Yoda watched mindfully as his newest, and possibly one of, if not his most gifted padawan practiced with his lightsaber. The ancient and wise Jedi Master would not have thought it possible but in only three months he had nearly mastered each of the traditional forms of lightsaber combat and his skill at deflection and reflection of energy bolts rivaled the likes of Obi-wan Kenobi and Anikan Skywalker themselves, as evident by the dozen seekers that his friend Bail Organa, the former Senator of Alderaan had managed to smuggle him. They had been surrounding the young man for the last few minutes now and not one of them had landed a hit.
Despite the blindfold covering his eyes Tommy could still see the seekers through the force one to his left shifted its position slightly sensing its intent to fire Tommy turned to face it, only to slide his left foot back and roll his left shoulder. The stinging yellow beam steaked past Tommy's face and struck another seeker sending it crashing to the muddy soil. "One," he thought to himself. Two seekers now to his right moved to fire, and Tommy moved his green blade to meet the bolts before they were even fired, both were deflected into two other seekers. "Two, three," Another seeker behind Tommy fired and the young Jedi raised his blade above his head until it went behind him and reflected the bolt back to the seeker. "Four." This time, two of the seekers fired, one in front of Tommy, the other behind. Calling on The Force Tommy lept into the air and did a backflip landing gracefully with all of the remaining seekers in front of him as the two that had inadvertently shot one another hit the ground with wet-sounding plops. "Five, six," Tommy thought to himself.
Now, as if sensing danger in their computerized minds, the remaining six seekers began firing in rapid-fire succession. But, it did no good. Each of the bolts was skillfully batted away or reflected back until each of the remaining training droids joined their counterparts on the soggy soil. Tommy took a deep calming breath as he hit the activator switch on the hilt of his weapon causing the glowing blade to vanish as if it were shrinking down into the cylinder in his hand.
"Learned well you have," Yoda said from his perch on a rock. Tommy removed the blindfold and turned to face the small alien.
"Thank you, Master," he said respectfully as he opened his dark brown hooded cloak and clipped his lightsaber to his belt.
"Come before me Tommy," Yoda said with a prideful look in his eyes. Tommy walked to where his master stood and patiently waited for his next lesson to begin. "Thought you all I can, I have. Time it is for you to return home," Yoda said before laughing at Tommy's bewildered look. "Kneal please." Tommy lowered himself to one knee. Yoda reached into his robe and pulled out a tiny lightsaber hilt and ignited his own green blade. "By will of The Force," Yoda began holding the small blade above Tommy's left shoulder. "By right of The Council," he continued moving the blade over Tommy's head and lowering it to just above his right shoulder. "Rise, Jedi Knight."
"Thank you, Master Yoda," Tommy said as he rose to his feet. He pulled the hood of his cloak over his head and took another look at the ancient alien. "When the time comes, I'll come back with my friends," he said reassuringly. Yoda said nothing, only giving an appreciative nod before Tommy touched his communicator and streaked off in green energy.
He landed in a secluded area in Angel Grove Park and instantly sensed that his friends were nearby, and in danger. He took off on a dead sprint across the park resisting the urge to tap into The Force as he ran, keeping to the trees as much as possible to conceal himself. After a few minutes, he stopped just short of the clearing where the battle was taking place. All five of the rangers moved around Zedd's newest creature a gruesome-looking skeleton looking, a creature with long sharp fangs. Goldar watched from the far side of the clearing laughing with joy as one by one the creature swatted the rangers away until only Jason was left standing. As Jason charged him Power Sowrd in one hand, and Blade Blaster in its dagger mode in the other the creature materialized a sword that resembled a cutlass made of bone. He slashed through the air sending an ark of red sparking energy at Jason knocking him to the ground. The monster lept into the air landing with Jason between his legs he raised his boney blade high intending on running the red ranger through.
"Jason no!" Trini yelled as she held out one hand towards her friend as she and the others struggled to get to their feet. The monster roared with delight and Tommy reached out with The Force and stopped the monster's arm.
"What are you doing you fool?" Goldar's gravely voice rang out across the clearing. "Finish him!"
"I...I can't move my arm!" the monster yelled back in a panic. Tommy whipped the monster's arm sideways causing the blade to slash through the air and sending its energy attack at Goldar. Thanks to his surprise, Goldar nearly failed to move out of the way of the attack.
"Bone Crusher! What are you doing you brainless bag of bones?!"
"It...it wasn't me! I think it was whoever that is," the monster who Tommy now knew was called Bone Crusher said. Everyone looked in his direction as he slowly crossed the clearing keeping his face concealed by the hood of his long loose fitting brown cloak. Goldar let out a growl of frustration.
"Putties please!" Goldar called and a second later six of Zedd's putties appeared and made their way to Tommy, "Thank you!"
Taking advantage of the distraction made by the newcomer, Jason scrambled away from Bone Crusher and joined the other rangers. "Come on guys we've got to help whoever that..." Jason began as he turned toward Tommy. What he saw, was a flurry of blurred motion. The cloaked stranger stuck out one hand. Using guidance from The Force, Tommy aimed for the chest plate with Zedd's Z insignia on it as he sent a powerful Force Push towards one of the charging putties. It sounded like a small sonic boom sounded just before the putty went flying and shattering just before it slammed into a stunned Goldar. Tommy ducked under one putty's strike and struck the Z with an open palm strike. He then performed a jumping double sidekick, again striking the Z's on two putties at once. As soon as he landed he intercepted another putty with a spinning back kick and the last he flipped onto its back, and punched its Z plate. "is," Jason said finally finishing his sentence that had been hanging in the air.
"Whoa," Zack said in complete shock.
"That was..." Kat began at a loss for words.
"Incredible," Trini said slowly.
"Affirmative," Billy said, "How do you think he made that putty go flying like that? It sounded like a localized breaking of the sound barrier."
Goldar growled in fury as he covered his eyes with his left hand. "Lookout! He's going to fire!" Jason yelled to the stranger who simply stood in place. As Goldar flung his hand outward two fireball-like projectiles rocketed toward Tommy. Remaining calm he once again Tapped into The Force and held up his hands. Goldar's energy attack disappeared into what looked like blueish-white lights on Tommy's hands.
"I'll get him!" Bone Crusher yelled as he ran at Tommy. The rangers watched as the stranger held his right hand out at his side and from under his robe a small black object shot into his waiting hand. Then a green light shot out of the black item reminding the rangers of a sword made of some kind of energy.
Tommy slid to the side and flicked his wrist upward. The rangers watched expecting the two blades to clash together. Instead, the stranger's blade sliced clean through Bone Crusher's with what looked like no effort. Bone Crusher looked at his sword in shock and looked back at Tommy just in time to see the green blade slice through his body. He howled in pain before falling to the ground and exploding.
"This isn't over!" Goldar yelled before vanishing. Having heard Goldar yell the rangers turned their attention to him. By the time they turned their attention back to the stranger, he or she was gone.
"What the..." Zack said.
"Who was that?" Kat asked.
"Whoever it was, he or she knows how to fight efficiently," Billy said.
"You can say that again," Trini said.
"Something about how he fought was almost...familiar," Jason said in an unsure tone. "Let's get back to The Command Center. Maybe Zordon will have answers."
"Right," the others said as they all nodded, and a second later, they teleported away to consult their mentor.
When they landed in The Command Center, the rangers quickly removed their helmets and looked up at Zordon who was smiling down at them. "Welcome rangers." Zordon said happily.
The rangers looked at one another in confusion before Jason finally spoke. "Zordon, were you watching the battle?"
"I was rangers."
"Then who was that cloaked dude?" Zack asked. "It looked like he barely broke a sweat against the putties, Goldar, and Bone Crusher."
"Yeah, Zack's right," Kat said as she stepped forward.
"Do you know who that guy was Zordon?" Trini asked.
"Or at least if he's friendly?" Billy asked. "He seemed to have no affiliation with Zedd."
"Indeed I do rangers," Zordon said still smiling. "And so do most of you, but Alpha and I will let him explain." The rangers looked at one another confused. Before Jason could ask the question burning on their minds a voice called from behind them.
"Hey guys." the rangers turned to see the cloaked figure from the park. He reached up and pulled back his hood. "Guess whose back," he added with a smile.
"Tommy!" Jason, Zack, Billy, and Trini said excitedly.
"Welcome back bro!" Jason laughed as the two gave each other a five.
"Affirmative," Billy said with a broad smile.
"We missed you," Trini said wrapping him in a friendly hug.
"I missed you guys too," Tommy said before turning to Zack.
"Yo Tommy, you wiped the floor with Zedds goon," Zack said laughingly.
"Hi," he heard a sweet-sounding voice say in an Australian accent."I'm Katherine, Katherine Hillard," she said offering her hand. "But, my friends call me Kat."
"Good to meet you Kat," Tommy said with a smile as he shook her hand.
"I..uh, suppose we should talk," she said nervously.
"About what?" Tommy asked.
"About Kimberly, and what I did to her."
"I'm aware," Tommy said with a warm smile.
"H..how?" Kat voiced the question all of the others asked were wondering themselves.
"I saw it through The Force."
"'The Force?'" Billy asked, "So you did it then? You became a Jedi?"
"Yeah, I did. And Kat, did these guys tell you how I became a ranger?"
"Yeah, Kim mentioned it."
"You broke free of Zedd's influence all on your own. These guys had to destroy Rita's Sword of Darkness to free me from her control.
"I see," Kat said with a sigh of relief.
"Tommy, if I can ask what was that thing you had?" Jason asked.
"my lightsaber," Tommy answered as he took the hilt off of his belt and held it up. He pressed the switch activating the green blade. The others stood in awe as the energy sword hummed with power in Tommy's hand. He pressed the switch again, shutting it off and placing it back on his belt. "And that's not even the best part," he said with a smile. "Thanks to The Force, the green ranger powers are back, and at full power too," Tommy continued. "Dragonzord!" he called out and the green ranger stood before them fully morphed now with the Dragon Dagger hanging from its sheath on his left side and his lightsaber on his right. Seeing the green ranger once more caused the other ranges an Alpha to erupt into joyous cheers.
"Randers observe the viewing globe," Zordon instructed. "With the return of Tommy and the green ranger's powers, I can now present to you the Dragonzord Thunderzord," Zordon said as the image of a Zord resembling a European Dragon appeared on the viewing globe. They watched as it changed from a dragon to a medieval knight. "When combined with the Lion Thunderzord, Griffin Thunderzord, Unicorn Thunderzord, and Firebird Thunderzord, it will form the Thunder Megadragon Zord," Zordon added. The viewing globe now sowed the Unicorn and Grifin Thunderzords attached to the new Dragonzord's feet, the Firebird Thunderzord had formed a shield, and the Lion Thunderzord's body was on the Zord's back and it's front legs had become poldruns on the Zord's shoulders.
"Slammin'!" Zack laughed. "I bet Zedd thinks twice about attacking us now!"
