I guess I'll give this a shot because I'm bored. Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, unfortunately.

A/N: This is a story many have attempted and they're mostly, well, exact copies of each other. This won't be a stupidly overpowered Naruto, at least not for a while. Pairings will be eventually decided in the future but it will be neither NaruHina nor NaruHarem. Hoping for an unusual one such as NaruTen or any other pairing not usually used. Enjoy this story, The Pseudo Uchiha

Chapter One: Promise of a Lifetime

Minato Namikaze stood staring at the beautiful redhead, Kushina Uzumaki, his wife, and the mother of his newborn child. He smiled warmly, wishing that he were in a better situation than the one steadily presenting itself to him. Unfortunately, that was not the case as a giant 9 tails fox was raging through Konoha. It was said that through a jinchuuriki's life, there was but one time when the seal containing the beast within them weakened. That, in Kushina Uzumaki's case, and any other female jinchuuriki hoping to have a family, is through childbirth. Kushina lays in the hospital bed, staring at her baby boy. Her sweet, beautiful baby boy. He had three whiskers on each cheek, making him look all the more adorable to the redhead. She managed the strength to kiss her baby on the forehead. She had lost a considerable amount of strength seeing as an entire bijuu was ripped from her stomach. Thankfully, she was an Uzumaki, the clan with the most vitality in the world of shinobi. However, said vitality would only prolong the inevitable.

Minato Namikaze was a lot of things. A great man, handsome, overwhelmingly powerful and much more. He was not, however, strong enough to defeat a bijuu one on one. Therefore he came to the conclusion that it would create a great ripple among the entire shinobi world.

"Kushina. I have a plan, but it's extremely risky. Listen closely." Minato was speaking to Kushina in a hushed tone as to not wake up the peacefully sleeping newborn that was his son. As he told the plan, Kushina's eyes widened to preposterous sizes. "You can't, Minato! You know the village is not as forgiving as to just forget about the demon who destroyed their entire village."

Minato's face twisted into a frown. He knew the words she spoke were true, but who would he be as a Hokage to not trust in the villagers he called his family. He would go through with this plan no matter what. "Kushina, this is not something I can just put off. The village is my home and as its Hokage, It's my duty to protect it; and as such, I will do so." Minato said this with a voice that left no room for argument. Kushina, although reluctantly, nodded. And with that, Minato gave an apologetic smile to his wife and now newborn son.

On the battlefield with the Kyuubi no Kitsune, many leaf shinobi lay dead. Many homes destroyed, orphans made, and most important, lives destroyed. VIllagers scarred for life. The third Hokage had lived his fair share of time. Well past the usual life expectancy of a shinobi. He had been through all 3 great shinobi wars and earned the nickname of the god of shinobi. However, he had never faced a foe as strong as the beast he faces now. Even with the help of the village's most elite ninja, the anbu, and second strongest, Jonin, the hokage saw no way out of this than total and utter destruction of the Hidden Leaf Village. He had once again struck it with his most prized jutsu and perhaps his strongest companion besides his three students and his current successor, Monkey King Enma. The boss of the monkey clan was by himself, kage level in skill and general power. He'd transformed into a staff, unbreakable by anything, even by the bijuu standing mere hundreds of feet away.

In a flash of yellow light, the fourth hokage, Minato Namikaze appeared onto the battlefield. After having explained the plan to his wife, and now to the third hokage and his anbu, the plan was now underway. This plan was risky, but It'd undoubtedly save the village. Minato began going through hand signs at an inhuman speed. As every ninja Chunin or higher threw their most damaging jutsu at the demon. All for not as it all had been swiped away. A shadow clone, however, of the fourth hokage soon performed the summoning jutsu, summoning more than likely one of if not the strongest summon in the world of summons, Gamabunta of the toads. He landed on top of the great demon fox with a big and loud explosion. The real Minato teleported himself, his son and Kushina to the demon. Kushina with one last look of sadness and regret unleashed her bloodline. She released the Uzumaki chakra chains. This withheld the fox as Minato completed his jutsu. "Reaper Death seal!"

Above Minato floats a menacingly powerful being, in all his might. He proceeded to stick his hand through the stomach of Minato Namikaze, binding his soul to his own. The shinigami licked his lips, enjoying a soul as powerful as Minato's and thus, binding the soul of the 9 tailed fox to Naruto Uzumaki Namikaze. That, at least, was the deal set forth, and he never went back on his word. As the divine figure disappeared, with the last of his chakra, Minato then sealed the nine tails chakra inside of his son. As a last ditch effort, the Kyuubi attempted to shove his claw through Naruto. His parents wouldn't allow it as the remaining energy went into rushing in front of the claw. Minato and Kushina looked at their boy with warm love and affection. They both had written what they needed in scrolls set aside specifically for their boy. Therefore, with nothing much else to say they said at the same time "We love you, Naruto." That day the world had lost two heroes.

Hiruzen Sarutobi sat at his desk. It was days later after the Kyuubi attack and as a result, the death of the beloved fourth hokage. Many thoughts ran through his mind, many of which concern the fact that he was supposed to be retired, rid of the piles of paperwork, mindaching council, etc. And yet, here he was. After an attack of a being so powerful that not even two kage could beat it, Minato had left him the accursed aftermath of it all. "Damn you Minato." Is what ran through the old hokage's thoughts.

Days later, it had been revealed that the demon fox was sealed inside of a newborn baby. This baby had red hair, 3 whisker marks gracing his face, and blue eyes that'd remind anyone of the vast ocean. Many villagers called for the baby's death, many saying he was the reincarnation of the demon fox among other accusations. Hiruzen quickly shut down any talk of killing the baby. He'd even gone as far as to make a law forbidding the discussion among the younger generation to come, making said law of S rank importance; punishable by death. It was unnecessary and cruel behavior to wish death upon a newborn baby. One so innocent.

Days Later in the Council Room

"The demon should die before it regains its power," "The demon is reincarnated inside that boy there," "Hokage sama, just destroy the boy while we still can!" These are the comments given to the hokage by multiple civilian councilmen. The hokage for the most part kept quiet. However, after receiving the multiple comments, the hokage released an amount of chakra enough to shake even seasoned Jonin to their core. Safe to say, many civilians died of suffocation, not being able to breathe due to the mere presence of the kage's power. "Now that we are settled down, we shall speak of Naruto Uzumaki." Many shinobi clan head's eyes widened, remembering the old Anbu head captain. The third strongest in the village, known to surpass even the sanin in skill level.

"You mean to tell me that this boy is the daughter of lady Kushina?" Asked a Jonin asked in the distance. One that'd been saved by the redhead woman in an A rank mission. "Yes, the very same." Replied the old Hokage. Many raised questions about the boy's father. Just as quickly as they rised, they fell as the old Sarutobi simply blew them off. He had told them it was a SS rank secret known only to himself, Jiraiya, and Tsunade of the sannin. They all just decided to stick with it, deeming it unnecessary to argue.

Hiruzen began to speak again after allowing a minute to pass with no conversation. "Now. Naruto here," as he gestured to the bundle lying in a cradle not even 5 from himself, "will not be executed. Seeing as he is the hero of this village, you all here will treat him as such and hopefully the villagers will do the same." Hiruzen looked around to see any objection and found none.

He began once again, "Alright. Naruto kun here will live in the orphanage until we can find a better situation for him. Well then, this meeting adjourned. The sealing of the Kyuubi and the law surrounding it will be public knowledge in the next few hours. Now, get to your post quickly so that we may recover effectively and efficiently."

Many ninja and councilmen besides the civilians who'd died from Sarutobi's chakra release earlier walked out the council room. Many secretly had formed a deep hatred for the container of the nine tailed fox.

Years Later

A seven year old Naruto Uzumaki was seen sprinting as fast as a seven year old could. Unfortunately, that wasn't fast enough. Many villagers with a hate for the Kyuubi no Kitsune would chase down Naruto, beat him, and leave him for dead. This time, they'd finish the job for sure. Naruto was chased into an alley. A genin with brown hair and dark brown eyes pulled out a couple shuriken, using the shinobi training to pin Naruto's clothes to the concrete wall behind him. The genin had used chakra to pierce the concrete as Naruto grew in fear as the drunken adults and few genin among the crowd came closer and closer. They all had one collective thought - it was time to finish what the fourth hokage had started. Many pulled out sharp objects, both kitchen knives and kunai. Naruto screamed forth in pain and misery, soon blacking out in pain.

As Naruto awoke he found himself staring at a ceiling, presumingly the hospital's if the beeping sound of a heart monitor was anything to go by. Though in a hospital, Naruto did not feel safe. He felt, if possible, even more scared than before he'd gotten here in the first place. Naruto noticed who he recognized to be the 3rd hokage walk in the door. Naruto quickly erased any fear and replaced it with sadness and sorrow. The hokage didn't miss this as he sat down next to Naruto.

Naruto began to speak in a low tone "How'd I end up here this time"

These words hit the old hokage hard, making him sigh in shame. As he thought about his failure as a hokage and friend to Minato, he formed his words, "Multiple stab wounds near the heart, 5 broken ribs, and 10 kunai to the leg."

Naruto just looked on in a detached manner. "I want them all to just go away. I just wanna live in a place where I can be normal like everyone else." The Hokage's eyes widened as the redhead's words hit him.

He looked on in a depressed manner. How could he let this happen to Minato's son. "I'm sorry my boy."

Naruto looked at the hokage, flashing a forced smile. The hokage shed a tear at the sight. "Jiji, at least tell me about my parents. I at least want that much!" The hokage's eyes widened again as this was the first time Naruto had asked about his parents. Hiruzen figured telling him about his mother and her clan wouldn't hurt, would it? What he didn't know was that he would begin the journey of a ninja who'd ironically go down in many bingo books with the second ever flee on sight order.

Hiruzen nodded and told Naruto that in three days once he was released from the hospital, he'd get to find out about one of his parents. Naruto wasn't exactly too fond of the idea of one of his parents being hidden from him, but he'd take what he could get.

Three days later

The hokage sent for Naruto so that he could finally tell Naruto about his mother. Hiruzen began walking through the village, heading for Naruto's apartment. The village looked especially peaceful today. He saw Naruto's apartment approaching quickly, and soon, he was at the front door. He sighed, took a draw of his pipe, and knocked on the door. Naruto opened, just finishing a bowl of instant ramen. Naruto was dressed in a black T-shirt with the Uzumaki clan symbol on the front and back of the shirt. He also wore black cargo shorts that were seemingly too big for the small 7 year old.

Naruto was ecstatic. He'd finally find out about his mother. He wondered if she was a super strong ninja, or maybe a cool doctor, or was she a nobody? Naruto had lived his short 7 years of life in utter hell. He'd get beaten daily, nearly killed even. Naruto wanted most to know if his parents loved him. If so, at least he'd have had that much." Naruto snapped from his musings, realizing the hokage had been staring at him for a minute with a look full of pity and shame.

Hiruzen had seen the apartment. He noticed Naruto was zoned out for a bit and decided to peek on the inside of the house. He seen multiple graffiti saying demon, demon boy, die, kill yourself, etc. He'd been filled with shame, regret, and a sense of failure. He'd failed his successor.

When the hokage noticed Naruto snap back to reality, he flashed a small smile asking Naruto to come with him. As Naruto stepped out of his apartment, Hiruzen touched Naruto on the shoulder, using the shunshin to get back to the hokage's office.

Naruto sat down in the nearest chair, looking around for the first time in what seemed to be the office of the hokage. He spotted 4 picture frames of the hokage. All the way from the first, to the late fourth hokage. Naruto was amazed, these were the four strongest shinobi in the history of shinobi. Very few shinobi in history rivaled these men. At least, that's what he thought.

"Right then, Naruto. I guess I'll give you this." Sarutobi then handed Naruto a scroll with the kanji for Uzumaki on it. It also had the Uzumaki swirl. However, Naruto just knew it to be the symbol everyone wears on their shinobi gear. Naruto then began reading the letter.

"Hello, Naruto. If you're reading this, I've most likely passed from the land of the living. My name is Kushina Uzumaki, and I'm your mother." Naruto began shedding a few tears. He continued reading, "I'm so sorry I couldn't be there for you, Naruto. I've most likely died due to the demon fox roaming through the village. Naruto, my baby boy, I love you so much. You've taken after me so much with your beautiful red hair, just like mines. You look so much like your father as well. But in order to not waste any more time, I want to explain something to you. Our clan." Naruto's eyes widened to great proportions as he read the words "I love you so much" over and over in his head. He also noted his hair was from his mother. But what caught his eye the most was the fact that he had apparently had a clan.

He continued on with the letter. "Naruto, our clan was a very, very powerful clan. If your red hair is anything to go by, you've taken heavily from it. Most likely, you will develop the bloodlines and talents of our clan. Now, I know you're wondering what it is exactly that our clan was good at. Well first, our main type of combat was fuinjutsu, the art of sealing. We find ways to use it that most ninja would kill for. As they have in the past. I only have a few minutes left, so I'll tell you one last thing. Lord third will explain the rest. We have two bloodlines, one, the ability to cast genjutsu rivaled by no one, not even the Uchiha. And the second, our chakra chains, comparable to the first hokage's wood release. With that, Naruto, I love you. Live a good life, become a good man, and find a great kunoichi that you can live with. Don't be greedy, and stay away from Jiraiya the toad sannin. Goodbye Naruto, I'm always watching over you."

By the time he was done reading, he had started sobbing. He had a mom, one that loved him. He also had a clan, one that was not only powerful, but had powerful bloodlines. He was loved, if not by no one else, by his mother. He looked towards the hokage in front of him and nodded. Hiruzen understood and began speaking.

"Right. What your mother wanted me to explain is the full extent of the Uzuamki clan's prowess and what happened to them. Also, who your mother was."

Naruto nodded in understanding, signaling the old man to continue.

"First, you should understand a few perks that come with being from your clan." Receiving another nod, Hiruzen continued, "Your clan's most obvious perk is the fact that your chakra reserves rivals that of the nine tailed beast. Your inhumane chakra levels allow for you to use practically any jutsu the world has to offer." Naruto thought about it, he himself had these reserves and he thought it was super awesome. "Next, your unique ability to cast genjutsu." Naruto again, nodded. Hiruzen continued thoughtfully, "Due to your clan's huge chakra reserve, you couldn't perform normal genjutsu. Usually, genjutsu specialists use their precise chakra control to disrupt the chakra flow of others, allowing them to present images and scenarios into the person's mind. However, the Uzumaki had much too much chakra to achieve that level of control, much like yourself. Therefore, because they wanted to be different from other shinobi, they developed a new type of genjutsu, a much more powerful type."

Naruto sat on the edge of his seat with excitement, wondering just how powerful his clan was to create a new type of genjutsu.

Hiruzen smiled and continued "Instead of disrupting chakra flow, they'd simply overpower it. Their powerful and large chakra reserve would completely overpower any shinobi who didn't have the reserves of a kage, and even kage struggle against it."

Naruto was amazed, his clan not only created a new style of shinobi techniques, but it was techniques only his clan could use. Naruto thought about this, and with a glint in his eye, he nodded in understanding once again.

Hiruzen sighed and began once again. "Your family lived in a different nation called Uzushiogakure, the village hidden by a Whirlpool. Due to their surrounding environment, many developed an affinity to water style jutsu much like Mist village. They also had one last perk that may be their most powerful. A bloodline royal members of the clan got. The Uzumaki chakra chains. They were among many things, unbreakable. Their main function was to drain chakra and trap enemies. Since you're the daughter of the royal princess of the Uzumaki, you will more than likely develop this bloodline as you release your chakra."

Naruto marveled at the idea of having a bloodline much like the Uchiha or Hyuga. He was excited and had begun bouncing in his seat. Hiruzen calmed the boy's nerves. "So, jiji. Where is my clan and can I meet them?" Naruto asked after finally sitting still. Sarutobi gave a saddened look. He explain to Naruto how the Uzumaki clan was wiped from existence by three great nations due to the fear of their genjutsu, chakra chains, and fuinjutsu.

Naruto was sad that he would never have the big family he so desired. He quickly discarded that feeling remembering something the old man and his mother mentioned several times. "What was special about our fuinjutsu? I read that it was basic knowledge to all shinobi."

Hiruzen nodded, once again impressed with the general knowledge of the 7 year old in front of him. "Yes. But, if you remember in your mothers letter, the Uzumaki took it to levels that are unheard of."

Naruto nodded with an "I see."

"Now about your mother." Naruto visibly brightened. He really wanted to know about his mother. "Your mother was a very, and I do mean very powerful ninja. She was so powerful that she was in the running for the next hokage. However, she unfortunately lost to who we know as the fourth. There were few ninjas in the world to rival her power. The only ones in our own village were the fourth, the three sannin, Fugaku of the Uchiha clan, and Hiashi of the Hyuga clan. And there's no telling who would win in any of those fights."

Naruto was star-struck. His mother was this powerful, and he had to live up to her name.

Sarutobi spoke of her rank in Anbu, her being the leader of the Anbu. Sarutobi decided it was time to end this conversation.

"Well Naruto-boy, you're seven now and will enter the academy in another month or so. What will you do with this information you received today?

Naruto paused for a moment to think about everything he had heard and learned about today. He knew what he wanted to do. After a smile of pure determination, Naruto let the hokage know of his final decision. "I'm going to become the strongest ninja to ever live, and the strongest Anbu to ever grace Konoha! I'll surpass my mother and all the other members of the Anbu, and I'll even surpass the hokage of previous generations. Then, I'll become the best genjutsu user the world has ever seen. I'll master fuinjutsu, genjutsu and my bloodline. This, this a promise of a lifetime."

Hiruzen smiled. This boy. This boy was just like his mother. Nearly a carbon copy of her. If he inherits her talent as well, with the blood of the fourth hokage blood running through him as well, he may just follow through on his promise. The old hokage simply nodded and reached for something inside his desk. It was a few scrolls. One said "basic Uzumaki genjutsu E to D rank. Basic fuinjutsu, E to D rank. Basic Kenjutsu, D rank. Calligraphy Basics. Chakra control basics."

Naruto asked the obvious question, "Is there no ninjutsu?" At this, Sarutobi chuckled. "Well, Naruto, your clan was a very prideful clan. They did not rely a great deal on ninjutsu. However, due to your mother that changed. Though I doubt you'll need many, basic ninjutsu is a must. But if you are to follow your mother's and your clan's example, you do not need more than 5 ninjutsu."

Naruto, though slightly disappointed he wouldn't be able to just fire off a crap ton of ninjutsu, understood that he was to embrace his clan pride and follow the example set for him. Naruto, thanked the hokage, and set out for a journey. A journey he wouldn't be able to turn from. He had exactly 4 months before the academy. He'd be the best, if for nothing else, simply to honor his clan and more importantly, his mother.
