Authors Notes: Hello everyone Knight121198 here and I'm here to post my first ever fan fic ever! Its not much so far since I'm not very good at writing or getting my ideas down in a way people can properly envision in their minds so I consider this whole thing a writing exercise so enjoy(or not)what i have so far.
Not enough Self Inserts for Stargate so I had a notion for one involving Jay Felger, thought that would be a good place to insert a bit of fun.
Chapter 1
Location Unknown.
Groggy and clouded was my mind as I awoke, my head resting on my arms. Slowly I began to raise my head, straightening my back and feeling the popping of bad posture within my spine from my unfortunate napping position. Taking a moment to look around and finding myself confused because I had no idea where I was. It looked like some kind of lab, computers and machinery everywhere and yet a strange familiarity came over me about my surroundings.
"I have no memory of this place" I say to myself, channeling my inner grey wizard, Gandalf.
Walking around the room, I find myself coming upon a mirror in the corner and gasping at the sight I see.
"What the fuck!" I exclaimed, 'why the hell do I look like FELGER!' my mind screamed at me.
James (Jay) Felger from the fantastic sci fi show Stargate Sg1, he was a mediocre, bumbling scientist that ended up fading into obscurity. Grasping my head I try to remember the last thing that happened before I woke up here in someone else's body.
'Ok' I thought, 'I was walking home from work thinking about watching a some Sg1 before dinner, when..when...' "Damn it" I mumble in frustration, what the hell was going on, why couldn't I remember what happened!?
looking towards the table where a laptop sat along with a glass of water, a small plastic packet of some kind and what looks like a note, walking over to the laptop I could see a screen filled with data, data I shouldn't have a clue about what was displayed upon its surface, except.
"How come I know what this is? Oh god do I have Felger's knowledge too!?"
Area 51, Groom Lake.
Picking up the note on the table I began to read, what I read shocks me so much that I had to sit down. 'This cant be real' I thought to myself, I re-read the letter just to make sure I was not hallucinating any of this.
"Dear unfortunate mortal, I suppose you are wondering whats going on, well I am sorry to say that before you awoke here in this new body, you in fact, died. You died saving the life of a little girl that walked into the street and you pushed her out of the way before a truck hit her, unfortunately for you, you did not survive the encounter, but as a reward I have given you a new chance at life, taking over the existence of one James Felger, I have also given you another gift in the small packet on the desk"
I lift the small packet and I see what appears to be a clear pill or tablet of some kind, and what the letter says it is really throws me for a loop.
"What you have there is the perfected version of the NZT-48 drug from the movie and television show Limitless, this is to allow you to permanently increase you IQ and mental abilities far beyond what you are currently naturally capable off, this way you should become the leader in what ever field you wish to pursue, I wish you the best of luck in your new life, make it a good one.
Yours, a passing multidimensional being.
P.S Best to destroy this note, wouldn't want to have to answer any difficult questions now would we."
I sit there for what seems like hours but in fact only a few seconds had passed by 'this is all real isn't it?' I think to myself. Quickly destroying the note I began by tearing it into tiny little pieces and throwing it away in separate waste paper baskets, no one could piece this thing back together. I then walk back to the counter and pick up the little pill and without a seconds hesitation I downed it with some water, pausing briefly I waited for it to take effect.
"Huh maybe its not going to wor-" I gasped as it seemed a veil was lifted from my mind, my pupils dilated then all of a sudden it felt like the whole universe was open to me almost as if I was going through some kind of monumental spiritual awakening, taking a deep breath through my nose my mind began to make connections to ideas I had never thought was possible before now, only flights of fancy from and imaginative Sci fi nerd but know could become reality.
Felgers natural intellect was pretty decent but now? Now it was beyond anyone on this planet by a very wide margin.
I turn to the open laptop that was on the desk, hyperspace field calculations for the Prometheus, huh so from Jay's memories, or should I say my memories now, the BC-304 was still in the design phase and it was about 6 months till the end of the year, more over the Prometheus has already been in service for several months to rather poor results, I had about maybe 7 or 8 months until the Goa'uld Anubis attacked Earth, plenty of time for the new James Felger to make his mark and maybe apply all these ideas I had as just a fan of the show into practical applications, I mean come on lets be honest shall we, railguns? Refitted missiles? We could do SO much better and I had every intention to do just that.
My first act though was to finish the hyperspace field calculations that was due on Friday giving me four more days left, the original Felger had been procrastinating for weeks because he didn't have any confidence in himself and was afraid to make mistakes, he was going to wait for someone else to help him finish it after he got an ear full from his bosses, how had this guy not been fired yet?
Well I was not that James Felger, no I was the new and improved version, Felger 2.0 as it were and I was going to be no ones whipping boy, 7 minutes that's how long it took me to do the hyperspace field calculations, not only did I do it in record time but I also think the Prometheus is going to be faster then anyone thought it could be, at least with that Al'kesh hyperdrive she was currently stuck with, maybe I should design my own!
Now, I had four days plus whats left of this one until I had to go to the staff meeting, I use those few days I had to create the designs for a hyper velocity, heavy plasma repeater cannon based off the Kull warrior wrist mounted plasma weapon that was retrieved only a week ago, railguns are nice and all as a point defense weapon, but the only time they were ever actually useful was when the Daedalus got lucky against that Wraith hive in the battle of the void, the battle that lost us the Orion if memory serves.
No. New Felger was intent on turning Earths BC-304s into the badasses of two galaxies but for now I had to turn the Prometheus into a more respectable combat craft for the defense our world.
I also made a preliminary design for a new missile platform that would use not only naquadah enhanced nukes but would also have a standard payload of naquadah/potassium warheads, the missile would be powered by a liquid naquadah power core and use ionic propulsion technology, the missile would also produce an energy field around itself for low level protection against enemy fire, this platform would be several times faster then the current missile system and capable of evasive tactics to allow for higher rate of shots on target.
"Note to self, check out Lantian drones when they become available for research" 'might as well see if I can reverse engineer some of that phasing tech' I thought to myself, it was a good plan especially with my mind open to being capable of so much more then a normal humans I knew I could succeed where others failed.
Saving the designs to a flash drive and making sure my laptop was properly fire-walled against any external intrusions, a few new algorithms was all that was needed for that, I left for the day.
After the three days had passed and giving the designs a few more levels of refinement, I was happy to discover I had the last day free, so I decided to go ahead and design that new hyperdrive to replace that nasty Al'kesh one the Prometheus was currently using, essentially it was a more advanced version of the original one that was designed in part by Major Carter.
My mind was working like a quantum computer churning out designs faster then any human had a right too, I knew it was perhaps to fast, I mean one day to design a hyperdrive, even if I was using another design as a framework it was still quite absurd, but you know what? I didn't care one bit and before I knew it, it was now the day of the staff meeting and time for phase one of operation "Earth Badass" to begin.
Walking down the corridor to the conference room I couldn't help but chuckle to myself about all the advances and changes I was going to make to this world, I was roused from my introspection by a fellow scientist that came running from behind me trying to get my attention.
"Jay!" the man called out, looking over my shoulder I spot none other then Doctor Simon Coombs, Jay's best friend for lack of a better term. I continue on my way to the meeting as Coombs falls into step alongside me.
"Simon, hows your day going so far?" I asked, smiling like I had not a care in the world, for some reason that seemed to throw my new/old friend off a bit.
"Jay were you able to complete the calculations? I can help a little if you're still stuck-"
"Simon" I cut him off. "You've been asking me this for nearly 4 days now and I told you before that its fine, I finished it a while ago, its all good. How about you weren't you calibrating the magnetic fields for the Prometheus' new railguns?" 'waste of resources really' I couldn't help think to myself.
Coombs looked at me like I grew a new head all of a sudden, my new self confidence must have thrown him off it seems. "Ah-um yes, the team I'm on finished it just this morning and we are gonna move onto the 304s railguns next".
"Oh ya?" I reply "Well hopefully that will change today, Colonels Caldwell and Ronson will be at the meeting today wont they?"
"Um yes?" replied Coombs well and truly confused as to his friends strange new confidence, he continued. "And what do you mean hopefully that will change?"
"You'll see my friend, you'll see." I smirked as we enter into the room.
Said room was full of scientists as well as some military personnel, Colonel Steven Caldwell, commander of the as yet to be named X-304, sitting next to him was Colonel William Ronson the current commander of the X-303 Prometheus and our Asgard advisor Vizeer who was here to help integrate Asgard technology into the 304s design from the ground up unlike Prometheus which still suffers from integration issues, as an advisor he was here to assist only and new Felger will have him assisting greatly in this meeting, what better way to validate your ideas then having a member of one the most intelligent races ever say to your detractors that what your selling is in fact a superior product, a smile crept on my lips, today was gonna be the beginning of operation Earth Badass!
As the meeting began I really tried to remain interested but it was kinda hard when they were all being boring as hell, but before long we finally got around to me when the lead scientist for area 51 a Doctor Phillip Robinson addressed Colonel Ronson all the while directing a condescending tone of voice in my direction, old Felger was quite used to it but I was gonna have none of that shit.
"And of course Doctor Felger has completed the hyperspace field calculations for your ship Colonel Ronson, isn't that right Dr. Felger?" He said with a smug smirk upon his face. Damn jumped-up bastard, i'll show him.
"That's right Colonel I have" I said calmly while keeping eye contact with Robinson who seemed to pause in shock for a moment.
Robinson's surprise was evident 'sit back jackass its my turn now' I thought gleefully.
Getting up I placed my laptop in front of Vizeer, I then continued on. "As you can see not only have I completed the calculations but I have also streamlined the subspace field to allow for a much more efficient power to speed ratio while in hyperspace". Silence, now cue Doctor asshole.
"Doctor Felger I do hope you don't consider this to be a laughing matter but I do no-"
"Impressive" the Asgard spoke aloud cutting off the tongue lashing that Robinson was preparing to give me, a smirk gracing my lips, "most impressive Doctor, this is along similar lines that we Asgard have used to advance our own hyperspace sciences, this will definitely increase the Prometheus' speed buy a margin of 17 percent at the very least".
"I predict a 23 percent increase in speed for no more then an extra 5 percent power drain, something I plan on negating entirely with a simple recalibration of the field emitter coils on the subspace field generators themselves." Everyone simply stared dumbfounded as I continued to play mental tennis with the Asgard advisor.
"A fine idea, I can assist in those recalibrations if you would like Doctor Felger" offered Vizeer.
It was time to make friends with an Asgard, and if I could get Vizeer on board with my ideas, then everything I had planned could be implemented quickly and with a minimum of fuss. "That would be most agreeable Vizeer thank you." I inclined my head in a short bow to the Asgard to which I received one in turn, mutual respect from an Asgard, that is what I got.
"Also if you would be so kind as to look over this new design I had for an upgraded version of the original hyperdrive that was built by us, I took a crack at a new design and I would very much like your input". Vizeer accessed the design on the tablet and I could hear him hum in appreciation, the looks of shock around me were ones to remember.
"Very impressive doctor this design is quite viable, and would be easy to implement upon the original design your people already created." I gave my thanks and moved back to my seat, one last step now.
Colonel Caldwell finally decided to speak up at this point. "Vizeer are you positive these designs and calculations are sound? Doctor Felger is not really well known for being right about things like this". I didn't take it personally and I said as much, thankfully my new Asgard friend gave his guarantee that both my designs and calculations were sound and the meeting moved on, when we got to the weapons on both the 304 class and Prometheus the last step for today for new Felger was about to begin.
Doctor Robinson began, his smug smile once again finding its place on his face, 'gonna knock that off again buddy' "Colonels, the new railguns and missiles are more then ready to be added to the Prometheus for testing now, these weapons are more advanced then the Prometheus' own weapons and are capable of about 50 percent more damage against enemy targets".
He continued smiling as Caldwell and Ronson reviewed the specs on the weapons, they were knocked from their musing when my voice sounded off, verbalizing the one thing I always thought about the Earth ships stock weapons package.
"Is that something we should be proud of?" I could hear gasps from all around me, Coombs was looking at me like I'd gone nuts, Caldwell and Ronson looked amused but interested and Vizeer seemed alert and intrigued, Robinson though looked like he wanted to strangle me.
"Is there something you wished to add Doctor Felger?" asked Ronson.
"Yes sir I do, compared to the galactic standards we come up against on a daily basis out there, these weapons -I point to the screen on the wall mounted display- are a joke, and a poor one at that. Don't get me wrong the railgun technology is a good step ahead but those weapons can only be useful for interception and point defense duties only, nothing more, and don't get me started on the missiles! Those things haven't done anything for anyone, they are slow, easy to intercept and are incapable of effective damage on any target larger then an Al'kesh or Death glider." I said nodding my head to the officer.
"And what would you suggest Doctor? That our ships go into combat with nothing?" Ronson asks.
I grinned back. "Of course not sir, I think we should have something far, far better". Pressing a button on my tablet I transferred my designs to the wall mounted screen and got up from my seat, everyone's eyes follow me to the screen as I began an impromptu show and tell.
"This Colonel Ronson, Colonel Caldwell, is a design for a new turret weapon system that would make the railguns look like water pistols.
The Heavy plasma repeater cannon, a design based off of captured Kull warrior weapons technology will be capable of delivering a plasma projectile encased in a multiphasic magnetic bottle which will be capable of shield penetration as well as heavy hull damage, with two modes of fire, interception and assault.
In interception mode the weapons power is set to one forth its full power and will fire at a speed of 700 rounds per minute, this is generally used for interception of incoming fighter craft or weaponry.
The second firing mode. Assault. Will fire at a speed of 400 rounds per minute and will use the full power of the weapon, each ball turret holds one of these repeater cannons and with a range 3 times that of the effective range of the railguns.
The turret housing itself will be set on a gravitic cushion and turning controlled by gravitic pulse generators which will allow for insanely fast tracking allowing the weapons to be used for point defense operations far more effectively then the railgun design which is purely mechanical, just one of these turrets can turn a type one Ha'tak class ship into confetti in short order, just imagine four or five of them working together".
I pause to let this all sink in, Caldwell and Ronson were in shock, I could see in their eyes that they were doubtful that the new weapons could do what I said they could but I also saw hope, had I not had Vizeer vouch for my work and designs earlier I probably would have been laughed out of the room. All the other scientists including Robinson and Coombs where slack jawed.
It was difficult keeping a straight face but thankfully I was able to stay professional, glancing at our Asgard advisor I could see his eyes moving over my design with a critical eye, every so often seeing little nods of his head hopefully indicating that the design was sound, he found my hypedrive design very effective so he had a decent amount of confidence in my work so far. I continued on with my presentation.
"Next I have a new missile platform code named "Talon", this missile package will be capable of delivering a warhead at several times the rated speed of our current conventional missiles and will also be capable of built-in evasive patterns, also it will be protected by a low level energy field for defensive purposes.
The warheads it will carry our new mark seven and eight tactical naquadah enhanced nukes as well as a more conventional warhead for normal ship to ship engagements, a naquadah/potassium warhead that will cause heavy enemy shield instability as well as heavy enemy hull damage, the missile will be powered by a small liquid naquadah fuel cell and will use ionic propulsion technology. That's all I've come up with so far, but I still have several ideas I have to put down that can enhance Earths defensive and offensive capabilities".
To say everyone was floored would be an understatement, I decided to add just one more thing a last nail in the coffin of the old Felger "Colonels, sirs, we can do much better then what is currently being offered – I gestured to Doctor Robinson- all I ask is that you give me a chance to give you, our ships and our world the best that we can truly give. The choice is yours."
Ronson was staring me down, most likely trying to see if I really had the resolve to produce what I promised while Caldwell turned to the Asgard and asked what everyone in the room was asking themselves. "Vizeer are these designs viable at all?" A small pause followed that question, I would be lying if I said I hadn't been holding my breath at that moment but mercifully the Asgard spoke.
"Yes Colonel they are, and they are quite impressive indeed I would have to go over them more thoroughly much like the hyperdrive design from earlier but I believe they are viable, I will also assist Doctor Felger in the construction of prototypes for both the weapons and the drive." Can an Asgard be giddy? I sure thought so, Caldwell turned to me, everyone else in the room was forgotten, more importantly so was old Felger.
"Doctor Felger when can we have prototypes for testing made?" I took a few seconds to think about my response, my mental processes now augmented by my now quantum computer of a brain
"Give me 12 days and I can have six turrets, a few dozen missiles and the new hyperdrive ready for trial runs, I just need the authorization for the resources, then we can install and calibrate them on the Prometheus, I also have some enhancements that can be applied to the shield generators and life support systems as well."
"You and Vizeer get started on the prototypes as well as any other enhancements you feel you can apply to the X-303 we'll get started on the authorizations you need." Ronson said as he and Caldwell left their seats and left in a hurry, the idea of advanced and effective weaponry on their ships dancing about in their minds and on Colonel Ronson's, a hyperdrive that might go a little faster then 50 light years before needing to drop out and cool down for a few hours would be a god send, Felger seemed different, but Vizeer said that everything the good doctor showed was on the level so they wouldn't argue with it, no use looking a gift horse in the mouth after all.
"Doctor Felger I shall await you in construction lab 3." I nodded in confirmation and the diminutive alien left the room eager to begin assisting in the construction of real weaponry for the Earthlings rather then assisting in constructing those primitive ones, he could not give Asgard weapons tech to the humans but assisting them in the construction of designs of their own making and giving advice? This thankfully was within his per view, he was curious about this Felger human, he did not seem this competent before, maybe he just needed some time to come up with good ideas, he was looking forward to seeing what else he could come up with.
I decided that it was best I get out of the room fast but before I could make it to the door I heard a rather pissed off voice from one Phillip Robinson. "FELGER!"
"Yes Doctor Robinson?" I responded coolly, knocking the angry doctor on the back foot.
"What the hell was that about?!"
"That my dear doctor was me, no longer getting in my own way, I suggest you don't either." more gasps and Doctor Robinson sputtering impotently, whatever rebuttal he had in him seemed to deflate at this new Felger he was now facing but I didn't care I walked out of there confidently as I made my way to lab 3 to begin what would be my new life.
Making my way into Lab 3 I saw Vizeer in the corner with an Asgard terminal I could also make out the platform where materials and items would appear after virtual construction, I made my presence known and continued my way over to the Asgard. "Doctor Felger, I have loaded your preliminary designs into the computer core of this terminal, where do you wish to begin refinement?"
Rocking my head from left to right and feeling the satisfying cracking of released tension I answered my new Asgard friend" Alright lets begin with the turret bed itself, once we have that down we can move onto the magnetic accelerator coils and plasma compression chamber."
So we began and as I had said 12 days had passed and we had six working plasma repeater turrets, two dozen of the new Talon missiles, twenty with naquadah/potassium warheads and four with mk 7 nuclear warheads as well and one working hyper drive generator. Thanks to Vizeer, he also helped steer me in the right direction to create a primitive phase generator for the missiles as well as enhancements for the new hyper drive, a technology his people are well known for, all of which I will be refining as we move forward but for right now I needed to over see the refit of Prometheus to get these weapons online, but before that Vizeer and I had to entertain guests.
Entering construction lab three were Colonels Steven Caldwell and William Ronson, Colonel Jonathan "Jack" O'neill (two LLs) and the blonde genius herself Major Samantha Carter. I was going to make a much better impression this time then what old Felger did with that bumbling character of his.
All three of them moved to the weapons sitting in the space where they were constructed, Major Carter's critical eye moving over all the items, special attention was given to the plasma cannons and the hyper drive.
"So Felger, I hear you actually came up with some pretty incredible things, and that an Asgard no less actually said would work, thought General Hammond was going to order me to pay a visit to the infirmary after I heard that one" quipped O'niell.
"Thought you were having a stroke again Colonel?" I quipped back, Carter's head whipped around so fast that I thought she'd have whiplash, and O'niell eyed me critically before he quipped his rebuttal
"Well can't really blame me can you, from what I hear your not exactly well known for your ideas panning out you know."
One of the things I loved about SG-1 was the relationship between Daniel Jackson and Jack O'neill, they were more like siblings sometimes and as an only child in my first life it was one of the things I always wanted most of all, Jack O'neill was always the big brother kind of guy that I would want as a sibling.
I shrug my shoulders and quip back "Can't blame you for having your doubts Colonel, but I ask that you don't doubt forever based on a few mistakes, mistakes are how we learn, not something to beat someone over the head with everyday of their life." That pulled O'niell up short, the Felger he knew was always bumbling over his words when stressed and had no confidence to speak of, he looked back at Colonels Caldwell and Ronson, he was starting to believe them both when they said that Felger was different, he just didn't think it was this much, he was brought out of his musing by Felgers voice.
"So Major Carter, do you have any questions about the new weapons I designed? Or maybe the hyper drive? I was about to get them transferred to the Prometheus launch bay to oversee the installation".
"I went over the designs already, and I have say I was pretty stunned that it was you that came up with them".
"Ouch" I chuckled back. "Oh ye of little faith, but that's fine we still have a lot of work to do, and a lot of changes to make". I could see the confused looks on all the Colonels faces as well as Major Carter's but she asked the question first before they other three could.
"Changes?" She asked, "what changes would those be?"
I was waiting for this moment, if I could get Major Samantha Carter AND Colonel Jack O'neill to sign off on my ideas the red tape would almost effectively be removed from my way and I could really make some huge headway in enhancing Earth.
"Well it only took about a week for Vizeer and I to build these prototypes and calibrate them, so after that I had another 5 days to ourselves, so I decided to look into a couple of things that were bothering me, the first was in fact something that you should have caught Major, and I was surprised that you hadn't".
I couldn't help but tweak her nose a little, of course Carter's scandalized look was playing havoc on my self control, laughing my ass off would not have been the best idea, especially when I spied O'neill giving me the stink eye.
"And just WHAT did I miss Doctor Felger?" Oh dear she seems a bit irked especially with the heavy emphasis on my title and name, I thought it better to simply show her before she burst a blood vessel. I walked over to one of the counters where something lay under a sheet, after lifting said sheet I gestured to the device sitting there, Carter walked over and inspected it, recognition in her eyes as well as a bit of confusion.
"This is the power generator Colonel O'neill built when he was under the influence of the ancient database", I couldn't help add wistfully "Good times", of course O'neill decided to then say the exact same thing exactly at the same time I did and we did a little double take, I decided to continue with the little presentation before anyone could ask any questions about my comment.
"This little generator was able to make a stable connection with Earths Stargate and one in the Asgard's home galaxy of Ida for nearly three full minutes using only a small liquid Naquadah fuel source, THAT should be far and away impossible. The amount of power necessary for that kind of connection far out ways the power a liquid Naquadah fuel cell could ever provide on its own, especially when you factor in the distances involved, Ida isn't exactly next door you know, there's nearly 22 million light years between us."
"But that's exactly what it did." Carter pointed out, she went on "If its supposed to be impossible then how did it do it? I theorized that the device created a controlled overload of the fuel cell that the it rode until the fuel cell was depleted-
"Which still wouldn't account for anywhere near what was needed for an extra galactic wormhole" I jumped in adding
"Then how?" Sam said.
"How indeed" was the response she received but not from me but from the quiet Asgard Vizeer everyone had turned to him now waiting for the explanation, but it was me who supplied it.
"Energetic Amplification" Carter turned back to me quickly as I continued "On the subatomic level. You see this device does do what you theorized it did, it creates a controlled overload of the fuel cell but that was only the first stage of the process, it took that energy and ran it through an matrix field which amplified the subatomic resonance of the energy that the Naquadah put out, once that occurred the energy would then multiply exponentially and before you know it you have more then enough energy to dial another galaxy".
I was pretty excited at this point although I remained as professional as possible though it was tough, the potential of this discovery had yet to sink into the military personnel currently in the room all except one who's eyes were widening further and further.
O'neill really hated techno babble so he decided to get a more direct answer. "So for those of us without doctorates?" Ah I needed a simpler way of describing this little miracle that ironically he built so I thought for a second, Ah! this little gem from anther Sci fi show I loved would work just as well for this situation!
"Alright Colonel how about this. So imagine your walking down the sidewalk and you see a penny, you pick it up it doubles then it doubles again and again and again, round and round and round it goes where it stops nobody knows but before you know it you have a million dollars and the IRS all. Over. Your. Ass. This thing – I point to the device- takes that penny you picked up and doubles it thousands of times, and fast, faster then you could blink, once the process starts it remains constant and ongoing".
O'neill was now grasping what they now had in there possession, a generator that kicked out way more then the fuel you put in should be capable of pushing out and in such a small package as well, would make Carter's Naquadah generator look like a D size battery while this was a nuclear power station!
Colonel Ronson spoke up now, he had just come here to see if the good doctor could actually put his money where his mouth was but now it seems that hes just up ended the status quo again.
"So what exactly does this mean for us doctor?"
"What this means Colonel – I walked over to a computer nearby to show them a bar chart I had created earlier- if we use the Prometheus as an example? - they could see a bar indicating the max power level of the Prometheus' power core- that with a properly designed power core using a reverse engineered version of this technology and a 50kg ball of refined Naquadah as a fuel source, we can generate 20 to 30 times the power your ship's current power core produces, and all in the size of something that resembles a standard 2 door refrigerator." I finish by putting another bar next to the first showing the increased power levels that could be achieved by the Prometheus.
"Sirs" Carter said getting the attention of the superior officers in the room, her face as serious as they had ever seen before, "if Doctor Felger is right-
"He is" supplied Vizeer.
"Then this new power core design far and away outstrips the Naquadria design we are currently using, not only is it a better option but one we can use far more safely then the unstable Naquadria core we have been trying to work with, this could be a massive game changer for us and I cannot emphasize this enough sirs".
Colonel Ronson, looked toward his counterparts before asking. "Doctor, when could this power core be built and installed on the Prometheus?"
"Well", I began as I walked over to another sheet covering something about 2 meters tall, pulling it off I continued, "Just say the word Colonel and I can install it when I fit the new weapons and hyper drive on Prometheus", their surprise was evident upon their faces "if you're willing then I'm able, but I must warn you now, the Prometheus is an..odd duck, her design is inefficient to say the least, we will have to enhance the power conduits and power transfer leads so we don't overload everything, as well as enhance the shield generators to be able to handle the increased power without burning out, shouldn't take more then a week more then what it would've taken to install just the weapons and the hyper drive but it would be very much worth it".
Colonel Caldwell had remained tight lipped since coming into the lab with everyone else but after hearing about all of these new fantastic technologies that Doctor Felger had developed he couldn't help speaking up any longer. "Doctor, can these elements be added to the 304s design?"
'And so it begins' I thought channeling my inner Kosh from Babylon 5 fame.
"Yes sir it can, but I would have to get into the design of the 304 and make sure that everything is added from the ground up as efficiently as possible, as well as leave room for any more advancements I may come up with in the future, would that be alright with you sir?"
Caldwell didn't even hesitate after seeing what could be added to his future ship and Earth's future fleet, he was doing back flips in his head. "You have my full permission Doctor, I'll speak with the design team and they will be ready for you to take over when you are done with the Prometheus."
Holy shit I didn't think he'd put me in charge of the whole thing! Fuck it, winds blowing my way, who am I to piss against it? "Yes sir, should be about 2 or 3 weeks after we test the Prometheus in some combat simulations with the new equipment".
"That's fine Doctor" Caldwell replied. After that everyone left except Major Carter and Colonel Ronson, both assisted in supervising the refit of Prometheus and before we knew it the ship was soon ready.
Eight days later, after having installed all the new equipment as well as enhancing all the power conduits and giving the tactical station a bit of an overhaul, the ship was finally ready for her shakedown cruise.
Walking through the corridors on my way the the bridge, I couldn't help but feel giddy, I mean look at where I was, on board a space ship about to head off into actual space! One of my dreams was about to come true. Going into space was always up there on my bucket list, it will probably be old hat in a few days but until then I will enjoy the childlike wonder of it all, I came back to myself just in time to walk onto the bridge, and the next phase of operation "Earth Badass" was about to begin.
