The Dream: Chapter 10

Walking threw her large temple, Genkai could sense Keiko and Yusuke were in the mediation room and his uneasiness was starting to level out, she walked past the kitchen to find the trio sitting around the large table; Yukina had her eyes closed mediating on keeping Lilly's energy from effecting her, Kuwabara was in the seat next to hers eyes closed while focusing on all the demons, Shizuru sat at the other end of the table and looked up at Genkai as she passed giving her a small smile and a simple nod. Well here goes nothing.

She walked out of the sliding front doors and closed them behind her, along with all her worries over the children inside, she looked to her right and saw Lilly sitting alone. Damn those fools. She looked to her left with narrowed eyes, the four men were at the edge of the temple, Rinku was shaking from Lilly's power while Chu and Touya were trying to calm him down. Taking a deep breath she sat down next to the young girl.

"Beautiful isn't it?" "Yeah I guess. What do you want Genkai? I'm not in the mood for any life lessons today, okay?" Scoffing at the young girl, Genkai continued to gaze upon the forest before her, "Fine, no life lessons. Just something to show you." For the first time that day Genkai got a glimpse of the young girls face, her eyes widened and pupils dilated. Lilly's eyes were glowing a bright red and were like lazars into her soul; Genkai blinked away the shock and returned her focus to the woods.

The young girl lowered her head once again, "Genkai can I ask you something and be completely honest with me." Without hearing a response, she continued, "Do you ever feel we aren't alone in this world, humans I mean, like there is something else out there? I don't want to say aliens, but just something?" "Yes." "What? Over these past few months, I can't explain it, but my body has been sensing so many new things. I feel like it isn't normal and I am frightened." Genkai let out a low laugh, placing her hand on top of Lilly's and smiled at her, "There is no need to be afraid, not while you are here."

Turning her attention back to the four men, she could see Rinku was not holding up well to the intense power – though he was a strong demon and one she personally trained, he was still young for a demon and was not use to the overwhelming power for this long of a duration. "Chu take Rinku." Knowing what the old woman meant the larger man bent down and lifted the small boy into his arms; almost instinctually Rinku clung to Chu and started to softly cry. "Now Touya, Jin come here please."

The two much older demons stood beside Genkai, not fearing Lilly's power and able to control their own enough to barely feel the effect.

"Lilly you are right," looking out upon the trees, "there is something else in this world besides humans. Though it is not aliens, it is different and most are rather dangerous. We should have told you as soon as you got here, but we worried you would not understand." She paused to look over at Lilly, who's body had not moved from its earlier defeated position. She let out another sigh, "Please try to understand we did not keep these things from you to hurt or trick you, only to protect you. This place is a safe haven, but not in the ways you think. The many creatures living here are not all human, but this is a place for them to learn how to live among them and to feel safe being themselves. And the power you are emitting currently is jeopardizing that safety. Lilly the many creatures that live here are demons." She waited for a response, but none came. She feared the young girl had not heard her, but once she placed her hand on Lilly's shoulder she heard the sound of small laughter that started to grow.

"Demons? Are you kidding me right now? You expect me to believe that?"

"No, that is why I wanted to show you. Jin."

Her blazing eyes shot up to met his; there was nothing in them except the rage. "You're telling me Jin is a demon? What next, Touya? Rinku? Or how about sweet little Yukina?" Though her eyes held no joy, her laughter was sweet. Genkai simply nodded at Jin knowing this was the only way to prove what was true.

"Alright if it's a show ya want, it's a show ya're gonna get." Closing his eyes and pulling each arm out next to him, hand face up, his energy started to grow. Once brown hair turned fire red, a small pearl colored horn appearing in the middle of his head, his ears elongated and started to wiggle, as a wide smile appeared on his face his canine teeth sharpened to a point. Finally, the wind picked up and lifted Jin a few inches off the ground. "There ya have it!"

Lilly's eyes widened, almost popping from her head, she couldn't believe what she was seeing. "Touya." Genkai's voice was firm and unaffected by the change. His appearance unlike Jin's did not change, but instead he grew a long sword from his arm made purely of ice and an icy cold chill hit the two women sitting on the bench.

The two stood in front of the awe struck girl, finally able to show her exactly who they were without hiding. After a few moments her eyes narrowed and the flames grew, "You two have been lying to me this whole time? Bastards!"

"Oy calm down little Lilly, we did as we were asked and that is only what." "Yes, do not blame us for the requests of others."

"And the other? All of you here are demons?" "No, let me explain."

The four sat on the front porch for hours going round for round, explain everything in extreme detail to Lilly, leaving no question unanswered. Finally, the fire in her eyes started to die back down, though her energy had not shifted.

"Now Lilly, you must rain back in your energy. You may not want to hear this, but you are hurting everyone." "What?" her voice spoke louder than her words, it was filled with regret and pain. "How am I hurting them, they look fine."

Laughing loudly as he normally did, Jin looked down at Lilly with ears wiggling, "We're not in pain, no. The strength of your power is not the first we have seen, is it Tou?"

"So…I'm hurting the others? Rinku? That's why he left, and Yukina? Yusuke?"

"Yes."

"Okay then. Help me Genkai." her eyes still red, were pleading with the old woman for help, she was in fact very afraid of the life she had walked into.

Genkai lowered her head slightly and let out a sigh. That went better than I had thought. Hiei and Kurama might be asses about it but screw those over self absorbed brats.

"Alright. Remember our meditation training with Keiko, it's the same idea. Close your eyes and concentrate. First try to see Jin and Touya's energy, and then we will find yours."

"What how am I supposed to do that? I don't understand!"

Her voice was scratchy and tired, "Focus, look for them in your mind."

They waited.

"I… I think I found them." Her eyes were closed and hands placed neatly in her lap, but inside her mind it was like a watercolor painting – two figures, fuzzy and waving, but each with their own color, both standing in front of her. She opened her eyes with a wide smile, "You both… are beautiful." A red tint brushed across her cheeks as the words slipped from her mouth.

"Enough with the small talk now focus on finding your own energy."

They waited again; as time ticked on they could feel Lilly's energy start to rise. She was getting aggravated and angry with not being able to sense anything except the three around her.

"Lilly try lifting yourself into the air, look down upon the temple, your energy is covering the whole building." Touya for the first time was starting to feel the effect of her power, his hands were shaking and he felt cold. A strange feeling for an ice demon, whom cold has no effect on.

She did as she was told and her breathing started to slow down, she felt a calmness wave over her as she finally saw her own energy, rose pink and powerful. "Okay now what?" "Pull it into yourself; it will fell like water raining down over your body. But instead of it washing away it will flow right into you."

Eyes closed tight, she started to pull. The feeling was exactly as Genkai had said and once she pulled the last bit into herself, the rage built up inside was gone. Slowly she opened her eyes, baby blues back where they belonged. "I did it."

"Yeah!" Jin took off spinning up into the air.

"Now," she looked older, more tired, more drained than before, "you must learn what your energy feels like while inside and learn to control it. Keep it in check. Your energy is connected to your emotions and with every new emotion there will be the chance you lose control."

"Will I ever get full control over it? Or will I have to work at it every day?"

"No Lilly, soon it will come more naturally and after awhile it will only be released when you command it. You did well today, Jin alert the others they can come back. It's been a long day and I'm sure everyone is hungry." Genkai rose to her feet and without another look walked back into the temple to check on Yusuke. She had felt his energy the whole time and he seemed to be getting worse.

So there it is, Lilly knows about demons! This is gonna be fun, her getting to know everyone all over again! And what is going on with Yusuke, why would he be getting worse? Stay tuned!
