OUR FIRST MISSION Part 2
'Okay, clearly jumping down was a bad move!' Angie thought to herself as AMAZO tossed her across the warehouse. Bow rushed over and fired a strobe Arrow at AMAZO's face, only to have it teleport aside and backhand him across the face.
"Yes that's it AMAZO, kill these whelps and prove the power of my genius!" Ivo yelled, laughing maniacally.
Bloom rushed in and tried to slow down AMAZO by wrapping vines around his arms and pulling. "Alright Mr. Robot, let's just calm down…" She said with a strained voice, AMAZO pulling against the vines.
AMAZO's head slowly began to turn to face Bloom. "Perfuma! Don't let it scan you!" Bow shouted, but it was much to late as AMAZO's eyes blinked.
"Access: Perfuma." It declared, taking command of the vines she was using and binding her hands in them. Bloom yelped in shock and tried to get control of the vines back, to no avail. AMAZO used the vines the throw her across the room and refocus its attacks on Bow and Angie. Bow managed to avoid the lashing of AMAZO's Vines and fires an exploding arrow into it's side.
"Over here, Tin-man!" He yelled, drawing the Android's attention. It indeed began to focus its efforts on him.
"Access: Glimmer." AMAZO declared, before teleporting in front of Bow and managing to clothesline him as he ran past. Angie leapt over the android and began to pelt it with light blasts. She only barely dodged being struck by a blast from the Android before she grabbed Bow and teleported him out of harms way.
"I'm just glad I called the rest of the team…" Bow said under his breath, groaning in pain.
"Was that a good idea Apollo?" Angie asked, looking at him. "What if he scans Power Princess?"
"He can only use one power-set at a time." Bow explained as Bloom rushed over to join them. "I just hope we can stay alive long enough for them to get here."
"Access: Perfuma." AMAZO again announced, causing roots to burst from the ground and whip at the three young heroes. Angie quickly teleported the two out of the way of the attack while Bow fired a flash-bang arrow for AMAZO's face. AMAZO blinked its eyes as it lost sight of the team. Bloom used this chance to wrap Vines around AMAZO's eyes. He quickly grabbed the vine and used it to smash Bloom into the ground.
Bloom coughed in pain and struggled to stand, when AMAZO stomped on her chest. As she screamed out in pain, Angie lost all control. "LET HER GO!" She screamed, running over and leaping at AMAZO. This only got her grabbed by the throat. As she kicked at the robot's arm, it only tightened its grip on her. Just as she began to black out, and Bloom again yelled in pain, the wall suddenly exploded open. Bow looked towards the exploded wall and breathed a sigh of relief. The others had arrived.
"Let Glimmer go!" Adora screamed out, flying over and punching AMAZO as hard as she could, causing the android to lose its grip and fly across the room.
Mermista charged in and checked on Angie, who was quickly catching her rbeath. "Wow. One day and you already screw the pooch." She deadpanned.
"Shut. Up." A Disgruntled Angie replied, Winter joining her sister to look for injuries.
"Oh wow that's such an advanced Android!" Emily squeed at the sight of AMAZO, who Adora was still beating on. "Try not to damage it too bad, I wanna study it!"
"Girls wait!" Bow shouted. "That thing, it can copy your powers!"
"It can what?!" Adora shouted back, before AMAZO scanned her. "Oh crud."
"Access: Power Princess." AMAZO stated, before retaliating with a powerful punch, launching Adora across the room.
"Aw crap…" Mermista groaned, rubbing her temples. "Now what."
Bow quickly blinded AMAZO again. "It can only use one power at a time if that helps." He quickly told them, helping Bloom to her feet.
Bloom took a few breaths and quickly sprouted a herb that she rubbed into her wounds. "It's already scanned me and Glimmer." She informed them.
"And now it has Power Princess's strength." Angie pointed out as Adora dug herself out of rubble.
"Why didn't you wait for us Glimmer!" Winter yelled, shooting icicles at AMAZO.
"I know, I know, I fucked up!" Angie shouted back. "Apollo and I just wanted to show Perfuma the Superhero life...and I got carried away." She sighed, and swallowing her pride, she looked over at Adora. "Power Princess...you're in charge."
"Right!" Adora replied, readying her sword. "We Attack him together, overwhelm him. Apollo, do you have any more Flashbangs?"
"A few." He admitted.
"Disorient it. Mermista, Frosta, Attack from the sides, try and divert its attention!" She continued. The two nodded and ran to melee range, Mermista stabbing with her trident. "Perfuma, Once its been distracted enough, restrain it with your vines." Bloom nodded, Moving to a safe vantage point. Adora then turned to Angie. "Glimmer. Are you able to teleport people with yourself?"
"I...should be able to yeah?" Angie asked, half confused.
Adora nodded. "Grab Entrapta. Teleport her close to that thing. And Entrapta?" Emily lit up, looking right at Adora. "Shut that thing down. Pull some wires, hack it. Anything."
"You can count on me Power Princess!" Emily cheered, getting close to Angie. With everyone in position, the team launched its assault. Mermista drove her Trident into AMAZO's leg, and when it turned to attack her, another flashbang arrow burst in its face. This was quickly followed up by Winter smashing an Ice hammer across its face. AMAZO glared daggers at Winter and attempted to Scan her, until Mermista stabbed it in the back.
"Access: Frost-" It began to say, but it was silenced when Adora flew over and punched it square in the mouth. "Access: Power Princess" AMAZO declared, grabbing her in a bear hug and tightening its grip. Adora struggled as hard as she could before vines shot out of the floor and wrapped around AMAZO's wrists. The sudden attack caused AMAZO to drop Adora, and turn its attention to Bloom. Adora acted quickly and grabbed one of the vines using all of her strength to pull it.
Mermista and Winter quickly ran to the other side and pulled on the other vine. Bow also rushed over to help. "Glimmer! NOW!" He shouted. Angie quickly nodded and grabbed onto Emily, the two vanishing in a bright flash.
Emily soon reappeared behind AMAZO and jumped onto his back, pulling out a cutting tool and cutting an opening into the Android to access its circuitry. "Okay, there's gotta be a quick way to shut this bad boy down." She began to ponder, when she noticed AMAZO was beginning to pull against the vines. "Or I could just do this." She quickly reached inside and pulled any wire she could get her hands on. As she pulled, AMAZO began to flail around, the sound of its electronics slowly winding down. Eventually, he stopped moving entirely. "There we go!" Emily sheered, hopping off AMAZO's back. "Now let's get this guy back so I can study-" She couldn't finish speaking before Adora flew right at the deactivated AMAZO and punched its head clean off.
"Sorry Entrapta. That thing is too dangerous to keep in one piece." Adora softly said. "Come on, help me pull this thing apart." Everyone was in agreement and began tearing and smashing at AMAZO. Everyone except for Bow and Angie, who looked around the now ominously silent warehouse. While the thugs they fought earlier were still unconscious, there was something clearly missing. Or rather...someone.
"Where the hell did Ivo run off to?!"
Ivo had managed to slip away in the chaos and was in the back of a truck, driven by an assistant of his. He growled in frustration at what just occurred, and in the middle of his venting, he heard his phone ringing. He checked it, and began to nervously sweat at the number he saw. Taking a deep breath, he slowly answered it. "Ah, Mr. Luthor. Listen, I can explain-"
"I hear the demonstration went...poorly." Luthor answered with an eerie calmness.
"Ah yes, well, you see… I hadn't expected those young heroes to show up so quickly." Ivo answered nervously. "My AMAZO could have easily killed the first three. The others arrived far sooner than expected-"
"I assume you managed to transfer the combat data before the Android was destroyed" Luthor asked, interrupting him.
"Of course sir."
"Good." There was a silence on the other end for a moment. "Send the data to me at once. I think we can consider this first test rather successful."
Ivo's eyes widened in surprise. "Sir?"
"Your prototype managed to put three Young heroes on the ropes, and it did not sound all that simple for the Power Alliance to dismantle." Luthor told him bluntly. "If you continue to adapt and improve the design, it could become strong enough to be a problem for even the Justice League."
"Well, for one I believe we could make AMAZO use multiple powers at once-" Ivo began to theorize before he was once again silenced.
"Get straight to work." He told Ivo. "I'll ensure your research continues to be funded. Perfect the AMAZO design, Professor Ivo, and I'll ensure you always have a place with Lexcorp." He soon hung up as Ivo breathed a sigh of relief.
At Lexcorp itself, Luthor began to run through the footage captured by AMAZO. "Well, it would appear I was correct. These children are going to be a problem."
Back at base, Angie sat quietly in her own room, deep in thought at the events of the day. Bloom was tending to her own wounds with healing herbs, but Angie still stung with the guilt of her injuries. She was snapped out of her train of thought by a knock on her doorframe. Looking up, she saw Adora leaning against the frame. "Adora. Come to scold me more?" She asked quietly.
"More just talk." Adora admitted, walking in and sitting on the bed. "Angie...what were you thinking? I understand wanting to help Bloom feel like part of the team, but you hjad no idea what sort of weapons deal was going down." Angie nodded quietly. "You should have called us sooner. Why do you keep trying to show off?"
"Adora. My mom and dad are Golden Age, Justice Society superheroes. Some of the finest in the world." Angie told her, looking at a photo she had framed of her family. "I know I can be just as cool as them. I wanna make them proud."
"I'm sure they are proud, Angie." Adora replied, patting her on the back. "You've come a long way already."
"And yeah, I admit it. I love the attention." Angie continued. "Being in the Spotlight. Even when it was just me and Winter, I felt unstoppable."
"But now you're part of a team." Adora told her.
Angie nodded again. "That's gonna take a lot of getting used to." She admitted with a nervous chuckle. "Still...the others were right you know."
"About what exactly?"
"You, Adora." Angie said. "You make a damn good leader. You figured out in minutes the best strategy to take the android down." Adora blushed and rubbed her head embarrassed. "You knew how best to use the team to our strengths. Meanwhile, without you, me, Bow and Bloom were just flailing randomly."
"I guess it comes from my own training." Adora repleid with a smile.
"Right, you're an Amazon."
"Half-Amazon, but yeah." Adora shrugged. "Amazons train to fight as solo warriors, and to work together as a cohesive unit. Your sisters always have your back, and you have theirs." She stood up from Angie's bed and began to head for the door. "Battle is just second nature to me."
"Well, I know one thing for sure." Angie said, smiling. She then gave Adora a salute. "I'll happily follow you as team leader."
"Thank you Angie. I appreciate it." Adora replied, before suddenly smirking. "Though, I hope you realize that you're sending the Report to Batman?" Angie's face quickly fell and she looked much more nervous.
"Oh Fuck you."
To be Continued….
Well this has been a while hasn't it? I have no idea why I haven't been too motivated to write this one, though I blame the fact I started out with AMAZO…
Also I am done committing to a weekly schedule, or even bi-weekly. It's far too stressful to manage. The closest thing I'm gonna commit to is at least 1 chapter per month. If I miss a month, it's because life has gotten too crazy. And good lord has it been crazy lately...
I do not own She-Ra or DC
