Update

Okay everybody, breathe out. God actual damn, I can finally write NEW content for this fic. I'm briefly gonna touch on the history of this fic because I feel it needs to be restated.

I started this fic while Volume One of RWBY was airing for the first time, and I have dropped and picked it back up SO many times in the ten years since then. I really loved RWBY when it started out, but after Volume 4 and 5 of the show I had to simply come to terms with the fact that I no longer loved, or even liked it. I HATE RWBY lol, and I'm sorry for that. I'm gonna go through the timeline real quick and I hope that will help you understand why the quality and length of the volumes of AMBR are so odd.

So when I started the fic, the fic began at what is now volume 3 of AMBR. Back then it was called Volume 1 and the chapters were like 2,000 words, horribly edited and the tensing was ALL over the place. Borderline unreadable honestly, but I was a teenager, and not a very intelligent one.

I wrote the fic up to the end of volume 5 in sync with the anime's release and the utterly disgusting amount of boredom that volume 4 and 5 made me feel killed the fic right after the volume 5 finale.

I dropped the fic for about a year before the bug bit me again and I decided to start "over" if you can call it that. This is when I re-labeled Volume's 1-3 of AMBR to volumes 3-5, and began writing the new beginning to the fic, which is what it is today, volume 1 and 2 of AMBR which act as a prequel to RWBY and the rest of the AMBR fic.

After that I took a long hiatus and wrote other stuff before it began to bother me how HUGE of a dip in quality there now existed between the NEW volume 1&2 and the OLD volume 3-5.

For YEARS I have been struggling with wanting to bring volumes 3, 4 and 5 up to a "good enough" standard so that the dip in quality isn't quite such a chasm. Originally this entailed bringing volumes 3 through 5 up to the same average chapter length as volume 1 and 2, about 3500 words, and beefing them out to the new standard of 15 chapters per volume.

As you can plainly see, that did not pan out very well.

It worked for Volume 3 because Volume 3 of AMBR had a LOT of content to work with by happenstance. It really condenses the first 3 volumes of RWBY into one volume so it was easy to add 5 chapters and beef them all out to the word counts I wanted.

Volumes 4 and 5….do not have that xD. I have been struggling for YEARS to get through this edit and update of the story and today I made the decision to just give up on the expansion and just make the thing legible. I Cannot spend any more hours of my life trying to expand what simply cannot be efficiently expanded. I've been waiting to write volume 6 of AMBR for probably 6 or 7 years now and I can't do it anymore.

Volume 4 and volume 5 of AMBR are never going to be anything more than they are right now, I had to drop the extra chapters I planned and just focus on editing and re-tensing the chapters to make them work good enough.

And that's that, I'm finally moving forward, no more eternal roadblock, we are doing this.

I'm writing Volume 6 of AMBR, and it's going to be…a lot lol. In a good way I hope. Lots of stuff happens this volume, including but certainly not limited to the series really stating the long haul of getting away from RWBY Canon. I've now watched volumes 6-9 and with how much I hated every second of it, to the fact that volume 10 isn't even GREENLIT I'm done with the canon. Some pieces of volume 6 and 7's overall plot will remain but A LOT is going to be changed in these 2 volumes from the original source, and after that, AMBR will basically become its own entity. There may be an occasional reference to the direction the canon goes in after volume 8 but it'll never be substantial.

The truth is I just can't bear to attempt to fix the direction RWBY went in after Volume 5 so volume 6 is where we start weeding out the stuff that I don't have the energy to fix. If AMBR goes on for that long it will eventually become its own story completely, and im okay with that ?.

Comments of any shape and size are ALWAYS very welcome, I thrive on reading comments so let me know what you think from time to time, especially now all of volume 5 is "fixed".
