-Danchi-
After cleaning up the pool of tears in the living room, Inko sat on the couch watching intently as Ryuko and Izuku's match was about to start. Her hands trembled and her feet repeatedly tapped on the floor.
"My baby… my baby's about to fight Ryuko."
Seeing the two fight, even when it was just a competition, made her anxious. They were both rays of sunshine in her life.
"PLEASE BE GENTLE WITH EACH OTHER!"
..~~~HLK~~~..
"Let's get these roaring semifinals started!"
'Time to win,' Ryuko grinned.
"READY!"
'I won't lose,' Izuku assured himself, a slight smirk forming.
"BEEGINNNNN!"
They were off! The two friends-turned-rivals moved right at the first instant they could. The pair's feet left the ground as they were ready to clash, both of them already halfway across the ring.
As the duo were separated by feet and then inches, moving closer and closer, Ryuko and Izuku pointed their lead elbows out before letting 'em fly and connecting.
-WHAM!-
A thunderous clap echoed throughout the stadium. The force was enough to create wind pressure that made the blades of grass sway. The tiles beneath their feet began to crack and form a dent on the platform. Everyone collectively gasped at the two powerhouses clashing head on.
This was just a taste of what's to come. They were dodging and weaving, with each move made in quick succession. Hooks, elbows, and kicks. There would be no rules in this fight.
Ryuko went for a backhanded blow on Izuku, but he was smarter than that. He clamped onto Matoi's limb and countered with a kick to her abdomen, sending the girl a few meters away before landing on her back.
"Ugh, he packs more of a punch than I thought. But that's Izuku for ya," The girl strained a bit as she shook off the blow.
The pain she felt was basically nothing, being no stranger to taking damage in a confrontation. She was quick to hop back to her feet and go for another right hook, but it didn't connect like she thought it would.
"Nice try," Izuku spoke with a sly grin, the back of his hand shielding his cheek from her fist. "But I think you've overused that move a few too many times during training."
"You really were studying me hard, huh? Knew it."
As Izuku began to shove away her fist, Ryuko slid it down his arm in one swift motion. Her whole body turned as she went for the hit to his stomach with her left elbow, causing him to gasp. She then swung her forearm upward and got in a hard jab to the cheek.
"THIS FIGHT IS BANANAS!" I THINK THOSE ARE THE FIRST CONSECUTIVE HITS WE'VE SEEN FROM THOSE TWO!" Mic exclaimed.
"I counted a couple more during the initial fracas," Aizawa stated, much to his friend's chagrin.
Before Matoi could land a third hit, Izuku sensed what was coming. He quickly readied himself and weaved out of the way by ducking underneath her fist and striking her stomach with his open palm.
But this time, he lifted the girl up with all of his might and slammed her down into the ground, splintering the tile surface underneath Matoi. It was very effective, leaving her gasping for air.
Before he could catch his breath, Izuku got a swift kick to the shins. Ryuko was ruthless in training, and the same went for a fight. As the boy fell to the arena floor, Matoi spun her body around to pin and subdue Midoriya. She quickly wrapped her legs around his neck to cut off his air supply, hoping to knock him out here.
"Ghk!" Izuku grunted.
"Sorry man! Not losing!" Matoi gritted her teeth, but she was having fun. Too bad this couldn't go on forever.
'I'm not done yet!'
In a stunning reversal, Midoriya latched a hand onto each of Matoi's legs with a quick burst of 6% to forcibly pull the extremities apart from the lock she put him in, much to Ryuko's surprise.
"Jesus, Izuku! Just how strong are you?!" Ryuko strained, trying to put her opponent back into her hold.
"Stronger than you think," Izuku quipped, drawing a quick laugh from Matoi.
Midoriya broke free and feigned a kick to gain some distance from Matoi. He slowly massaged his neck, trying to ease the throbbing around his throat as he was close to ready for another round.
"Look at their moves! How can their fight be so fierce, yet so contained?!" Inamuta rapidly typed into his data pad while shifting his gaze up and down.
"They lack technique, but they do know how to fight properly. Each of their attacks have a purpose behind them. Those two aren't just blindly swinging. It seems that Izuku Midoriya is the perfect test subject for Matoi. Isn't that right, Inamuta?" Satsuki spoke calmly.
"Perfect doesn't even begin to scratch the surface, Lady Satsuki! This boy is the definition of unrefined, natural talent. His records show that he hadn't shown any signs of a Quirk until this school's entrance exam. And during that time, he apparently broke his limbs as a result of trying to use his power. To improve to the point he is at now with regulation and yet still packing a punch… All of this progress came in such a short time. It's extraordinary!"
Inamuta was awestruck as the greenette continued his struggle against the Kamui wielder.
"He's a true prodigy. It only took the right power to show that. Once he's in our grasp… Yes, I have no doubt at all. He would be a powerful ally for your plans, Lady Satsuki."
Everyone couldn't have been any more enthralled with how the two hero trainees were exchanging blows. Though their methods were rash given the vibe of the battle was more akin to street combat, there was an elegance behind how they traded off on their respective movements. It was like a synchronized dance performance.
"Holy cow, look at them go! It's a street fight on 'roids!" Mineta shouted.
"The stuff they do to each other and they get right back up. Just what kind of training did they do?" Jirou shuddered at the thought.
"Remember, Matoi did say she had Midoriya punch her repeatedly, with consent, for an unnaturally long amount of time," Iida reminded his peers. "This could be part of the reason why she made such an unusual request."
"Wait a minute. Why isn't Matoi using her sword?" Uraraka questioned.
That was a good point. Matoi drew her crimson blade right away when she faced Yaoyorozu and Shiozaki. Why not against an equally powerful Midoriya? Everyone among the throng of 1-A students tried to guess and theorize why until a certain someone spoke up.
"You guys are idiots."
Everyone turned their attention to the guy who knew the two fighters the longest, Katsuki Bakugo.
"They're just warming up. There's no way they'd be going all out. Not this early in the fight," Bakugo noted.
"That damn nerd learned from his fight against Icy-hot, when he was getting tired from using his ice quirk too much. Now, he's conserving his power. He must have thought the same thing when he watched my fight against Kirishima. Quirks are an extension of our bodies and can get worn out," he leaned forward and placed his chin into his palm.
"So they're holding back, figuring out how much they're gonna have to kick it into gear when the time comes to settle this."
Bakugo paid attention to everyone's fights, but he was especially focused on this one. After all, it had the two people he was gunning for the most going head-to-head.
"Well, I had my fun! I think it's time we take things up a notch!" Ryuko wielded her scissor blade and pointed it towards Izuku.
"Alright then! I won't be holding anything back!" He shouted and pointed his fist out to her.
Both of them braced themselves before charging at each other once again. This time Izuku was the first to make a move as green electricity began to surround him, which Ryuko noticed right away.
"Detroit Smash!"
The Kamui wielder quickly lifted her scissor blade to block the blow. A loud CLANG sounded off and bounced off the walls of the stadium. Wind pressure had burst around them once again and blew out towards the stands.
"Not bad, Izuku!" She shifted her arms to shove his fist away and delivered a reverse hook kick. Izuku promptly blocked it with his forearm, which sent him sliding back on his feet a few meters.
"Sheesh! Your heels look sharp!" The greenette remarked as he had a moment to look at her footwear. He was lucky that he blocked the flat end of her foot with his arms.
Their brawl continued as Izuku leaped towards Ryuko to get some shots in, but would be kept at bay from her long blade. Ryuko attempted to land some blows, but Izuku got up too close and personal for her to do any meaningful swipes with her sword. She had to play defensively or use regular attacks.
The greenette ducked down once the Kamui wielder swung her blade horizontally and performed a sweep kick at her feet.
"Oww!" The girl fell right onto her tush, and Izuku was quick to move in and rush her.
'Crap! He's getting too close!' Though she started to smirk slightly.
"You know, I think you'd look great with a HAIRCUT!" Ryuko slashed at Izuku with a flick of the wrist to get some distance between them.
"Wait, what do you meanOHSHIT!" The greenette performed a high jump in order to get away. This resulted in the tip of the blade slicing through his gym top, cutting a section down. Once he landed on his feet, his abs and the underside of his pecs were visible.
"Brr. Colder than I thought!" Izuku shivered.
"HOLYCRAPIZUKUI'MSOSORRY! I MEANT TO ONLY SLICE OFF A BIT OF YOUR HAIR!" Ryuko squealed and held her hands over her lips and nose. Her face glowed redder than the streak in her hair.
Izuku's evasion turned out to be unnecessary since Ryuko was going to intentionally miss. She expected him to at least roll away or backflip, but not do a high jump in the air that inadvertently led the sword to his clothes.
Midoriya looked down at his now sliced UA gym top. There wasn't a point in keeping it on now. All the wind from this fight would weigh him down with the open flap.
"Okay then…"
With one motion, Izuku grabbed a part of his tattered top, and then ripped the shirt from his midsection.
"Time to get serious!"
Ryuko's eyes dilated the instant he tore off his jacket. Puffs of smoke steamed out of her nose before she wrapped her hands around the sides of her head.
'Keep it together. Abs. Keep it together! Very firm abs! GOD DAMN IT! STOP IT, BRAIN!'
Senketsu had a thought in mind, but he stopped himself from speaking out loud once he remembered the last time he said something similar. That was when he had his eye stretched out by Ryuko back at the beach.
'Better not test the girl's limits right now,' Senketsu warned himself.
…
'Though why is it so quiet?'
All that met Midoriya was a very, very brief silence. Looking around to gauge what was going on, he was met with a sudden, visceral reaction from the spectators. And the colorful commentary of one Present Mic.
"LOOKS LIKE CLASS 1-A IS GOING FULL ON FANSERVICE!"
"You're so gonna get fired and I won't feel even a little sorry for you."
"HE'S GOT ABS!"
"DO YOUR PANTS NEXT!"
"COME TO MAMMA!"
"I WANNA RUN MY TONGUE ON THEM!"
"I WANNA RUB MY HANDS ON HIS PECS!"
The stadium was bombarded with the erotic cries of the ladies, gentlemen and the techinicolor rainbow in between, in response to him ripping off his shirt.
Ryuko was completely and utterly stunned as she stared at her opponent's now-naked midsection. Her face turned a deep crimson with a trickle of blood slowly dripping from her nose. All she could think about was the hard, firm and jacked wall of muscle staring right back at her.
The reactions of Class 1-A were no different, with a good half of the class completely flabbergasted.
"How in the hell does he look so scrawny under those clothes, but so jacked when out of them?!" Kaminari exclaimed, feeling a hint of jealousy for his classmate's chiseled physique.
"I…um, wow okay. -Ahem- Was not prepared for that, oooookay. Yeah, Matoi is sooo fucking lucky, she has no fucking idea," Jirou chimed in, her face now a very vibrant scarlet.
"OH YEAH, SHOW EM WHAT YA GOT MIDORIYA! THAT SHIRT TEAR WAS THE DEFINITION OF MANLY! LOUD AND PROUD, MY DUDE!" Kirishima shouted, just jazzed up with a sudden rush of testosterone.
"Man, I never thought Midoriya would pull a stunt like that. I could see Kirishima doing it. Hell, maybe Bakugo? But Midoriya of all people? That takes some serious cojones," Sero added his two cents in.
"I guess? But with all the time he's been spending with Matoi, I'm not surprised he tried something like this! YOU GO MIDORIYA! STRUT YOUR STUFF! THE WHOLE WORLD'S WATCHING YA!" Ashido hollered down.
"His innocent face doesn't match that kind of body at all. Amazing," Tsuyu added.
"MIDORIYA! SUCH A LEWD ACTION IS NOT BEFITTING OF A UA STUDENT! REQUEST ANOTHER SHIRT AND COVER UP AT ON-" Before Iida could continue his lecture, a hand was placed to his mouth. The hand in question belonged to Momo Yaoyorozu, intently looking at the fighters in the arena. Her focus was specifically aimed at Midoriya, and surprisingly not Matoi.
"No, it's fine. Let it happen."
Iida turned to the class deputy to reason with her. How could she be okay with this?
"But Yaoyorozu, he is representing the clas-"
"IT. IS. Fine!" Momo stated again, very firmly. Almost like she was indirectly threatening the speedster.
'What did I tell you, kid,' Mikisugi snickered from the section of Honnōji students. 'A girl like Matoi can't resist when you strip down. Even the rest of the crowd can't get enough of you!'
"OOOOOOOH YEAAAAAAHHH! AND HERE I THOUGHT I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SEE THOSE BAD BOYS AGAIN! CUT HIS PANTS OFF NEXT RYUKO! I GOTTA SEE IF THE CARPET MATCHES THE DRAPES!" Blood hosed right out of Mako's nose as she made makeshift binoculars with her hands.
Uraraka couldn't put any words together as she stared down at the arena. Her crush, the object of her affections, was shirtless. Not to mention, he came complete with a GORGEOUS six pack for the whole world to see. All she could do was stare. Just take in everything that was presented to her. Every. Single. Detail.
"Uraraka? Are…are you okay? You look a little out of it," Ashido said with the world's biggest, shit-eating grin.
"Uuuuuuugggggghgagfhdggfrgahthdffffffffff."
That was all that came from the chestnut colored brunette as she continued to stare at the piece of eye candy in front of her.
..~~~HLK~~~..
-Danchi-
Inko sat on her sofa with a surprised look on her face. The cameraman made sure to capture everything that would throw the mother of an innocent child for a loop; him tearing off his shirt, and the multiple zooms on the people that were currently fawning over her son. Even the blushing Ryuko was caught in the frame.
"Oh. I didn't take Izuku for being the abrasive type. At least he's eating healthy."
..~~~HLK~~~..
"Such a disgusting display. Truly this society's issues run deeper than I've imagined. The time will come when I must stamp out this form of debauchery. I'll see to it that it is glassed from this earth!" Satsuki declared, as she scanned the many reactions of the crowd. Even though she herself was slightly red… VERY SLIGHTLY.
"Of course Lady Satsuki. Behavior such as this is more akin to animals than humans. I have faith that you will see to the demise of this behavior," Inamuta replied, ever feeding his leader's ego.
"Then show that dedication by deleting the 126 pictures you took of Izuku Midoriya's body, Inamuta."
'Crap!' Inamuta panicked, quickly closing the many tabs on his holo-computer showing Midoriya's revealed form in many, MANY different angles.
Nooooooot before saving five pictures in a very, VERY secure folder that NO ONE knew about… Not even Satsuki. That's kinda scary.
Izuku's torn jacket was picked up and carried away by the wind, flying in circles as the entire stadium watched it waft higher and higher. Even Ryuko had her eyes set on it. It wasn't long until it chose its target and went smack-dab into Ochako's face.
"Uraraka!" Iida shouted out of care for his friend, but saw that she wasn't hurt by the piece of clothing.
She was completely dazed. All of the euphoria from seeing Deku's jacked form already had her on edge, but now add his scent being flooded into her senses?
The brunette tilted backward before promptly fainting.
"Uraraka! Are you okay?!" Iida cried out, with Jirou and Ashido beside him with equally concerned looks on their faces.
Mako bolted out of her seat, but not before Mikisugi caught her and struggled to keep her trapped.
"HEY! HEY! HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING, MANKANSHOKU?!"
"She has a piece of Nirvana on her face! I WANT IT!"
"MAKO NO!" Mikisugi strained.
"MAKO YESSSSSS!"
"W-well…looks like the crowd uh…likes the show?" Izuku strained, his arms wrapping around himself in the false hopes of covering his body from the raging crowd. His failed attempt to ease the now rising tension fell on deaf ears. Ryuko wasn't sporting her bashful look anymore.
Instead, she wore a deep scowl on her reddened face, not enjoying all of the explicit and raunchy comments about her best friend. The point of him getting some confidence was for him to go after Ochako. IT WAS NOT FOR THESE HUNGRY SKANKS IN THE CROWD TO THIRST OVER HIM!
"Dammit! Even thinking about Uraraka thirsting is making me pissed! WHY THOUGH?!" Matoi thought, getting even more confused and angry.
"Um…"
Ryuko's head shot up, her intense glare burning a hole in Izuku's forehead.
Midoriya backed away, unsure what his friend's reaction really meant.
"Damn you…"
"R-R…Ryu..ko?"
Without warning, Matoi raised the rending scissor and bolted straight for Izuku, who was completely perplexed by her change in demeanor.
"STUPID, SEXY, IZUUUUUKUUUUU!"
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!" Izuku screamed, narrowly dodging Ryuko's attack.
"I thought you wanted to be careful with your sword?!"
"WELL, I CHANGED MY MIND!" Ryuko barked back.
Matoi continued to attack Midoriya with a rage akin to an erupting volcano, each slash and swipe being heavier than the last.
'Crap! She's really laying into me! I've got to close the gap. At this rate, I'll be forced out of bounds! There's got to be a way to slow her down. Think Deku, THINK!' Izuku thought while dodging an overhead swipe.
"LOOKS LIKE THE FIGHT'S BACK ON SCHEDULE! MATOI IS RELENTLESSLY SLASHING AT MIDORIYA! SERIOUSLY, THE POOR KID'S GOT NO BREATHING ROOM."
"It's all on purpose."
Present Mic looked back at his co-host, confused by his statement about the fight.
"It may look like she's hitting without finesse, because that's the point. Matoi is relying on natural instinct along with her strength and speed to keep Midoriya busy. Without a proper style to fall on, Matoi's hits are unpredictable…and dangerous."
"OH… Yeah, I'm still lost there buddy," Present Mic admitted, feeling like he was missing whatever Aizawa was seeing.
"Midoriya on the other hand is one hell of an analyst. From his first day at UA, he managed to get his act together and found a way to gain concrete control over his power.
"OKAY, SO WHAT'S THE PROBLEM THEN?!"
"One word: Structure."
Izuku narrowly dodged another heavy slash from Ryuko, only for her to use her scissor blade to trip him. As Midoriya laid on the ground, Matoi went for a downward slice, wanting to end this fight now.
Thinking fast, Midoriya lifted his legs and pushed his body toward his head, performing a kip up. While he was up in the air, Midoriya went for and landed a jumping spinning back-kick on Ryuko's right shoulder, sending her back a few feet.
"Mr. Aizawa is right in his analysis," Yaoyarozu said, earning some glances from her classmates.
"Care to elaborate on that, Yaoyarozu? How can structure be a deciding factor in this fight?" Iida questioned.
"Think back to the beginning of our year. What's different about Midoriya now compared to then?" Yaoyorozu challenged her classmates, each of them looking very confused.
"It's Shank, you damn extras!"
Everyone turned to Bakugo, surprised that he even had anything to say for this fight, considering he hated the two of them with every ounce of his soul.
"That damn nerd couldn't fight for shit. Even after he got that stupid Quirk, he couldn't throw a punch to save his life," Bakugo explained, eyes still trained on the arena.
"If that's the case, why does that matter now? He was fighting pretty good before, heck based on what Matoi told us he's doing pretty… Wait," Kaminari started to understand.
"Now you're getting it. Deku never had to fight before now. He's going against someone who's fought others on pure instinct alone. Someone who-"
"-Was never traditionally trained," Yaoyarozu finished.
"I WAS ALMOST DONE EXPLAINING, PONYTAIL! I DIDN'T ASK FOR A BACKSEAT TALKER!" Bakugo exclaimed.
"Midoriya's improvement in an area of his development is dependent on the people invested in it. On his own, he could've found a way to fight his battles. But it would take much longer for him to crack down on what to do in said fights. And there's the problem with fighting styles. If Matoi had a traditional style she used in combat, Midoriya would have found a way to adapt and counter. Even if you don't practice it, timing and patterns can be analyzed and used to turn the tides."
"Okay, so how does that fit with Matoi though?" Ochako asked, wanting to find some way for Midoriya to get an edge.
"Matoi is a street brawler, a mixed martial artist in more traditional terms. Anything that works, she could use. There are no traditions in MMA. And since she's always alternating her attacks, there are no clear telegraphs of what's coming next. An experienced fighter wouldn't have this problem, though," Ojiro added, his expertise in martial arts showing.
"But Izuku didn't know how to fight before now! How is he supposed to win?!" Ochako exclaimed.
"Either he gets good quickly, or he'll lose this fight," Kirishima concluded.
Ochako sat back down, feeling dejected by the comments from her classmates. She could see Izuku struggling against Matoi's relentless attacks. The look of sheer determination from the pair reminded Uraraka why she aspired to be like them. A constant need to improve, the need to succeed.
The drive to be the best hero they can be.
"COME ON IZUKU, YOU'VE GOT THIS!"
Midoriya paused to see the origin of that yell, seeing his dear friend cheering him on.
"SHOW HER WHO'S BOSS! THIS MATCH IS YOURS, IZUKU! NOW TAKE IT!" Ochako cheered on.
"She's right. I can do this! Rhythm or no rhythm, I can still fight! I just need an opening."
Before he could react, Ryuko blitzed in front of Midoriya, catching him by surprise.
"Focus on me instead of your girlfriend, Izuku! Now I GOT YOU!" Matoi proclaimed.
'NOW!'
Before Ryuko could complete her attack, Midoriya dropped down and dove to the right. His next series of moves had him end up sliding a few feet behind Matoi. As her sword came down, Izuku shot up and wrapped both of his arms around her body and lifted her into the air.
"What the?!" She gasped, his hands locked.
From there, Midoriya bent backwards and slammed Matoi down with a suplex, her head the first part of her body that landed on the ground.
"GOOD GOD, THAT SUPLEX WAS BEAUTIFUL! SERIOUSLY ERASER, WHERE DID THIS KID LEARN HOW TO SCRAP LIKE THAT?!"
"I…I'm honestly just as lost as you are," Aizawa blinked, completely surprised at this development.
"H-holy crap, that suplex though! It was like something out of an action movie!" said Itsuka Kendo, the class rep of 1-B.
"Ryuko! Are you okay?!" Senketsu cried out, hoping no lasting injuries were sustained from the previous attack.
"Yeah, I'm good. Jesus, where did he learn that?" Ryuko strained, getting up and rubbing the top of her sore head.
"I have you to thank, Ryuko!"
Before she could react, Matoi was hit with a side step push kick, sending her an extra few feet away.
"I got that idea… The day I invited you back home," Midoriya huffed, getting winded from his last attack.
"What are you…oh," Ryuko realized. The All Might vids. More specifically what they watched AFTER.
"Those movie fights… You took from those?!" Matoi exclaimed.
"You gave me an idea that night. I took so much inspiration from All Might, to the point where I based how I fought on him. All those times I've watched him, wanting to BE him. I thought fighting like him was the only way forward."
Midoriya straightened himself, still winded from the last exchange.
"But that was the wrong way to go. And then you showed me that Matrix fight, and it got me thinking. I can't fight like All Might because I don't have the strength, so I'll go somewhere else. Action movies are always good pieces of inspiration. And besides… You're the one who wanted me to fix my comic addiction, right?" Midoriya finished with a smirk.
"Oh yeah! Looks like things are starting to turn. GO IZUKU!" Uraraka cheered, happy to see a change in the match.
"I wouldn't celebrate just yet."
Uraraka turned to Ojiro, who kept focused and never wavered.
"Whaddya mean? Izuku found a way to hit her, so he has a chance. Right?"
"Hold on!" Mineta yelled. "Is anyone going to-"
"NOT NOW!" The rest of the class shouted before Ojiro continued on.
"That may be, but look at him. All that dodging from before took a bit of the wind out of his sails. While his attacks were impressive and flashy, they definitely used up more of his stamina. Even though he found a way to fight back, he wouldn't have a way to properly conserve his energy."
"So now what? Would he just tire out?" Kirishima asked.
"Actually, no. Look at Matoi," Yaoyarozu said, having her classmates turn their attention to the girl in question.
"Is she…?" Kaminari started to ask.
Ryuko wiped away a large amount of sweat from her forehead, as she started breathing more heavily.
"Yeah. She's sweating."
Ojiro's statement was true; Both of the combatants' fatigue was showing in clear view. Instead of fighting again, they both took a moment to get a breather, which the crowd was surprisingly understanding of.
'I'm starting to have some trouble here. I need to come up with a new strategy and fast! Ryuko has years of combat experience under her belt. She can easily take me out with her enhanced strength and speed. With her sword, she could get me from longer ranges. It's almost impossible for me to get close enough to hit her proper.'
Izuku looked toward Matoi, knowing she was readying herself for the oncoming barrage.
'My best bet right now is to disarm her and use her limited stamina. She's been syncing and desyncing all day even with the rest she's gotten. So by the looks of it, she's going to reach her limit soon. I just need to speed up the process, and hit her as much as I can. Even if she can tank my hits…'
Izuku straightened his body up, firing up Full Cowling again.
'I'LL PUSH HER TO THE EDGE!'
This time, Izuku waited for Ryuko to come right to him and swiftly dodged her attacks. He also started dashing away from the Kamui wielder, forcing her to chase him around the platform. With how fast he was, running him down was a tedious task.
"Hey! C'mon Izuku! Don't make me have to keep chasing you!"
Izuku ducked once again as Ryuko swung her blade at him and clutched the hand that held the blade. He tightened the grip on her wrist, forcing her to loosen her hold on the blade. His other hand tightened up into a fist, ready to strike.
"6% DETROIT SMASH!"
He struck her straight in the chest, separating her from the blade. She landed on her side and skidded to the other end of the platform. Izuku labored deep and heavy breaths while holding the sword tightly. He finally got it.
A second later, the lightning from Midoriya's Quirk encompassed the blade as it slowly changed color, going from crimson red to emerald green. Everyone gasped at what they witnessed, especially Satsuki and Inamuta.
"Hold on a second! It changed color! How is that possible? I thought the blade was created by Isshin Matoi!" The sky bluenette remarked in awe, tilting his glasses to be sure they weren't messing with his vision.
'Interesting,' Satsuki sat in silence and furrowed her brows. 'What could this mean?'
Ryuko coughed several times and gasped for air as the pain stung in her chest. She nearly curled on the floor, clutching at her chest tightly.
"Ryuko! Are you okay?" Senketsu pried.
"F-Fuck! Izuku really took the lessons to heart. G-God, that hurts!" The girl strained and slammed her fist into the ground before pushing off and up onto her feet. She saw Izuku still holding the blade and staggering before letting out a chuckle, drawing the greenette's attention.
Matoi motioned for him to come forward and return her weapon back to her. No words need be spoken.
Izuku smiled and shook his head. In one swift motion, he flicked the blade out of bounds.
-SKRRRRT-
-SKRRTCH-
He may have flicked it too hard. The blade had changed back to red and currently found itself impaled 5 inches into the wall. The entire stadium gasped at the mark he made.
"O-Oh my gosh!" Izuku covered his mouth with his hands.
"What the hell was that?!" Ryuko gasped.
"I thought it'd be cool, okay?! I-I didn't think I threw it that hard!"
He was successful in disarming her, but it took a lot more out of him than he anticipated. His stance faltered and he was reduced to taking a knee and breathing heavily.
"I gotta give Ryuko credit, that scissor blade is heavy," Izuku thought as he looked down on his hand, hints of redness around the palm area.
"To think the blade caused this just from me holding it. My hand stings from the grip alone. And Ryuko had this thing for months. If I even tried to swing it, I would've cut my palms for certain."
"So this was what you were planning, huh, Izuku?" She stumbled again, trying to keep her balance.
"I didn't have a choice. This might be the best chance I have at winning," he chuckled in between heavy breaths and stood back up as well.
"Alright. Then I think it's about time we ended this," The Kamui wielder held her shoulder and moved her arm before returning to her stance.
"Heh, couldn't agree more," The greenette smirked while wiping sweat off of his chin and got into his stance.
All that followed was silence. The sun bathed the ring in a warm glow, with the wind stirring. Both fighters adjusted their stances. Izuku went back up to 6%, feeling more comfortable with the marginal boost in power now, while Matoi shifted her base around to better launch in.
"This is way more intense than I thought it would be," Mic turned to Eraserhead.
"Good," Eraserhead said. "That's how it should be."
No one moved or spoke. A literal pin drop could bring the place down whenever the two fighters went for it.
Both of them took a deep breath, closing their eyes before exhaling out, their eyes flashing open.
'NOW!'
'NOW!'
The wind howled as the two finally made their move to close this fight out, jumping from their stationery positions as the crowd went wild.
Their forearms clashed, releasing an immense force that cracked more of the arena. This was it: Time to go full out and dish out everything they had left in the tank!
Ryuko raised both of her arms to block a heavy hitting punch from Izuku. Her arms trembled from the amount of force he exerted, but this wouldn't stop her.
Ryuko followed up with the same move as both of their forearms clashed into each other repeatedly. The more this continued, the more the platform would get damaged. The corners had completely combusted and fell apart onto the grass. They were even creating a small ditch where they were punching.
Izuku caught Ryuko's fist in his palm. Ryuko did the same thing afterwards, resulting in them locking their hands together and getting into a struggle of who would falter to the other's strength. But so far, neither of them yielded.
"Ready to give up?!" Ryuko strained, but still managed to grin.
"In your dreams!" Izuku growled and returned the expression.
Neither of them moved from where they stood, resulting in the ground crumbling beneath their feet. Figuring this wasn't going anywhere, Izuku jumped and slammed his feet into Ryuko's chest to launch himself away.
"AGH!" Ryuko grunted as she was forced to let go.
"That was dirty!" The girl shouted and dusted off her chest.
"It's a fight, Ryuko! There are no dirty tricks!" Izuku retorted.
"FINE THEN! NO MORE TRICKS! WE'RE FINISHING THIS NOW!"
Ryuko's thrusters ignited loudly, giving her a boost as she sprinted. She swung her arm back for one last punch. The last two weeks she and Izuku had been training all led up to this moment.
"I WOULDN'T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY, RYUKO!"
Izuku took things a step further and powered up to 7%. After all, who else would be fit to test his limits besides Ryuko? He held his arm back, ready to strike.
"HHHRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHHHHH!"
"SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSHH!"
Everything slowed down once both of their arms crossed paths. Their forearms crashed into one another; Ryuko's going underneath, Izuku's going overhead. It was only seconds before their fists would connect with each other's faces. Out of nowhere, Ryuko unclasped her hand and grabbed Izuku's underarm. She quickly tilted her head to avoid the punch, but Izuku's knuckle made a deep cut on her cheek.
"H-HUH?!" Izuku was caught off guard and before he knew it, Ryuko's other hand grabbed his wrist and began to maneuver him.
"HHHRRAAGHH!" Ryuko tossed Izuku over her in a judo throw, launching him several meters before his back made impact on the hard concrete tile. The entire stadium gasped loudly at this unexpected turn of events.
"AGHH!" The boy cried out in pain as his shoulder took the brunt of the damage. All of the force of hitting the ground shot straight through his back and into his chest, causing him to cough up bits of blood.
His legs shifted on the ground, trying to push himself back up. But his body was completely spent and wouldn't budge. It screamed for him to stop.
"Damn it…! C'mon…" Izuku strained as he tried to push himself again. Pain was shooting through him like nobody's business and the sun was right in his eyes. Man, this was NOT a pleasant feeling right now. That was until something came into his sights and blocked out the sun.
It was Ryuko.
She sat in a crouched position behind him. The sun wrapped around Ryuko, surrounding her angelic smile. Her blue, gear-like gaze aligned with his emerald greens.
"Hey, Izuku," Ryuko said ever so gently.
Izuku's cheeks turned a mild pink, he could feel his heart absolutely pounding at the sight.
"H-Hey, Ryuko," Izuku returned shakily, but still left a grin that made her heart flutter.
"Izuku Midoriya! Can you continue?!" Midnight called.
The two teens stared at one another for a few more seconds, but it felt much longer than that. Izuku chuckled before raising his hand up and gave the signal that he was done. Ryuko won.
"Izuku Midoriya forfeits! Ryuko Matoi moves on to the final round!"
"HOLY COW! WHAT AN ENDING! THE TWIST! THE SPORTSMANSHIP! THIS WAS NOTHING SHORT OF INCREDIBLE! RYUKO MATOI ADVANCES ON TO THE FINALS! LET'S GIVE BOTH OF OUR CONTESTANTS A ROUND OF APPLAUSE FOR GIVING US THE BEST MATCH YET!"
The entire stadium lit up with cheers. They witnessed an outstanding match, perhaps an all-time classic. Ryuko desynced and helped Izuku stand back up, offering her shoulder to support him on the way out. They both stood and gazed on rows upon rows of people rising to their feet and giving a hearty round of applause to celebrate them for a good fight.
Izuku nearly had tears flowing from his eyes, which Ryuko noticed immediately.
"Told you we'd bring the house down," She chuckled.
"Yeah. Yeah, we did," he sniffled.
"C'mon, I think we both could use a trip to Recovery Girl's office."
As the two made the trek up the tunnel, there was a different conversation happening in the 1-A seating section.
"Well, I'm off," Iida said. "I have to face Bakugo in the next match."
"No offense Iida," Kaminari started, "But I don't think anyone can top the match those two put on, no matter if you or Bakugo won."
"WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT?!" Mina and Kirishima screamed.
"Because he already left as soon as the match ended if you're talking about Bakugo," he pointed out, with the others breathing a sigh of relief.
"Even I have to admit that it was maybe one of the best fights we may ever see," the class rep acknowledged.
"Petition to make that last fight the final," Mineta spoke up.
Everyone turned to the grape head, who cowered in fear of another Grape Treatment™.
"I think a few of us might agree with the sentiment," Ojiro said, "But it wouldn't be fair to Iida."
"You never said anything about Bakugo though," Asui added.
"He's a sadist. Screw him," Mineta shot back.
He did have a point.
"Sorry man, but Iida has a right to try and go for the win," Kaminari noted.
"Either way, that match was freaking awesome!" Kirishima roared.
"Yeah, talk about intense," Sato nodded with a goofy grin.
"This might have been the best sports festival fight ever!" Sero exclaimed. "We're never going to see someone else top this."

-Recovery Girl's Stadium office-
Midoriya groaned as the healing began to take hold, but he wouldn't be completely normal until after the festival. The last throw by Ryuko left too much damage. His back had a ton of scrapes and cuts, not to mention a few small fractures. The school nurse healed the fractures first and only some of the other damage so as to not knock him out the rest of the day. She'd have to finish the process later once his stamina recovered.
"I swear! This is the third time he's been in here today, and the second not of his own volition!" Recovery Girl scolded Matoi and whacked the teenager on the head with her cane. "I thought I was done having Midoriya as a frequent visitor!"
"I'm sorry!" Ryuko bowed profusely. "Truly sorry! We were having fun and got carried away! I'm really sorry!"
The elder sighed as she couldn't stay mad. She managed to watch that match and it was entertaining as a fan, but horrifying as a school nurse.
"Sit down, we should heal that deep cut there and any other minor injuries you have," Recovery Girl noted, as Ryuko realized that she had that wound, wincing at the stinging pain that emerged.
"Hmmm. It doesn't look as deep as it did earlier," the elder commented. "But let's get it taken care of."
-SMOOCH-
The cut started to close up and returned to normal without a scar. Her other minor abrasions also began to fade.
"Thanks," Ryuko wearily replied before someone threw the door open.
"Heads up, kid!"
A fresh UA gym jacket was tossed straight toward the bed, landing on Midoriya's chest, which was wrapped up with medical bandages due to the minor lacerations on his back.
"And here I thought you weren't slinking around the rest of the day," Ryuko smirked.
"I thought so too," All Might laughed as he shut the door. "But I couldn't sit still that entire time. I almost buffed up from the adrenaline."
"Oh, hey All Might!" Izuku muttered as his energy came back little by little.
"Easy, pal," Matoi walked over to the bed and laid a hand on his shoulder as the boy sat up. "Don't rush yourself up too fast."
Midoriya slipped on his jacket and zipped it up, as it was starting to get a little more cold in the office. Matoi internally thanked him for covering up and avoiding any further 'thoughts' she might have had.
But soon after, they were both met by Toshinori's embrace for a brief moment before he separated from the two.
"Fantastic job. Both of you! I don't think I've ever seen a festival match that close. I couldn't be more proud!"
The two teens blushed from the praise, especially Izuku. His mentor and idol saying that couldn't have gotten him more stoked than he was right there and then.
"I wish when I was Quirkless, that I could have been as strong as you were out there, Young Matoi," All Might casually said, causing the two teenager's spines to jolt.
"W-w-w-what?! You were Quirkless?!" Izuku gasped.
"No way!" Matoi remarked, albeit a little more quietly.
"SHHH! Remember where we are," the No. 1 hero hushed.
"Oops!" the inheritor covered his mouth, while Ryuko bit her bottom lip.
"I thought you basically knew everything about him, Izuku. 'Guess not," Ryuko commented with a frown.
"Still, I've been wondering something. If you could have picked anyone to come after you, why Izuku?"
Yagi cleared his throat, getting ready to delve into a topic he rarely had to discuss.
"Before One For All, I was like him," Yagi sat down for a moment, making it easier to be at eye level with the two students.
'Damn, Izuku really wasn't lying about the name of the Quirk,' Matoi thought during the pause in All Might's speech.
"Even I'm still surprised Young Midoriya never asked me about it. But more importantly, when he saved Young Bakugo from that sludge villain while I was in town, he moved on his own when no one else would. That simple action to save someone right in front of him inspired me to take action when I was already past my limit, all for the sake of helping his friend."
Ryuko's eyes glistened. She was shocked by the fact she'd never heard of that rescue before. She wasn't tearful, but this was a heartwarming moment. For all the pain he went through, Izuku's good deeds and actions were rewarded, giving him the chance to chase his dream. Even if it meant helping Katsuki.
"I knew UA was chalk full of talent, but I couldn't help seeing a bit of the old me in you when we met, Young Midoriya," Toshinori reached his hand out to ruffle Izuku's green hair. "You've made me proud as both my student and my successor."
Izuku started to tear up. He still wasn't used to so much praise and kindness all of the time.
"Thank you, All Might. I really never had this much support until I met you and got here… and found Ryuko again," Izuku weeped lightly.
While the two adults smiled, Ryuko looked troubled. She was happy, sure. But this reminded her of what they'd need to discuss later.
Though for now, she put on a smile and helped him to his feet.
"The next match is going to start soon. You both should head back up and watch. Especially you," All Might pointed at the Kamui wielder.
"Yeah, I know. I hope Iida can punk Katsuki, but I doubt it," Ryuko sighed.
All Might raised an eyebrow, curious what this was about.
"You could still deck Kacchan like you wanted to do before the festival," Izuku chuckled, remembering everyone having to restrain the two alphas in their last class session.
"I'll deck him for the both of us!"
"Ahem."
The three turned around to see Recovery Girl patiently waiting for them to stop talking.
"I know you all value privacy and all, but this isn't a social hour. There's still a tournament happening."
The others laughed weakly, a little embarrassed by it all, but got up to leave the infirmary.
"Hey," Matoi stopped All Might from turning the knob.
"The day we get back, you're spilling everything he doesn't know. If he didn't know you were Quirkless, then you've likely held some other info back, huh?" She said with a stern expression.
"That was the plan," he nodded before she backed away, letting Izuku's mentor slip out and vanish without a trace.
"C'mon, let's go Izuku. You can still use my shoulder if you need some support," the girl offered.
"I'll manage," he said as the two started to walk. "Thanks though."
"Heh. That's what friends are for, dude."

-Public Safety Commission Headquarters, Tokyo-
All day, Sayaka Grant sat with some of her top lieutenants watching the UA Sports Festival. They had a vested interest in this after all. Ryuko Matoi was the key to bringing down the Kiryuins to not only save Japan, but the entire world.
They watched the first two events, impressed, but not satisfied. Then everyone's attention was zeroed in after she bested the girl with the creation Quirk and seemed to evolve against the girl with green vines.
Now, they'd just witnessed her take down her toughest foe yet, a boy with incredible strength that only recently developed a Quirk. It was an astounding contest.
"It looks like Hawks was right to recommend the transfer program to us," Sayaka said. She smiled, just briefly, but it was there.
"Did someone say my name?"
The other's turned away from the monitor to see the No. 3 hero walking into the room.
"Do you want to stay and watch Matoi compete in the UA Sports Festival final?" The chairwoman asked.
"Sure, why not?" Hawks rolled up a chair as he took a load off.
"While you're here, we know Honnōji Academy is at the event."
"Yeah, that's been an interesting turn. There's been no unusual behavior since those crazies got near UA, according to Mikisugi. As long as it stays that way, I think we'll be fine."
Grant mulled over everything that had happened so far that day. It was still early afternoon, yet darkness felt ever closer to falling over the landscape below.
..~~~HLK~~~..
After the trip to Recovery Girl, Izuku and Ryuko waddled back to the 1-A seating section to rejoin their classmates. Even after the thrill of their fight, the two were happy to relax as spectators for the time being.
"Here Ryuko, I can make it there myself, thank you," The greenette suggested and lifted his arm off of the girl's shoulder.
"Nope. You're pretty roughed up dude. Plus, there's only a few steps left anyway," She pressed and gently pulled his arm back over her shoulder and kept him close.
"O-Oh, okay."
Izuku chuckled quietly to himself and placed his palm over his face to hide the pink blush. He glanced at Ryuko with a smile that was hidden under his hand. Once they sat down, Present Mic was just about to start announcing the next match.
"Here it is, folks! The last match before the finals! Start your engines! Because we have the guy with engines in his legs! From the hero course, Tenya Iida!"
"Next we have the tenacious bombastic contestant! Katsuki Bakugo from the hero course!"
The talented hot head versus the by-the-books class president. A matchup that mirrored Matoi and Yaoyorozu's fight. Their classmates were intrigued to see how this would turn out compared to the previous one.
"So, who do you guys got your money on?" Sero asked his peers.
"Ready?!"
"Iida," Tsuyu answered.
"Bakugo," Kaminari spoke.
"Iida!" Mina shot back.
"Iida!" Mineta shouted.
"Ummm…" Kirishima stumbled.
"Bakugo," Sato said.
"Iida," Shoji responded.
"Iida, but it's going to be close," Ojiro added.
"Iida! No wait, Bakugo! N-No wait! Umm?" Uraraka fiddled with her words.
Tokoyami scratched the bottom of his beak, remaining split on the decision. Midoriya and Yaoyorozu were in the same boat.
"Hate to say it, but Iida can't win."
Everyone turned to Matoi, giving her a shocked expression. Even though Midoriya wanted to disagree, he knew she was right.
"BEGIN!"
"RECIPRO BURST!" Iida's engines were fired up and he crossed the ring almost immediately.
'Knowing Bakugo's reflexes, I need to rush him right at the start. I need to attack at a speed that even HE can't react to!'
He wound his leg back with the intention to knock Bakugo out of bounds in one swoop. Next thing he knew, his foot was splitting a smoke cloud apart. The blonde used his explosions to leap and dodge the attack.
However, he was only just a few feet above Iida, barely making a bound over him. Why? As Bakugo rotated in midair, he aimed his palm towards the class President with sparks igniting in it.
'Too close!'
Iida jumped at the last possible second before being engulfed in a large explosive attack. He was sent tumbling on the platform, just barely dodging the explosion head on. There were mild burns on his uniform, but luckily not on his skin.
"DIE!"
Bakugo didn't give him a moment to breathe as he was already hot on Tenya's trail. He leaped towards him with his open palm ready to perform a slamming strike. Iida pushed off of his feet, leaping and rolling to safety.
"What? You're siding with Bakugo?" Ashido inquired.
"God no. I'm just being realistic here," Ryuko scoffed.
"So what are you thinking then, Matoi?" Tsuyu asked.
"Did you guys notice that Iida finished seventh in the obstacle race?"
The girls remembered their first event and began to ponder.
"Wait, that was just the first round though. He helped steal the ten million points from Midoriya in the second round," Sero remarked.
"Yeah, but that's not the point. Izuku told me that Iida got his points thanks to him being the front horse. Which makes sense since he has speed. But that's it, that's all he needed to do," Ryuko retorted.
"But with Katsuki…"
Said blonde had Iida on a wild goose chase as he constantly shot himself into the air with small bursts. The class president was like a sitting duck, unable to reach him.
"He's got a lot more he can do. You guys saw how he was moving around during the cavalry battle, right?" Ryuko asked her classmates. "I know exactly how he's going to win, but I can't exactly put it into words."
"Kacchan has the tactical advantage."
Everyone, including Ryuko, looked towards the boy that sat next to her, Izuku Midoriya. He sat with his chin in his palms, watching the fight closely.
"Kacchan's quirk has the best use for a lot of situations, while Iida is limited. That's why he was seventh in the race. Kacchan was able to breeze through the obstacles because of how versatile it was."
The teens gasped inwardly and put their focus back on the fight as it continued.
"Iida only has a few methods for attacking, while Kacchan's is only limited to his imagination."
Bakugo was relentless in keeping Iida on the run. He could keep himself in the air a little longer, but that'd be all the time he'd need.
'The only problem is when I fall back down, that's going to be his one shot to land a hit on me. So I gotta knock four eyes out with one blow.'
Bakugo finally let himself move closer to the ring and flew directly toward Iida.
"RECIPRO EXTEND!"
This was the moment Iida had been waiting for. It was do or die time now. With his 10 second boost, he bolted faster than Bakugo could see, sweeping his leg for the blonde's head.
-BAM-
Iida connected, but not where he'd hoped. Katsuki was glaring at him but not with fury. Just major disappointment.
"Game over."
-BOOOOOOOOOM-
Iida had no chance to defend as he went flying past Midnight and nearly wound up at the wall.
'I… I lost. I'm sorry brother.'
It was over. Bakugo won.
As Iida stood and walked to the tunnels while everything else happened in the background, Bakugo bumped into him, drawing a bewildered look from Tenya.
"I'll give you one thing, it wasn't a bad attempt. You were just a bad match for me with only one shot at winning."
With that, the explosive tempered blonde waltzed back into the tunnels, disappearing into the darkness.
"Was he… acknowledging me?"

Alright PKSpartan. Thirst Traps. GO!
PKSpartan A/N: SEX SELLS, LADIES AND GENTS! Sweet Jesus, was this fun to write. And the midpoint of the fight too. Funny story, me and the guys were going back and forth with each other for like 75% of our session on character moments and were spent and ready to call it quits. Then I came in with the sudden thirst trap and BOOM, suddenly we had the entire chapter mostly ready and raring to go!
Then the next bit with the fight, particularly how Izuku fights mostly. It is shown in the series that he takes bits and pieces from his friends and teachers and adds it to his arsenal. So I wanted this to be a chance to explore that a little more. I took various moves from different action scenes and fitted it in my section. The kip up was from Shang Chi, the spinning back kick was from Undisputed 4, and the sliding suplex and side-step push kick were from Donnie Yen's Enter The Fat Dragon.
As this story continues, I want to add as many moves from Hong Kong action films as I can. The big explosive fights are all good, but writing the hand to hand fights with each move being specific to every action…God it's hella tedious but so rewarding. And the thirst traps…heheheheheheee. I have a lot of plans for that in the future.
So hope ya'll enjoyed the Matoi Vs. Midoriya fight, cuz I sure as hell did.
Buckichamp A/N: Alright, I'm opening the mail bag because there's a few things I want to address.
–The Deku and Todoroki fight went a lot differently than expected, in more ways than one. Was certainly a lot shorter, but not that big a deal. … Sidebar, I think I know what she wants to talk to him about
LoneWolf427
–The fact that one of the top 5 best fights of the entirety of bnha was put in a set-up chapter, and manages to still be pretty good cracks me up XDD,but man this chapter did set up some nice stuff
…
Deku defeats shoto with mid diff, kind of shocking (not the fact that izuku won,but like, besides the two finger breaking smashes and the final clash,he kind of did not take any damage, not only that but was in full control of the entire fight)
Guest
Me and PK fought for weeks back in October and November around the Deku and Todoroki fight. He wanted to have Midoriya bust up an entire hand or arm (if I recall the details correctly) while I wanted almost no damage given the Full Cowling boost. I was not going to have a heavily damaged Midoriya fighting in the semifinals. So we (eventually) came up with the two fingers as a compromise.
As for the sidebar, you could be on the same wavelength, but I won't say anything LoneWolf wink wink. Let's see if you're right when it comes around.
Anyone else wanna weigh in among our authors?
Aduubo A/N: Nah -sleeps-
Buckichamp A/N: My last aside here is to address the audience. I see some of your reviews and I smile (or shake my head in disgust LOL JK) knowing I can't say jack doodle. Although a few questions will be answered in a few chapters coming up in the near term in some future mailbags/explainers.
