Bloom of the Dragon Realm

The Winx were wandering down the streets of Magix when Bloom lets out a sigh.

"Bloom," Flora, her roommate calls out. "Are you all right, sweetie?"

"Yeah. Just a little homesick," the redhead nods. "I miss my parents, my brothers, the swamp."

That piqued the other fairies' interest. "You live in a swamp?" Tecna asked.

Musa then comments, "I guess that would explain how you were able to navigate us during Palladium's test? And the smell from the first day of school. Ouch!" she is then elbowed by Stella.

"I still don't see the big deal of how I smelled," the redhead shrugs. "Not that a shower doesn't feel nice, but I've gone sixteen years without it. I'm sure that I'll be fine without—"

A very familiar voice calling out the girl's name cut her off. "Bloom!"

"Oof!" Bloom finds herself tackled to the ground.

"It's a dragon!" a passerby screams. Standing on top of the Fire Fairy is a purple dragon with yellow wings and horns.

Tecna takes out her phone. "It must have escaped a Specialist transport. I'll contact Timmy and—" the Technology Fairy stopped as a hand was placed over her device. Looking up, she finds Stella smiling at them.

"You don't need to call anyone." The Sun Fairy looks back over at the redhead who is now hugging the dragon. She finds herself smiling at the display.

"Spyro!" Bloom says. "I missed you so much!"

"What about me?" a yellow dragonfly with two arms swoops up to the girl's face. "Am I chopped liver or something?"

"Sparx!" Bloom pulls the dragonfly into as gentle hug. "I can't believe you guys are here!"

"Yeah, well, we missed you to, Sis," Sparx chuckled.

"Sis?" The Winx girls, with the exception of Stella gapped at hearing this.

"Yeah, well. You see—" Bloom tried to explain but is cut off at the sound of shouting.

"Don't worry, Ladies!" a brunette boy shouts as he comes running up to them with phantoblade drawn. "The Specialists have arrived."

"Bloom," a blond boy slowly approaches them. "Just step away from the dragon. Make no sudden moves."

"Wait, Sky! Remember how I said that my family is not like everyone else's?" the redhead asks.

"This is not the time, Bloom."

"Sky," her grip tightens around the dragon and dragonfly. "Meet my brothers. Spyro and Sparx."

"B-brothers?"

"What!?" Sparx flies up into his face. "Don't you see the family resemblance?"

"Uh?" Sky looks past the bug and sees his girlfriend and the dragon smiling. "You all have… the same smile."

Sparx laughs before turning back to his brother and sister. "I like this guy. You should keep him, Bloom."

"Sparx!"

"I'm only kidding!" the dragonfly then flies up to his sister. "Hey, Bloom. Do you know a place where a grub could grab some grub. It feels like ages since we last ate."

"Oh! There's this sweetshop nearby. They make this thing called ice cream. Some of them taste like strawberries."

.oOo.

Bloom happily eats a spoonful of her ice cream.

"Strawberries were always your favorite," Spyro comments as he eats something called a cake.

"Ahhh," Sparx sighs while sipping a strange hot drink. "A guy could get used to this."

The present Winx girls and the two Specialists eyes the trio.

"Let me get this straight," Musa spoke up. "You two," she points at Bloom and Spyro. "Were raised by bugs?"

"Pretty much," Bloom shrugs. "I never even met anyone like me until Stella dropped in."

"Oooh, ooh!" Sparx starts flying around. "I remember that day! How this weird looking monkey…" he zips over to Stella.

"Hey!" the blond girl took offense at that.

"…came out of nowhere battling this ugly yellow gorilla thing. Blasting light at these little monsters. That's when my brother here," he goes over to Spyro. "hopped in to flay them. But Ugly got the upper hand by throwing a boulder and then got the magic stick. But thanks to our sis," the bug zooms to the redhead. "she helped beat that guy when she threw fire out of her hands. Hadn't been that surprised since I first saw Spyro spit fire." He then flies between Stella and Brandon. "Sometimes I wonder about the other end." That causes a giggle to leave Stella while Brandon choked on his shake as he laughed.

"Sparx!" Spyro whined.

"Anyway," Bloom continues her part of the story. "Since they could only guess that I was a baby, Mom and Dad decided that I was close enough to share the same hatch day as Spyro and Sparx."

Tecna tilts her head at that last part. "Hatch day?"

"Yeah," Sparx zooms over to the pink haired girl. "You know? The day you were hatched from an egg. Just like everyone else."

Brandon chuckles, "None of us were."

The dragon tilts his head. "Then where did you guys come from?"

"You see, Spyro…" Bloom leans in and started to whisper to the dragon. Sparx zipped over to them just close enough to hear what's being said. During the explanation, both brothers' expressions changed from surprised, disgust, and even horror.

"Ick!" Sparx flew away. "You guys are disgusting," he shivers. "I'm going to find a bug zapper to get those images out of my head," he takes off.

"I had the same reaction when Stella told me."

Sky turns to his girlfriend in disbelief. "You thought you hatched from an egg?"

The redhead shrugged. "I had no reason not to. We were pretty isolated in the swamp and our parents never treated us differently from one another. Heck! When we started out, we didn't even know that Spyro was a dragon. Not that we knew what a dragon was."

"Those must have been some revelations for the two of you?" Brandon comments.

Instead of Bloom, it was Stella that answered. "You don't know the half of it. When we meet she kept on messing with my hair. She wasn't even aware that it comes in this color. Or other colors."

Musa looks over at Bloom. "So that's why you were obsessing over our heads." She receives a nod from the redhead.

Flora then adds. "It also explains how you didn't know how to take care of your own hair."

"Yeah," Bloom rans a hand through her hair. "And thanks again for showing me how to use a brush. And shampoo. And conditioner. And… other things." she starts blushing furiously, not willing to say anything more.

The Nature Fairy smiles in return. "It was no problem, Sweetie."

The Fire Fairy then turns to her brother. "So, what are you guys doing here anyway? Is everything alright back home?"

"The Realm is still in peace," Spyro tells her before sighing. "But there was a rogue dragon trying to bring back Malefor." At this, Bloom gasps.

The other Winx and Specialists look among one another.

Brandon then says, "I'm guessing he's not a guy who brings in rainbows and sunshine."

"Far from it," Bloom answers. "Outside the swamp, Malefor managed to rule the realm in darkness."

That's when Sparx made his return. "And thanks to me and our brother here, with a little help, we stopped the rogue and smashed the portal thing," the dragonfly then rubs the back of his head. "But the portal was still open, and we all got pulled in and somehow ended up here."

"Sounds like it's all good then," Brandon announces as he leans back, arms behind his head. "We'll sit here for a while, hang out, listen to some embarrassing stories about Bloom and then we'll send you back to your realm."

"You want embarrassing?" Sparx laughs. "How about the time Bloom got stuck in—"

Bloom snaps, "Sparx!"

"It's not that simple," Spyro cuts them off. "We stopped Malefor's return but we got separated from our friends."

"Yeah," Sparx starts zipping around. "You wouldn't happen to have seen them? One's about yeah high, wears a cloak, possibly carrying a bow. He's also a talking cat." He looked around and got no answers. "No? Then how about another dragon? Spyro's lady friend."

Spyro snaps at his brother, "Sparx!"

This caught the interest of their sister "You have a lady friend?"

"It's, it's not like that!"

"Oh, come one, flame breath," the dragonfly zooms into the dragon's face. "I've seen the way you look at Cynder when you think no one's looking. I'll have you know that she does the same."

"Sparx, that's, that's not… She does?" the dragon found himself smiling at that thought.

Everyone laughs at the dragon's reaction.

"Don't worry, Spyro," Bloom reaches over to her brother. "We'll help you find your friends." The girls agree with her.

Sky takes out his phone. "I'll send word to Red Fountain so that the other Specialists will keep an eye out for them. I'll be sure to tell them that they're friends." The Prince walks off.

"Thank you," the dragon looks among the present fairies and Specialist. "All of you."

"You're Bloom's family," Stella tells him. "There's no way we wouldn't help. Plus, I still owe your parents for giving me a place to rest after the incident with the Ogre. They were so kind. I didn't even care that we were in a swamp or that they were bugs. Uh! No offense," she turns to Sparx who only shrugged.

"Meh! We are what we are. Why should I take offense to that?"

.oOo.

When Cynder woke up, she found herself in chains.

"What happened?" the dragon shakes her head. "Where am I?" she's not unfamiliar with the room around her. It's obviously a dungeon. She tugged on her chains before trying one of her elemental powers. Only, nothing happened. "Huh?"

"They did something," a voice spoke out from the corner.

Turning to the direction of the voice, Cynder finds a familiar cheetah. "Hunter? What's going on?"

"The portal became unstable, and we were pulled through," he fiddles with his own chains. "You were still out when I came to. Spyro and Sparx were nowhere to be seen. Some strange creatures approached us. I tried getting you to safety, but they had magic and overpowered me," he manages to remove the chains. "They then used some relics and took your powers. We were then brought here. Now," he walks over to Cynder. "Let's get you out of here."

Hunter goes to remove Cynder's own chains, but he is blasted away by energy. Cynder knows that power all too well.

"Aether?" she turns to the direction of where the energy came from. "How?"

Three young women are standing at the entrance to the dungeon. One with white hair, another with brown, and the third with frizzy hair.

"Aether," the white one approaches the dragon. "So that's what this magic is. Tells us more."

Cynder glares at them. "I've been used once before. I will not allow it to happen again."

"We'll see," the white one turned to the brown haired one and nodded.

The brown haired one walks up as the white one steps back. "Nothing a little fear won't fix." Her eyes started glowing red.

End

NOTE: This is based on the Legend of Spyro but doesn't really take place in any specific part of the trilogy. It's a bit of its own thing.

Austin (Guest), I considered your idea about an older Spyro and Cynder being Bloom's parents in this scenario. But I was partially through writing this one when I read that suggestion. I also thought that I wanted more sibling interactions with Bloom and I thought Spyro and Sparx would have been good for that.
