Hello everyone and welcome back!
A/N: Yeah, I know. A Christmas chapter in August is weird but kind of necessary...kind of Hahaha. This chapter will be RATED M, because, at the end of the chapter, there is my somewhat poor attempt to write some romance. Hope is not horrible, and you manage to enjoy some of the family fluff though. Let me know your thoughts on this chapter, reviews and suggestions are very welcome and appreciated.
Thank you for all the support you have been giving me. I wouldn't be able to do these without you guys!

Megan's POV
12/23/2010
"Megan, wake up" I faintly heard someone calling me "Come on, wake up kiddo!" this time the voice came followed by a soft shake to my shoulder. I grunted and extended my arm, taking my phone to see what time it was, the phone screen lit up, too bright for my eyes. "It's 8 am. Come on! We need to hurry!" this time I distinguished the voice, it was Jane, pulling me up.
I flopped back to the bed covering my head with the covers "Why" I pouted, not wanting to be taken away from the warmth of my bed.
"Meet me downstairs in 5" she said pulling the covers from my face and kissing my temple, leaving the room immediately after.
I grunted and rubbed my eyes and reluctantly stood up from the bed. I quickly completed my morning routine and got dressed. I walked downstairs, still more asleep than awake, though I could smell that someone was baking, and by smell, I knew it was gingerbread cookies or some sort of Christmas cookie. "Can I ask why you woke me up at 8 am?" I said coming to the kitchen, still trying to rub the sleep off my eyes.
Maura softly laughed while she took a tray of cookies out of the oven "Good morning, Sweetie" she greeted me.
"I need some help to get our Christmas tree!" Jane beamed.
"And we couldn't do that later on because…" I questioned, sitting on one of the kitchen stools, resting my chin in my hands, and leaning against the island with my elbows.
Jane finished her coffee and placed the empty cup in the sink "Because it's going to be a long day and we need to be ready… Now, chop chop kid!" Jane said drying her hands on the kitchen towel and taking a handful of warm gingerbread cookies from the tray.
I groaned and stood up starting to walk towards the car "Take some cookies with you!" Maura, called from the kitchen.
I turned and grabbed a handful as well "Thanks! Later alligator!" I say, giving her a kiss on the cheek and running outside. I jumped in the car and fasted my seatbelt "I still think it is too early to pick out a Christmas tree" I said biting into one of the cookies.
"Oh, come on! Don't complain too much. I made you a thermos of coffee. My treat" She smiled, handing me the warm bottle.
"You're forgiven" I said taking the thermos and sipping from it. "Hey, that's my gingerbread man!" I protested as she took one of the cookies from my hand while I was distracted sipping on the coffee.
She chuckled as bit into the head of the gingerbread man "Sharing is caring, sweetheart" she then said as I rolled my eyes. "Don't roll your eyes at your mother!" she playfully slapped my shoulder.
"Ouch!" I exclaimed. She laughed and started the SUV, driving towards the Christmas tree farm.
We arrived and we roam around the place for a while looking at the remaining trees. Contrary to my belief, it wasn't early at all, there were already many people walking around the farm looking for a tree, even though it was early, the selection was already limited. I passed around a few that I showed Jane, but any of them convinced any of us, they were either too branchy, too small or with too little foliage. "What do you think?" Jane then asked, pulling me from my inattentive train of thought. I turned around and looked at her, she was pointing to a tree, that was at least 60cm taller than her, very bushy and not too branchy.
"Beautiful, but isn't it a little too big?" I said, thinking about how we were going to take such a big tree home.
She waved my words "Nonsense, this is the one!" she said. We then looked for the sells-person to pay for it and figure out how to take it home. The man helped us to put the tree on the roof of the SUV, and we tie it up with some bungee cords as tight as we could.
I was hooking the last bungee cord sitting on the car's lowered window ledge of the co-pilot seat, when Jane called me "Smile kid, let's take a picture" She said holding her phone and trying to take a selfie. "Awesome…Now, let's hit the road. I'm starving!" she then exclaimed, getting inside the car.
I laughed and lowered myself to the seat "Yeah, said the woman that ate my gingerbread cookie" I joked, crossing my arms, and raising one eyebrow.
"You need to learn forgiveness, sweetheart" She laughed, and I stuck my tongue out at her, earning another playful slap on my shoulder.
I grabbed my shoulder "Ouch" I exclaimed "And someone should let go of all that aggressiveness" I then said, pretending to be hurt.
Again, she laughed and kissed my temple "I love you, sweetheart" she said.
I smiled "I love you too" I softly replied. I could see a smile forming on her face. We then started the drive home through the snowy roads of Boston. A comfortable silence fell upon us, only the soft Christmas carols from the radio could be heard. I leaned my head against the window. I started thinking about Christmas, and how much things have changed in a year. It was difficult to wrap my head around all the changes. Last year at this time I was dreading the holidays. It felt pointless to think about it as a cheery and happy time, and the realisation of my parents and sister's death made it all the more excruciating. It was not sadness or pain; it was like a void inside you that makes you numb. It was simply emptiness inside.
Now, same time of the year, but one year apart, it was this whole new range of feelings. Everything felt natural, like things were supposed to be like this. have come to love these people and the fact that they wanted me to be part of their family surely made me feel loved and grateful. I have started to open up a tiny bit, at least once, about when my parents and sister died. It felt like opening the wound I thought I had closed by ignoring the fact of their death. but it was never closed, it was open and bleeding all the time. But that night I felt like I closed a little, it stopped hurting for a while. I have come to terms with their love and affection. It helped. They helped, all of them helped.
Without even noticing, we arrived home at around 10:30 am, Frankie was already there waiting for us, I assumed to help us put the tree inside the house and in its base, between the tree of put the tree in its place in no time. We left it there and went to the kitchen where Maura prepared breakfast or more of a brunch. And right there in the kitchen island, everyone laughing and chatting, it all felt right.
Maura's POV
The five of us were finally decorating the tree "Ok, this is the last box…I think" Jane said, leaving yet another box in the living room "Now, remind me why we keep so many ornaments, we don't even have a use for," She said, shaking the dust off her hands.
"Come on, all these are special" I pointed out, carefully taking some rather old little porcelain angels as I dusted them off a little.
"Maura, we haven't put those up in the trees in ages" she exclaimed, taking a box with baubles, and passing them to Lily who started hanging them on the lower branches.
I put the angels carefully back in the box "I know," I said, "Though they still hold a beautiful meaning" I explained "These were the first ornaments we put up on our first tree when we moved together." I noticed Jane smiling sweetly and walking towards me.
She then kissed me, and as expected, I reciprocated the kiss "I know" she said and kissed me.
"Gross!" We heard Lucas exclaim as we laughed.
"This is definitely not gross, Luc," I said smiling "It means Mommy and Mama love each other"
"Still…gross," she said, pretending to gag. At the same time, Megan laughed as she hung more baubles on the tree.
I then looked at Jane, we had a couple of things to give Megan to officially finish the tree. Jane opened one of the boxes and took some mini-portraits out. Some of them had individual pictures of each member of the family, including Angela, Frankie, Tommy and TJ. And some others had group pictures of past Christmas. Jane looked at me, and I simply smiled and nodded.
"Megan" Jane called the girl, who hung a bauble she had in her hand and turned around to face Jane "Can you please, hang these a little above the middle, please?" She said, passing the little portraits to the girl, who nodded and diligently started hanging them. She stopped and looked a little more thoroughly at one of them, it was a photo we took at Disney World, on Lily's birthday down in Florida. She smiled a small smile but didn't mention anything.
She kept on hanging the rest of the photos until the last portrait "When did you take this picture?" she curiously asked, fumbling with the portrait in her hands, which contained a picture of her on the beach, sitting on the sand at dusk, while she was not aware we were taking a picture.
"Hope you like it," I said, handing 2 little boxes to each kid. And giving another one to Jane.
Megan nodded "Yeah. It's cool," she said and hung it on the tree next to Lily's and Lucas' pictures. I am not sure if it was purely there as it was the first spot she saw to place it, but I was sure it was there for a reason, there were the pictures of our children, just under Jane's and mine. A smile spread across my face. I was not sure if Jane had noted it as she was helping the kids to hang their ornaments.
I hung mine and then Jane went to the box and pulled a white box, with a red and gold ribbon on the top and handed it to the teen "This is for you" she said as the girl took the box in her hands.
"We thought of putting it under the tree, but it seemed a little bit more logical for you to have it now" I explain, carefully so I wouldn't give anything away.
She looked confused and even raised an eyebrow. She took the box and carefully untied the ribbon; she lifted the lid and took the snowglobe out of the box. She intently looked at it and shook it a little watching the snow falling onto the Christmassy scenery with her name engraved on the snow at the base of the globe. Similar to the ones we all had.
She then hung it on one of the branches and turned around, her face showed a mix of surprise and gratitude, and her eyes were glistening "Thank you, it's lovely" she softly said.
Jane then released her hand from mine and walked closer to the girl "Well, we all have one in the family, it's only fair for you to have one, too" she said tucking a loose strain of hair behind her eyes.
"We choose it!" Lily excitedly chimed in. Making us all laugh.
Megan smiled and walked towards both kids "Then, I love it even more" she said, crouching down and hugging Lily, she then stood up and sideways hugged Lucas, kissing the top of his head.
Jane came back to my side and kissed me again "I…love…you" she said in between kisses.
"I love you, too. Honey" I said leaning against her, while we watch our three children finish decorating the tree.
This was happiness.
General POV.
12/24/2010
"Ma, it's snowing!" Lucas happily exclaimed looking through the glass door that overlooked the backyard "Let's do a snowball fight!" He then suggested.
"Can we go out, Auntie Jane?" TJ excitedly asked his aunt. Jane smiled and allowed them to go, not without telling them to get their jackets and bennies first.
"Can I go to?" Lily then asked.
Lucas turned around "Nah, you're too small Lily" he said as he was getting out the door.
"And girls don't know how to throw snowballs" TJ then laughed. Jane was just about to reprimand them when she saw Megan standing up from her chairs, walking towards them.
Tommy was as well about to say something to the kids when Jane stopped him "Just watched" she said, smiling mischievously, knowing what her daughter was going to do.
"Heck no," She said taking her jacket and Lily's "It's you two against us!" She said and looked at the two boys who looked at each other perplexed. Lucas knew Megan, he knew she would make them regret their choice of words. "What? you two scared of girls now?" she taunted them "Let's go have some fun" she said, smiling mischievously and looking at Jane and Tommy.
"They are gonna regret that, don't they?" He laughed walking with Jane and taking some plates from the table to take them to the kitchen.
Jane chuckled "Oh! they don't know what it's coming to them" She said, taking some dirty dishes from the table and taking them to the kitchen.
Both started to clean up a little while the rest chatted at the dining table. Maura and Angela had managed to make a huge Christmas dinner and Lydia had managed to make 3 different desserts in just a few hours. So, they decided to be the ones doing the clean-up.
"So, Janie. How come a teenager?" He curiously asked.
Jane softly laughed "Well, that wasn't planned" she said while she started to load the dishwasher. He looked at her, waiting for her to continue while she threw away some leftovers and rubbish in the bin.
"Neither was TJ, but we all love him" He joked, making his sister laugh a little too loud.
"Moron" She grinned at him "Well, I was clumsy and threw coffee at the social worker's file, some pictures got stained and some fell, her picture was on the floor, and I took it… We just felt like we had to meet her… call it a hunch… and well, here we are" She briefly explained, smiling throughout her recalling of the memory.
He could see the fluttering smile his sister had while she told him the story and was about to ask her something else when Muara came into the kitchen "Would you care to explain why our 16-year-old daughter is annihilating our son and nephew with snowballs, meanwhile our 6-year-old is thoroughly enjoying it?" she questioned the siblings.
Tommy and Jane burst out laughing "Lucas and TJ wanted to go out and play with the snow and Lily asked if she could play too" Tommy started saying through his fit of laughter, "They said she couldn't play because she is small, and girls don't know how to throw snowballs" He managed to explain.
"Megan heard them and well, she's teaching them how a girl throws snowballs," Jane said, still talking through her laughter.
Maura chuckled "Well, then that should teach them a lesson," She said, approaching the dishwasher and loading two plates she brought from the table. Maura filled a glass with some more white wine and another one for Lydia and exited the kitchen.
"So, daughter?" Tommy asked quizzically, referring to the adjective Maura used to refer to the teenager.
Jane turned around, she was drying her hands on a tea towel "Only normal when someone is your daughter" she said sarcastically "We are adopting her" she then revealed to her brother, who up to that moment didn't know that little detail.
His green eyes open widely in surprise "Adopting!" He exclaimed "That awesome, Janie!" He said approaching his sister and engulfing her in a hug "What didn't you tell me before?" He then asked letting go of Jane.
"I wanted to tell you in person, and we only asked her a few days ago" she excused herself "You have no idea how hard was to keep Ma's mouth shut" Jane joked.
Tommy laughed "Oh! I believe she was ecstatic with the news. You know how much she wants grandchildren… even more grandchildren" He bantered moving to the sink to wash his hands.
"Yeah, I know" Jane huffed.
"Well, I'm really happy for you and Maura. She is a great kid and she's lucky to have you guys" Tommy then said, drying his hands with the towel Jane had.
Jane sweetly smiled "Nah, we're the lucky ones" Jane heartfeltly said. His brother smiled at his sister's words.
Tommy leaned against the kitchen counter, next to Jane "Man! I have a teenage niece… God, that makes me feel so old" He chuckled, covering his face with his hands, eliciting the same reaction from his sister.
"Tell me about it," Jane said, moving to prepare some coffee and get the desserts out and get ready to give away the family gifts and get the kids to bed for Santa come.
"Do I need to scare away any boys?" He asked, putting on a serious face and tone of voice.
Jane smiled "Not yet, but I'll keep you posted" She laughed, taking some more things out of the cupboards to serve dessert. They chatted in the kitchen for a little while more until they heard the glass door sliding, and the siblings and cousin came into the house. Megan and Lily little came behind them, high-fiving each other triumphantly.
Lucas and TJ were trembling from the cold, their clothes and bennies were covered in snow. They left their snow-covered clothes on the porch "So, I can see you had fun kids" Tommy said coming out of the kitchen, making fun a little of the two young boys "That will teach you two" He continued "Don't underestimate girls, boys. They can crush us" Tommy told them laughing at the two boys that reluctantly accepted their defeat.
"And that's how girls throw a snowball" Megan said walking towards the kitchen. The three kids walked to the living room where Angela, Maura and Lydia were. They jumped on the sofa and covered themselves with some blankets while the three adults happily chatted.
Megan walked to the kitchen finding Jane preparing some things "Need help?" The girl asked Jane, approaching the fridge to drink some water "Oh! I want some coffee, too" She said after sipping on her water.
Jane puffed "Yeah, what I need is a teenager hyped on caffeine" she joked.
"Decaff?" She smiled, pouting at the older women.
"Only because is Christmas" Jane smiled, approaching the coffee machine to prepare a batch of Decaff coffee.
"Thank you, Jane" The girl helps her taking out the cups for the coffee and getting the cutlery and dishes for dessert.
Once they had everything ready, they went to the living room and served dessert. Frankie arrived from his shift just in time for it. The night elapsed beautifully, there was a sense of normalcy in the ambience as if things had been this way from the beginning. The laughter and the cheerfulness filled every room of the house. Not long after the three smaller kids started to yawn and be a little lethargic, this announcing the end of the evening. The adults help to put everything in order and afterwards, they left, there was still another Rizzoli family tradition awaiting for them the day after, to keep celebrating Christmas day.
"Hey, I..." Megan trailed off "I just wanted to say thank you... for everything" The girl managed to say, unsure of how to put her feelings into words.
Jane turned around, leaving what she was doing "You're welcome, sweetheart. But you don't have to thank us for anything, we are your moms. That is our job" Jane replied sincerely, cupping the girl's cheeks in her hands.
"I do. it's been a long time since that Christmas felt like Christmas" she explained "Anyways, good night" she said, giving Jane a quick hug and disappearing through the kitchen door, not giving the brunette time to reply and ask anything else. she inhaled deeply and kept on putting everything in order.
Shortly Jane was fishing and putting away a few things in the kitchen when Maura approached her from behind "Love, can you turn around please?" Muara said, holding a big white box with a big red bow in her hands.
The brunette turned around and her eyes opened wide "Another gift? you shouldn't have, baby" She said surprised, she wiped her hands and took the box from Maura's hands.
"Well, is technically for the both of us," Maura said, this time with a mischievous look on her face.
Jane raised an eyebrow and curiously untied the bow and opened the box, finding a red and gold chemise and matching panties. She blushed for a second but now understood the look in her lover's eyes. She took her hands both walked upstairs. They entered their room and Jane briefly kissed Maura's lips, before continuing to place kisses down the jawline and neck of the doctor. The blonde hummed at the feeling of the brunette's lips against her earlobe, while she massages the back of Jane's neck and pushed apart her unruly curls.
When Jane's kisses moved away from her neck and when a little down, further past her shoulder blade, the blonde quickly removed her blouse and started to unbutton the brunette's one. The now shirtless women sat on the bed and this time Maura was the one taking the initiative, starting to passionately kiss the detective. Jane gasped at the feel of Maura's mouth nibbling her ears and swiftly undoing her brazier at the same time, throwing it somewhere on the floor of the room. Jane did the same and skilfully removed the brazier and skirt Maura was wearing, the blonde pushed Jane laying both now on the bed, and Maura kept on roaming Jane's body, kissing every single each of her body.
The feeling of the blonde's lips against the sensitive skin of her abdomen made her tighten her grip on Maura's, scratching her back, feeling herself becoming more aroused with each kiss and the wetness between her legs, she pulled the blond against her and started to softly caress her breast, while she kept kissing her. Maura guided the brunette's hands a little further, Jane understood the assignment and she could feel the moisture between Maura's legs as well. They broke the kiss and the sound of Maura's moans intensified at the feeling of Janes's hand in her groin. Jane then kissed her again to suffocate the sounds coming from Maura, trying to avoid waking anybody.
The blonde's attention was then taken back to Jane's hard nipples, she commenced to play with them to which the brunette heaved in pleasure. Then, Maura unbuttoned Jane's trousers and threw them away of her way, she did the same with the black laced panties she was wearing, leaving a clear path for the hands to freely roam around her thighs and groin area. The brunette's hips started to trust against the pace of Maura's hands against her folds, giving her a silent plea to accelerate her speed and thrust. The ectasis hit Jane rapidly and she had to clasp a hand to her mouth to about the loud moan that was threatening to escape her mouth during the climax of the moment. They remained still for a second, recovering their breath.
Jane then in a swift move, moved Maura under her and softly started to pepper the blonde's body with kisses, slowly making her way down between her legs, she kept her mouth motion, savouring every last inch of her sex, while her hands massage the blonde's perky breasts. Eliciting several pleasure howls they had to try and suppress but they failed, the pleasure and the passion were too much to hold back their moans and groans. Jane maintained her motion, exploring every fold and craze of her lover's wet groin. Maura couldn't hold back and gripped Jane from behind, scratching her back and trusting her hips against the brunette. The brunette let go of her breasts and hold the blonde's hips and pushed her tighter against her, holding her in place, adding another level of contact and enjoyment. She continued her expert moves and skilful tongue dance against the blonde until the blonde could not hold back herself and started to squirm against the brunette that was still buried in her tights, she felt a ray of electricity strike through her body, her legs shaky and wobbly.
The brunette crawled back next to Maura and placed her head against her bare chest, both panting and gasping for air. Both were euphoric and fulfilled. Maura lowered her head and rested against Jane's unruly mess of curls and gave her a last kiss atop her head, and embraced the brunette in her "Merry Christmas, my love" Maura said, closing her eyes.
"Merry Christmas indeed, sweetie" Jane replied, tightening her grip on the naked blond, and succumbing to a restful and delightful sleep.
