LISA
It was this day exactly a year ago when Jennie moved into my house. We needed to celebrate, so I prepared a picnic and drove us both to the beach. We nestled in the shade, the heat already making the early summer hot. We were wearing bikinis, and Jennie's body was tanned already, the sun clinging easily to her skin.
She laughed when she found my gaze sliding down her navel, going up and pausing on her breasts, barely covered by the thin fabric. She always made me hungry for her touch.
I looked into her eyes. "I was thinking," I said and took a deep breath, moving closer to her. The anticipation, fear, excitement, all mixed in my heart.
She grazed my chin with her fingers. "What?" she whispered.
"Would you like …" I stuttered. My heart was so loud in my chest. "Would you be interested in spending your life with me as my wife?"
She prepped on her elbow. "Are you proposing?" She smiled.
"Actually, I am," I laughed and opened my palm. A delicate ring was lying there. It was white gold with a stone that shone brightly under the sun. My heart skipped a beat as I looked at Jennie's face.
"Will you marry me?" I asked.
There wasn't a moment of hesitation. Jennie instantly threw her hands around me.
"Yes. Yes! I want to spend every moment of my life with you."
A wave of relief and happiness washed over me. I found her lips with mine and kissed the woman I loved. Then, I took her hand, sand clinging to my palm, and slid the ring on her finger. It fit perfectly.
"You know, I love you." I smiled.
"Oh, I know." She kissed me again, sweetness on her tongue.
I was going to marry the woman of my dreams. Sun warmed our bodies, and the ocean waves whispered just a few feet away. My lips pressed against Jennie's, and I realized that my life was a miracle.
THE END . . .
