A/N: Hello and welcome back to another chapter in this story, and this time it is the real Chapter 70.
Thanks to HowInMadeHowie for his help and correcting some holes in this chapter. He also added some small details so the story feels more alive.
Now, off with you and have fun reading this chapter. Until next time
On the platform 9¾ in King's Cross on September 1, Harry and his friends walked beside the Hogwarts' Express while pulling their trunks behind them. They had just arrived a few minutes ago; thanks to the portal Yen had created. Thanks to that the girls had enough time to find a free compartment before the train would depart in half an hour towards their destination. Upon leaving the train Harry heard his name being called and saw Ron with his family just coming through the gateway to the muggle part off this train station, which made him look at the clock in his glasses' HUD.
"Well look at that, the Weasleys are on time. It looks like miracles can happen even when magic exists." Hermione, Susan and Daphne giggled as they walked after Harry towards the Weasley family.
Harry noticed that Arthur looked a bit tense, as if he wanted to tell someone something. Harry Looked around and saw that some adults were looking around as if looking for something. Harry sighed, remembering that Sirius was allegedly out to get him, but Harry could not see how such a wizard would be so dumb and come to a place where everyone was looking for him.
Harry smiled, hoping it would cause Arthur to relax a little. "Mr. Weasley, it is nice to see you. How are you?" It worked, as Harry saw Arthur losing some of his nervousness and smiled back.
"Harry, I told you that you can call me Arthur. And thank you, I feel great, even if I do not look forward to the stress right now at work. I am sure that you also heard that Sirius Black has escaped Azkaban, and the Minister ordered everyone in the Ministry to be on the lookout until he is caught. But we are no closer to catching him as we are inventing self-casting wands; it is frustrating to be honest." Arthur sighed in exasperation and shook his head. "At least Hogwarts is safe, even if I do not agree with the way the Minister does it. I mean, with Dumbledore as the headmaster and Chief Wulf being around, I am sure that even Black would not dare to break into the school." Before he could say more, his wife looked at him with a warning look that only could mean that he should shut up now.
She then turned towards Harry and smiled at him, asking him how his holiday was. Doing some small talk, Harry smiled and waved at his other friends as they walked by, all the while Harry used his Witcher senses to listen to Daphne and Hermione as they were sitting down in the compartment they had found. He made sure to tell Callie to show him with a small nav point where it was so he could find it more easily. Calllie huffed, telling Harry that she was not his secretary, all the while she placed the nav point in his HUD when she located the other AI's that were with Hermione and Daphne.
Looking out the window, the girls saw that Harry was still talking with the Weasley's and sat back down. Susan's voice had them glance at her as the redhead stood by the door. "I'm going to look for Hannah and Neville, I am sure they would like to sit with us. As we had found out last year; the compartment grows when needed. So, see you later." Susan walked out the compartment and left the other two to wait for Harry.
Daphne sighed and leaned back on her seat. "Ah, I am kind of sad that the summer is already over. It was nice to spend the time in Kear Morhen and seeing Harry train this hard. Don't you agree, Hermione?" Daphne grinned as she saw the other girl blush, seemingly reminding herself of another time where they had seen Harry in his swimming trunks at the lake. It was also a sight for Daphne to behold, even if Harry was still in the body of a young teenager anyone who saw him like that could see how hard he trained, even if they had not voiced their concerns about the scars on his body. Hermione, Daphne and Susan just reasoned with themselves that those scars were there because he trained as a Witcher from a young age and had to be wounded multiple times because of an accident during the training itself.
Hermione stammered something about changing the subject and soon they were discussing their chosen electives in school and what they were expecting of them, as Harry stepped into the compartment and sat down next to Hermione. "Man, Molly Weasley can be a bit overbearing. No wonder Ron and his brothers have that protective streak for Ginny. Hopefully for them this year is peaceful enough for them, so their parents do not have to worry too much about their children." Harry leaned back in his seat and sighed. "The only one to worry about is me, if what we know about Sirius is true and he is after me." Harry's tone was uncertain as he was still unsure of the facts that he learned from the Daily Prophet.
Just before Daphne could tell him that he should not worry himself, the door to their compartment opened and Susan came in with Hannah and Neville. They dropped this conversation and began with the one they had before they discussed the whole Sirius Black situation and began to speak about their chosen electives they had chosen.
Neville was mostly interested in Divination, as it was something that he could use in his herbology. Harry looked at his friend in disbelief, Neville hastened to explain. "It is a bit more detailed about the constellation of the stars than astronomy is for their meaning. As some herbs grow faster when planted on a very specific day, I find it interesting if it really has such a great effect as I had read until now. Oh and Harry, Gran told me to tell you that you would be invited to my next birthday party next year. As my birthday is just before yours, we could combine them for a whole weekend." Harry thanked Neville but told him that he had to check if it would be possible, as he was already invited over the next summer.
"Auntie Catherine wants to visit some friends and brag with me on how well behaved I am. It was planned for this year, but her relatives told us in the beginning of the summer that something had come between our plans, and we moved them to the next summer. And seeing another country would be nice for a change, not that Britain is not nice to live in. And as for my electives, Care of Magical Creatures is the most interesting to me. I wonder how many creatures are mislabeled as dangerous." His friends agreed with him, as some creatures were dangerous but could be kept as a pet.
Hannah was also interested in Divination and hoped that Hufflepuff would share this class with Gryffindor, it was then when the others noticed that they sat even closer than last year. Harry was sure to assume that their relationship after the betrothal contract developed nicely.
Something flashed in his mind where he saw himself in a black suit and a woman in front of him in a white dress, but he shook his head as he thought that it was strange to think about this in his age.
They were visited by their friends during the wait until the train would depart, and Daphne introduced her sister Astoria who was looking for her friends that would also start their first year in Hogwarts.
Harry had noticed that Astoria was looking at him in awe, and wondered if she had read the books he was mentioned in. But her question caught almost everyone off guard, as it was directed at Daphne.
"Daphne, he really looks good and strong. Why did you not bring him to visit our home so our parents could ask him all the questions they wanted to ask him?" Astoria asked pointedly.
Daphne was blushing and pushing her sister out the compartment so she could search for her friends, with Tracey right behind Astoria to protect her. Tracey wasn't helping Daphne's mood by giggling at her friend's reaction to her sister's pointed question.
Daphne apologized for the small incident, but Harry just shrugged it off and was glad that her bond with her sister was so strong. But he did wonder what her parents wanted to ask him that made Daphne so flustered when her younger sister brought it up.
Ron and Ginny soon found them in their compartment and asked if they could sit with them. Harry looked questioningly at the others and then nodded, as he did not see any negative reaction to this question. Harry could not think why he assumed that something like this could happen, but then he noticed that Ron was looking at Daphne with well-hidden malice. It was only noticeable when you knew him well enough to notice all the details in his body language, like that he never looked at Daphne and tried to talk with Neville and Hermione only showed that Ron only cared for his housemates. Harry was growing frustrated from Ron's behavior , but he would stay silent until Ron stepped out of line.
Ginny on the other hand asked if she could look for Luna and invite her to this compartment too, but just as she was about to step out, the young blond-haired witch looked through the open door with her trunk behind her. "It is nice to see you all again. How was your summer?" The nature of how she asked this question only showed that she knew where to find them on the train.
Harry wondered if her ability had gotten better, so he made a mental note to tell Luna to visit Triss during the year to see if that was the case. He knew that Triss was once again the assistant teacher for Defense Against the Dark Arts, something about having more free time that way if the teacher was capable.
Soon the train left the station, and with all the students waving goodbyes to their families, Harry wondered why Yen stayed behind in Kear Morhen after she had created the portal. She also looked worried about something, but Harry could not guess what caused it. He was as well prepared as he could get for what could happen in the future.
Hermione stood back up and tried to grab the basket from the rack above her head where Crookshanks was in. But as she was just a bit too short, Harry helped her and held it so the small door looked at Hermione. After she had taken out her cat and placed him on her lap, Harry placed the basket back on the rack so it would be out of the way. Just as Crookshanks left the basket, Ron looked at it in fear and grasped the pocket on his chest. "Keep it away, Scabbers is in my pocket. He looks really ill since we were in Egypt and I do not want him to have more stress with that cat in the same compartment."
As he finished this sentence, Harry noticed that Crookshanks was looking at the pocket in question with a curious gaze as Scabbers shivered inside it.
Hermione took Crookshanks into her arms to stroke him and make sure that he would not attack Scabbers in case the rat looked out Ron's pocket.
Harry noticed his medallion vibrating again, after it did not the whole summer until today. Over the summer Geralt taught him how to channel his mind through it to see what caused it to vibrate, Harry used his Witcher senses to see where the magical signature was coming from. Just as he saw that some magical signature came out from Ron's chest pocket, something was beginning to sound strange out of Harry's trunk. Taking his concentration off Scabbers, Harry stood up from the bench and opened his trunk to take out the sneakoscope. It was spinning fast and emitting a small whistle until Harry found the switch to shut it off. "Strange, I do not remember to have it left on?"
Ron looked at the device, grinning as he recognized it as his present that he had sent to Harry. "Well, it may be a bit cheap, as Bill told us that the shop I got it from sells many touristy things. It may be malfunctioning." He patted the pocket where Scabbers was still shivering.
Harry placed the sneakoscope back inside his trunk again and turned around. "I had it checked in Diagon Alley, according to the clerk it is a higher quality as they would have expected coming from such a shop you just described. It should work flawlessly, but I think I had forgotten to turn it off again. But the question is, why did it go off in the first place?"
Just in that moment, the door to their compartment opened again and Malfoy with his two bodyguards stood in the doorframe and sneered at them. "Ah, there could be a reason." Harry's dry tone had his friends laugh quietly.
Malfoy looked into the expanded compartment now with a raised eyebrow as he saw those lowlife laugh at a joke he did not get. "Laugh as long as you can, Potter. After all, as soon Black gets his hands on you, I guess your life will be cut short. Or do you think you can beat a wizard that has escaped Azkaban?" Malfoy noticed the glare Potter sent his way and Malfoy had to fight a shudder that was coursing through his body. Something in Potter's stare was telling him that he just should shut up and go away. But he decided to not listen to that feeling and turned his head to Greengrass. "Ah, Greengrass, still with the loser squad I see. You really should think about who deserves your loyalty, as a true wizard could also protect your sister who comes for the first time to Hogwarts." Before Malfoy could talk more, his speech was cut off with a sliding door being closed in front of his face.
Harry growled as he walked back to his seat and let himself fall on it. Daphne thanked him with a small smile before she let her own anger out. "Honestly, how does Malfoy even come up with such stupid idea that I could fall for such an obviously empty threat? I mean, what could he do when Chief Wulf and Professor Dumbledore are in this school to watch out for something like that?" Daphne rolled her eyes at Malfoy's weak attempt at intimidation. "Honestly, I am beginning to wonder how he was sorted into Slytherin and not another house. Maybe it was the only thing left after every other house did not fit him in any way. I mean he is dumber than an arrogant Gryffindor, no offense. But to be honest, someone like McLaggen can only cast a spell if he is told how to do it." Daphne looked apologetically to Harry, Hermione and Neville. She didn't look at Ron because she considered him amongst the "arrogant Gryffidndor'' group.
Ron did not take kindly to being called dumb arrogant Gryffindor and crossed his arms in front of his chest while he turned towards the window to look out of it and distract himself. Harry could hear him mumbling about slimy snakes, while Hermione just shook her head and told Daphne that she did not mind that metaphor. "And yes, to be honest, how someone like McLaggen passes the end of year exams every year puzzles me sometimes, but then I see Crabbe and Goyle passing them too. So, there is that." That caused the others to laugh, even Ron had to suppress a smile at that as he was still doing like he was brooding.
A few hours passed with nice small talk in the compartment and the old witch coming through with the snack trolley. Harry and his friends also enjoyed a few cauldron cakes with pumpkin juice while the train moved through the countryside at a steady pace. Harry looked out the window and watched the sun setting fast beyond the horizon and giving way to the darkening sky.
Something caught his eye, as in his glasses Callie highlighted a small red circle with the word threat around it.
The train suddenly slowed down, so Ron asked if they were already in Hogsmeade. But a small glance at Hermione's watch only told them that they were much too early if that would be the case. "Hey, I am not complaining, I am starving and could go with the feast right now."
"You just had more cauldron cakes than the rest of us Ron. Honestly, where did you put all that food?" Ginny raised her eyebrow, finally voicing what the other girls were wondering since they knew the red-headed boy sitting with them.
Suddenly the lights went out, the wondrous mood changed to a scared one. Harry was not deterred by the darkness but he could feel the shift and put his hand into his pocket where he had his blade stored and walked to the door to look outside what was going on. He was not the only one, as he could hear across the whole carriage doors opening and other students asking what was wrong.
While Harry was looking out the door, Callie was sending a priority report to Cortana that the train has been stopped and is now dark. Something has been reported seen outside but unknown. Callie knows Harry can handle himself but she also would feel better knowing what to do to help if this situation got worse.
Just as Harry was about to close the door again, he felt a coldness coming up that he only felt during winter where he had to do some survival training. His breath was becoming a mist in front of his face and Harry looked around again. What he saw froze him in his place, as a tall, hooded figure came floating down the corridor of the carriage, being marked as a threat by his glasses.
Inside Harry's mind Callie was also frozen in shock. She had read Cortana's report of her and John first meeting Dementors the night they met Dumbledore, McGonagall and Hagrid. But Cortana and John's report did not include a physical description of these…creatures. Callie warned Harry to be wary about them. "Harry! That's a Dementor! Do NOT let it grab you or any student!" Once Callie warned her partner she sent another priority report to Cortana that Dementors are on the train.
Harry had to fight the cold, but something was also distracting him as he heard someone scream far away, but he had to protect his friends now. He closed the door behind him and closed it from the outside, so the Dementor could not enter the compartment without going through him first.
After Callie had assured him that the other compartments were also closed, he addressed the Dementor in front of him. "I would suggest you turn around and leave now." Harry could not say from where his confident voice came from, as the voice in his mind he had heard before became louder while he pulled his blade out and switched it to its glaive form, so he could keep his distance.
The Dementor turned its head towards Harry, letting him think that it was looking at him with curiosity because Harry was still standing. The coldness was becoming almost unbearable for Harry, but he still stood his ground as the Dementor floated closer to Harry.
It was the signal for Harry that he had to attack, he just hoped that no one would look out the doors' window, as he was sure this coldness would affect everyone on this carriage as it even affected him and sapped him of his strength. But he still had enough to power through and asked Callie if she could stimulate his brain to produce more adrenaline so he could fight forward. She was already ahead of him as his legs moved and his arms lifted his glaive to thrust it into the Dementor in front of him.
The Dementor was not afraid of the boy, but it still pulled its hand from under its hood and reached to grab the boy in front of him. He was not the target they were tasked to find, but he was in its way and the Dementor decided it would act accordingly. Just as it wanted to use its ability to make the boy unconscious, it felt something piercing its skin and something burning from where it was wounded.
Hearing it scream as he sank his blade into the body of the Dementor, its body began to burst into flames and it turned to ashes before him.. Harry did not know if it was the silver or the basilisk venom that killed the Dementor, but the screaming in his head suddenly stopped and he could make out a voice in it before it faded. "Not Harry, take me but let him live."
Harry shook his head, while Callie suddenly screamed over the other voice that more of these monsters were incoming. The coldness became too much for Harry as he slumped down on one knee, his blade clattering on the ground. Looking back up with a blurring sight he just saw how the monster he killed was just becoming a small pile of ash, as a bright light came through the corridor and made the coldness vanish. Harry took in a deep breath, as he grabbed his blade and shifted it back to its folded switchblade so he could hide it again in his pocket. He felt his strength returning as the light became brighter and he noted to himself that he should not fight so many at once without more training. The light soon vanished down the corridor and Harry turned back to the compartment that he had closed before. But before he opened the door, he turned to the pile of ash and could not fight the impulse to crack a joke. "Did not know that their robes are flammable. Maybe we could tell the others to use some matchsticks?"
"Really Harry? That was a bad joke even for your standards." Callie looked at him through his glasses with an unbelievable look.
"Wait, do I have standards for jokes?
Inside Dumbledore's office the aged headmaster was pacing and thinking how to approach a very dangerous situation. When Cortana forwarded him the report from Callie that the Hogwarts' Express was stopped he was worried. Very few things had the authority and/or ability to do such a feat without his knowledge. But the news that Dementors were present on the train? Unthinkable! Who in their right mind would allow such dangerous creatures near school children.
Yes, Professor Lupin was onboard, but could he act in time to ward them off? Worse, was having Harry to deal with the Dementor on his own. Admittedly Dumbledore did not question the young Witcher's abilities but he is still a young Witcher and he's not fully prepared for Dementors. Shaking his head he glanced at the clock over his fireplace. "Dammit it hell! Why can't I act? If I send word to the Ministry I would have to explain how I knew Dementors were on the train before the train has arrived in Hogsmeade." Dumbledore sighed in resignation. "But mark my words, Cornelius, you will rue the day sending those vile creatures to my school." Dumbledore promised the absent Minister.
Dumbledore stopped his pacing when he listened to Cortana's latest report forwarded to her from Callie. His eyebrows show up as he listens to how Harry confronted a Dementor and stabbed it with his blade. The fact that basilisk venom was so potent it literally burned the Dementor to ash. Dumbledore frowned as he thought of the implications of this new discovery. 'Do you know if anyone saw him kill the Dementor? It's very important that he was not seen.' Cortana assured him that the windows were too frosted over and no one was in the corridor when Harry confronted the Dementor. Dumbledore sighed in relief. He was worried about reprisals from the Ministry. Not from Amelia, of course but he wouldn't put it past Fudge to try to make a move against Harry. With no witnesses and no evidence to connect Harry to the pile of ash, the Ministry had no case.
"Harry, are you alright? Did you have something to do with this light that was going through the corridor?" Harry was almost bombarded instantly by Hermione with questions, but he could calm her down enough to explain that he did not know what that light was.
Soon afterwards an adult male was walking into the compartment, his face betraying some lingering anger at what happened before and handing over some chocolate to the students. "Eat this, it helps you to feel better. I already wrote a letter to the headmaster, so he is informed about this incident. By the way, do you know who burned something up outside? There was a small pile of ash." After receiving negative answers to this question, he nodded and told them to stay put until they were in Hogwarts.
Before the adult wizard could close the door, Hermione asked him what it was that caused this issue with the train. The man sighted, explaining that the Dementors seemed to find it necessary to inspect the train as it drove to Hogsmeade.
Hermione, Daphne and Susan glanced at Harry with a subtle look, as they could guess what this pile of ash outside was now. Harry had a very small sheen of sweat on him, something only Susan could see as she had learned to look for such things. And with the known fact, at least by them and the headmaster, that Harry was a Witcher only let one conclusion for it. Namely that Harry had somehow killed a Dementor. Daphne and Susan glanced at each other realizing what that conclusion meant. The only known way to ward Dementors off was the Patronus charm, until now.
After the man had left the compartment, Harry leaned back on his seat and breathed in deeply again. 'Callie, was that really a Dementor? I never saw them for real before.' Harry looked at the small projection in his glasses, feeling relaxed now to speak in his mind with someone who was outside with him.
Callie nodded at this question, which was an answer on it itself. "Yes, according to the reports from the time when John and Cortana were the only ones from the UNSC on this world, they were once attacked by these creatures and they could hold them back, but not beat them. The only known way until now was the Patronus-charm. But seeing that either your blade or the basilisk's venom can also kill them is a good sign for John and the others and I took liberty to send a report tol them already. I am sure that our friends in orbit are now looking into it." Callie was relaxed telling Harry where the Infinity was located, as he had received clearance to visit the giant spaceship behind the moon for last summer, but their plans were pushed back because something did not arrive with the last supply shipment.
The rest of the trip was uneventful in comparison, except that they had seen Malfoy running past their compartment followed by his two lumbering friends.
Later in the Great Hall, the students were preparing themselves to devour the feast that was traditional at the beginning of the school year. Ron was almost pounding his fist in his impatience for food when the headmaster walked up to his podium to address the students.
"To our new students, welcome! To our returning students, welcome back! Now, before we eat and let the meal cloud our attention, I have some important announcements to make. As you may have noticed during your journey on the Hogwarts' Express, Dementors are patrolling the borders to our school. The Ministry assured me that they would stay outside the borders and keep us safe. In the case you ask yourself from what, the Minister is adamant that the escapee, Sirius Black, will try and break into this school. As for the reason why, I do not have the liberty to tell you, but be assured that the staff also has placed many new safety measures to ensure your safety. Speaking of the staff, I am happy to announce two new additions to it. First, let me introduce the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Remus Lupin and he graciously agreed to my offer and took this post. He is very capable in teaching young students in all kinds of spells".
The man from the train stood up and politely bowed his head to the applause of the students.
Dumbledore smiled and continued. "And like last year, he will have Triss Merigold as an assistant to help him catch up to the things she had taught you after Mr. Lockhart was… well for a lack of better word, removed from his post." The students who witnessed Lockhart's duel laughed at the joke and clapped to have Triss still with them.
Dumbldore smiled and nodded towards Triss who was blushing at the attention. "As for the other change in the staff, so I must sadly announce that our Care of Magical Creatures teacher, Professor Kettleburn, has retired over the summer to enjoy his remaining limbs. His replacement is Rubeus Hagrid, who happily took this post beside his duties as the gamekeeper." Many in the Gryffindor and Hufflepuff table exploded in applause for Hagrid's promotion. Hagrid was blushing at the unexpected praise.
Dumbledore also applauded for his old friend and continued. "But as this is also his first year as a teacher, he will also have an assistant, who is an old friend of mine, Newt Scamander, and he will arrive tomorrow for the first class to help Professor Hagrid find his groove, as you young folk like to say."
At this announcement, the Great Hall erupted in cheers, especially at the Gryffindor table as they liked Hagrid the most.
Dumbledore smiled in amusement, he had not expected the students to welcome Newt in with Hagrid's classes but he won't look a gift horse in the mouth with happy faces.
"Now it is obvious who put that biting book on the list. Only Hagrid would have the gall to use such a book." Ron almost screamed, so Harry and Hermione could hear him over the ruckus cheer.
Meanwhile Callie was talking with Harry, telling him that she was wondering why Remus Lupin had a name that would not be amiss in the mythology of werewolves. "Honestly, I wonder how his parents came up with that name, even if Lupin would be a family name. Maybe Professor Lupin is really the best individual the headmaster could ask to fill the post. I will keep an eye on him though, maybe he really is a werewolf that hides in plain sight." Harry turned his head towards the staff table, noting everything about Professor Lupin, over his disheveled robes and tired look something was telling Harry that his partner was right about her assumption. Harry asked Callie to take note of the calendar for the next full moon, they'll know for sure then.
The feast was a nice gathering for the students, but Remus Lupin felt a bit out of place sitting here. Yes, he was glad to have received the invitation from the headmaster to teach the students, but him being what he was still felt as if he would endanger the ones he was tasked to protect. He also felt the eyes from Snape on him, but it was not as hateful as Remus would have thought it would be. It was a far cry to tell that he was forgiven for what had happened all those years ago, as they were in the same year here in Hogwarts, but maybe Snape saw no reason to be angry at him as it was not his fault to be bitten and having to hide once every month. Thankfully, Snape agreed to brew the Wolfsbane potion for him, so he would just turn into a wolf once a month and just could lay in his office. Looking to the other side he saw his assistant eating with a small smile on her lips.
Remus was surprised when she approached him together with the headmaster and directly asked him since when he was a werewolf. His first reaction was the one of panic, as he had assumed that she would think that he was with Greyback's pack, as this bad example was the most known werewolf in Great Britain. But after assuring him that she would not try to hurt him in any way he relaxed a bit and asked her what she wanted from him.
Flashback
Triss smiled at him after he had asked the red-haired woman in front of him from where she knew that he was a werewolf. "You do not have to be afraid Mr. Lupin, nothing will happen to you. The reason why I already know that you are a werewolf is indeed because Professor Dumbledore told me, but he also had asked me to do something. But before I tell you more, I need to see if you are worthy of receiving this gift."
Flashback end
He still wondered what this gift would be, but for now he would concentrate on doing his job to the satisfaction of the headmaster and the students, trying to be the best teacher they had for a long time.
The next day, Professor Dumbledore sat in his chair and enjoyed his breakfast and looked at the students to see how they behaved after his announcements the evening before, making sure that the students in his care would understand that they should not provoke the Dementors in any shape or form, but after he had read the letter from Remus he was worried about a special section in that note. His worries soon were proven as, thanks to his new glasses from Doctor Halsey, Dumbledore together with John and he was sure Harry was informed from Cortana that someone with the company of some Aurors were coming up to the castle. "And according to my facial recognition software it is Dolores Umbridge." Cortana's grim voice had Dumbledore internally grimacing, oh he despised that woman.
Dumbledore sighed wearily. 'What a wonderful way to start the day.' Dumbledore thought sarcastically.
