It had been some time since Hawkgirl had re-joined the League, but aside from routine duties, which were required for each member, she hadn't really done anything. At the present moment, she sat in her quarters cleaning off her mace. She was thinking about calling it a night; however, the voice of the Martian changed that plan.

"Shayera, I've added you to a relief and investigation team along with Superman and Green Lantern. Report to the teleportation docks immediately"

"Finally, a mission!" She said to herself.

After she clipped her mace to her side, she sprinted out of her room and toward her objective. Within seconds she was waiting with the Man of Steel and the Green Lantern for J'onn to hit the button that would send them to Sarajevo.

The coordinates J'onn had inputted had brought the trio underneath the Batwing, so they immediately knew that the Caped Crusader was still in the local vicinity.

"I have a good idea of where Batman is." Superman said as he pointed towards a building that was ablaze.

"Really? How'd you put that together?" Lantern replied sarcastically.

"Call it intuition" Superman responded as he lifted off the ground and flew towards the burning heap.

Shayera and Green Lantern followed Superman's lead and headed after him. Once they touched down on the ground near the building they began walking further into the wreckage.

"What do you think happened here?" Shayera asked for either of her comrades to answer.

"I'm not sure, but this explosion didn't seem to cause any other disturbances." Lantern responded

"Quiet both of you." Superman suddenly interjected.

It was quickly obvious to Lantern and Shayera that Superman's super hearing had picked up on something.

"Someone said a name, Jason..."

The Kryptonian began moving quickly in some direction and was immediately followed by his two confused team mates. Suddenly Superman stopped moving.

"Superman what is it?" John asked.

Superman's reply came in a point in front of him. Shayera looked in the direction that he was indicating and saw a figure, clad in black, on their knees in front of something red. She then watched as the figure rose from the ground, holding a body. The flames were distorting her vision; however, it was pretty obvious that the figure was Batman. He then turned and looked in their direction.

"Batman...what happened." Clark asked

He didn't respond. Instead he walked past the trio and headed towards the Batwing. As he passed Shayera, she saw a whirlwind of emotions in the Dark Knight's eyes. Whoever Batman was holding had been obviously dear to him. Shayera attempted to follow him but Superman stopped her.

"Batman's already not a sociable person. He's going to need a lot of time to process that death." Superman said mournfully.

"But who was that?" Shayera said.

"J'onn, get us out of here." Green Lantern said over the comms.

"Understood." The monotone voice of the martian responded.

Within seconds the trio were back at the Watchtower.

"What ha-" J'onn began to say before he was cut off by Superman demanding that all the founding members meet in the conference room.

Once they were all assembled (Other then Batman of course.) Superman stood from his chair and addressed the five people in front of him.

"As you all have noticed, Batman is not here, at this meeting. Just a few moments ago, J'onn had dispatched John, Shayera, and I to investigate a disturbance in Sarajevo and a possible lead on Batman. Long story short, when we arrived at the place of the explosion, we found Batman. In his arms was the body of Jason Todd, the Robin.

"That explains why Batman was radio silent these past few months. Robin must have been missing and he was searching for him. For the next few weeks no one is to reach out to Batman at all. We'll take turns keeping an eye on Gotham, but Bruce needs time to grieve. That is all."

"Wasn't Robin Batman's protege? Wally asked to which Superman ruefully nodded.

"heavy" Wally muttered as he slumped in his chair.

"This information is to stay between the Founding Members alone, understood? If anyone asks about Batman just say he's Batman and is probably busy."

The six of them sat in an uncomfortable silence for the next few moments before they eventually began to file out. Once it was just Superman, J'onn, and Shayera, Superman broke the silence.

"Shayera, you've been kind of close to Bruce recently. You take first shift in Gotham and discreetly visit the manor. Don't let him see you."

"Understood." Shayera responded as she grabbed her mace and headed towards the teleporters once again.

As she touched down in Gotham, Shayera began wondering how she would approach her task at hand. She needed to get to the manor, but Bruce definitely had some sort of surveillance system installed that would detect any intrusions, so she couldn't just fly over to the manor and break in. She needed a way to bypass the billionaires precautions, kind of like going under a wave that's too large to take head on.

Under? Of course! The sewer lid that we used to get away from Deathstroke. But-that might also have some detection devices. Then again-it's my only shot.

Shayera flared her wings and took off. After a while of trying to remember where exactly the sewer cap actually was, Shayera finally landed at her destination. She crouched down and felt around the lid. After running her fingers around it a few times, she noticed a panel of sorts that definitely seemed like it didn't belong where it was, meaning that there definitely was some form of surveillance at this entrance. She reached for her mace but then remembered that Bruce's tech was probably durable enough for expected weathering and of course idiots being idiots. Most things don't replicate Nth metal maces.

Maybe I can short-circuit it with a charge from the mace?

Her theory seemed proved fruitful as the sewer lid sent off a few fried type noises and some blue sparks. After making sure the coast was clear she lifted the cap and jumped inside.
