CHAPTER 1
Peter Parker sighed tiredly as he looked at mountain of paperwork he had to do. Sometimes running Parker Industries was more of a chore then he was willing to admit. He felt like just leaving it all but then he would remember all the help he was able to do to the neighborhood and the world. He was also super rich, was getting to do something he dreamed off since he was four years old and had so many resources at his disposal it was hilarious.
He could barely make ends meet a few years back and now he was one of the richest people in the planet. Life was comfortable and he wanted to keep it that way.
The only god thing to have come off the whole 'Superior' Spiderman fiasco with Doc. Ock was this company and Peter had put a lot of energy into running it. He had gone through all the work Doc Ock had put in and first stopped the Living Brain from modifying the market.
Of course, Parker industries was already established and it continued to flourish despite the lack of manipulations from the Living Brian. They had only gone up in fame with their invention of the noise cancellation headphones as part of the Webware appliances.
The headphones were completely noise canceling allowing the users to get immersed in their music. It also helpful in places where you needed to concentrate despite the heavy noises and disturbances. There was also the Webware mobiles which were a grand hit almost taking over Stark's own work in the field.
They also supplied body armor that was lighter than Kevlar, had zero penetration, scratch proof, tear proof, burn proof insulating against electricity and could also be altered into daily clothing upon the necessity of the user with a command from his mind.
He had called the polymer Webric which he had based of his modified web fluid and Venom which lacked some of it's properties like stickiness and tensile strength but had the addition option of transforming into a set of already saved clothes in it's memory upon the wearers command.
It was very popular with S.H.I.E.L.D and Cap had recently made a large order of his uniform for him to use. They had also built a bunch of plasma rifles based off Electro's powers that had proved very popular with S.W.O.R.D and Rocket who took a bunch of them with him.
The material was also making heads turn in the fashion industry with how much heavy advertisement Janet was doing for him.
He made a few other gadgets like his Explorer 300 that could be used for scouring the sea bed. The antigravity pucks, a portable heater and a few other stuffs.
Of course, their work in the prosthetic limbs department was one of the best in the world and Peter's own work with his blood had allowed him to design a method for skin grafting that was saving hundreds of lives almost every day.
Peter's work was far from done though. His discovery and subsequent experiments upon a newly discovered metal had been their greatest boon. The metal was called Benjenium (named after his uncle) and had the property of conducting electricity by a hundred percent. No loss and no heating. The metal could not hold heat like at all.
It was their greatest invention and withing a few months Parker Industries went from a well-established American company with global interests to a Multinational Conglomerate that could rival Stark's.
The two of them (Peter and Tony (P.S Peter hasn't forgiven Tony yet for what happened during Civil War)) were currently working together on refining the making process Stark's discovered element Badassium.
Peter greatest success had probably come with the discovery of Parker Particles though. They were not ready to be used yet. They were still a few tests left to run but the results so far spoke for themselves.
Within the year both Stark industries and Parker industries will be supplying clean, green and near unlimited energy to probably the whole planet. He could not have been prouder. Now, he was helping the world both as Peter Parker and Spiderman like he wanted too.
"Mr. Parker, do you need anything?" asked Pavitra, his personal secretary.
"No, Pavitra, you can head home. I will close here," said Peter giving her a smile which she returned.
She closed the door behind her as she left for her desk to probably pack. Peter watched her go and then looked to his watch. It was later than he had expected. He got of his chair and walked to the door and opened it to see Pavitra packing her stuff.
"Hey Pavitra, ask to drop you home. The streets are not safe and even Spiderman can't be everywhere now," said Peter. Mr. Reyes was a tough son of bitch who was in the Military. He was head of security for Parker Industries and some one Peter trusted explicitly. The man even knew he was Spider man and did not say a thing.
He had later learned that he had saved half his family from multiple threats all over New York. He might have gotten his respect first by giving him a job and putting him on such a high-ranking position but he had earned his loyalty by learning the truth about him.
"Thank you, Mr. Parker, thought since there are about a dozen of them around, I might be fine. That is not counting the Devil," said Pavitra with a smile making Peter laugh.
"I guess you are right," thought Peter given the fact that Ben, Kaine, Eddie, Flash and whoever was using the Antivenom, Miles, Gwen (from an alternate Earth), Jessica, Silk, Mattie, Anya and Mary Jane using some sort of Klyntar subspecies that Norman had created were running around the city not to mention DD, JJ, Luke and Danny, Shang-Chi, Elektra and loathe as he was to mention it Punisher and Moon Knight.
The city was more than safe and Peter had decided that a few months break to take care of his company was in order. He had said as much to Matt, Ben and Kaine. He also told them to take care of Miles since the kid was young even if his heart was in the right place. He was also avoiding both Gwen and Mary Jane mostly cause now Mary Jane remembered the deal they made with Mephisto and was understandably pissed off Peter was not trying to do anything to get together despite all her hints.
Gwen well they had both lost each other once and they were reluctant to let the other in.
The 26-year-old closed the door as Pavitra left and walked back into his room.
"Karen, please pull up the test results for the energy burnout tests we have conducted today," said Peter.
"Gladly, Peter," said his A.I.
They appeared in front of him and he looked at the results for a few minutes observing the wastage had dropped to their all time low of fifteen percent. There was still the problem of transfer an alloy Benjenium and Mysterium (he obtained from S.W.O.R.D) proved very useful in that regard. They were struggling with containment now.
Both Adamantium and Vibranium were the only metals that were able to contain the energy and he was running low on those right now. Unless he pulled out another incredible element out of his drunk ass like he did with Benjenium he was going to have to probably beg T'Challa or the government for help.
"How long are you going to stand there?" asked Percy turning towards the left corner of his office to see double D walk out of the shadows. He removed the cowl to reveal the face of the famous lawyer and his retainer Matt Murdock.
He was tall almost as tall as Peter and his eyes were blue. He was staring at Peter's general direction though his eyes were aligned to the phone on his desk slightly to his left. His red hair cut short and his lips were set in a grim line. His nose much like Peters looked like it had been broken and reset many times. His was a little less noticeable given his enhanced healing.
"You do realize what is happening out there right," said Matt almost seeming like he was growling.
"I know, Fisk is trying his best to cozy up to me given the fact I now own the fastest growing MNC in the world. It's giving me the creeps just thinking about it," said Peter shivering remembering the meeting he had with Mayor Wilson Fisk yesterday.
"Peter, that's not what…," said Matt but Peter interrupted him.
"That's without even going into the fact that Martin has ran off to China for some reason leaving us with a power vacuum that is tearing the streets apart," said Peter.
"Peter…," said Matt
"That's not mentioning the shit Frank and Venom are pulling. I mean…," said Peter.
"PETER," screamed Matt stopping the Web head.
"That is not what I want to talk about and you know it," said Matt.
"Is it about F.E.A.S.T, cause if you wanna donate…," said Peter but Matt interrupted him.
"Forget it, I was wrong to think you will help me with this," said Matt preparing to walk off.
"What do you want me to say Matt? Huh, what do you want me to say? Do you want me to say how stupid it is of us to tear ourselves apart again after what happened with the Superhero Registration Act? Do you want me to say how bullheaded Carol is being escalating this difference of opinions into a serious conflict. How Tony is being foolish and wasting resources that should be helping the world to fight Hill and her stupidity. Or shall we talk about the morals on either side of this Second Civil War? Huh, what do you want me to say Matt," raged Peter smashing his fist into his office chair breaking it apart.
Completely nonplused by the display of strength Matt started, "Then why won't you help? They are tearing the world and the superhero community apart and you are sitting here and what checking the design for you new mobile,"
"Shut up, I am doing good work here, important work that would save billions of lives. You do not get to talk about my work that way. Not while you know what I am doing here and how hard I worked to get here," growled Peter.
"And Spiderman was not. He saved lives everyday and now there are lives out there that he could help save but instead he is here safe and secure looking over designs," said Matt moving towards Peter.
"What do you expect me to do Matt. Walk out there in my red and blue spandex and asking two of the strongest and stubbornest people I have ever met, who have massive egos and have already started fighting to sit down and talk," said Spiderman incredulously.
"Yes, Tony and Carol both respect you. They will listen to you. You must stop them Pete, before they do something drastic that we cannot come back from," said, no pleaded, Matt.
Peter snorted.
"What was that?" asked Matt glaring. There were lives on the line out there and he just snorted. Did he not understand the importance of this conflict.
"You are bit behind Matt, the major punches have been drawn. There was a huge conflict over the Triskelion during the afternoon where Tony's team and Carol's side went to war. No causalities in the hero side but most the Triskelion is blown to pieces and a lot of agents have died.
"How are you okay with that?" asked Matt sensing the lack of sympathy or any feeling from Peter's tone. They ran into death all the time in this line of work but this much lack desensitising to it was not something he saw in Spiderman. Maybe in Frank but not in Peter.
"Maybe it's because half the force there was Hydra agents," said Peter stopping Daredevil in his tracks.
"What?" asked Daredevil.
"You heard me right. Except for Hill and some of the lower-level agents most of the Triskelion is filled with Hydra agents," said Peter.
"What? How? I mean, When?" Matt looked shocked as Peter walked to the bar he had placed in the office and poured himself and Matt a large amount of Whiskey.
"Drink," said Peter placing the glass in Matt's hand and having him sit down in the sofa. He took the table in the middle and drank and so did Matt.
"How are you so sure?" asked Matt.
"Well, when I started out with Parker Industries, I had checked all the work Otto did before and I found a file with a few names and so scatter statements talking about spies and tech. I thought it was S.H.I.E.L.D at first put later found out it was Hydra agents. I tracked them back to Triskelion and well the whole thing is corrupt Matt. All of them. They were having a video conference in middle of the day with Zemo, Strucker and Red Skull talking about some sort of double agent and taking over the country," said Peter.
"Did you find out who?" asked Matt.
"No, had to leave before they found me, though I erased all information they had about me and then sent a warning to Hill to keep away from my work along with a gift of the Plasma Rifles," said Peter.
"You gave them the rifles knowing this?" asked Matt in disbelief.
"Yes, cause S.H.I.E.L.D protects our nation and they will need them. I just installed a remote off button that will switch off all the rifles if they ever turn on us," said Peter with a mischievous smile.
"Did Hill stop?" asked Matt.
"No, but she sent some of her best on the job who were clean as they come. They were good to but for a guy with enhanced sense and training from Black Widow it was easy to find out who was who," said Peter with a smirk.
"I forget how smart you can be sometimes," said Matt making Peter laugh.
They sat in silence for a few minutes enjoying their drinks before Matt started again.
"Pete…,"
"Matt, don't. You know how much shit I had to go through due to the last time I got involved in these conflicts. I am not doing that mistake again. I will help rebuild after this is done but I am not getting involved," said Peter.
Matt sighed tiredly.
"I was just trying to…," said Matt but Peter interrupted him.
"I know Matt, I know," he said the man smiled.
He got up after finishing his drink in one gulp.
"That is some good stuff," said Matt.
"I will send you a bottle," said Peter with a smile.
"Don't. Save it for after this shit is done. Elektra would drink it all up before I even touch it anyway,"
"How is my favourite killing machine doing?" asked Peter.
"I though your favourite killing machine was Wade," said Matt playfully making Peter groan.
They talked for some time and drank some more before Matt was ready to leave.
"Can I expect you in the city anytime soon?" asked Matt.
"Soon, Matt, but now anytime now. I have so much to do," said Peter.
He sighed yet he did not seem disappointed. As if he was expecting that answer. Which made sense.
In a way, they were both the same having gone through a lot of similar sorts of shit and if he was given this opportunity Matt would do the same as Peter and he would be just as reluctant to return to the vigilante life.
"You should visit Jen. Apparently, she is feeling lonely," said Matt.
"You should too. She has a very clear thing for you," said Peter with a smirk Matt felt rather than see.
"Not interested I have enough shit to deal with and Elektra on top of that. You on the other hand could use the distraction," said Matt.
"I will think about it," said Peter making Matt smirk before prepared to jumped off his window.
"Just one more thing Peter. The first time you were asked to be an Avenger you said no. I was there that day. Your exact words were that "With Great Power comes Great Responsibilities and mine is to be in New York. In the streets of New York fighting for the little guy and helping him. I am the Friendly Neighbourhood Spiderman and I am needed more on the streets then flying over them." I was never prouder of you then that day. Now, the little guy is suffering and they don't have the friendly neighbourhood Spider Man to help them out," said Matt and then he jumped out of the window.
Peter stared at the window for a few seconds before groaning. He should have just pushed him down the window when he suggested visiting Jen. He would have been able to sleep peacefully tonight.
But, how could that be. Because it would mean the world giving Peter a break and we cannot have that can we. Now he will get to go home and spend the time trying to sleep while tuning out the voice telling him to pick up the suit and put it on.
He turned back to see his ruined chair and groaned he might have to stay standing. In a way it might be good since it might help exhaust him. Oh, who was he kidding he had a superhuman stamina.
"Hey Karen, could you bring up Project Genesis for me really quick," said Peter.
"I though you weren't getting involved Peter," said AI even if she did as asked.
"Yes, I am not getting involved but it's always good to be prepared," said Peter making the AI hum in acceptance.
The schematics of his suit were up and Karen asked, "Shall I put on the music?"
Peter nodded as Led Zepplin started blaring in the back and he started making the necessary adjustments to his suit. The month he wanted to dedicate to the suit had just come down to at best a week and if his luck acted up three days.
Fuck he hated this and he still had paperwork to do.
LINE BREAK
"Well, that could have gone better in so many ways," said Rocket looking at the pictures of the blown apart Triskelion on the screen in one of the conference rooms of Maria Hill's personal Helicarrier.
"Millions in property damage, most of the academy destroyed, the whole high ranking of the Triskelion blown apart, hundreds of agents dead and all you say is 'well that could have gone better,'" said Carol Danver aka Captain Marvel.
"Yeah, what else were you expecting," said Rocket.
"A lot of people died Rocket, maybe a little sympathy," said Kitty having Jean and Ororo nod along with her.
"Bah, sympathy, can you hear her," said Rocket.
"I am Groot," said Groot.
"Of course, you can, she was right there," said Rocket.
"I am Groot," said Groot.
"Then why did, because I was being sarcastic," said Rocket.
"I am Groot," said Groot.
"Then I should use my sarcastic voice..., what the hell does that…," Gamora interrupted him.
"Rocket listen to what they have to say. You to Groot," said the Daughter of Thanos.
"I am Groot," said Groot.
"I did not start it," said Rocket indignantly.
"I will end it if either of you don't calm down now," said Storm glaring at the two of them making the them stop.
"So, do we know where they are?" asked Agent Venom aka Flash Thompson.
"There are a bunch of places they could be. I am having Scott and Hawkeye looking for them. They are tearing through all of Stark's old hideouts," said Captain.
"The Inhumans are also on a lookout not that it matters given they have gone back to their cities," grumbled Ice Man.
"What is our plan of action?" asked Peter Quill.
"Well, we will have to split up our duties. Of course, Storm and her people should probably head back. They have their own duties to do. The Guardians must search for the rest of them, while the rest of us will remain on standby. We might a new vision appear anytime and we will be prepared for when it happens," said Carol.
All of them nodded what they have been told making sense.
"What do you think they will be planning?" asked Drax.
"Well, nothing immediately," said Storm, "They will lay low for while and gather their strength for the next inevitable conflict. We will be on standby should you need our help,"
"I guess that makes sense, but this isn't going to end with the help of fistfights is it," said Monica.
"You are right," said Blue Marvel, "Which means they either will try to discredit Ulysses' predictions or prove that Miles will not kill the Captain."
"I will inform the Inhumans to strengthen their boundaries just in case," said Ben Grimm heading off.
"How would they prove Miles will not do it? I mean a psych evaluation test," asked Johnny jokingly. No one laughed and turned to him with a deadpan expression on their faces.
Johnny rubbed the back of his head uncomfortably laughing awkwardly.
"I don't understand Webs does this," said Johnny making some of the table laugh at that.
"I can almost hear him saying it's a gift," said Kitty.
"Webs?," asked Angela confused.
"Spider Man, the original one. His name is Peter Parker. The CEO and founder of Parker Industries. A wonderful, kind, caring, noble and considerate man. One of the best I know," said Carol a slight smile on her face.
"Oh, does someone have a crush," asked Monica Rambeau teasingly.
Carol blushed and Monica laughed along with most of the table though Jean just smiled while Kitty seemed to be hiding a grimace.
It was Storm that spoke asking the question on everyone's mind.
"Did you call him?" asked Storm looking at Captain Marvel.
"I did not. He is taking a break Ororo. Working on Parker Industries and just living his life. I did not want to drag him into this conflict," said Carol.
The picture on the screen which until now was showing most of the people on Tony's side changed to a single picture of Peter stuck in the middle of a narrow alleyway fifteen feet in the air. A bag in his hands. A pair of gloves in his mouth and his costume on. His legs were on either side of the alleyway and he looked to be in a hurry.
"He looks cute," said Angela making Carol almost glare at her.
"Oh, Careful Angela, it seems Carol is jealous," said Drax making the room burst out laughing and left Carol fuming and blushing.
Everyone was laughing except for Flash who looked at the screen with a sort of transfixed horror.
The room finally noticed and turned to Flash.
"Euguene, what's wrong?" asked Gamora looking alarmed.
"Peter Parker is Spiderman," said Flash in horror.
"Uh, yeah, did you not know," said Monica.
"No," he said standing up suddenly, pushing the chair so far back and with so much force that it travelled through the wall into the next conference room.
"Oh my god, oh my god, I need to go, I need some air. I think I am going to puke," said Flash rushing out of the room.
The room watched in a long silence before Rocket broke the silence.
"Okay what just happened?" asked Rocket.
"Oh, you know, Flash and Peter went to the same High School and Middle School and Flash bullied Peter like a lot during that time and given the fact that he is a big Spiderman fan, it just points out why he rushed out like that," said Kitty glaring at the back of the rushing form of Agent Venom.
A glare Star Lord saw and did not how it made him feel. Jealous. Definitely. Peter had left Kitty for a different girl while they were dating probably and she still harboured such strong feelings for him.
He might have made a comment if not for the fact that Carol, Marvel Girl, and Storm were glaring at the man's retreating form along with Booby and Johnny. He did not want to die not yet at least.
"He is not going to like this is he," said Johnny.
"What do you mean?" asked Carol.
"I mean, Peter was training Miles before Otto came along and now, he is still looking after the kid. I mean we text all the time. He might not be going out on patrol but he is still teaching the kid all sorts of stuff from tricks of the trade to science. I mean he sent a picture of the two of them covered in motor oil and grease to me saying he missed me when he was fixing up a car," said Johnny.
"Which car?" asked Bobby.
"A Gullwing," said Johnny in a whisper looking at Bobby conspirator.
"Oh, he loves that car," said Storm.
"I always thought he would buy a Mustang, he would talk about them all the time," said Jean.
"Oh, he already did that. He bought one. First thing he did after he got back control," said Kitty.
"What about the Viper," asked Johnny. "He sent me a picture of it a few weeks back,"
"Drives it around all the time. There are tabloids about his obsession with vintage cars. He said in a press conference about how he wanted to start a collection," said Jean.
Peter followed the conversation about a man not even here and how excited Kitty was to join in the conversation. He looked over the table to see the rest of them just watching the conversation with a level of confusion that was not uncommon in the face of aliens who have never heard of these names.
Carol though was watching the conversation, with a horrifying fascination. Like someone would watch a car crash. It seems Carol did not know any of these things about her crush Peter Parker.
It was true. Carol did not know any of these things about her Peter. Her, what the hell, Carol get a grip of yourself. You are a professional. You will get your date after you are done with all these problems.
She argued that she did not know him for as long as some of them but still it sparked a sort of competitive and jealous fire in her heart. A fire that was not helped by how excited Kitty sounded while talking about how much Peter loved the show Looney Toons. She is engaged, she is engaged.
Engagements are broken all the time.
Jean also seemed oddly interested in the conversation. The woman has her eyes on Scott. Her eyes are for Scott. Her eyes are for Scott.
Scott is against her and seemed to be interested in Emma Frost.
Storm also seemed fascinated by the topic and she had to remember that Storm was still stuck on T'Challa. She was still stuck on T'Challa. She was still stuck on T'Challa.
Who seems to have moved on.
Fuck you brain.
"He is not going to like this," said Johnny.
"Yeah," said Bobby.
"What the hell are you talking about?" said Carol.
"He was Miles's mentor, Carol. He loved that kid like his brother. He is going to fight tooth and nail so that not even a single hair on his head is ever harmed. If he finds out about this, he is going to come at us. All guns blazing," said Johnny.
"Oh, I am scared. What can he do? Climb Walls and shoot webs. I mean Blue Marvel here could punch the Hulk into the orbit," said Rocket.
"You should be scared rodent. Peter has taken on the worst odds then this and has come out on top and that was before he had so many resources and time in his hand. Now, he could probably take everyone in this room down, without much difficulty," said Jean.
"Pfft, yeah right," said Rocket. "I'll go get the engine running, we have a bunch of fugitives to find, come Groot," said Rocket.
"I am Groot," said Groot.
"No, I didn't call you because I can't reach the console," said Rocket irritated.
"I am Groot," said Groot.
"No, I don't need help getting onto the chair," said Rocket and the door closed behind them stopping their conversation from leaking in.
Carol spoke up then.
"Jean's right. Peter is very dangerous. I have seen him take on some very difficult and neigh unbeatable foes and come out on top. If you must fight him, not saying we will, but if you must fight, stay careful," said Carol.
She was right. She knew she was. She might not know everything there is to know about him but she knew what kind of man he was and when news reached him about Miles he will be pissed.
A pissed Peter is not a good thing as can be attested by the many villains of the underbelly of New York City. He was going to hate her and maybe their relation will never recover from this blow but this was her duty, her responsibility and as he was so fond of saying to anyone who will listen "With Great Power come Great Responsibilty."
She will do this. She will find Miles and bring him in for his safety and for Rogers's. It will break Peter's heart. He will scream and rage at her breaking her own but he will understand. She knows he will, or at least she hopes he will.
"Let's get to work, the faster we can apprehend Tony and his team the quicker we can move onto the next problems," said Carol making them nod.
I am so pissed right now with Marvel. They messed up my favourite hero. I grew up on Spiderman stories and comics and have loved him since I was five years old. Watching the comics now is really. I mean, I couldn't get through the Dark Web storyline. We had no need of the X-Men in that story, yet there they were (though they seem to be everywhere now a days).
They are messing him up man. Ever since One More Day it has been only downhill for Spiderman. So I am planning on writing a few stories of his in my own words taking elements from the comics and other media. This is the first of probably many to come.
TILL NEXT TIME, TOODLES, MSKN
