Chapter 43: To the Fangs!
Natsu, Juvia and Happy, along with their clients, were walking through the guild hall, and within the walls, even though it almost looked like any regular guild, the members weren't in good shape.
Most of them were bandaged, showing that they had been fighting, they have been seemingly overpowered.
"This is horrible. What happened to them?" Juvia said. "Previous battles. Our members stood almost no chance to fight them." Deshawn explained.
"Our Mages were fighting previously from our recent battle. But after that, most of our forces were taken down. It was then at the decision, we decided it was wise to call for help." Ethan said, before they went up the stairs, towards where his office was.
Once they were in front of the doors of the office, Ethan stopped, and then turned to his son Jake.
"Jake, I need to you wait here, while me, Deshawn and our visitors are talking business here." Ethan said. "But I want to be in help too!" Jake said. "Son, I know you want to help our guild, but you saw yourself what happened earlier on. Our enemies have become stronger than they had before." Ethan said.
"Dad, you know that I am strong!" Jake said. "Yes, I know. But they are at different level. There are limits of what great men can do." Ethan said. Jake was about to argue, but even he knew things could become worse if he continued.
He let out a stubborn sigh, as then Ethan had a small smile on his face. He then placed his hand on Ethan´s head. "There, there. When you are older, you will be able to understand situations like these." Ethan said, patting him.
"Whatever." Jake said, before then he sat down on a chair near the office, and then Ethan then went to speak with the trio of Fairy Tail Mages.
"Apologies for that. Jake is still learning. But eventually with time, I know that he will become a great Mage of Crescent Fox one day." Ethan said. "No worries. But shall we move onto what you wanted to talk about?" Natsu said. "Of course. Come on in." Ethan said, as they group then walked inside of Ethan´s office.
The office of the Guild Master of Crescent Fox, seemed to be quite a large room, with a red carpet on the floor, a pair of large windows at the end, a silver chandelier on the roof, bookshelves on the wall, an dark oak office table with a stack of papers, a lamp as well a pen. Behind the office desk were a large chair, and there were three smaller chairs in front of it as well.
"Sit down, and we shall begin." Ethan said. Natsu, Juvia and Deshawn sat down in front of the desk, while Happy sat on Natsu´s lap, and so did Ethan as well on his large chair.
"On to business. As you may know, our Guild, Crescent Fox, have been in a Guild War with Bakunawa Fang, for some time ago. For four months, we had been fighting them." Ethan said.
"What happened when it first began?" Juvia asked. "It was usual day for us in Jasmine Town. We didn't think something unusual would happen, and it did. As suddenly, the Dark Guild Bakunawa Fang came and assaulted us. We managed of course to fend off for ourselves, and we even though they would never return after that. We were wrong." Deshawn explained.
"Soon after, they were attacking us, and it wasn't the last one. Afterwards, time after time, they continued their assaults, leaving us no chance for us to predict their moments." Ethan said.
"They have been attacking us at random times, giving us no chance to predict of their next move." Deshawn said. "Sometimes, they attack the next day, other time, they attack after weeks." Ethan said.
"But had all the attacks something in common?" Natsu asked. "Well, to be exact, every attack was seemingly focused straight to our guild hall." Ethan said.
"But why didn't you simply call the Magic Council?" Natsu asked. "We did after a time of attacks, but the Council had bigger problems than us, which we then tried to take down ourselves." Ethan said.
"We didn't know where their Guild Base was, but after some time, while they didn't attack us, we eventually found their guild hall, which is north-west of our town. We had decided to attack one final time, to take them down once and for all. But we were wrong." Ethan said, as his tone went down to a more serious tone.
"When we attacked them, they were different. Way different than before, as if during the time they didn't attack, they were powering up." Deshawn said. "It couldn't have been regular training, cause it was impossible they could have gotten that strong in such a short time." Ethan said.
"Whatever it was, it wasn't normal. Most of our troops, were taken down, grievously injured, and we were forced to retreat. We headed back to our glad, of pure luck as Bakunawa Fang didn't follow us to our guild." Deshawn said, looking down on the floor with shame, his fists shaking.
"It was then, due to our own overconfidence, we decided that to call help." Ethan said. "We didn't care if we couldn't pay, as long it's for the sake of our guild, family, friends and town, we will do anything to make that happen." Ethan said.
"My older son, Jacob, and Jake´s older brother was harmed as well. Jake is determined to fight like his brother did, but even with his bravery, it won't be enough!" Ethan said, before then slamming his fist on the table.
"Fairy Tail! We want your help to take down Bakunawa Fang at any cost! Please make sure to accept this!" Ethan said.
"Do not worry." Natsu said, his eyes were shadowed. As he said his words, Ethan looked at Natsu, Juvia and Happy, determination in their faces.
"Because Fairy Tail will help, and will make sure Bakunawa Fang will have a lesson they will never forget! It´s time to Taste the Dark!" Natsu said, cracking his knuckles.
Ethan and Deshawn were smiling, as a ray of hope had come to their aid.
At the same time, Jake were at one of the beds, which were housing the injured. In front of him, were his older brother Jacob, were on. He was bandaged, head to toe, as parts of his blonde hair were sticking through the bandages of his head.
Jake held his fists tights, filled with the regret of not being able to be there for his older brother, last time they went at Bakunawa Fang.
A Couple of weeks earlier...
"Jacob!" Jake said, as he came rushing towards his brother, who were leading the Guild members of Crescent Fox into battle.
"Jake?" Jacob said. He was a tall, young man with blond, thick hair, green eyes and a small goatee on his face. He wore a pair of white pants, dark red boots, a pair of black, fingerless gloves and a pair of orange googles on his forehead.
"Please, let me come to this mission!" Jake said. Jacob sighed, but had a smile on his face, before then kneeling down to his younger brother.
"Jake, you do know that we usually do missions together?" Jacob said. "Yes, which is why I want to go with you." Jake said. "Jake, those missions we go on, are about hunting monsters or taking down dark mages. We are doing them together for two reasons: one, because you can't do missions on your own, as you are still too young. And two, is that have you learn, in order for you to grow." Jacob said, as then Jake looked down on the ground, with a stubborn face.
"This is different from the other missions we done together. But soon enough, you will go on missions like these. Eventually, you will go on them for yourself, but also with others, without me." Jacob said,as he patted Jake's head and went straight up.
"Jake, one day, you will understand what it means to be a mage, be it with situations you expect or not expect." Jacob said, before then going towards the group of Crescent Fox Mages.
"Don't worry, we will return safely. I have been in battles far worse than these." Jacob said, as he then, along with the rest of the group, walked straight to where the Base of the Bakunawa Fang Guild were.
"Jacob..." Jake said, as he wanted to go with them, but were held back by Ethan. "Do not worry son. He will make a safe return. I know he will." Ethan said, as he, Jake and Deshawn were watching Jacob and his group went onto battle.
They fought they would win, and return safely, but they were wrong.
At the end of the day, the group were returning, as all of them, were heavily damages, covering in serious wounds, bleeding in an incredible amount, and some of them were conscious.
In horror, Ethan, Deshan, Jake and the remaining members of Crescent Fox, ran towards their injured, asking what had happened and tending their wounds.
"What happened? What is going on?!" A horrified Deshawn said. "Where is Jacob?!" Shouted Ethan, looking after his older son.
A Crescent Fox Mage, with brown hair and green eyes, looking in shame as he carried Jacob, who were unconcious and had the worst injuries of them all.
Silent in horror, Ethan and Deshawn went towards to carry him. "Me and Deshawn will carry him." Ethan said, as they carried Jacob over each of their shoulders.
"Quickly, they all need to be tended! Take them to our guild´s infirmary, and if we don't have place for them there, have then be placed across the guild hall!" Ethan ordered. "Hurry up, we don't have time!" Deshawn, as he and the rest of the Guild Members helped their injured, before then Ethan went to face his son.
"Jake, you need to help as well. This will be something we all need to attend to do." Ethan said. Jake were silent as he took in what had happened, before then shaking his head and then know what he had to do. "Yeah, I will help." Jake said, before he went to the injured ones to help them.
At the present...
Jake could only watch in regret as he looked at his bandaged and unconscious brother. "Jacob, I wish I could have been there. I was told by to stay here, but why did it have to lead to this? You had never wrong before. You are my brother." Jake thought, his fists shaking.
"I was too weak to follow you, but if I were stronger, I could be there to help you." Jake thought. Before then, he saw then Natsu, Juvia and Happy, who were walking by his dad Ethan and Deshawn.
"You're telling me that you don't know when Bakunawa Fang will strike next?" Natsu said. "Yes, ever since our last attempt, we haven't even heard a word from them, as we took the time hoping we could have healed our members before their next attack." Ethan said.
"Dad!" Jake said, running towards Ethan, Deshawn, Natsu, Juvia and Happy. "Dad, I can take them down, this time I mean it." Jake said. Ethan sighed, while Deshawn grunted.
"Jake, I know you are mad because they took down our members, even Jacob, but you must understand they are on a different level than before." Ethan said.
"I know, which is alone I won't be able to take them down. But with Fairy Tail, who came to aid us, I can make sure to take at least one of them down." Jake said.
"Master Ethan, they took down Jacob, the Ace of our Guild, the strongest of our S-class Mages. The other S-classes were taken down as well. There is no way Jake would even be taken down." Deshawn argued.
Ethan were silent. He didn't want his son to be injured. But Jake wasn't an ordinary, as he was able to take some mages, but he was not that strong. Ethan then looked at Natsu, then Juvia and lastly Happy, who were all from Fairy Tail, the strongest Guild of the Country. Recently, they have been taking Oracion Seis.
He didn't wanted to be overconfidence, but he had trust in Fairy Tail, as of now, it was the best help he and his Guild, Crescent Fox, had right now. If they couldn't help them, then who would.
"I have decided. Jake, you are to follow Fairy Tail on their battle on taking down the Bakunawa Fang Guild." Ethan said, much to the shock of Jake and Ethan!
"What?" A confused Jake said. "What?! Are you insane Ethan?!" Deshawn said. "I know what I am doing, Deshawn. Jake won't be alone, Fairy Tail will fight alongside and protect him." Ethan said with a serious tone and eyes.
"But he's just a kid." Deshawn said. "I know that, but we have heard that even those younger than Jake were able to perform acts in battles far greater than the one we are having right now." Ethan said.
"Fairy Tail, I know you are the #1 Guild of Fiore right now. I trust you with this task: stop Bakunawa Fang, and make sure to both protect my son, and have Jake sure they make them pay." Ethan said.
Natsu grinned, before he then gave a thumbs up. "Don't worry. Fairy Tail keeps its promise. Right, Jake?" Natsu said with a grin.
Jake were silent for a bit, but then smiled, giving a thumb up as well.
"Yeah, promise. Dad I will not let you down, or the Crescent Fox Guild." Jake said.
Ethan smiled, while Deshawn sighed but gave off a small smile too.
"Alright then, but then let's keep moving." Natsu announced. "But where is the Bakunawa Guild at again?" Juvia asked.
"Well, they are set at east of here. Their base is currently on an island, far from here, which used to belong to a wealthy landlord who lived at our town 100 years ago. You can take a boat towards there, it will be the fastest there." Ethan said, as then Natsu shivered at the word `boat´.
"Are we gonna take a boat to their base?" Natsu said, horror in his voice. Juvia, as she knew that Natsu´s weakness were vehicles, and boats were no exception to them, she went to her lover´s rescue.
"Don't worry, Natsu-sama, Juvia will make sure to you won't suffer from any boats!" Juvia said. "Really?!" Natsu said, wide eyes and sparkling eyes.
"Oi." Happy said, sweat dropping. "You sure? It's pretty far from here." Deshawn said. "Don't worry, you haven't seen what we are able to do." Natsu said. "But let´s move on. The longer we stay here, the longer it will take for us to kick their asses." Natsu said.
Seeing no reason to argue, the Fairy Tail Mages and their new ally, Jake, went on to their way to Bakunawa Fang.
Once they were gone, the Guild Master of Crescent Fox, and his right-hand man, were standing in silence. "Ethan, were it wisely to send Ethan to fight them?" Deshawn asked. "Even I don't know, but I am sure as long he has friends, nothing is impossible." Ethan said.
Later...
As Natsu, Juvia, Happy and Jake were walking the woods, towards the direction where they were told the Bakunawa Fang Guild would be at.
"Guys, do you think it´s strange?" Happy said, as he flied in the air. "What?" Natsu said, as he and Juvia turned to the Blue Cat. "Well, think about it. According to Ethan, Bakunawa Fang have aimed at Crescent Fox´s Guild Hall. Don't you think it´s strange?" Happy asked.
"Yes, I agree. As if the Crescent Fox Guild were aiming for something, then it might be the reason Bakunawa Fang at the first place." Juvia said.
"But Ethan never told us about any secrets their Guild had." Natsu said, before turning to Jake, which Juvia and Happy did as well.
"What? I don't know anything suspicious either. Not even my older brother Jacob told me anything about the Guild that could have been enough to have the attention for a Dark Guild." Jake said.
"It´s true. From what Ethan-san had told us, Crescent Fox and Bakunawa Fang haven't been in earlier conflicts before they have begun fighting months ago. He also told us that he didn't have a history with the Bakunawa Fang Guild Master." Juvia said.
"But whatever it is, it sounds trouble. We need to fix this problem soon as possible." Natsu said, which the others agreed on.
"Alright, but it seems we are close now. I recognize the area." Jake said, before eventually, the left the woods and were at a beach.
At the horizon and onto the ocean, they saw a island with a large, rock castle, that seemed to have wall surrounding it, with many windows, had about five towers and large gate on the front.
"According to Ethan-san, he told us it was there Bakunawa Fang had their base." Juvia said. They group then turned to the direction to see a harbor, with seemingly wooden ships on.
"But you said you were able to go there, without using boats, I am right?" Jake said.
"Yes, and this is what I have been having in mind." Juvia said, before then she summoned a large bubble of water, that rose from the ocean and then in front of the others.
"Ocean Sphere. This allows us to travel towards their castle, as well be there quicker and faster, plus unoticed." Juvia said. "Awesome! This is sure a lot better than using a boat! Thanks, Juvia!" Natsu said, which made Juvia blush. "Oh, it's nothing, Natsu-sama, as I am glad to be at your service." Juvia said dreamily.
"But then, don't you think we should be going?" Happy said. "I agree. Then let´s jump on, and then towards Bakunawa Fang." Natsu said.
They then went inside the water bubble, which closed them off and then went down under the ocean.
Under the water, and inside the bubble, Natsu and his friends watch the fishes of different shapes and colors, with a beautiful blue color tint.
"Man, I haven't been under the ocean before, but it sure is beautiful." Natsu said. Juvia blushed, as she felt as he had called the water lady beautiful, before turning away to cover her embarrassment.
"But within this bubble, we might be able to come faster to the enemy guild hall, and be able to sneak for a surprise attack." Jake said.
"We should still be careful; you can never know what will be coming." Juvia said.
"It seems kinda peaceful now. So far, nothing has come to attack us." Happy said.
But before even another word was spoken, a large red tentacle has risen above them, but Juvia quickly noticed them.
"Water Slicer!" Juvia said, sending her crescent shaped blasts at the tentacle, causing its owner to roar in pain. "What the hell is going on?!" Happy said, before then a large creature was showing up.
The creature was an octopus, with red skin, its eyes were yellow, has white spikes on its head, colossal in size, big enough to chomp down an elephant in its maw, which were filled with razor sharp teeth. It´s eight tentacles were long and large, moving at different directions.
"It´s octopus! A giant octopus that used to terrorize fishermen decades ago! But I thought it had been chased away." Jake said, before he then noticed a mark on it´s forehead, which were a black mark of what seemed to be a shark´s teeth, with spikes going everywhere, similar to a sun.
"That mark, I recognize it. It´s the Guild mark of Bakunawa Fang!" Jake said. "Well it seems that they have been managed to tame octopus." Natsu said. "Yes, which shows we are now in the fangs of our enemies." Juvia said.
"That´s all I need to hear. Lets do it, it´s time to taste the dark!" Natsu said with a grin.
