Day 826: Rapunzel's first painting
Her second birthday had come and gone. By now, Rapunzel has officially learned how to walk and talk. Yet she had to celebrate both of these exciting developing moments alone in the tower.
Her "mother" Gothel, was always away throughout the day. She'd often be gone for hours at a time.
However, when she first noticed Rapunzel's ability to finally walk and talk, Gothel gave the young child a list of chores to do while she was away. Cleaning the floors, dusting, washing dishes, etc. Assignments most developing toddlers could do on their own.
It was part of a daily routine Rapunzel had to adjust to in order gain discipline, independence and self-awareness. At least that's what Gothel lead Rapunzel to believe, as she had to think of new solutions that would prevent the child from leaving.
Although small, and still learning, Rapunzel was still capable of accomplishing her chores. In fact, she often finished them all within an hour or so and then afterwards, Rapunzel would spend the rest of the day playing with her toys.
One day, during Gothel's outing, Rapunzel stumbled upon a pile of paints that Gothel had been using to cover up the previous stains on the walls.
Curious, Rapunzel took a closer look at the paints before her. There were in plain colours such as white, yellow, red, green and blue.
When she first laid eyes upon them, a creative spark suddenly coursed within her and by instinct, Rapunzel picked up a random paintbrush, placed it into one of the paints, looked closely at the blank walls, walked towards the edge of the fireplace and then painted what appeared to be a simple flower.
It was within that moment, Rapunzel found something else besides cleaning, playing with her toys or simply waiting for her mother to come back that she had found something else to do while in her tower.
The only difference is, when she first painted that flower, it unleashed a deep love and passion for picking up the paintbrush and an even deeper desire to paint another image.
From where she stood, Rapunzel looked at blank walls all around her and saw endless possibilities awaiting her to paint them.
By the time Gothel finally returned to the tower, she walked in to find Rapunzel sleeping on the floor with a paintbrush in her paint-covered hands and half of the fireplace painted!
Besides the flower, Rapunzel had also painted a sun, a horse, a lizard and of course, oddly shaped circles that resembled the floating lights that shown earlier that year on her birthday.
At first, Gothel's first instinct was to yell and perhaps raise her hand at the small child. However, Gothel felt she couldn't risk damaging "her flower," and since Rapunzel was developing a new "hobby" while remaining in the tower, Gothel instead decided to put her anger aside, take the paintbrush from Rapunzel's hand before picking her up and carrying her upstairs to her room.
Once Rapunzel was tucked in, she fell into a deep slumber that eventually took her to a world where all the images she painted came to life and lead her to the source of the mysterious floating lights. Bringing her so much joy.
But because she didn't know where the lights were coming from or how to get to them, Rapunzel soon woke up from her dream. Sadden that she wasn't allowed to know where they were coming from.
Hey everyone, so sorry this took too long. I hope this will make up for it.
