A Small Shift In History Can Trigger A Gigantic Turn Of Events

That's What Happened In This Parallel World

April 10, Monday, 19:40 PM

The opening ceremony of Raizen High School ended successfully.

He met her new classroom and the teacher in charge of the course, who turned out to be Tamae Okamine, a popular teacher due to her youthful appearance and relaxed attitude.

At first, everything indicated that he would be alone for the rest of the school year since when he looked at all his classmates, he did not recognize any of them from last year. They were all new; however, to his ''Good luck'', his friend, Hiroto Tonomachi, had been in the same class as him.

The day could have ended there without any mishap, but something happened that he did not expect.

One of his classmates approached him, called him by name, and asked him a question that confused him... Don't you remember me?

The name of that young girl was Tobiichi Origami, better known as the super genius of his school. She was a young and attractive-looking girl with blue eyes and short silver-white hair arranged in a balanced cut with three barrettes on the left side of her hair.

Once she finished listening to the question, she tried to give him an answer, but she couldn't. Therefore, the girl was disappointed, and without another word, she chose the seat she would keep for the whole school year.

A few moments later, Tonomachi slapped her back and joked about what had happened a few seconds ago, mentioning the girl's last name. After hearing it, Shido asked him who he was referring to; oddly enough, he had never heard that last name before.

Tonomachi was surprised to learn that he didn't know her. He thought Shido was playing a joke on him, so he asked him a second time and received the same answer.

Still not wholly believing Shido's answer, Tonomachi decided to tell him everything he knew about her, something that Shido was grateful for since he would still not know of the girl's existence without his explanation.

—If Tobiichi-san knows me? Why can't I remember her?

Sitting on the sofa at home, he searched his mind for any memory of her classmate, but he found it impossible. He could not find anything; he could swear it was the first time he had seen her.

—Maybe he made a mistake and met someone similar to me.

[PLAFF]

A loud noise interrupted his thought and forced him to look where it came from.

It was his little sister, Kotori Itsuka. Who had come out of the bathroom with her hair down, her pajamas on, and a towel on her head.

—Onii-chan, Is dinner ready yet?

Shido looked at her and slightly shook his head up and down.

—Yes, dinner is ready. Sit at the table so we can have dinner together, Kotori.

—Understood, Onii-chan!

She dried her hair with the towel, then threw it into the laundry basket. She pulled two white ribbons out of her pocket, tied her hair in two matching pigtails, and ran to sit on one of the dining room chairs.

—I guess I'll have to ask him myself.

He spoke quietly so as not to be overheard by Kotori. Her intrigue was great; he wanted to know how they met; if Origami told her, he could remember the day they met.

Kotori, who was waiting for dinner sitting on a chair, noticed her brother was not getting up from the sofa, so she yelled at him to get his attention.

—Don't just stand there, Onii-chan! I'm so hungry!

Shido heard his sister and stopped thinking about the matter involving Origami. Tomorrow he would be sure to ask her about how they met her.

—I'm coming, Kotori!

He stood up, heading to the kitchen to serve the meal he had prepared a few minutes ago on two plates.

20:30 PM

The two brothers finished dinner a few minutes ago. Shido was washing the dishes, and Kotori was sitting on the couch while watching a riddle show on TV.

—Ouch!

Shido let out a small groan of pain, which was loud enough for Kotori to hear and turn to look at him.

—Are you okay, Onii-chan?

The edge of a knife caused the wound. It was not a big wound but a tiny cut on the index finger.

—Yes, there is nothing to worry about, Kotori. It was just a tiny cut.

After giving her sister an answer. He looked at her wound and put her finger in the cold water coming out of the pipe; however, he didn't expect the water to change temperature quickly.

—Huh?, is the water temperature rising?

He took his finger from the water and looked at it again; it no longer possessed the cut mark. It was as if his finger had never experienced that wound.

—M-my wound is gone?

He doubted how such a thing was possible, but because he already had several things on his mind, he simply paid no more attention to it and set out to finish washing the remaining dishes.

Near the Itsuka residence, 20:50 PM

—He should have left the house earlier...

Once he finished washing the dishes, he checked their remaining supplies and realized he didn't have the necessary ingredients to prepare tomorrow's breakfast.

He let Kotori know he would go out and go to the nearest supermarket to buy everything he needed.

—Starting today, I will check if anything is missing at home more often

He continued walking at a brisk pace towards the supermarket. The only thing that seemed strange to him was that no one was passing by.

—Is it normal for no people to pass by this place? It's still early enough

With some trepidation, he continued on his way; after all, his priority was to get the ingredients for breakfast before it got any later.

—Hm? What could that be?

A few inches away from him, he glimpsed a human silhouette illuminated by the moonlight. It wasn't easy to distinguish whether it was a man or a woman at a distance, so he squinted to get a better look.

—It's...

After trying for a short time, he managed to see a female figure with a curvy body, purple semi-transparent full-body stockings with star patterns, a belt located at her waist that held some cloth garments, a cape, and a witch's hat with a pair of bat wings next to a belt with an emerald on the front.

—A witch?!

The young man shuddered in fear. He never imagined that witches existed outside the fictional world. He always thought they were characters invented by their authors to use them as antagonists in some fairy tales.

The silhouette, now dubbed by Shido as a witch, held a fold of his hat, covered a large part of his face, and began slowly approaching him.

It didn't take long for the boy's nerves to surface. He was afraid of what might happen next. In his eyes, it looked like a nightmare.

While he remained motionless, not knowing how to react, the woman stopped in front of him and, with one of her hands, raised the part of her hat that covered his face.

When he could fully appreciate the witch's face, he blushed.

The girl was beautiful, but there was something he had been completely mesmerized by, and that was her two jade-colored eyes. That part of her completely captivated Shido.

—Ara~Ara, What's such a cute little guy doing walking alone at this time of night?

After hearing the girl address him, his nerves increased. It wasn't customary for a girl to call him "Cute."

—E-erm... I-I was going to...

Shido stammered as he avoided looking directly into her eyes.

The witch let out a small giggle at how he acted and subsequently gently rested the index finger of her right hand on top of the young man's lips.

—Shhhh... quiet, don't be afraid, I won't eat you.

Shido made eye contact with her and fell silent.

—Good boy

After getting the silence she wanted so much, the witch lifted her finger resting on Shido's lips and posed in a rather suggestive pose.

—If you don't mind, could you tell me your name, young man?

Without taking his eyes off her, he answered her question quickly. His embarrassment and nerves were too great for him to engage her in everyday conversation.

—My name is S-Shido, I-Itsuka Shido.

The witch smiled, raised a finger, placed it on his face, and winked at him.

—Well... I'll call you Shido-kun!

The boy's face turned even redder. A girl older than him asked him his name and soon gave him a nickname that showed a certain closeness between them.

Everything that was happening to him at this moment seemed highly surreal

—Can I ask you a question, Shido-kun?

Shido nodded his head. He was too embarrassed to utter a single word.

—What do you like most about me?

Her question surprised him; they had only met a few minutes ago, and she wanted a question of such magnitude answered. Still wanting to be nice to her, he would answer her.

He looked closely at the witch's body; he couldn't deny that she had a good physique; her body was very much like a model's. He would have told her she was perfect if he were an ordinary guy, but he didn't belong to that group of guys.

—Y-your...

In the middle of his answer, he closed his eyes; the embarrassment he felt at that moment was too much and even more if we consider that he was not used to conversing with women.

On her side, the witch sketched a small smile as she waited patiently for the compliment; she imagined that he would answer the most obvious thing that any ordinary boy his age would answer.

—Your eyes!

As soon as she heard his answer, the witch opened her eyes wide and blinked several times; she didn't believe what she had heard; for her, the answer made no sense.

—Huh?

There were endless things to flatter her, but he chose her eyes.

—Are you serious, Shido-kun?

It was the first time someone didn't praise her beautiful body; she had previously asked the same question to several people; however, they all answered, "You're perfect."

It was not that she hated that answer. She liked to receive it, but after hearing it so many times she was bored, so she decided to look for a different person, one who did not answer her the same and it seemed that after so long, today she finally found her.

—Y-yes, t-they are very pretty.

The older woman covered her mouth with her hand and blushed slightly. The way she said it sounded very different from the rest, she didn't know how to describe it exactly, but he was the first person to make her blush.

Once it dawned on her how she felt, she shook her head from side to side and pretended not to blush. Then she raised one of her arms and uttered a name strange to Shido.

—Haniel!

Above the hand, she held up, a broom with Halloween decorations appeared. She held it with both hands and climbed on top of it. Afterward, he gave Shido one last smile.

—It's time for me to go Shido-kun, but I assure you we'll see each other again. Until then... Remember your Onee-san!

Although the girl was about to leave, Shido wanted to know her name, so he pushed his embarrassment aside and plucked up the courage to ask her name.

—W-wait, w-would like to know what your name is!

The girl smiled, got down from her broom, and held it with one of her hands, then walked towards Shido, bent down, and kissed him on the cheek.

—Natsumi, my name is Natsumi. Remember that, Shido-kun.

She climbed back onto the broom and rose quickly into the air, quickly departing the scene. As he did so, he waved goodbye to the boy with one hand.

—See you later, Shido-kun! We'll see each other again very soon!

And after a few minutes, Natsumi was lost in the immense sky adorned by endless stars. Shido, on his side, remained motionless on the sidewalk; his head still processing everything he had experienced during this little night encounter.

—D-did s-she... kiss me?

Shido's Room, 23:00 PM

An hour passed since that encounter, and Shido returned home to find her in profound silence. Kotori had gone to sleep long before he arrived, so he ordered the ingredients in their corresponding place, trying to make as little noise as possible, and then went to shower to sleep more relaxed.

Once he finished bathing, he went to his room, put on his pajamas, and lay on his bed while thinking about the girl he had talked to hours ago.

—Natsumi... That's a pretty name.

He moved to the side to settle himself to find a more comfortable sleeping position; however, Natsumi's last words suddenly came to his head "See you later, Shido-kun! We'll see each other again very soon!"

—Wait a second... if what she said is true, Do you mean I'll see her again?

Without him realizing it, that night encounter made his life change forever

The life as a high school student that he had until that moment would give a 180° turn, and the one in charge of fulfilling that would be the girl in witch costume that he had just met, or should we address her by her name...

Natsumi
