Chapter 12: South Africa

"Last time on the Ridonculous Race, the teams went to Swden, and lied down in literal ice beds. The Ice Dancers tried to cut corners by using heat patches, which earned them a thirty minute penalty. But unfortunately because it was a non elimination challenge, they're staying around.

Where will go now? Find out right now on...the Ridonculous Race." Don announced.

"We're still here in Sweden, and the Cops get first dibs on the next tip." MacArthur pressed the button, and got the tip.

"Our next stop is South Africa." she read.

"South Africa. Home to Cape Cod, a colorful flag, and weird jewelry. Teams have to catch a flight there."

"Let's do this thing."

And they all hurried to the airport. There were two flights leaving, and the Cops, New Couple, Ice Dancers, Adversity Twins, and Daters managed to get the first flight.

"This is so exciting Devin." Carrie said.

"We're in the final ten."

"I know, maybe we can win this season." Devin told her.

As they talked to each other, they didn't notice they were being watched by the Ice Dancers.

"I think we should go after the New Couple." thought Josee.

"Are you sure?" Jacques asked.

"Of course, it's about time they find out that love doesn't last."

"I can't wait to see South Africa." Stephanie said.

"Neither can I." agreed Ryan.

"I hear they have some good athletes and sports."

"I'm gonna run to the bathroom real quick." Carrie told Devin.

As she walked off, the Ice Dancers were ready to put their plan into action. Josee went off to use the bathrooms too, and Jacques made sure to get a stewardess' attention. When Carrie got out, she saw Devin talking to the stewardess.

"Looks like they're having a nice conversation." whispered a voice.

Carrie turned around and saw Josee. Carrie being smart, thew what was happening.

"Don't even try and get in my head, Josee. I know what you're trying to do." Carrie told her.

And she went back to her seat.

"Hmm, this may be harder than we thought." Josee admitted.

"As the first flight takes off, the rest of the teams have to wait 15 minutes before the next flight goes out." Don informed.

"I can't believe we missed the first flight." complained Junior.

"Don't worry, son. We're still in this thing." Dwayne encouraged.

As the Goths were sitting and waiting, Owen walked past them. But as he was walking past, he actually let one rip.

"Oops, sorry guys." Owen told them.

"It's okay. Your farts smell like dead bodies." Crimson replied.

"Reminds me of our first date." Ennui said.

"Oh stop, you'll get me all lovey dovey."

"Wow. That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said about my farts." Owen said.

"Definitely a first." Noah replied sarcastically.

"The first flight has now landed in South Africa."

The teams hurried out of the plane, through the airport, and out the door. The Daters managed to get to the Don Box first. Stephanie pressed the button, and Ryan took the tip.

"It's a botch or watch." he read.

"In this botch or watch, whoever is holding the tip will have to try and shoot an elephant. Not to worry, they'll be shooting with paint balls. Team will have to come to the Addo Elephant National Park, get a paint gun, track down an elephant with the Ridonculous Race logo painted on the side, mark it with paint, then their partner will take a picture as proof. And then they'll have to race to the Chill Zone." Don explained.

"Let's do this thing." Stephanie declared.

"I'm with you, babe."

And the teams hurried to catch cabs.

Meanwhile, the second flight was in the air.

"Now remember son." Dwayne told his son.

"When we get to South Africa let's try and stay together. We don't want a repeat of last year."

"Don't worry Dad. As long as there's no waterfalls we don't have anything to worry about." Junior replied.

"Dude, I can't wait to get back to Africa." Brody said.

"Me neither. Hope we can do down a waterfall again." agreed Geoff.

Back in South Africa, the teams reached the national park. They all left their cabs, and ran inside. The ones who would be using the paintball guns were Ryan, MacArthur, Jacques, Carrie, and Jay.

"Let's do this thing!" MacArthur yelled, as she got her paintball gun.

"Now MacArthur, remember these are elephants. Giant, beautiful, endangered creatures." Sanders reminded.

The others grabbed their cameras, and they grabbed some jeeps and drove into the park.

"As the first group of teams start the challenge, the second flight has landed in South Africa." Don announced.

The Surfer Dudes managed to get to the Don Box first.

"We're going to paintball elephants?" asked Body, reading the tip.

"Awesome."

The ones that were going to use the paintball guns this time were Brody, Junior, Emma, Owen, and Crimson.

"This is going to be so cool." said Junior. He was very excited to be using a paintball gun.

"Just please be careful, son. We don't want to worry your mother. Or me." Dwayne told.

As they got their cabs, the others teams were on the search for elephants.

"See any elephants yet?" asked Carrie.

"Not yet." Devin told her.

Stephanie scanned the area, and saw an elephant in the distance.

"There's one!" she called out.

She quickly hit the gas pedal, and sped off into the distance. The others followed her, hoping there would be more elephants. As they rode, they managed to find some elephants.

"Now we need one that has the show's logo." said Josee.

She scanned the scene, and finally she spotted one.

"There's one!"

And she sped off.

"Come on, we need to find one too." said Mickey.

"I'm on it, Mickey." Jay replied.

The Ice Dancers got close to the elephant, and then Jacques shot it. But unfortunately, the elephant moved, and he missed.

"Drat!" he shouted.

The other teams drove around, and the Daters managed to find another elephant with a logo. Ryan took aim, fired, and managed to hit an elephant.

"Got him!" Ryan cheered.

"You go baby!" Stephanie cheered on.

After snapping a picture with Ryan in it, Stephanie drove off. The next ones to find an elephant were the Cops.

"Boo yah!" MacArthur yelled.

"Great job, partner." complimented Sanders.

The Ice Dancers scowled.

"The other teams are getting ahead of us." complained Jacques.

"Time to lean on the New Couple a little more." Josee declared.

They drove up next to their jeep, and Josee talked to Devin.

"Hey, Devin. You know you should probably slow down a bit." she suggested.

"What, why?" Devin questioned.

"If you drive too fast while Carrie's standing up, you could seriously hurt her."

Devin hadn't thought of that. The last thing he wanted to do what cause Carrie to get hurt.

"Just something to think about."

And with that, they sped off. Feeling concerned for Carrie's safety, he slowed down.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Carrie wondered.

"Just taking things slowly."

This confused Carrie, but she went with it.

The second group of teams managed to get to the park, and were now driving around looking for elephants.

"See any elephants yet?" asked Emma.

"Not yet." Kitty said.

"Remember son, be careful with that thing." warned Dwayne.

"Relax, Dad." Junior assured.

"I got this." I hope we can find an elephant." hoped Owen.

"You know if we put some ears, a trunk, and a logo on you, you could pass for a baby elephant." Noah told him.

"You really think that could work?"

"I was being sarcastic."

"Oh."

The Goths and Cops managed to get their elephants and pictures, and were now trying to get to the Chill Zone.

"It's right there, Jay." Mickey told his brother.

Jay shakily held his weapon, and took aim. Once he pulled the trigger, the paint flew forward and he flew backwards. But by some miracle, the paint hit the elephant.

"I can't believe I hit it." said Jay.

"Me neither. Maybe our luck is finally turning around." Mickey added.

Carrie and Devin were still driving around slow.

"Devin, we have to hurry." Carrie urged.

"But it's better to go slower." Devin said.

Carrie was starting to get a little annoyed. Suddenly, the Father and Son, Surfer Dudes, Sisters, Reality TV Veterans, and Goths either drove past or around them.

"We're falling behind. Come on Devin."

Devin felt really conflicted. He wanted to keep Carrie safe, but he didn't want them to be eliminated. So hit put the pedal to the metal. They sped off, with some other teams following them.

Meanwhile Don was waiting at the Chill Zone. Then he heard the sounds of jeeps.

"And here comes our first group of winners." he informed the audience.

It was the Daters, Cops, and Adversity Twins. After parking their jeeps, they all ran as fast as they could. The Daters managed to get there first.

"Daters you're in first."

The two cheered happily, and then kissed each other.

"Cops, you're second."

"At least be beat those Ice Dunces." Sanders told MacArthur.

"You got that right partner." MacArthur replied.

"And Adversity Twins, you're third."

"We came in third." Mickey said excitedly.

"Our luck really is turning around." Jay replied.

They tried to hi-five, but they ended hitting each other in the face.

The Ice Dancers, Surfer Dudes, and Father and Son managed to get their elephants, and drove to the Chill Zone. The New Couple was still looking.

"I don't see any elephants yet." Devin observed.

"Well we would've found some elephants sooner if you'd gone faster." Carrie told him.

Devin looked guilty, when suddenly, he spotted some elephants. And he quickly sped off towards them.

"Do you see one with a logo?" he asked her.

Carrie scanned the elephants, and managed to find one.

"There!"

She got her paint gun ready, and took aim. She fired, and the paint hit the elephant. Devin snapped a picture, and they rode off to find the Chill Zone.

4th to finish were the Goths, 5th, Father and Son, 6th were the Ice Dancers, and 7th came the Surfer Dudes. "Half of the teams have reached the Chill Zone, and now it's a race to not come in last." Don announced.

"Come on, Kitty. We gotta pick up the pace." Emma urged. "I'm going as fast as I can." Kitty informed. As they drove, the Reality TV Veterans stopped beside them. "Hey, you ladies need some help?" Noah offered.

"Yes we could." Emma replied. "We saw some more elephants over there, follow us." instructed Owen. And the Sisters followed them. The remaining teams managed to locate some elephants, and found the specific ones.

Once the shooters hit their targets, and the photographers snapped the pictures, they raced to the Chill Zone. When they got close enough, they all got out of the jeeps, and ran as fast as they could.

"8th place, the Sisters, Reality TV Veterans 9th, and New Couple you're last place." said Don. "Aw man, that does mean we're out?" asked Devin. Carrie looked disappointed. "Actually, this is another non-elimination challenge. So you're still in this." Don informed.

The New Couple hugged each other with delight.
