Description: After M. Bison's defeat and the demise of Shadaloo, time has passed. Ryu is still looking for his long answer it what it means to fight. Somewhere in the mountains of Japan; the Genbu Temple...

Chun-Li had been enjoying the quiet life ever since Shadaloo been conquered. Since then, she's been teaching kung-fu classes in her community back in China, and being a big sister and mother figure to the girl, Li-Fen whom with many of the other Street Fighter's help, she was able to rescue from Urien some years back.

Now, she had made her journey here in Japan. She had been wanting to visit another long time good friend who had still been following his path to true strength. That being Ryu. She never fully got the chance to thank him again for defeating Bison, and helping her and Li-Fen.

She was told by another friend, , that Ryu would usually be resided at the Genbu Temple. She managed to get some directions and lo and behold, she finally found it.

Chun-Li: Wow. This place is beautiful. I wish I could've buried you somewhere nice like this, Dad.

Chun-Li had wanted to get revenge on Bison for the death of her father, but seeing him dead was enough for her. As she walks down the pathway, it is there where she sees the temple with red Japanese structures. And there was a beautiful tree with pink blossoms on it, even scattered across the ground and water. And there is where she sees him. Sitting underneath the tree on a giant flat rock. Meditating with his hands grasped together making a circle as the middle of it glows blue.

Chun-Li: ...Hmm. Same as always.

He had his signature red headband, his hand wraps are replaced with brown gloves, his black belt now have white outlines and gained white wraps all over his stomach. He now wears brown wooden sandals as opposed being barefoot like in previous times. He also now gains a large single torn reddish brown tarp-like cloth on the left side which reaches through his right waist and the cloth itself was adorned with a large gold ring to keep themselves attached. The tarp-like cloth that he wears is actually a kasaya to make a near resemblance to the same gi worn by his master Gouken. It seems he's become a fully become a master in his own right. This is Ryu.

Chun-Li: Wow. He was handsome before, but that beard adds to it. And...I don't think I've ever seen him bare chest before.

Chun-Li quickly regains herself and walks over to the meditating Ryu. She gets closer and for a while says nothing. But then she goes to...only for him to speak suddenly.

Ryu: It's been a while. How are you, Chun-Li?

He smiles at the present company and that made her smile and blush in return which she hid from him.

Chun-Li: Ryu. It's good to see you. I've been good.

Ryu: And Li-Fen?

Chun-Li: Well. We both are. You're probably wondering why I'm here. I never got the chance to properly thank you for saving us. And destroying Bison.

Ryu: I really cannot take all the credit alone. It was a group effort that we all managed to stop him. I know how much you wanted to take him down. Just as Guile wanted to take him down for his friend, Charlie.

Chun-Li: Yeah. But...him being dead is all I'm glad for. Again...thank you.

Ryu nods and smiles.

Chun-Li: And to be fair, I'd be remiss if I didn't get the opportunity to see how stronger you've gotten. What do you say?

Chun-Li gets in her fighting pose which causes Ryu to smirk.

Ryu: I'd thought you'd never ask.

Ryu gets up, making his was down to the right side a few feet away from Chun, and tightens his headband.

Ryu: Let us begin.

Chun-Li: Let's go.

Ryu Vs. Chun-Li

Chun-Li is the first to make her move, crouching to her feet and then jumping into the air! Her bright blue gi glints in the sun as she proceeds to do a headstand, then rotate her hips into a spin! Chun-Li's Kaitenteki Kakukyakushu, the Spinning Bird Kick, to open up this spar. Ryu stands his ground to take the incoming attack, raising his hand to block the first kick! But Chun-Li's rotation has her other legs — outstretched in a split — coming at him as well. Ryu is forced to duck the second one, then backflip to gain some ground as he attempts to gain some ground. He then preps a counter in the form of charging a bright blue fireball in-between his hands...

Ryu: HADOKEN!

Ryu casts the brilliant blue ball of energy forward to catch Chun-Li mid-attack, but she catches the ground with her hands and sticks both hands out to conjure an orange ball of power with a blue aura!

Chun-Li: KIKOUKEN!

The Hadoken is upon her as Chun-Li fires the blast: they connect and explode in her face, forcing her to put her arm up to shield her face from the resulting dust!

Chun-Li (Thinking): I almost got hit! Such a quick reaction from him!

But how quick she sees for herself, as Ryu rushes from the cloud, sweeping the ground underneath her with a slide kick! Chun-Li backflips out of the way as Ryu follows, his hand now blazing with fire!

Ryu: SHORYUKEN!

Chun-Li gasps as Ryu rears up with a fearsome, energy-wreathed uppercut! Chun-Li barely avoids it, blasting the ground underneath her with a Kikouken to give her the propelling she needs to get out of the way! The strongest woman in the world lands about 5 feet away from Ryu, counting her blessings that her Kikouken gave her the escape she needed.

Chun-Li: Phew...!

The way Ryu moved is exactly how she remembered from their final battle against Shadaloo, and maybe even more. It was this measure of strength that defeated Bison for good and stopped the Black Moon scheme.

Ryu: Was I too forceful? I allowed you to have the opening attack, yet you retreated quite quickly.

Chun-Li shakes her head and smiles.

Chun-Li: No, that was amazing. You always surprise me the more we fight.

Ryu: I always find out something new from you whenever we get one-on-one time. But perhaps I say that about all my friends when I pit my skills against them.

Chun-Li: By now, your skills have no match. And I may be out of tricks.

Ryu: I doubt that. Show me your limits. I welcome the challenge.

Chun-Li lifts her leg into another fighting stance, prepping her next move.

Chun-Li: Alright... as long as you are honest with me about the power that destroyed Bison.

Ryu: Fair deal.

They both get into their fighting stances again. Ryu this time is the one to make the first move. Chun-Li rushes ahead as well, and both deliver Drive Impact attacks. Ryu with a hard driving fist, and Chun with a swift and graceful kick! The attacks both are powerful that it sends them both a few feet from each other. Chun though rushes again and goes to deliver her well known famous rapid speed kicks, Ryu parries each one of them, but is swept by Chun. He gets back up quickly. Chun-Li then sees Ryu ready to perform his other signature move.

Ryu: TATSUMAKI SENPUKAYAKU!

Ryu performs a spinning airplane kick towards Chun and she ducks the attack, surprised and intrigued by the move.

Chun-Li: Whoa...

Chun though takes advantage and rushes at Ryu, but he suspected this and grabs at her arm and throws her over his shoulder, unto the ground. Ryu then tries to grab at her again, but Chun grabs his head between her ankles and slams him down in return.

Ryu: Not bad.

Chun-Li: Not bad yourself.

They then rush again, and get into close range combat, looking for strikes and kicks to connect, but both parry all of their oncoming attacks. Chun-Li then with great ability and agility leaps at Ryu, going behind him! But, again, Ryu grabs at her this time by her arms.

Ryu: Not good enough!

Ryu gives her a monkey flip, but Chun-Li lands on her feet, rushes at him, elbows his sternum and flips him over her.

Chun-Li (Smirking): Was that better?

Ryu kips up and gets into his stance again. Then much to Chun's shock, Ryu starts charging electricity around himself, conjuring a Denjin Charge!

Chun-Li: What...!?

Ryu then fires off multiple Hadokens at Chun, but with more power amplified into them thanks to the Denjin Charge. Chun dodges the first one moving left, the second one she did a split as it went over her, the third she does a front flip over, and the fourth one she lets comes close to her, only to dodge Matrix style by moving her body to the right in the nick of time.

Regaining herself, Chun-Li takes a deep breath after barely evading those Hadokens. Once again, she is surprised by Ryu's progress. The Denjin Charge allows Ryu to tap into the Power of Nothingness, boosting his energy in every way. If one of those had hit her, she might've been rendered unable to battle further.

Chun-Li (Thinking): To be able to fire such devastating blasts all at once... it's taking everything in my power to evade him. He is most certainly the strongest man on this planet... at least, I believe so.

And as electricity fizzles across Ryu's form from the Denjin Charge, he reflects on her resourcefulness in this match. His force against her precision.

Ryu (Thinking): She was able to dodge my attack, even with the Denjin... I'm slowly adding more pressure, and she is keeping up with me... like Ken, she is among a special few who truly fulfills my desire for a challenge whenever we meet. She is astounding.

This being Ryu, he means it as a compliment to her fighting skills. Having devoted himself fully to his training, he has never dwelled overly much on other pleasures, such as love. Though Ken occasionally talks about his wife Eliza, and the family they have, Ryu never considered his own attempt at love. Chun-Li is more worldly. Out there. She has considered such things, yet never found a true match. She has good friends, and Guile is one of her closest, but she always saw him as a brother. And Cammy like a sister, though she has admitted to her attractiveness. Yet Chun-Li has once or twice admitted to something about Ryu, something profound and raw... it is why she is impressed by him and considers him a wonderful friend. Yes... a friend. That seems to be all they are thinking as they prep to charge each other again... as Ryu makes the next move!

Ryu: HASHOGEKI!

Closing in, Ryu unleashes a short range version of the Hadoken on Chun-Li, surging forth with a wave of blue energy! Chun-Li is unprepared and is knocked back, but jumps back to counter with a move of her own as her leg flows with energy as well!

Chun-Li: HYAKURETSUKYAKU!

A vicious barrage of energy-infused kicks comes Ryu's way as he stands his ground with the Denjin Charge... and raises his palm to block the kicks as they come in one-by-one! And Chun-Li suddenly realizes...!

Chun-Li (Thinking): He's blocking my Hyakuretsukyaku?! The only other person who's ever done that is Ken, that one time we sparred! Did Ken inform him on how he countered my signature attack?!

Chun-Li, nevertheless, stands on her other leg to unleash some more kicks, which Ryu flawlessly parries! Chun-Li hides her astonishment and goes for one last, upward kick, but Ryu jumps to block that attack as well... and his fist is lit up with a Shoryuken...!

Chun-Li (Thinking): That blasted Ken! He did tell him!

Chun-Li, nevertheless, has to make do as Ryu whirls at him with a furious assault, a fast flurry of punches and kicks driving Chun-Li back before he unleashes the Shoryuken... so Chun-Li does the unthinkable. She skips back as Ryu readies the Shoryuken, and fires a Kikouken at his fist!

BLAM!

The collision of energy knocks the warriors back! Ryu's gi is torn slightly, as is Chun-Li's blue and golden outfit as they land on the ground and skid away from each other.

After The Fight.

Ryu and Chun-Li relax after their friendly spar. They've fought before plenty of times when given the rare chance, and this was quite different from before.

Chun-Li: Oof. Huff. So Ken told you about the time he completely countered my Hyakuretsukyaku?

Ryu: He seemed particularly proud of that fight, as I recall. You had almost defeated him, too.

Chun-Li: So he will never let me forget it. I see... I'll remember that when we spar again.

Ryu: I'd like that. This was fun. I mostly let my fists do the talking sometimes anyway.

Chun-Li: Speaking of your fists, have you finally found the path?

Ryu: You know...my path is still a bit complex. I know I can become stronger, but with everything I've achieved and done, in many ways, I believe it is almost inevitable that my path will put me to a new one I never thought of.

Chun-Li: And what would that be?

Ryu: ...I don't know. Whatever it is...it's something I've never thought before. As long as the path exists, I'll take it to wherever it leads me.

Chun-Li: That's good. I'm glad to hear it.

Ryu: But...there's something...about this path.

Chun-Li: What?

Ryu didn't know how to really say what he wanted to say next, so he just came out and said it.

Ryu: It's funny. Sakura actually got me thinking about. Ken did too. They both spoke about...that part of life I've...been in the dark about.

Chun-Li: Like...?

Ryu again was nervous. But, through everything he's been through, he couldn't be afraid to do what he's about to do now. He sighs...and speaks.

Ryu: Chun-Li. You and I've known each other for so long, yet I still learn something new every time we fight. And...I don't know why I tell you now, but...I've sensed something within you. A...feeling that I thought...would be impossible for me to feel.

Chun-Li could not believe it. Was this happening? Was Ryu...confessing?

Ryu: I've always wondered what lied beyond my fists. What journey, adventure, or chapter of this story would befall upon me. And...having fought you...I think...I believe...that I now know.

Chun-Li: ...!

Ryu: I've once said that the answer lies in the heart of battle. And in yours...I saw the answer. But...I would like to hear from you personally.

Chun really truly couldn't believe this! Ryu...anticipated her confession with one of his own! And that made things so much easier for her!

Chun-Li: Ryu...I...heh. I've...been wanting to have this moment...for who knows how long.

Ryu: What stopped you?

Chun-Li: I...was scared. Silly and stupid. Thinking like those girls that dreamt to...have some form of Prince Charming to sweep them off. Through the years, I've been motivated by the people I care about. My dad, Cammy, Guile, Ken, Li-Fen...everyone. Now...the more I think about, the more I feel like...it was you who brought out my true strength.

Ryu is honestly surprised that Chun-Li would be so straightforward... yet... standing a few feet apart from her, seeing the beautiful smile on her lips, and now actually taking in her beautiful features...

A wind blows through the Sakura trees surrounding the Genbu Temple as the two stand a few feet apart. This sudden rift between them, cleaved in two. Suddenly, they are bound by more than just fate... and something compels Ryu to move towards Chun-Li, as the sun casts over their forms. He stops in front of her, and he stands two inches over her. He is 5'9'', with her being 5'7''... and Chun-Li's blush grows to match a strawberry.

Ryu: So you would be OK with that? Discovering what lies beyond a life of testing myself?

Chun-Li: Ryu, we have been together through thick and thin. From the day that we met to test each others' skills to the day we realized we shared a common enemy in the man who killed my father. I have seen you as many things. A hero. A warrior. A gentle soul. And... I'm genuinely interested in seeing you as more.

Ryu: I don't know if I would agree about being a hero... but you do me great credit, Chun-Li.

Chun-Li: As you have done me. You are an amazing man.

Ryu: And... I would be honored to learn from you how to love.

A small pause follows, as the two stare into each other's eyes... Chun-Li's smile is irresistible, while Ryu's smile is lighter yet still as pure.

Ryu: So... what must I...?

Chun-Li: I was... well...

The two both turn as red as the headband on Ryu's head. They are both masters of martial arts... but novices in the field of love.

Chun-Li: ...this is a little embarrassing. I don't know what else to do.

Ryu: Perhaps for now, we should... savor the moment?

Chun-Li: ...yes. Let's.

Chun-Li leans forwards, as does Ryu... they retreat slightly, knowing that this is going to be a very massive turning point in their previously platonic relationship. That... and they have never kissed anyone on the lips before. But they muster enough courage to try again, and Ryu places his hand on Chun-Li's chin, which she allows as he closes the distance.

When their lips meet, Chun-Li feels goosebumps. She feels the tender embrace as he has cooked his head slightly to the side to accomplish a perfect kiss. No tongues or extra lustful addition. It is perfect. Their eyes are closed, and Chun-Li rests her hands on Ryu's chest, her hands angled so her spiked cuffs don't scratch him by mistake. They separate... and Chun-Li feels light-headed, staring back up at Ryu.

Ryu: That felt... right.

Chun-Li (Slightly Flustered): Y... Yes. Yes, it did.

She is leaning on his chest now, as he instinctively starts to walk with her, a little more of a distance from the temple as Sakura blooms blow around them. With all barriers taken away from the two martial artists, they feel more in tune. Their steps synchronize as they wander alongside one another.
