The Dream: Chapter 11

"We have been looking around for 10 minutes and I can't help you if you don't tell me what you are looking for." The young ruler plopped down in his father's chair, while watching the two demons look over every book. "Wahh just tell me something!"

Hiei had had enough of Koenma's whining and spun around in his heels, appearing right before the young ruler. "If you don't shut up I will cut out your tongue."

"Then just tell me what you are looking for. I can help you know." Screaming back in the fire demon's face.

"Kurama?" Without a moment's pause for consideration or debate he told Koenma the only thing he needed to know. "Shizen."

"What? Oh no, you two can't be serious. You think she… is her? But that would mean..."

"Yes precisely."

"Oh okay, well the books on urban legends and such is over here. We are running out of time."

5 more minutes had past and it looked like the trio wasn't going to find what they came for before the soldiers came to investigate the office. "Foolish, the old man has nothing of importance. We should leave now." "But this doesn't make since," Koenma sunk into his father's chair once more utterly confused, "he would have something on her, anything. After all she is.." slamming his fists onto the desk in anger, "she is the creator after all. This makes no since." As if sensing the urgency in his demeanor a small drawer popped open to his left, presenting him with a large red button (I know clique but I love it). "What is this?"

Both Kurama and Hiei were at his side within a second, looking down at the tempting button with emotionless looks plastered to their faces. "Well infant, press it." "No Hiei we do not know what that button will do." "Yes, you're right Kurama but if your subsections are correct, then we are running out of time and have no other option." Koenma's hand shook as he reached for the red button hidden away in the secret drawer. Ohh I hope this helps, if they are right then we need my father's files on her. Taking a deep breath he pressed the button and like in the many human movies he had watched a small panel on the book case opened.

"Of course."

With only three minutes remaining they all walked over to the opened panel and inside was exactly what they were looking for. A large old book made of what seemed like dried flesh had two names across the front, 'Shizen and Ririsu.' Laying the book down on the desk the three stared at it, "This is what we came for, we must copy it and leave."

"Let's just take it." "Umm that won't work." "Oh and why not infant?"

Clearing his throat glaring at the red eyed demon, "Well you see, every book and artifact that my father owns has a tracking device so that if someone were to steal it, we would be able to find whomever it was to have it. That's how we found out you two stole the three artifacts way back when and sent Yusuke after you. No we can't just take it, but Kurama what did you mean by copy it?"

Without explain himself Kurama pulled a seed from his hair and placed it on top of the book, green vines started to grow covering the book and every page inside. "Whhhat..." Koenma even after knowing Kurama for many years, always seemed surprised at what his plants were capable of. The plant started to grow a stem with a large bud at the end, once it welted over and hit the desk a perfect copy of the book laid before them.

"Now we must go." "Yes but how? The only way out is the way we came in and we will not be able to outrun the guards." Kurama simply looked over towards Hiei, who was already smirking behind his bangs. "Fool to under estimate the Jagon eye, I have warned you about that many times." His Jagon eye started to glow and behind him grew a portal. "This is how you escaped last time?" "Yes. The Jagon eye gives me exactly what I need."

"Alright," using his plants to place the original book back in its hiding place and making sure all traces of their involvement was erased, "Let's go."

"Wait, but how do we know where this will take us?" "I know."

Koenma fidgeted around, debating whether he wanted to continue down this path knowing the consequences if he were to be caught. "If caught, lie. Tell your father you found us poking around and tried to stop us. Surely, the punishment will be something you can handle."

"Ye…Yes." This is a bad idea, Koenma. You should have never agreed to get involved.

Following Hiei into the portal with Kurama following after, they could hear the sounds of footsteps and alarms going off. "Here goes nothing I guess."

The feeling was liberating for Koenma, he had disobeyed his father many times, but this was the first time he felt excited to do so. No one was forcing his hand, it was simple curiosity that was driving him and he secretly loved it.

"So how do we…" "Brace yourself." With a flash of light Koenma found himself landing hard on his bottom, "Oww." Looking up to find both demons had landed on their feet next to him. "Wait we are in demon world, why would you bring us here Hiei? And how do you expect us to get back to human world without a portal in sight?"

"Fool." His Jagon eye started to glow once more. This time, Koenma landed on his feet as the three appeared a few feet from the back of the temple. "We made it and no guards are following us. Brilliant!"

"Something is wrong, the energy is off. Hiei." "Yes. Find what you need to read the book. I will find the strange energy." As he flickered onto the top of the roof, Kurama and Koenma made their way inside looking for the once person they knew could read the dead language inside the mysterious book.

Flickering onto the front porch Hiei's eyes burned with anger, "What are you doing?" Jin and Lilly both turned, "Hey Hiei, where did you come from?" "I asked you a question and I dislike repeating myself."

"Oh, hold on to your hair. No need to get tangled, I am just showing little Lilly the wind. She is quiet the quick learner and…" "Why?" His right arm started to emit black energy as he stared at the two. Jin was spinning wind around Lilly's body and effectively playing with her hair, pulling it into different styles. But what ate away at Hiei the most was the smile on her face, full of pure joy.

"Stop it Hiei, Jin was just showing me his amazing powers. They are incredible!"

"Stop what you are doing, now."

"Looks like the little sprout don't know how to have fun," looking down at Lilly with his ears wiggling, "Let us go then for a little whoop and zing?"

Giggling, Lilly reached up to take Jin's hand while waving at Hiei and then they shot up into the air high above the temple.

Damn it. Kurama better know more or else.
