Secret Origins Part 1 – Power Princess
Gotham City, March19h, 2005
Her name was Mara. She was an Amazon, one who abandoned Themyscira because she had fallen in love. Only recently was her husband lost, and now her life was in danger. Carrying her infant daughter, her young Adora, in her arms, she ran through the alleyways of Gotham City. Her pursuer was traveling just as quickly, using the shadows to track her.
No Matter what happened, she was not going to allow her pursuer to take Adora, she was going to find a place to protect her. Even if it cost her life. The figure lunged at her from a shadow and Mara landed a solid kick on their face, quickly drawing her sword and driving it into the figure's leg, pinning them into the wall. As she turned to run however, they had wrenched the sword free and threw it into her back. She shielded her infant close to her as she hit the pavement, bleeding.
The Shadowy figure approached her. "Mara, you know your child is special." they hissed. "Hand her over to me now, and I'll make it quick..."
Mara gritted her teeth and glared at the figure. "She is not your to claim. I will die before I lose her." she replied.
The figure scoffed and closed in to finish the job...until a gunshot was heard. Looking up, the figure saw someone standing at the end of the alleyway, holding a smoking revolver. "Step away from her!" He shouted, clicking back the hammer. The figure quickly retreated as he unloaded his pistol at them.
Mara smiled, and looked over at the man, slowly beginning to slip out of consciousness. The man ran over to her, and examined her. "Miss, I'm going to have to ask you to keep still, don't try to move." he said. Through her hazy vision, she made out a young man in his thirties, dressed in a coat and jeans. The man was Blond with a short goatee, and hazel colored eyes. She moved slightly, and showed him the child in her arms. "Stay with me miss, please. I'm with the GCPD, I can call for help!" he reiterated showing his badge, which said Nolan Matthews.
She slowly shook her head. "It's too late for me. Please….protect my daughter... her name is Adora Randor." She said through pained gasps, handing him the infant. "She's.. half Amazon." she calmly explained, coughing up blood.
"Amazon? You mean like Wonder Woman?" he said in disbelief. Mara nodded and reached for her child.
"She's only 2 months old." She said stroking her cheek. "Adora….my sweet Adora… be safe...be strong." Slowly, her hand slipped away and she went limp, passing away in the Alley. Adora cried in Nolan's arms as it began to rain, so he held the child close to shield her, and called 911. Perhaps the GCPD could get that bat-freak to find Wonder Woman? He assumed that two heroes would know one another. At the very least, he'd see that the mysterious woman would be given a proper funeral.
14 Years Later:
Adora walked with her friend Catra after school, headed home. "I'm telling you Catra, I'm getting stronger every day. I took out the trash yesterday and I almost threw it over the house!" she said, both in shock and excitement.
Catra Kyle was a strange one. She was a fairly short cat girl. Not like Catwoman, more along the lines of the Super-villain Cheetah. She was covered head to toe in chestnut fur, had mismatched eyes, one gold and one blue, cat ears, a cat tail, and even had claws. Her long, wild brown hair ran down her back and she never wore shoes. She claimed they were very uncomfortable on her toe claws. She would acrt like a cat sometimes. Currently she was wearing jeans torn in the knee area, and a red colored Tank top, also slightly torn. She sometimes drew surprised glances from people she'd never met before, but considering the world they were living in, most people just shrugged her off rather quickly. After all, a Cat person isn't much weirder than almost half of the Justice League.
Adora Matthews on the other hand had grown into a fairly tall young woman. Her blond hair was styled into her usual Ponytail, and her eyes were as blue as her mother's. She wore a short sleeved jacket, beige jeans, a white undershirt, and red sneakers.
Catra gave off her usual laugh. "I mean, I can believe it. For crying out loud, you kicked the soccer ball THROUGH the net at gym the other day. I coulda sworn it was on fire!" she said.
Adora rubbed the back of her head nervously. "You think I'm a meta too?" she asked her longtime friend.
"Well you always WERE weird Adora." Catra giggled as she shoved Adora's arm.
"This coming from Catwoman's kitten. Named CATra" Adora deadpanned, prompting Catra to look flustered.
"Hey, it's not that big of a deal. Besides, I picked the name when I was like, three." she replied, rubbing her head nervously as Adora caught sight of her wrist.
Adora grimaced. "Catra...where did you get that watch?"
Catra meeped, noticing the gold watch she was wearing. "I uh….found it?" she lied.
Adora shook her head, "Catra you realize the only reason you and your mom have avoided jail time is she knows Batman right?" she said concerned. "My Dad's a cop, I really don't wanna have to keep covering for you. You have GOT to stop stealing."
Catra waved her off. "Not my fault I'm a good cat burglar." She quipped, prompting Adora to give an annoyed look.
"Cat Puns….are you SERIOUS?" she deadpanned.
"I couldn't resist Adora. Don't expect any more." Catra replied with a smirk.
Adora laughed a bit. "Seriously though, you really should-" before she could continue scolding, there was a massive car wreck occurring right in front of them. Several cars piled up, much to the girls' horror. Adora, without even thinking, sprinted over to try and help people. She noticed a family was trapped in their overturned vehicle, and without even thinking, tore the door clean off. "Is everyone alright?!" she asked.
The mother was in a panic. "We're stuck! I don't think the roof can support the car's weight long!" she yelled out.
"Hang on!" Adora replied, looking over the car and trying to lift from the room, hoping to flip it over. Instead, she ended up lifting the ENTIRE car." W-what the…?" she thought out loud, gently setting the car down on its wheels and helping people out of it. The family thanked her profusely, and she quickly went to try and help anyone else before people got hurt.
As she emptied the last car, a screech of tires was heard as another vehicle lost control and barreled towards the accident. The driver tried to swerve but ended up rolling his car Towards Adora. She braced herself...and felt nothing. Looking up, she saw Wonder Woman had caught the car. "W-wonder Woman? What are you going in Gotham?" she asked and Diana managed to safely set the car down.
"I was here visiting Batman. Did you help all these people?" Diana asked calmly. Adora nodded, only now realizing what she had managed to do, and Catra was starting wide eyed. Diana seemed to be looking Adora over. "You look familiar, have we met, sister?" she asked.
"Uh...n-not that I remember, Miss. I th-think I'd remember meeting a member of the Justice League." Adora stammered. "M-my name's Adora….Adora Matthews."
"Adora? That is a very unique name. I apologize, you just look so much like...Mara?" Diana said, suddenly appearing very surprised.
Adora tilted her head, in confusion. "Who?"
"Nothing, I just need to look into something. Perhaps you should go home and clean up. Your clothing is a mess." Diana replied, before flying off into the sky.
Catra ran over. "Well that was weird. You alright Adora?" she asked, dusting off Adora's shoulder.
"Catra, why did Wonder Woman recognize me?" Adora asked, still processing what happened.
"Maybe you're an Amazon." Catra deadpanned, half-jokingly. "God knows your tall enough."
Adora shook her head and the two continued off to their homes.
Much later, at home, Adora changed into cleaner clothing and had explained the days events to her parents. Her mother, Hannah, and her father Nolan looked at each other worried. Their looks didn't go unnoticed by Adora. "Is...something wrong mom? Dad?"
Nolan closed the book he was reading and sighed, taking his glasses off. "Adora...there's a lot we need to tell you. Please sit down. And not matter what, just remember we love you." he calmly said. Adora did ass she was told and nervously sat down. "Adora...we're not your birth parents. I found you 14 years ago, in the arms of your dying mother, an Amazon woman." Adora's eyes widened at what he said. "She told me your name, Adora Randor, and she asked me to take care of you. Someone...someTHING was after her. I managed to drive it off but I couldn't save her."
Adora listened carefully as Nolan told her everything. She was hurt that she wasn;'t told sooner, but they still took the time to take care of her, to raise her as their own daughter. She couldn't bring herself to be angry at them for that, and gave both a hug.
"I wonder if thats why Diana recognized me...maybe she knew my mother?" Adora asked.
Nolan shrugged. "I couldn't tell you, I don't know what happened after we had your mother's body brought in.. I'm sorry we didn't tell you sooner." He said sadly.
Adora shook her head. "You're still my mom and dad. Despite me not being your child you STILL raised me and loved me like I WAS yours. I can't be angry with you." She told them, wiping her eyes and smiling. "I just wish I could have known earlier so I could ask Wonder Woman about mom."
At that moment there was a knock at the door. Adora excused herself to go answer it, and was shocked to see Diana in a civilian outfit waiting at their door. "Hello Adora. Are your parents home?"
"Y-yeah. We were just talking about you. C-come in." She said, letting Diana into the house. She walked in, to the surprised of Adora's adopted parents and looked around.
"I apologize, am I interrupting?" she asked.
"Not at all miss. We...were just telling Adora the truth." Nolan said, standing up and shaking her hand.
"She is an Amazon isn't she." Diana asked and Nolan nodded. "I thought so." Diana walked into the room and sat down, Adora sitting across from her. "I asked my mother about my hunch. Adora, your mother was an amazonian named Mara, my half-sister." Diana began, "She had left Themyscira roughly 20 years go due to disagreements with mother about our isolation. Not helped by my actions in Man's world. About 14 years ago, Batman informed me she was found dead in an alleyway in Gotham city. I was unaware she even had children." Diana explained, gently touching Adora's hand.
"Believe me Wonder Woman, this surprises me too." Adora replied.
"Please, Call me Diana." she said. "I've come here because...I want to take you under my wing." Everyone in the room was stunned. "You showed incredible capabilities today, and a desire to help others. I wish to train you as my protege. In Amazonian combat. Make you a true hero." she continued.
Hannah looked up. "This sounds Dangerous Diana." she said calmly as she could.
"It will be," Diana replied, "but I want to make sure my niece is able to protect herself. And beyond that, it'll be Adora's choice-"
"I'll do it." Adora quickly replied.
"Adora are you sure about this?" Nolan asked.
"I am. I want to know more about the Amazons, about Mom. I just hope this doesn't mean I'll have to abandon my home, or my friends." She said, looking at Diana.
Diana gave her a reassuring smile. "You won't have to. You'll still be able to live with your family, I'll just be taking you for training sessions, perhaps a few weeks back on Themyscira." she explained, "It may be hard, but I have no doubt you can accomplish much."
Two Years Later:
Giganta's rampage was quickly cut short by the arrival of Wonder Woman and her new side-kick.
Adora flew alongside Diana, dressed in her new uniform. She wore a white sleeveless shirt with gold trim, Gold shoulder-pads and bracelets, a skirt over a pair of long white pants, and White boots with Gold trim. She let her hair down more while in costume, allowing it to flow freely. She wore a tiara similar to Diana's atop her head, and carried a lasso at her side, as well as an Amazonian sword.
As Giganta attempted to swipe at the two, Adora flew circles around her legs, binding them in lasso. "Hera, give me strength!" she yelled out, pulling hard and tripping the giantess up. Giganta hit the ground with a hard THUD and was knocked out, slowly reverting to her usual size.
"Good work Adora." Diana said, flying down and trying Giganta up. "I'll make sure she's brought back to prison."
"Thank you Aunt Diana. If you don't mind, I'd like to go visit a friend." Adora said, and Diana flashes a smirk.
"Catra? Go ahead." she replied. Adora gave her a hug, and flew off towards Gotham city. Sure enough, she happened to see Catra wandering the streets, and decided to surprise her. She flew down and scooped up Catra bridal style.
Catra Yelped and saw the smug face looking at her. "Hey Adora. What's with the scare?!" she said, putting her claws away.
"Couldn't help it. Consider it payback for how often you'd jump on my back from trees." Adora replied, landed and setting the cat down.
Catra smoothed out her frazzled fur and looked Adora up and down. "Look at you, regular superhero now." she said, purring. "Whats the name? Wonder Girl?"
"Power Princess!" Adora announced, posing….before being promptly thwacked on the back of her head. "HEY!"
"You are such a dork." Catra deadpanned. "Wanna hang out? Or you gotta fly home and change?"
Adora smirked and made a swift hand motion, causing her costume to change into her casual clothing. "Ta-da! I learned a little magic from the Greek Gods." She exclaimed. Prompting a giggle from Catra. "Our usual spot?"
"Hell yeah."

Hey guys! Meet part two in my theory that SHE-RA CAN FIT IN SO MANY UNIVERSES!
As you can clearly see, this is a She-Ra characters in the DC Universe story. Unlike Joining Forces As One, this is NOT based on any singular iteration of the DCU. I will primarily be basing the characters off their DCAU counterparts, but with a bit of the comics, CW shows and live action movies tied in. For example, Wonder Woman here is her DCAU personality and costume, and has been active since World War I like in the Wonder Woman movie.
I will be going back and forth between this and Joining Forces As One, with Mystic Knights being whenever the hell I feel motivated to write it.
Anyway, this is the first part of my Secret Origins prologue series, delving into the DC iterations of various She-Ra characters, building up to the first major storyline. If you enjoyed, please leave a review ^_^
I do not own She-Ra or DC. Furthermore I have only seen the first Season of She-Ra in its entirety so please avoid spoilers in the comments? I greatly appreciate it.
And you all have a WONDERFUL day.
NEXT TIME: Cat Scratch.
EDIT: had a few inconsistencies.
