. It could also be because she doesn't seem to want to take after either Mia or Emma. In fact, she's obsessed with Buneary, who in turn loves it and thinks it's the greatest thing ever. Pikachu could tell that every time Blaze wants Buneary's attention, her eyes light up.
Now that he thinks about it, maybe Blaze is the reason why Buneary really wants to have a baby in the worst way. Still, he couldn't blame her, Blaze is extremely adorable after all! She's almost always smiling and is usually so cheerful.
And finally there was Buneary's father, a Lucario and his father-in-law. He's an imposing and extremely intimidating Pokémon who often gets Pikachu nervous. Pikachu often assumes that's where Buneary and Ava get their fire from…especially Buneary. Pikachu could definitely see the resemblance.
Admittedly, there are times when Pikachu and Lucario don't have the best relationship…in fact, they don't get along well at all, mainly Lucario. He simply did not approve of Pikachu and was always so hellbent on tearing the mouse down. To this day, Pikachu still didn't know why he is always treated so badly and picked on by his father-in-law.
"Uhh, yeah…that's quite exciting. But…should your dad…really come over? I mean the rest of your family can come but…your dad…?" Pikachu hesitantly asked.
Buneary sighed. She was very aware that her dad and Pikachu don't always get along with each other and she herself didn't know why her father is always hellbent on berating her husband. She just wished that he would appreciate and approve of him. After all, she loved Pikachu more than she could ever imagine loving anyone else.
"They'll only be here until January. Pikachu, I know you and dad don't have the best relationship with each other…but can you please grin, bear it and…maybe…get along with him for once? For me?" Buneary pleaded.
Pikachu also sighed. "Okay, Buneary. But I'm only doing this for you because I love you more than anything. Even more than ketchup." He said with a reassuring smile.
Buneary laughed and hugged him tightly.
"That's the sweetest thing you've ever said." She giggled.
Pikachu hugged her back and Buneary started snuggling into him. Suddenly, she stopped.
"Oh…" She muttered, gasping a little and wincing.
Pikachu stopped hugging her and curiously looked at his wife. "Buneary, are you okay?"
"Uh, yeah." Buneary muttered, giving him a nod. "I'm fine."
"What happened?" Blissey asked.
"It's nothing really." Buneary said as she shook her head. "Just…got a little nauseous for a second. It's gone now though."
But she was unfortunately wrong. Immediately, she started getting nauseous again and this time it was getting worse. She started groaning, clutched her suddenly sore stomach, and breathed in deeply, trying to rid herself of a wave of nausea.
Pikachu looked at her very concerned. "Are you doing alright?"
"I'm okay…" Buneary muttered.
Suddenly she covered her mouth and quickly went into the bathroom, closing the door behind herself. As soon as reached the toilet, she started profusely vomiting.
From the bedroom, Pikachu and Blissey could hear her, which only served to worry Pikachu even more. He went towards the bathroom door and knocked. "Are you doing okay, hon?"
"Just peachy Pi-" She replied before vomiting once again. "…I'll be right out after this!"
"O-Okay." Pikachu said.
He turned to Blissey and gave a concerned look. "You don't think she's getting sick right? I don't want her to be like this on Christmas, especially when her family comes tomorrow. I-I don't want them to think she's sick. Especially her dad, I really don't want him to blame me for that." He said, looking back at the door.
"Don't worry, Pikachu. Tomorrow I'll check to see what's making her feel nauseous and I'll give her some medicine." Blissey reassured.
Pikachu sighed in relief and smiled. "Thanks, Blissey. You're the best."
Blissey smiled back.
"You're welcome. By the way, I think you'll be fine when Buneary's family comes over tomorrow. Especially her dad." She gently said.
In response to that, Pikachu gave it some thought.
"Yeah. I think you're right. I shouldn't be worried about anything. Hopefully, Buneary gets better before they come over. In fact, I shouldn't be scared of her dad at all." He confidently declared.
Blissey gave him an amused look. "Are you sure, Pikachu?"
Pikachu nodded and confidently crossed his arms.
"I am very sure."
Later that night
"No I'm not. No I'm not. No I'm not. NO I'M NOT!" Pikachu quietly said to himself, panic growing with each passing moment. He's the only one who hadn't fallen asleep yet, Buneary having done so earlier, no longer feeling nauseous…for now anyway.
Pikachu couldn't stop thinking about tomorrow. It wasn't like it's a bad thing that Buneary's family is coming over, it's actually really exciting because they get to come stay for Christmas. It's just that he has to spend Christmas with…him. THAT was the real cause of his worry.
After a little while however, he started thinking about what Buneary said about having a family. To be honest, when he and Buneary started dating and got married, he had never thought about having one, though that would be something very great for them indeed.
He had lots of experience with kids before like Togetic when he was a Togepi, Blissey when she was a Happiny, his friends' kids, and Buneary's nieces. So it wouldn't be surprising if he's good at taking care of his own child. But the biggest question that still kept bugging him is…will he even be that good of a parent?
That thought kept him up until he finally went to sleep.
The next day arrived. Morning time has come. The sun was shining bright on this wintery day.
The morning light shone on Pikachu's face. He sternly tried to move away from the light hitting his face and covered himself with the covers of his sheets. Unfortunately, the sheets were thin so instead he looked to his left and noticed that Buneary was gone.
Maybe she went to the kitchen to have breakfast. Pikachu thought.
"Well since I'm up, I might as well start the day and get it over with." Pikachu grumbled as he got off the bed and left the bedroom.
As he went downstairs to the kitchen, he saw Buizel, Chimchar, Pachirisu, and Piplup sitting at the table. They all look tired, especially Pachirisu and Piplup.
"Morning guys." The others look at him.
"Morning Pikachu!" Piplup smiled.
"Hey Pikachu! How are you?" Chimchar asked.
"Alright…I slept pretty fine last night." Pikachu said as he grabbed an apple from the fruit bowl.
"Are you sure?" Piplup asked, clearly not convinced.
Pikachu sighed as he took a bite of his apple before grabbing a chair and sat between Buizel and Piplup. "Well…last night I was up all night thinking about…a lot of things."
That definitely got their attention and they all silently stared at him.
"What do you mean?" Piplup, Pachirisu, Buizel, and Chimchar said altogether.
Pikachu smiled. "Well to start with some exciting news, Buneary's family will be coming over today for Christmas."
"Wow! That is exciting!" Pachirisu excitedly said. "I really liked meeting Buneary's entire family."
Everyone nodded with agreement and smiled.
Pikachu however, frowned. "But there's one…specific thing…that doesn't make me excited about."
The others went silent. They knew what he meant. Just like Buneary, they don't know why Buneary's dad is always hellbent on berating the poor mouse.
"Is it because you're going to have to spend Christmas with her dad?" Buizel asked.
Pikachu's ears drooped and he kept his frown.
"Buizel!" Pachirisu scolded.
"It's alright Pachirisu. It's fine. But yeah, that's one big part I'm not excited about." Pikachu gently said.
"Don't worry, Pikachu. I think you'll be fine." Chimchar assured him.
Pachirisu nodded her head in agreement. "Chimchar's right! There's no need to worry. Just try not to think about what's about to happen and focus on the present."
Buizel also nodded his head. "Yeah, Pikachu. Just forget about the fact that Buneary's dad hates you, picks on you, tears you down, and most of all, thinks that you're not good enough for her daughter."
Pikachu sank down in his chair. His ears drooped down even more and his frown only grew.
"You sure have a way to cheer him up don't you?" Pachirisu sarcastically said and narrowed her eyes at her husband.
"What? I never met your dad. He would probably never approve of me so I think I'm fine." Buizel said.
Pachirisu still kept her eyes narrowed. "You HAVE met my father before. Remember? He and my mom came to visit us and met our kids for the first time? And both of them didn't approve of you until they saw how much of a good dad and husband you were."
Buizel took a moment to think about it before it hit him. "Ohhh! Now I remember."
Pachirisu quietly laughed. She honestly loved it when her husband gets a dumb attack.
"But I am good enough for Buneary! I love her more than anything! Her mom and sister thought I was good enough for her and approved of me. Even Buneary's nieces thought so too. They said that we were meant for each other." Pikachu depressingly sighed. "I just wish he would appreciate me and accepted me as his son-in-law."
Piplup leaned over to pat Pikachu's back with her flipper. "Don't worry Pikachu, everything will turn out fine. They won't be here until later in the day. I'm sure one day you and her dad will finally get along with each other. We're all here for you."
Pikachu gave a slight smile. "Thanks Piplup."
Suddenly, they heard footsteps from upstairs. They looked over and saw that it was Buneary coming down. She looked absolutely tired and miserable.
The others noticed her appearance and nearly gasped.
"You alright, Buneary? You looked tired." Chimchar said
In response, she looked at him with an angry glare on her face. "Shut up." She growled.
"Are you okay, Buneary?" Pachirisu asked.
Buneary sighed. "I've been throwing up a lot lately. I woke up at four-thirty A.M. feeling nauseous again and stayed in the bathroom all night long…gosh I'm so tired."
"Again?" Pachirisu confusedly asked.
"Yeah last night she started to feel nauseous." Pikachu remarked.
"Thanks for telling them, Pikachu." Buneary angrily grumbled.
"Are you feeling any better?" Buizel asked.
Buneary slowly nodded. "Yeah…I think so." She said before going into the living room and laid on the couch. "I just need…some sleep…" She muttered before yawning "…for now." She said before closing her eyes and soon started to snore.
"I think she forgot about her family coming today." Buizel said quietly to the others.
Unfortunately the poor bunny heard him clear as day because her eyes suddenly opened very wide. "TODAY?!" She shrieked before suddenly standing up from the couch. "I COMPLETELY FORGOT! We have to tidy the house and bring out a couple of beds for my family to sleep in!"
"What about your nieces? Where will they sleep?" Piplup asked.
Buneary took a moment to think about it. Her nieces do need somewhere for them to crash.
Suddenly, Pikachu got an idea. "Why don't they sleep in the kids room? Like Mia and Emma can sleep in Casey's room and Blaze can sleep in Ember's room."
Buneary too thought about it for a bit. "You know what? Yeah I think they should." She beamed before looking at Piplup and Pachirisu. "Your daughters won't mind if my nieces sleep in their room?"
"Yeah sure, Casey won't mind having roommates." Pachirisu said.
"But for Ember, me and Chimchar are going to have to talk to her about sharing her room with someone." Piplup said.
"Sounds good enough for me." Buneary said with a smile.
"Well everyone, let's get ready for her family to arrive!" Chimchar declared.
Everyone nodded in response before leaving to get started on tidying up the house, leaving Pikachu and Buneary alone.
"Are you still excited about this?" Buneary asked as she turned to him.
Pikachu smiled at her. "Of course I am. It's great that they're coming here for Christmas. It's just that I…" He managed to say before Buneary interrupted him and gently held his arms in her paws.
"Don't be nervous, Pikachu. This will be fun. They love me and they love you too…and I won't let dad pick on you."
Immediately, Pikachu felt an immense happiness wash over him. "Thanks hon." He beamed before he took another bite of his apple. "Would you like a bite?" He asked, offering the fruit.
"That's sweet of you. I would love to!" She giggled, taking the apple. Just when she was about to take a bite, she suddenly started feeling nauseous again. "Uh oh." She weakly said.
"What's wrong?"
"Damn it. I think I need to go again!" She cried out before immediately giving Pikachu the apple back. She covered her mouth and zipped away to quickly find a bathroom.
Immediately, Pikachu felt a wave of concern flow through him. I really hope she doesn't get sick. I don't want her parents to get worried about getting sick themselves. I was worried before but now… Pikachu thought before sadly sighing. "I'm still not excited to spend Christmas with my father-in-law."
Author's Notes:
Looks like we're going to meet her family soon. Especially her dad. Are you excited, Pikachu?
Pikachu (frowning): Not really.
Me: You'll be fine. Hopefully Buneary gets better from the throwing up.
Also I would like to give a shout out to Carson55 and his Pikachu and Buneary fanfic "About Her". And thanking him for helping me with the writing and pointing out some spelling errors.
