The Dream: Chapter 22

Lilly stirred in her sleep, her mind starting to wake up to the world around her, she stretched her arms out above her head and again found herself laying in something that felt like a cloud. She opened her eyes slowly while letting the sunlight pour onto her face. Am I in Kurama's room? Why? She sat up and at the end of the bed, next to the table that held that wonderful flower, was Kurama; his eyes never left the book in his hands, while he simply waited for her to regain her surroundings. Slowly she rolled over towards him, laying on her back with her head at the end of the bed looking up at him. "Hey." His eyes drifted from the book to connect with hers, "Hello Lilly, are you feeling alright?" "Umm…" looking at her hands that now were stretched out in front of her, "Yeah I think so. How long was I out for?" "Five days." "What?" her eyes snapping back to find his, "Five days? But… But how?"

"Lilly tell me what you last remember of your fight with Youko's plant." Looking back at her hands, her mind started to clear as she thought back to that fight. "Well I remember having the plants energy in my hands, I remember pulling it back into itself and then nothing. What happened?" "You passed out after that point. Youko has decided to help you train in an effort to control your growing powers." "Really?" "Yes, but he will not help until you are fully healed." "Ohh… well that makes since."

There was a long pause of silence; Kurama had returned his attentions to his book, while Lilly stared out the window towards the passing clouds. "It was different than before." "What was?" Their eyes never met again while she told him the story about what had happened out in the forest, how all the plants around her screamed out in pain, the feeling she got when she lifted herself into the air and looked down upon what she had done. After telling him the story she sat up, her back towards him. "It was horrible. You see that's why it must be Youko who teaches me. The power was so addictive, but yet it broke me inside to cause so much pain. I am scared my dream is a warning of what I could be capable of and… and Youko… he isn't afraid of hurting me. He will strike me down to teach me control and… well… I need that. I need that fear of what I could do to learn control. You understand right?"

Again there was another pause, Kurama staring at the young girls back, smelling the stream of fresh tears run down her face, hearing Youko snicker inside his mind. "I understand. Hiei will as well… in time."

At the name of the other demon Lilly had found herself developing feelings for – though she did not know it at the time – she spun around to face Kurama. "Have you heard from Hiei? Has he found Touya? Has Jin come back?" Kurama couldn't suppress his low laughter at her questions. "Feel for yourself."

Lilly closed her eyes and opened her mind, searching around the temple for the three energy signatures she had been worried about. Her eyes snapped open, "Jin's back!" Jumping from his bed, she ran around the temple looking for her brotherly wind demon.

Rounding the corning of the temple, towards the front entrance, she slammed into another body toppling over themselves. Lilly rubbed her head and looked down; she was straddling none other than Yusuke while he was laughing up at her. "I know it's been awhile, but damn Lilly give a guy some warning before you mount him." "Shut up Yusuke." Realizing he was back, she leaned down and hugged the young man, "When did you get back? Is Keiko with you? Have you seen Jin? Where is Genkai? How are Kuwabara and Yukina? Oh I've missed everyone so much." "Wow calm down! Yes Keiko is with me, we are here for the weekend like every weekend. Kuwabara is over on the porch pouting." "Shut it Urameshi, I am not pouting." "And Jin is helping Genkai inside."

Lilly jumped off the boy and offered her hand to help him up, "So what did he have to go do for her?" "Naw you have to wait like the rest of us. Kuwabara seems to be the only one that knows but won't spill." Standing outside the main doors, Lilly bounced from foot to foot waiting for Jin to come out, "Ugh what is taking so long." A familiar voice spoke from behind her, "Patience Lilly, they are almost done."

"Oh hey Kurama, how you been man? Heard from short stack lately? I felt him cross over a few days ago, I thought he would have come back by now." "No, I can't say I have. But Koenma will be here tomorrow and I'm sure Hiei will show up by then."

Before she could respond to the conversation taking place around her, the front doors slid open and a laughing demon floated out the door with arms wide open. "JIIINNN!" she jumped into his arms, he lifted her from the ground and spun the two around mid-air. "Jin I have missed you." "Ah little Lilly, good to see ya. Keeping everyone busy, I heard."

After he finally sat her back on the ground, Lilly looked up at him, "Where have you been?" "Come inside and see for yourself." Genkai had appeared in the door way, looking at all the youthful faces around her – her family.

"What the hell grandma? You sent Jin to go get you furniture?" "Yeah, why she didn't ask us I don't know." Kuwabara's shoulders were slumped as he spoke. "Because you cry baby, you couldn't have carried all these up the long stairs like Jin could. Don't be an idiot." Laughing loudly at Kuwabara's reaction and Genkai's insults, "Yeah man, you would have gotten half way and begged for our help like always." "Why you!"

"Boys, no more fighting in the house. After Hiei lit half the living room on fire, the fighting will have to be taken place outside." "Yeah okay Genkai."

"So you really sent him to get furniture? Why did you just tell us?" Lilly was standing between a serious Kurama and a giggling Jin. "Surprise I guess. Who knows, I have to keep some of you on your toes."

After Genkai had arranged the furniture a way that would best suit everyone who lived there, Jin and Lilly walked outside. "Oh Jin so much has happened since you were gone. Watch." Lilly climbed up onto the banister of the porch and jumped into the air, letting the wind catch her and lift her high above the temple. "Oy, the wind, you control it too?" Within seconds Jin was floating up in the sky with Lilly, "Yeah and so many other things. Things are about to get weird though, I can feel it. Touya's still not back. Hiei I guess is in human world, but hasn't returned either and Koenma is coming down tomorrow for another group meeting. Probably about me. Ugh I just wish I knew everything already." "No worries Lilly! It will be okie, Tou will come back soon and we will take that trip. Yeah?" "Ohh yeah. Trust me I haven't forgotten about that."
