Chapter 10: Landing
"Lovi!~" Feliciano called for him, and Lovino stopped his current task of looking for his other black sock to pair. He frowned and stalked into the room to see his brother sitting on top of his suitcase on his bed.
"Could you help me? Just zip it up, I got it pressed down." Feli pressed his hands down for emphasis.
"Why don't you ask your damn boyfriend? He lifts trucks for breakfast no doubt."
"It's not gonna be hard to zip up, I promise!"
Lovino rolled his eyes and gripped the little metal zipper. He gave it a few good tugs before he was able to move it some. Then with another tug it zipped all the way around.
Feliciano grinned, "See?"
Lovino waved him off and resumed packing. Mostly, he just stuffed whatever clothes he could fit that looked nice on him, of course. They'd probably last him the week they were staying. He stuffed in a hat and an umbrella because Arthur told him that it would most definitely rain at some point.
Lovino didn't ask Arthur about Kiku. The man was coming over soon to drop off the androids. They were going to be responsible for making sure they got there safely. Kiku made them promise not to say anything to Ludwig, having held Frliciano's lips shut as he said it.
Feli for once got the message.
The buzzer rang, and Feli trotted over to the intercom to let Kiku in, downstairs.
Lovino bit his lip, unsure if he'd mention anything. They had an elevator so it wouldn't be much trouble to bring them up, no words needed to be said. Soon enough there was a light knock on the door.
Feliciano opened the door to Kiku with what seemed to be two plastic bins on a dolly. Lovino had sat himself on the couch.
"Kiku!" Feli wrapped his arms around said man, who in turn gave Feli a pat on the back.
Kiku gave Lovino a nod in acknowledgement which Lovino responded in turn.
"Please be careful with them."
"Of course Kiku! You can trust us. We won't damage your little robots." Feli gave him a salute with his left hand.
"They are both human sized, not exactly small."
Feli put his hands on the now fidgeting man's shoulders, "Relax! I know this is important to you, so I won't allow anything bad to happen to them, alright?"
Kiku nodded.
"So you got a map or something of the building? You know so we can know where to go?" Lovino spoke up then.
Kiku pulled out his phone. "I would have to send you a few maps, more specifically floor plans. The building has a couple of floors. We'll be on the second floor. What is your email?"
Lovino motioned for the phone and typed in his email. Kiku said he couldn't stay for long as he was still getting everything together for the business trip and his pitch for these robots.
As soon as Feliciano shut the door he wanted to open them.
"Come on! Just a peak?"
"No."
"Please?"
They settled on taking out the woman Iggy Android. She had her hair in pigtails. Feli seemed to be pleased with her outfit. A dark forest green sweater over a white-collared button up and a pleated brown plaid skirt. She wore thigh high black socks and black front-zip boots with a platform heel.
It made the android just as tall as himself.
"Don't do anything weird, Feli!"
"What? I'm not!" Feli said, reaching out a hand to delicately touch the android's face. He turned back to Lovino, "She's so cold, and metallic."
"Duh! It's a machine! Of course it would be that way!" Lovino gave him a good smack on the arm.
"Or it's because we didn't plug it up and turn it on!"
"You don't even know where the plug is."
Feli trotted over to the bin the android came in and pulled out a flat square platform with a cord attached. He grinned before plugging it into an open outlet.
"Bring her over!" Feli was all giddy, and practically shaking with excitement.
"It. It's a machine, not a person." Lovino wrapped his arms around the android's waist and lifted it up. It was quite heavy, but with a grunt he was able to carry it over to the platform.
Immediately the android's eyes glowed. "Battery is at 2%." The android said.
"She sounds the same as in the app!" Feli squealed, meaning that it sounded like a generic female robot with a bit of a British accent. But sure, whatever, it's a work of art.
And then suddenly their lights flickered briefly before leaving them completely in the dark.
"Fuck! I told you we shouldn't have messed with it!"
"How are we supposed to charge it then!?"
"That's not our fucking problem. Unplug the damn thing. I'm gonna go to our breaker box."
Lovino pulled out his phone and turned on the flashlight. The breaker box was in their closet. After shoving some clothes around, he opened the box, pushed up the breaker to control the apartment back up, and flooded the apartment with light again.
Feli stuffed the android back in the bin with the charging platform. He closed the lid with a sad pout.
000000
Lovino and Feliciano were stuck in coach while Ludwig, Kiku, Hedervary, and some other guy who smoked cigars, were in first class.
It made sense because they didn't fucking work there, but it didn't mean Lovino wasn't pissed about it. They were in a separate hotel than them as well, but on the bright side he wouldn't be seeing much of Ludwig's face, screw him.
On the flight Lovino decided to watch a few movies to pass the time. Feli was watching The Great British Bake Off and cursing in Italian under his breath, which got him a confused stare from the elderly woman next to him.
"Deficiente." He caught a milder insult.
After watching three movies, going to the bathroom twice, eating some random chicken "TV dinner", and falling asleep in the middle of watching The Godfather, they were now in London.
Lovino felt like shit because he only had like 2 hours of sleep but it was 8am in the UK right now compared to 3am at home. Feli wasn't fairing much better either.
So first things first, they went to a restaurant, because they couldn't check into their hotel until 12. They received a few looks for the bins as well as their luggage but otherwise no one said a word.
Feli said he was going to get something called a full English breakfast.
Lovino took out his phone really quickly to ask Arthur what he would recommend. He'd asked him about where to get some food and the little bot had suggested this place. After of course, remarking that he wasn't "fucking Siri."
A: You can't pick something yourself? Are you a toddler?
L: What if I pick something that tastes like garbage?
A: Bloody fucking hell, I'm only going to do this because you're tired and jet lagged.
A: Try beans on toast and tea to go with it.
That sounded fucking gross, but Lovino was in an unfamiliar place so he was going to trust this bastard.
L: Ok but if it's gross, you're not gonna hear the end of it.
When the waiter returned they told them their orders. Feli grinned and quirked his brow, "You tell your little friend you're going to see him soon?"
Lovino frowned, "I did, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet."
Arthur had given him his parents' home number, and he called them the other day but it went straight to voicemail. He left a message about how they'd met when he was abroad a decade ago and his number to call back. A stretch, but he couldn't think of anything else. He was still going to show up at their house though just to prove Arthur wrong.
"Hmm, maybe he's nervous. You gotta buy something to surprise him with!" Feli responded, stirring his coffee, the waiter had just set it down. Lovino was presented with his tea.
Lovino pressed his lips in a hard line, it wasn't a bad idea. His mother always said if you're showing up somewhere unannounced always bring something, and then they can't kick you out.
Arthur's mother has a garden, I'll get some gardening stuff, they'll love that shit.
Lovino smirked as he sipped his tea.
They were going out to tour later on today with Antonio's brother. He didn't know what the man looked like, but Antonio told him they were coming so he'd probably find them.
Feli wrinkled his nose when Lovino's plate was put down in front of him, and Lovino wrinkled his nose too. What the fuck?
At least Feli had bacon, sausages and eggs with his beans. Lovino promptly stole a slice of bacon and a sausage from his plate, Feli let out a little huff in response and pouted like a little bambino.
Lovino was fucking tired and knew he'd need the energy so he ate the beans on toast even though it wasn't appealing in presentation, at all. It was average at best, he wouldn't call it terrible. Feli just munched on the tomatoes.
"Mangiare!" He yelled at Feli. He knows Feli will be hungry later and he doesn't want him to bitch and complain on the tour.
Reluctantly Feli started eating his eggs too. The tea was good and perked him up just as well as coffee would have.
Lovino almost wanted to kiss the waiter upon him telling them they didn't do tips here. It wasn't like they had any extra money anyway, well Ludwig probably gave Feli some, but still.
Lovino typed in their hotel address into his navigation app and groaned at how far of a distance it was. The cab would cost them quite a bit. So they were forced on public transit.
The seats were comfortable enough that Lovino's eyes were heavy and he could barely keep them open. They were way softer than the ones back home. And so he dozed off.
"L-Lovi." Lovino heard, and there was a jab to his arm. Lovino snapped his eyes open to see their car was completely empty except for himself, Feli, and the train operator, staring down at him.
"It's the end of the line. You got to get off." The woman said in some heavy British accent he wasn't familiar with.
Lovino was glad to see their luggage and bins were left untouched, maybe someone thought they were homeless.
And so Lovino and Feli were in an unfamiliar part of town and his fucking phone was dead.
"Feli! Call your damn boyfriend to come pick us up!"
"My phone is dead!"
"Fuck! Didn't you charge it on the plane?"
"The holes were different on the charginging block thing! You know? I was gonna ask Luddy for an extra when we got back to the hotel."
"Fuck!" Lovino started pacing back and forth and pulling his hair. He didn't even know they had different fucking outlets here.
"Wait! Wait!" Feli slapped the bins, "I charged up the androids! They gotta have a C charging port right?"
"When did you do that?"
"When you went to sleep, I cut all the power except for the outlets in the living room and charged them up," Setting aside the risk of their food being spoiled from cutting off the refrigerator for a few hours, Lovino gripped Feli's arms.
"For once you used that pea sized brain of yours!"
The bin on top was the woman Iggy Android. They got the android out and stood it up.
"Where do you think the port would be?"
Feli shrugged in response, and so they'd have to do the most awkward thing and check everywhere, in public. Lovino felt a few stares as people walked past on the platform.
Feli squatted down immediately, checking the android's sock covered calves. Lovino rolled his eyes, gripping the hem of its sweater and button-up to check the android's back.
For sure he thought there'd be a metal plate and some screws like a robotic doll, but there was nothing. Lovino realized that the android was wearing a wig just as Feli was trying to look under the android's skirt.
"Stop being a fucking pervert and get up!" Feli stumbled back onto his butt from being startled.
Lovino took off the android's wig.
"Now she's bald!" Feli giggled. But the panel Lovino was looking for was right in the back of her head.
Feli went over to his suitcase to grab his cord, and Lovino used a penny to unscrew the four screws to cover the android's control panel.
And there along with a few other holes was the C charging port. Feli plugged in his phone and a few minutes later used his whiny baby voice to sound pathetic so Ludwig had no choice but to come get them. Feli winked and gave him a thumbs up when he got off the phone.
Lovino was able to charge up his phone a little in Ludwig's renter car while Ludwig lectured them both about how dangerous what they did was but Lovino wasn't really listening.
L: Would your mom like a three pack set of gardening tools?
He watched as three dots danced in the corner of his screen as they rode over some uneven patch of road.
A: What? Is that some kind of code for you need help?
L: No? If I'm going to your house, I wanna bring your mom a gift. You think she'd like that?
A: I was worried you got kidnapped or something! It doesn't take that long to get from the restaurant to your hotel!
L: Oh! Yeah forgot to say we fell asleep on the train ride and rode all the way on the other side of the city! And both of our phones died. Crazy shit.
A:You're one lucky bastard.
L: Right? Someone could've stolen the androids or our clothes! But they didn't!
L: You were worried about me?
A: If you were dead then how else would you be able to investigate where they're keeping me?
A: Idiot!
That was true but it didn't mean he couldn't tease him just a little bit. How strange that the little bot seemed to care about him.
L: Well I'm in Ludwig's car now, safe and sound. So no more worrying for you.
A: Fuck off. You're only useful as a meat puppet.
L: Again, are you sure you're a real person? Because that's just what a robot would say.
To which Arthur sent him a few emojis to flip him off.

Antonio's brother looked just like him, except he had a small beauty mark just under his right eye. Also his hair was longer than Antonio's, being put into a ponytail. The man had arrived at their hotel to take them on a tour of a few iconic London locations.
Feli gave Lovino a nudge, and his eyebrows raised as though to tell him to "go for it." Trying to date someone that was a splitting image of Antonio felt wrong and he didn't just like Antonio for his looks although they did help…he wasn't superficial like Feli was.
It's clearly muscles and big boobs for him. Seriously, he's caught Feli ogling Ludwig's bare chest more times than he liked. And he hated it because it brought his attention to it too! The last thing he wanted to do was look at Ludwig's chest of all things.
Fuck! Now I'm thinking about that potato eating bastard shirtless!
"My name is João, You're friends of my brother Toniho?"
"Yep! My name's Feliciano! But you can call me Feli for short!" Feli said, holding out his hand to give the man a shake.
He in turn grasped it.
Feli slung an arm around Lovino's neck,"And this here is mi fratello, Lovino! He's really close with Antonio!"
"You must be the infamous Lovi, Toniho talks so much about you."
Lovino blinked as he met João's green eyed gaze. Me?
"But he's never mentioned you."
"We don't talk much, he's still sore about me moving here." João shrugged, "Or he's scared I'll take you from him."
Lovino felt his cheeks warm briefly.
"Like a tomato. He was telling the truth!" João chuckled.
Feli winked at him when João turned his back to them. João opened up the passenger door to his car, Feli nudged him into the passenger seat while he slid in the back.
Feli filled up the span of the ride telling João all about how they met Antonio, which of course led to the inevitable tangent of his "darling" boyfriend Ludwig. João didn't comment much, just giving Feli little encouraging "hmmms" to show he was listening. But honestly Lovino could tell Feli bored him which was a first. No matter what Feli usually was the center of attention, his energy was magnetic and it forced you to pay attention. Except Lovino of course, he's good at ignoring Feli, a skill and a curse if there ever was one.
João took them to Buckingham Palace first. Feli was being annoying and trying to wiggle in between the bars to see the King. Lovino decided to keep his eyes peeled for any sign of someone who looked like Arthur around here.
"Looking for someone?" João said, having walked over to where he was by the fountain.
"It's not important, just thought I might catch a friend."
Joāo gave him a grin, "I might know them if they live around here."
"They don't."
"Try me, anyway." Lovino didn't like the look in the man's eyes. Sure he and Antonio practically shared a face, but there was something sinister behind his eyes and easygoing smile that Antonio just didn't have.
But he did live here, so maybe he knows someone who knows Arthur's family. He looked around Real Arthur's age too, now that he was paying attention.
"You know an old couple that lives in the countryside named uh…the Kirklands?"
There was a flicker of something deeply unsettled in his gaze.
"I used to, but I've lost contact with them a while ago…ever since the whole–" João furrowed his eyebrows, "How do you know them?"
"U-uh I've chatted with one of their sons online..and I wanted to surprise him… he's visiting his parents this week."
João stared at him, and he looked like he wanted to ask more questions but decided not to. "I'm sorry that I couldn't be more help."
Fuck he probably thinks I'm a fucking stalker!
There was this weird air after that, Feli being completely oblivious as usual didn't pick up on how restless and unsettled João seemed because of him now. They went to Windsor Castle, and he took a few pictures, but João was always keeping an eye on him.
Moments in the car were quiet, if not filled with Feli asking questions about Stonehenge when they were on their way there. He took pictures along with everyone else in line cluster around the large stone structures. He'd skipped tutorials and skimmed through the signs giving historical information.
Even still he kept his eyes peeled for any sign of the blonde assuming he hadn't dyed his hair again. But no such luck.
They'd stopped for dinner at this place that sold fried pizza, Feli almost fainted, and they'd both gotten Shepherd's pie. João did ask them for money for gas, Feli happily paid him some money he'd gotten out of the ATM.
And soon the day was over.
00000000
"You must really like this British friend of yours." Feli said as he laid on the queen sized bed that was on his side of the room, swinging his legs.
Lovino rolled his eyes.
"Antonio's brother was really attractive and you didn't even try talking to him!"
"He thinks I'm a deranged stalker."
"No! He thinks you're cute, but you totally ignored him!"
"Will you leave me alone? Go suck face with Ludwig! He called you over didn't he?"
Feli gave him a grin, "Si! But I'm serious about João, you've got his number," Feli wiggled his eyebrows.
Lovino flopped onto his queen sized bed on the other side, and laid on his back, staring at the ceiling. Lovino felt a soft dip in his bed as Feli had tossed over the remote to the TV in their room.
Then he heard soft thumps as Feli made his way to the door, "Have fun!~" to which he heard a soft click as the door was closed.
Lovino looked over at the remote before letting out a groan. He sat up, clicking on the TV before flipping through a few channels and seeing nothing interesting on. It was too late to call anyone from back home, not that he had much options anyway; Antonio would probably like a 3am call from him, but he also didn't want to call, and he was doing fuck knows with Francis. Antonio would pick up definitely, he didn't give a flying fuck if Francis was 'trying to set the mood's he's got time to talk.
Lovino dug out his phone from his pocket and called Arthur before throwing the phone back onto his bed.
"You can spare me the details of your tour. I've seen everything, but at the very least were you impressed?"
"It was fine or whatever."
"That's it? Weren't you agonizing over this stupid trip for months?"
"Did you forget why I'm here?"
"Ah yes your delusions, that you'll somehow find me on the street and we'll bump into eachother like it's a fucking RomCom or something."
"I'm still going to your parent's house, but I would have liked to save the trouble of awkward introductions."
"You're going through an awful lot of trouble to chase an idea."
"I am, so you better be one hell of a guy!"
And then Lovino heard him sigh, quite sadly actually. He'd thought they were joking around and that Arthur was going to proclaim he was.
"Can't say that I am if I have to have someone who's never met me, bust me out of an incubator."
"Hey now! Maybe they don't know! They think you're fine, don't get all down on me. We're gonna find this shit out, ok?"
"Lovino why are you doing all of this for me? I know I've been…difficult…a-and I haven't made it easy for you. I-If I were you I would've deleted me a long time ago."
"Did you hit your head or something? What's with all this now huh? You want me to find you and now you don't…make up your mind."
"It's not that! J-just why did it have to be you? No one in my life cared enough to check up on me? How long did you say it's been? T-ten fucking years?" His voice was brittle, Lovino could hear it.
"Come on now, I keep telling you. They know you're alright! You'll see!" Lovino could tell his voice was too high pitched.
Lovino was trying his best. He didn't know Arthur's relationship with his parents but he had to be hopeful they wouldn't just abandon him when he was struggling. But Arthur seemed like the type not to tell his parents if he was struggling anyway.
"What is it about me though? I don't get it! I've been rude and terrible to you the whole time! In what way would I be a suitable companion?"
"I don't know, ask Kiku, he made you into a bot and an android. He saw something, or maybe he saw garbage. Who knows?" Lovino shrugged, this wasn't the time for complicated feelings.
"Now you're just avoiding the question."
"But seriously, would your mom want a gardening tool set or no?"
Lovino heard another sigh but it sounded a bit like a laugh, "You're going to bribe my mum with gardening tools?"
"Everyone loves free stuff, so si." Lovino nodded although Arthur couldn't see him.
"You really are something else. I'm sure my mum would appreciate you doing so, but would still call the police because you're a bloody trespasser."
Lovino would take what he could get. It was late and Lovino decided to shrug out of his clothes and get ready for bed.
"You're in for the night? No late night pub crawls?
"It's been a long day, and bars aren't really my thing." Lovino said, placing his phone on the nightstand, "You know that."
"I know, but I still have hope you'll go out and get absolutely smashed one day."
"Eh I'm pretty sure the other you would take me on a bar crawl, not very romantic, but it seems like your style."
"That's not true at all! I'd be very much in your debt, and therefore obligated to take you out on a dinner date to a fancy restaurant."
"Ah yes what every man wants, to be an obligation and a liability. So romantic." Lovino said, snuggling up under his covers.
"What would you know about romance anyhow?"
"Sadly Feli and his potato eating boyfriend are the picture of perfect romance, 24/7 it's exhausting. But I guess that bastard has to be because Feli's high maintenance."
"Didn't you say you were going to sleep?"
"I am, but you keep talking."
"Well rest up then, you've got a lot of shite going on tomorrow."
"Don't remind me." Lovino groaned, the business meeting was tomorrow, where he'd snoop around and see if he could get some answers without anyone noticing.
Fuck, I'm not ready to be a fucking spy.
Lovino pushed the "end call" button and tried to get some sleep.
A/N: They're finally in London.
