The Dream – Chapter 30
Yusuke stood outside the back of the temple, closer to the woods with a single bag slung over his shoulder as he whistled to himself; he turned when he heard arguing coming from behind him. "Sup Lilly you ready to go?" She jumped over the banner of the porch with ease, holding her own small bag while in her sports bra and his training pants, once again – she found them oddly more comfortable than her own and had been meaning to ask where he got them, but with the constant bickering with Hiei she hadn't found the time. Yusuke scanned her up and down to make sure she would be comfortable on their trip, he nodded at her before his eyes narrowed, "Are those my pants?" "Um," she giggled to herself, "Yeah Touya mixed our laundry a while back and I just love them so much, please let me keep them." Yusuke grinned at her, "Explains the random underwear I found in my load, Keiko had a fit about that. Claimed I was cheating on her. You can keep the pants if you explain to her what happened when we get back, she is still a little mad about it all." Lilly agreed. "So this party growing to three or did Hiei become your shadow since I was here last?" She groaned while rolling her eyes, not wanting to get into it again, "He thinks you won't protect me and has been pouting about it for weeks, please tell him everything will be okay and to stop being such a baby about this." After another hour of loud arguing, Kurama placed a gentle hand on Hiei's shoulder. "They will be fine, but we need to talk."
Lilly kissed both men before linking her arm with Yusuke's, she was practically jumping up and down with excitement. "So hold your breath okay? From what Kuwabara said, this is will feel like you're drowning if you don't. And don't worry small fry; I won't let anyone touch your girl. After all she is part of the family now." Winking at the still anger demon, Yusuke wrapped his lose arm around Lilly's body, holding her to him as he jumped backwards into the portal.
Lilly and Yusuke had been walking for two days straight and they finally arrived to Raizen's territory, or better served his territory, and were greeted by three bald monk looking demons. "Welcome back Yusuke Urameshi son of Lord Raizen. Who is this?" The three men narrowed their eyes at the human girl before them, as she ignored them all together to gap at the world around her, "This is Lilly Rose, a good friend and a powerful being. So don't mess with her or you will have me to deal with." They nodded at their young king, but kept a close eye on the human before them, they could feel her energy was not all human.
Sitting in a large room in his temple, the three monks again asked why Yusuke had come back before his arranged time. He explained what had happened over the past 8 months with Lilly and her energy and the effect it had on him, he explained all they knew about Shizen and wanted to find out more information. The monks all nodded and asked that Lilly show her power before they could direct the pair. Out in the training court, Lilly looked to Yusuke with concern in her eye but he ignored it to remind her that they had agreed this type of training could help. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath in, smelling the blood in the air, the death that soiled the ground, the fear in the hearts of the many that lived in this world; when her eyes opened again they were blood red and her energy whipped around her like a tornado. Yusuke fell to the ground, screaming in pain while his body forcefully shifted into its demon form; the three monks stood frozen. Once Lilly pulled her energy back, she ran to Yusuke's side and helped him stand on his own again then both pairs of eyes were on the quiet monks. "So?" "Lord Yusuke, she should not be here." "But why? You saw what happened to Yusuke, don't you have any answers?" The three exchanged odd looks and then narrowed their deadly gaze back onto the girl, "Leave this world and never come back. You are not welcome here." Yusuke sped forward and grabbed the monk by the shirt, lifting him off the ground as he growled with anger, "I told you to treat her with respect, now tell me what you are not saying. Why should she not be here?" "She will awaken the queen if she stays." "The queen?" "Yes my lord," another one of the monks was bowing his head as he spoke, "her energy will awaken Ririsu." "And about why her power is affecting me?" "That we do not know. Truly, we have never seen someone's energy do that to a demon, especially one as powerful as you." Yusuke slowly dropped the monk back to his feet and looked at Lilly, "So what do you say, do we stay or do we go?" She was silent for a long time, battling a war inside her own mind. Her eyes snapped to meet Yusuke's, "We came for answers and that's what we are going to get. We just need to hurry." "Okay you heard her, who can help us?"
After another three days of walking, the pair had made their way to the city of the scholars. They had asked everyone for information and it seemed anyone who might have known anything were keeping their lips shut tight, the only useful thing the pair was told was to leave and not come back. Lilly was pacing as Yusuke leaned against a nearby tree, "Maybe we should go back and sent Touya here to find something else out?" "No! We came for answers Yusuke. I mean shit we have been here for only 5 days and every time I power up you get better at controlling yourself. Other than your hair, no one would know I am affecting you." "Yeah but what about this Ririsu lady?" Lilly stopped her pacing and turned towards her friend, she radiated confidence but also nervousness as her hands started to fidget. "Okay you might not like this but… what if we wake her up? We could ask her about all this, who else would know more about this than her?" Yusuke closed his eyes to think of all their possible options and after what felt like a nervous wreck of a year he answered, "How about before we awaken the creature of all of demon world, we just go talk to Shizen in spirit world? Botan could get us in and after how you two have bonded, I'm sure she would do it behind binky-breathes back." Lilly's eyes spot open wide, Yusuke had a great point and it was a good plan, she knew he had a brain behind all the smart-assed comments. "Alright, but we aren't going to tell Hiei until we get back. Deal?" Yusuke smirked at her, "Oh yeah, deal!"
"Come on Botan, this is our only option unless you want me to awaken some all powerful creature of demon world goddess." The blue haired reaper was standing nervously in the corner of her office, hands shaking in front of her face, a fake smile painted on as she was refusing to help the pair that had popped in to ask her to go behind her bosses back to let them into the depths of Spirit World's prison. "I can't." "Botan please! You saw Yusuke last time I went full power while training with Youko, please! Can't you do something to help us out?" "I… well it's against the rules." "Damn it Botan, when was the last time you listened to Koenma anyways? Shit you come to the demon world tournaments every year they play out. What's this compared to that?" The reaper thought for a moment. Yusuke has a point, I do like to break Koenma's rules. But this is dangerous and could get me in a lot of trouble. Though I don't see the hurt in it if it is help Yusuke, he might not be our spirit detective anymore but he has always been on the side of peace. "Okay, but only for a few minutes." "Ohh Botan you are the best." Lilly jumped towards the smiling girl and wrapped her into a tight hug.
