When Athena was 14 she met Finn Collins. She was trying to sneak off to hangout with Murphy when she fell out of the vents and landed at his feet as he was stealing extra rations.

The next few times they saw each other they would make up ridiculous names for each other.
That went on for months & they eventually became friends. He even introduced her to his girlfriend Raven Reyes.
And when she was 16 the guards decided they were tired of having to escort her to her cell every night so they finally locked her up.
