The Dream: Chapter 14
"Girl you must focus." Genkai, Lilly and Keiko had been inside the meditation room for 4 hours, but Lilly's progress was at a standstill; she couldn't get the horrible images of her dream out of her head, plus the guilt of hurting everyone she cared about only a few days prior. Taking another long sigh, she tightly closed her eyes and tried to focus on the energies around her, but couldn't see anything except darkness. "I can't do this, ugh, this is so stupid. Keiko how is this coming so easy for you?" Startled by her name being called, she opened her big brown eyes, "Uhh I don't know, I guess I've always had it. I could always sense when Yusuke was in real trouble. I don't know." "Stop your whining and focus!" "Geenkai, this isn't working. Can't I just go train with Hiei or something?" "No you ignorant girl, if all you do is train and you happen to lose control over your energy, then where would we be? Do you want that to happen again?" "Well… no." "Then shut up and focus."
"Damn they sure have been in there for a long time, do you ever remember Genkai going this hard on us?" "Naw man, probably cause we weren't as strong as Lilly is when we started. Do you think this is gonna work? I mean should we all still be here? Maybe some of us should go back to the city for awhile." "Oh what Kuwabara are you scared of the little rosebud?" "No. Just, last time… Yukina took it pretty hard and… I don't know man, just worried about her I guess." Understanding his friend's worry for his girlfriend, Yusuke had to admit that deep down he had been thinking the same. "Yeah, I hear ya. I've been thinking the same about Keiko. Maybe we could convince all the girls to head to the city for a few weeks."
"Lazy fools." "Hey Hiei, how's it going?" "Bored out of mind of listening to you two whine over some females." "What's that shortstack? Whine over some females? That's your sister you're talking about." "Yes and I know perfectly well that she can handle herself. Far better than you can Oaf." "Why I oughta."
Ugh if those guys are going to fight like high school boys, then they need to do it somewhere else. I can't even think with all their bitching. "Alright we are done for today." Lilly looked up at Genkai and then over at the clock. Oh wow it's been another hour since I closed my eyes, but how? "You are improving fast Lilly, while meditating your body is letting your energy flex but not enough to cause any damage. It is a good starting point. We will continue tomorrow morning at 4 AM." "What 4 AM, come on Genkai have a heart! Give us a break, how about instead we all stay up and watch sappy romantic movies and you let me and Botan do your nails?" "No," then the older woman took her exit, not waiting anything to do with that conversation.
"Lilly how long are you going to keep trying to get her to play the role of grandma?" "Well let's see, I've been here for 3 months now. I'd say give me another two weeks and I'll have her at one of our sleep overs." The two girls were lost in their own laughter and mental images of Genkai having a pillow fight that they completely ignored the three boys standing outside of the door, as they made their way to the kitchen. "Who do you think would win? Shizuru or Genkai?" "Genkai for sure, she can out smoke Shizuru any day, I've seen it."
"Hello Keiko, Hello Lilly. What are you two talking about?" "Hey Yukina, oh just planning out the sleep over we're going to have with Genkai." "What? Master Genkai is going to join us?" "Lilly hopes, I don't see that happening anytime soon. You might have a better chance of getting Hiei in a pink tutu." The three girls were a giggling wreck, all coming up with more and more ridiculous images of what a true house wide sleep over would entail. "Well, if that's the case. Then I will be the first to braid Kurama's hair." "Or paint his nails; he is a very pretty man. Don't you think Lilly?" Winking at her newly founded friend, Keiko and Lilly were almost as bad as Yusuke with pointing fun at each other in the form of sexual jokes.
"Yes Kurama is pretty but Yusuke's demon form is quite impressive too." "What was that Yukina? You think Yusuke is hot? Ohh Keiko you got some competition, but really have either of you seen Hiei without a shirt. Talk about muscles galore." Lilly loved moments like these, when it was just the girls and they got to drool over the many attractive men in the house; especially since neither Keiko nor Yukina felt her presence near them was a threat. It was the first time she had true girl friends and she loved every second of it. "If talking about muscles, Kazuma has really grown up since we first met him, right Keiko?" "Yeah, Lilly you never saw him before. He is at least twice the size as he used to be, but then again so is Hiei."
"What about me?" The laughter of the three girls stopped on a dime as the deep harsh voice cut through the room, all turning to find Hiei standing in the door way. "Oh nothing Hiei, just talking about how short you use to be." Growling as the laughter picked up again, he glared at the former detective's woman, "Be careful Keiko, Yusuke isn't around to save you and smart comments like that could get your tongue ripped from your mouth."
"Hiei we are just kidding, here I made you some pie. I know it's your favorite." "Hn. You cannot bribe me with pie, sister. I want to hear what else you were saying." The girls shared a look before nodding gentle towards one another and now it was Lilly's turn to pipe up, "Hiei don't be so short, we were just having a little fun." They were completely silent, waiting for the puns to register in his mind, Lilly's smug smile started to slip upon her lips. "Little flower you will pay for your insolence." Their laughter was uncontrollable at this point, all three leaning over themselves trying to catch their breath, watching the taller demon kill them with his eyes.
I can't believe I ever wanted to leave. As messed up as this group may be, they have to be the kindest people I have ever met. I love it here.
"Don't get to cocky little flower, even the strongest of roses wilt."
"What? Hiei?"
"Hn. Your tongue is getting as bad at Yusuke's and I am not amused."
Her eyes found their way to the red ones that were drilling into her skull. Had she imagined it? Was he really talking to her in her own mind? The smaller girl walked straight up to his and looked deep into his eyes. Curiosity killed the cat, but damn that cat. She reached up and with one fast twist of her hand, she ripped off the bandana upon his forehead. "Lilly what are you doing? Hiei does not like to be touched, you know that. Hiei don't do anything rash." Botan had come out of nowhere just at the exact moment to watch Lilly rip off Hiei's white bandana, and a shock wave of fear hit the bouncy reaper.
Lilly gazed up at Hiei's third eye, not in fear or curiosity but in awe. It was beautiful to her, the purple color and the way it looked straight into her soul; standing there surrounded by a group of worried girls, Lilly found herself opening up completely to Hiei's Jagon eye. Stepping back from the shorter girl, Hiei looked away from her as his Jagon eye closed, "That is enough. Next time I will not stop it from reading into your mind. Think before you act little flower or all your secrets will become mine."
Sorry lovelies, I know I am not moving all too fast with the story line of who Lilly truly is. But I can't help the fluff chapters, they beg me to write them while I'm at work all morning and I can't say no to a little fluff.
