The next chapter is posted! Enjoy :)

The last day of the two-month waiting period had finally arrived.

Dusk was steadily approaching as Kayla eagerly awaited Than-guan's return. And when it got dark, she decided to wait by the tree line that lined her parent's backyard.

It may not be the best place to wait for him. But it's not like they were very specific where he would meet her. The only hint was he would possibly meet her near her home.

She let out a small sigh of relief when she finally went ahead and got it over with in telling her parents that she was leaving again.

At first, they didn't know how to take it. They just got her back, and now she was leaving them again. But Kayla assured them that everything would be ok.

She was leaving of her own free will this time. And stated that she wouldn't be alone.

Jackie did eventually talk her into telling them about the 'man' who saved her and how they bonded and became close. Then went on to tell them that he will be returning to see her soon and that she decided to go live with him.

Kayla thought it was running pretty smoothly, until they asked to meet him before she left.

The only thing she could think of to reply to that, was she was unsure when he was coming or where he was even meeting her at. Only that he assured her that he will be here soon.

She hates herself for doing this, but when he did come for her, she was just going to leave. Because if she did inform her family of when exactly he was coming, they would be very insistent on meeting him.

And unfortunately, she cannot risk that. They would freak out and most likely wouldn't understand what was between them.

Kayla was very stern with Jackie on the matter too. Because her friend was also very curious to mee the one who saved her and helped her escape.

Her eyes drifted to the clock in the kitchen. It was time.

Her eyes drifted to the note she had written and left for her parents on the kitchen table. It was a pretty shitty thing to do. But it was for their own good and Than-guan's safety.

She approached the back door that led out to the yard. The young woman paused before it and took a deep breath, before grasping the brass knob and turning it.

It was mid-June, and once the door opened, she was greeted by a warm, humid breeze as she stepped outside.

Kayla quietly closed the door behind her and headed to the back of the property. She paused at the tree line and looked behind her one last time at her childhood home.

Before she stepped through the tree line that lined the property.

There was one small area back here a few yards out that she would go to hang out. Hopefully, Than-guan will find her there. It wasn't all that far from the property. Like maybe twenty-two feet at best.

You could still see the back porchlight through the trees from the spot she was going to.

Kayla walked through the brush and came to a stop at the small stream that flowed parallel behind her home. She found the rock she would usually occupy and took a seat.

Hopefully, she doesn't miss him. She knows she stated her house address and where to find her. But him showing up in her backyard was a little too risky.

She waited there for a while. And the longer she waited, the more antsy and nervous she got.

Kayla lifted her wrist up and looked down at her apple watch. The numbers shown it was 9:32pm. At this point, she was willing to wait the night if she had to.

A small part of her was still scared he wouldn't make it. And if he couldn't, it would break her heart. Not only that, but she feared for a future without him.

She needed him. There were some new mitigating factors she feels she wouldn't be able to do on her own without him.

And the longer she waited there without seeing a sign of him, the more restless she started to become. A few tears started to form in her eyes and her heart started feeling heavy.

Kayla was starting to worry that he may have dropped by her home while cloaked, didn't see her, and possibly left. That he didn't notice or see her back here.

She shook her head.

'No, he will find me. Surely, he would see me back here through that mask of his. He wouldn't just leave.' The young woman thought.

After a few more minutes of silence though, she stood up from the rock she was sitting on.

"Midnight? Midnight, are you out there!? If you are, please answer me!" She all but shouted.

Sadly, she was met with silence though.

"Midnight, please! I need to know that you are here! Please answer me!" She tried again.

Still, nothing.

Kayla waited a couple more minutes before she yelled his name once more.

"MIDNIGHT!" She yelled loud and clear.

She waited with bated breath but heard no response.

Her vision began to blur with tears as they started to roll down her checks. She let out a shaky breath that turned into a small sob.

"Damn female, you sure are awfully loud. Wouldn't be surprised if the whole block heard you." Came a teasing voice to her right, behind her.

Kayla let out a small gasp, and slowly turned around to face him.

Standing before her uncloaked, was none other than her hunter. As always, he was sporting his armor and weapons and was looking down at her.

A large smile took up her face. He was here, he came back for her. Just like he promised.

"You came back." She said, barely above a whisper.

He reached out and brushed the pad of his thumb down her wet cheek.

"Of course, I did. I made a promise after all. And I don't tend to break those. Was always going to come back for you, Kayla." Than-guan assured her.

Kayla reached up and grasped his hand that still hovered over her cheek.

"I'm glad you did. I really missed you." She replied.

He caressed her cheek, "And I missed you."

They stood there for a few moments in silence before one of them spoke up.

"I have a very important question to ask you, before we go. It's something I've been wanting to ask for the last couple months now. Was going to wait until we got back to my ship. But it's something I really wanted to know now." He said, and then paused before asking.

"Kayla, will you be me my Life Mate?" He asks.

Her heart skipped a beat when he asked her. She recalls him telling her about their society in regard to mates and mating seasons. And while most yautja aren't monogamous, there were some who took one mate and stuck with them for the rest of their lives. And these mates were called Life Mates.

He basically just asked her to be his and only his for the rest of their lives.

A few mores tears left her eyes, but this time, they were tears of joy.

"I love you. Of course, I want to be with you, always." She said.

Kayla paused before speaking again.

"I will also need all the help I can get in the coming months." She said.

He cocked his head at her.

"Why is that?" Than-guan asked.

She lightly bit her lip and looked down briefly before looking back up and meeting his gaze once more.

"I took a test a couple days ago. I'm pregnant, Midnight." Kayla told him.

He didn't say anything for a moment. Just stood there in silence.

Next thing she knew, she was lifted off the ground, and being spun in circles. And after a few seconds of getting over her initial surprise, she couldn't help but laugh at his enthusiasm.

Than-guan then pulled her in for a hug, and her small arms went around his neck.

"You're amazing, you know that? And here I thought you agreeing to be my Life Mate was great news. But I think this may top it as well." He said, with a small chuckle.

She too let out a small chuckle.

Yeah, she couldn't be any more excited either. Her love returned to her. And now they can go to his home and start a family together. And while she didn't expect for it to happen this fast, she was still happy it happened.

Kayla would be lying if she weren't shocked to see the test results came back positive. She wasn't sure she could get pregnant by him. But both tests indicated a positive mark.

That, plus, she had been having on and off bouts of nausea now for the last couple weeks. And she actually found herself running to the bathroom on two separate occasions to throw up.

Not to mention a couple missed periods since she returned here.

Kayla pulled back and looked into his masked face.

"Are you ready to come back with me?" He asks.

"Yeah, let's go home." She replied.

Than-guan shifted her in his arms to carry her bridal style. Then he took off through the woods. He landed his ship back here about a good couple miles away in the dense foliage of the woods.

The seasoned warrior and his new mate were eager to get back quickly and start their new lives.

Until Next Time ;)
