After the drama, the Joestar family were provided a large tent to serve as their temporary quarters in the Safe Zone courtesy of general Ironwood while he and the others focused on the relief efforts and reconstruction. As they ate the rations provided for dinner, the Joestars started to discuss what they know.
"So, this really is a different world huh?" Joseph looks at the broken moon in the sky. "It's still hard to believe."
"I don't think I will get used to this sight…" Jonathan said. "Seeing the moon shattered… it feels like a bad omen."
"Right now, we should decide what our next move will be." Jotaro chimes in.
"I agree with Jotaro-san on this one." Josuke agrees.
Not long after, the Joestar family sat together at a small table with nine chairs spread out for them.
"These Grimm are ferocious creatures. They do not stop or even care about their fellow kind." Jonathan states.
"I saw one that looked like a gorilla throwing another like a baseball right at me." Jolyne said.
"I sensed no lifeforce in them. It was like looking at smoke that's been molded to look like an animal." GIorno adds. His Stand allows him to create life and, by extension, see life. In the case of Grimm, there was nothing to see at all. "However, they seem to rely on their senses just like any other living creature."
"My Stand was able to take the sight of the dragon monster." Gappy confirms this.
Joseph crosses his arms together. "I don't like this. These children shouldn't experience something like this… not when they're still so young."
"Agreed. No one should go through what they have." Jonathan agrees.
Jotaro looks at his ancestor. "Hey. You never told us what happened to that Maiden girl after you took down that Cinder chick. Where is she?
"There is no need to worry. She is safe."
Everyone turns to see a familiar hooded woman sitting on the other end of the table.
"Hello there!" Jericho waved.
"JERICHO!?"
"Surprised to see me? Well, I was in the neighborhood and decided to pop in to make a special delivery." Jericho told them.
"Special delivery?" Giorno asked.
Jericho reaches for her coat pocket and places something on the table. It is a small turtle with a bizarre key-shaped hole on top of his shell and golden key with a red gem inside it.
"Coco Jumbo!" Giorno exclaims.
Jojo blinks. "Is that a turtle?"
"Yeah, you got a problem with me being a turtle?" Coco Jumbo said.
Jojo and Josseph sprint out of their seats in surprise and hug each other. "AHHHHH! THE TURTLE TALKS!?"
"!?" Everyone is shocked by the sudden reveal.
Jotaro's even more surprised as he recognizes the voice. "... Polnareff?"
Turtle Polnareff smiles. "Oui. It's been a long time, my friend."
"Polnareff!?" Joseph pushes his younger self away and slams at the table before leaning forward. "Is that really you!?"
"Ah, Mr. Joestar! I'm happy to see you haven't changed a bit!" Polnareff exclaims.
"Wait… he was human before, right? How is he here?" Jolyne asks while pointing at the turtle. She remembered seeing the human Polnareff along with all of their allies back in the Fundamental World.
"He died back in Italy but his soul became permanently bound to Coco Jumbo." Giorno explains.
"Yes well, I believe this particular endeavor might be just too much for the eight of you, so I enlisted your allies to help you. Unfortunately, such an effort left me completely exhausted so instead of appearing in Vale, they are spread out all across Remnant. Sorry." Jericho pats Coco Jumbo's shell. "As for your friend here, he is still alive but his soul is still connected to the turtle, so he can communicate through it like a cell phone."
"Apparently I'm in a place called Mantle. And I can definitely say that I hate it here." Polnareff comments. "The city is pretty much an oversized slum with another city floating right on top of it and blocking all of the sunlight."
"Yeah, that would be the city of Atlas. The people up there are the very definition of egotistic." Jericho said.
"So, they're all a bunch of rich snubs, huh? Yippee…" Joyline says with absolutely no excitement at all.
"As for Jotaro's question, the Fall Maiden is in here." Jericho points to the red gem in the key.
Giorno knows what she means. Coco Jumbo's Stand, [Mr. President], has no combat ability whatsoever. Instead, it gives others access to a unique location accessed with an ornate key embedded within a transparent precious stone. The location resembles that of a hotel room, containing several pieces of comfortable furniture, a functioning television set and a refrigerator holding drinks. However, it does not include a bathroom.
"The girl is safe, but her condition is deteriorating fast. If nothing is done, she will not survive the next hour." Polnareff grimly said.
Giorno stands up. "I'll go, but I will need your help Josuke-kun."
Josuke nods and stands up. "No problem."
With that, the two walk up towards Coco Jumbo. Giorno touches the hand of the key and suddenly the two are sucked into the red gem.
"T-THEY JUST GOT EATEN BY THE TURTLE!?" Jojo dramatically exclaims.
Polnareff looks at Jojo. "Don't be such a drama queen, it's just the turtle's Stand at work. They'll be fine."
"Oh… right." Jojo calms down and takes his seat.
Jericho takes a seat. "Now then, I'd like to thank you all again for accepting my request. Not only have they saved the lives of so many, but also threw a wrench in Salem's overall schemes. However, due to this the timeline has begun to diverge."
"What does that mean?" Johnny asked.
"It means because of us, things won't happen the way they're supposed to." Jolyne grunts.
"Right you are. Originally, the attack would have claimed over 90% of the population of Vale. The Grimm and the White Fang massacred everything that they can see; human and Faunus alike." Jericho states.
"Seriously? They kill the same people they preach about protecting? I don't know if they're stupid or just stupid." Gappy said.
"That's just the tip of the iceberg. Remember Cinder Fall? If Johnathan hadn't stopped her from killing Amber, Cinder would have become the Fall Maiden, killing Ozpin and Pyrrha Nikos when they tried to stop her. But in the end, it was Ruby Rose who put a stop to her." Jericho continues.
Jotaro arches an eyebrow. "... how?" He didn't believe such a young and innocent girl could stop an obvious megalomaniac.
Jericho looks at the Stardust Crusader. "Tell me, do you remember the color of Ruby's eyes?"
"They're… silver." Jolyne replies.
The other Joestars have noticed it, too. Silver is a very bizarre choice for eye color, but something told them that she wasn't just wearing contacts.
There was something… strange about her eyes. Strange, but powerful.
"Ruby is part of a tribe known as the Silver-Eyed Warriors. They are humans who were blessed by the God of Light, one of the twin gods who created Remnant." Jericho states. "It is the only thing that can instill fear in the Grimm. The eyes are able to turn a Grimm to stone or simply turn them into dust. In the original timeline, Ruby activated her Silver Eyes for the first time after seeing Cinder kill Pyrrha which turned the dragon to stone gravely wounded Cinder."
"Wait, why was she affected? You said her eyes could only hurt Grimm." Johnny asked.
"It is because of the Grimm inside her." This reveal shocked everyone. "Salem had created a Grimm capable of stealing the magic from a Maiden and implanted it into Cinder's body. This was how she was able to steal half of Amber's power; she would have gotten away with it all if Qrow hadn't shown up when he did."
Jonathan felt sick to his stomach at the whole idea. "To think she would go this far…"
"Cinder Fall is the type of person who will sacrifice everything and everyone for power. Her colleagues are simply expendable pawns in her quest for power." Jericho said.
Jotaro, Jonathan, and Joseph all narrow their eyes. This sounds exactly like something Dio would do.
Is she meant to be this world's version of Dio? Will she be just as dangerous as he was?"
"Huh, so the pawn uses other pawns. Ironic." Jolyne remarks.
"I spoke to General Ironwood earlier. He has Emerald Sustrei, Mercury Black, and Cinder Fall secured and under 24-hour surveillance on his airship. Her accomplice Roman Torchwick was nowhere to be found and while the surviving White Fang have been rounded up and arrested, Adam Taurus escaped and is on the run." Joseph explains.
"Emerald and Mercury won't give the general any information since neither of them know Salem or where she is located. Cinder won't budge either since she is too arrogant to talk and she fears to incur Salem's wrath, more so than she already has with this botched operation." She continues. "As for the bull, there's no need to worry. Even though he escaped, he will not return to the White Fang out of embarrassment and fear of being looked down upon by his brethren due to his humiliation at your hands. Not only that, but Sienna Khan will be actively hunting him down."
"Wait, why?" Jojo asks.
"Because Adam went rogue. Sienna was completely unaware of Adam's activities in Vale, and she will demand retribution for his treachery." Jericho states. "He is a spiteful and hateful man who would see all humans massacred in droves just to satiate his bloodlust. He also leads a splinter group of the White Fang who follow his mindset who will no doubt kill anyone who even tries to defy them."
"... why? What would make someone so young harbor such hatred for the human race?" Johnathan asked.
"I've explained to you all how humans discriminate against the Faunus. What I didn't tell you is what happens to people like Adam, who get the short end of the stick." Jericho began. "Adam's family worked in the Dust mines owned by the Schnee Dust Corporation, the #1 distributor in all things Dust related. He himself worked in the mines as a kid and was treated like a slave by SDC employees." She summons [Million Miles] and projects the living conditions of the people working in the minds.
"Oh my god…" Joseph was completely flabbergasted, and not in the usual over dramatic way.
"They… do this to people…?" Johnny felt sick.
Jotaro, Jolyne, and Jojo grip on the edges of the table, their eyes full of righteous rage at the slashing and beating the guards gave to the miners.
… but what they saw next truly made their blood boil.
"Is… is that guard branding that child…?" Gappy slowly points to one of the projections.
Though they could hear it, they could feel the child screaming in agony as the words "SDC" were seared on their body.
"This is a common practice in the SDC mines. If you misbehave or even talk back to the guards, you will be held down and branded by guards in any place of your bodies. This is done to let the other miners know not to defy the will of the SDC or else they will be met with severe consequences." Jericho grimly states. "Adam also has one, he was branded right over his left eye as a child. It is the main reason why he always wears a mask."
Jolyne's Stand arms appear and smash the table but Jericho manages to grab Coco Jumbo before he falls. "THOSE SICK BASTARDS! HOW DARE THEY DO THIS TO A CHILD!? TO ANYONE!? AND THEY DO IT WITH A FUCKING SMILE ON THEIR FACES!? I'LL KILL THEM!"
"JOLYNE!" [Star Platinum] appears and grabs a hold of Jolyne's arms. "CALM DOWN!"
"DON'T TELL TO CALM DOWN! THOSE BASTARDS DESERVE WHAT THEY GET!" Jolyne shouts back.
"I know how you feel Jolyne, but now is not the time to let your emotions get the better of you!" Jotaro exclaims. "Now. Calm. Down."
Jolyne looks at her father for what feels like eternity before finally subsiding. "Fuck…"
[Star Platinum] returns to Jotaro and the Stardust Crusader glares at the hooded woman. "You better have a plan to make them pay… or I will."
"In due time, Jotaro-san. In due time." Jericho assures him.
Just then, Giorno and Josuke come out of [Mr. President]. They look to find everyone wearing a disturbed expression and the table completely smashed to bits.
"Wow, what the heck happened here?" Josuke asks only to jolt at the glare Jolyne's giving him.
"None of your business." Jolyne growls.
"O-Okay…"
"So, what's the condition of the Fall Maiden?" Joseph asks, trying to avert some of the atmosphere.
"She is safe though we weren't expecting her injuries to be that bad." Josuke remarks.
"Her soul was completely ripped in half, her lifeforce was leaking out like a faucet. Not to mention she was suffering from organ failure, necrosis, and severe nerve damage." Giorno adds. He was appalled when GER revealed the state of her soul, but even more disturbed by the multiple afflictions her body was suffering from.
"There was also this black sludge that was inside her. It was stopping [Crazy Diamond] from fully healing her." Josuke adds. The moment his Stand punched the girl, he could feel something latched onto his arm and attempted to spread but it quickly disappeared the moment he pulled away.
"This sludge… Do you still have it?" Jericho suddenly asks.
"Um… well…" He inspects his clothes and finds something on his sleeve. "Here it is. Man, this stuff is really nasty." He raises his hand but someone grabs it.
"Don't. I don't know what'll happen if you touch it." [Million Miles] takes its hand and wipes the sleeve. The black tar immediately reacts and tries to infect it but is immediately contained and sent away. "I'll study it and see what I can find."
Joseph lets out a sight, the tension taking a toll on his old body. "So… what now?"
"Now… you rest. You've all had a long day, and you've earned it after all you've been through. In the meantime, I'll go examine that sludge and see what I can find. Amber always dies before the cause of her condition is examined so it's a good opportunity to see what Salem is cooking." Jericho begins walking towards the exit. "Oh… and one more thing." She turns to the Joestar family. "You must keep Team RWBY and JNPR together."
Jotaro arches an eyebrow. "Why them?"
Jericho pauses for a moment. "... because their destinies are deeply intertwined with this universe. Should they die, then this world will have no future. I suggest you train them before that time comes." She then leaves without alerting any of the guards stationed there.
The Joestar family stares at the tent entrance in silence, not knowing how exactly to handle her words.
"... is no one seriously gonna explain what the heck happened to the table!?" Josuke demands.
Jotaro sighs and adjusts his cap. "Yare yare daze…"
The sun slowly rises on the horizon. Its warm rays wash over the ruins of Vale and the Safe Zone where the survivors are staying.
Joseph steps out of the Joestar tent, a mug firmly in his hand as he looks at the horizon. "Ahh~ there's nothing like drinking a cup of coffee while watching the sunrise." He sips his coffee but then something appears in the corner of his eye. "Hm?"
He turns to the direction and sees a figure running towards the exit of the Safe Zone.
"[Hermit Purple]!" Joseph raises his arm and multiple, purple, thorn-covered vines that spawn from his hands and charge forward.
"!?" The figure can only turn as the vines wrap themselves around their waist and pull them towards him.
"It's you!" Joseph exclaims as the figure is revealed to be a struggling Blake Belladonna.
O-Oh, hello…" Blake asks sheepishly.
Joseph narrows his eyes. "What are you doing running around so early in the morning?"
"None of your business." Blake bites back.
"Don't test me, young lady. Now I want a straight answer from you yesterday." Joseph warns her as golden electricity builds up around his hand.
Blake knew she was cornered, she can see that this old man was serious. He had an aura of experience that will put most Huntsmen to shame; they all did.
After what felt like an eternity, Blake spoke.
"I-It's my fault that this happened." Blake admits.
"What are you talking about?" Joseph asks.
"I'm the reason Adam attacked Beacon." Blake replied.
Joseph looks at Blake before his gaze slowly moves to her head, more specifically, the large black bow adoring her head. "... you're a Faunus."
Blake nods with a defeated expression. "I… Adam and I were partners… then I ran… ran like a coward…!" Tears begin to stream down her face. "I don't want my friends to suffer because of my sins… so it would be better if I disappear…"
As Joseph listens to her words, his mind flashes back to his younger days with his best friend Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli. They had a rocky relationship at first, but he was a man of character and very caring towards his friends, enough to sacrifice himself so he could live… something that he will forever be thankful for 'til the day he dies.
He could see the same great love and care Caesar had within her, that same fire that drove him to fight the Pillar Man one-on-one. Yet that determination was buried under mountains of self-loathing and guilt as well as her fear of Adam.
So, he did what any grown adult will do in this situation.
*BONK!*
"Ow!" Blake hisses at the large bump on her head.
"You stupid brat! Do you really think running away will solve everything!? All you'll be doing is break your friends' hearts!" Joseph exclaims.
"But it's my fault this happened! Yang almost died because of me!" Blake cries.
"And you think she'll be better off if you disappear!? I bet she'll look everywhere just to beat some sense into you, you scaredy cat!" Joseph retorts.
Blake tries to argue back but the words don't come. He was right, that is something Yang would do.
Joseph takes a deep breath and calms down. "Look, Blake right? Running away like this won't solve your problems, it'll just do the exact opposite. You can only run for so long until there's nowhere left to go."
Blake looks at Joseph directly. "Then… tell me what should I do? How can I save my friends from my past?"
Joseph closes eyes for a moment before opening them. "I have no idea!"
"... HUH!?" A flabbergasted Blake said.
"I have no idea what to tell you. After all, it's your life in the end and the choice falls onto you." Joseph told her.
"..." Blake just gives the old man a look.
Joseph then decides to use another method. "Tell me, how was your experience here in Beacon?"
Blake blinks, surprised by the question. "It… was good?"
"Did you make any friends?"
"Yeah…"
"Do you love your friends?"
"I do… more than anything." Blake admits.
"You want to protect them, right? No matter what? Then you should stay with them." Joseph said. "If that bull guy really does come back, then you should fight him together instead of by yourself. You need to be more open with your friends, they will fight for you no matter your past."
Blake's eyes widen as her head dips down. "I-" However, she is interrupted by the sounds of her Scroll.
"You may want to answer that. It might be your friends wondering where you are." Joseph dismisses [Hermit Purple].
Blake takes out her Scroll and sees the caller ID is from Ruby Rose and answers it. "Hello…?"
"Blake! Where are you!? We woke up and you weren't in your bed!" Ruby's loud and high-pitched voice rings from the other end.
Joseph rubs his ears. "Man, that little girl can scream."
"I'm fine, Ruby." Blake tries to come up with something quickly. "I just… wanted to take a nice walk…"
"Oh well, that's nice but listen-Yang, what are you doing!? Let go of my Scroll!" Blake can hear the sounds of struggling as the two half-sisters fight for the Scroll until it ends with a thud followed by an "Ouchie!"
"Blake!? Where the hell did you go!? Whatever, Weiss' father suddenly showed up out of nowhere and just took her! We tried to get her back but we were threatened at gunpoint by his guards! You have to save her!" Yang exclaims.
"Yang! I was going to tell her that!" Ruby whines.
Joseph smirks. "Well, it seems like your friend is in trouble. Are you going to run away now?"
Blake looks at Joseph before turning her attention back to the Scroll. "Don't worry, girls. I'll get Weiss back." She hangs up the call and stands up. "I won't let my friends suffer…" She gives the old Joestar a fierce look. "I will for the people I love, even if that means having to fight my fears."
Joseph nods. "Well said, though I can still sense some fear in you. We'll work on that when we get to it." Joseph takes a step forward. "Well, kitty cat, lead the way."
Jacquess Schnee drags his daughter to his personal Bullhead. "Come Weiss, it's time to go home."
"Let me go! I want to stay!" Weiss shouts.
Jacques just growls. She is just like Winter, rebellious, undisciplined, and an embarrassment to the Schnee name. They inherited it from his father-in-law, that senile old fool. He didn't have the willpower to elevate the SDC to greatness like he did and in the end he died as he lived: a naive and sanctimonious loser who didn't understand the real world like he did.
"You will cease this foolishness at once, Weiss. You are returning to Atlas and that's final!" Jacques shouts.
"WEISS!" They turn to see Yang and Ruby running towards them.
"Ruby! Yang!" Weiss cries out their names.
Jacques scoffs. "This is the sort of person you acquaint yourself with, Weiss? I am fairly disappointed."
"What's that supposed to mean, pal!?" Yang bark.
"It's just as you heard, little girl. My daughter clearly has been surrounded by all sorts of bad influences."
"We're not bad!" Ruby yells.
Jacques narrows his eyes. "I suggest you stay silent, girl. Or else I will make your life very unpleasant."
But Ruby didn't back down, as did Yang. The sisters stare defiantly at the Schnee patriarch as his patience grows more and more thin by the second.
'Those eyes… those insufferable eyes…!' Jacques sneers in his mind. "I will be taking my daughter home, where it's safe."
"And I'm saying she's staying." Yang counters.
"To what? A miserable school that 'trains' a bunch of emotional and hormonal teenagers? Please, if this school couldn't stop a bunch of rabid animals and a couple of Grimm then this school should have been destroyed." Jacques said.
Ruby, Yang, Weiss, and everyone in the area who heard glares at the CEO with visible rage. This bastard dares to call everyone weak after what happened… what they've DONE!? WHAT THEY LOST!?
"Shut… the fuck… up!" Yang's eyes turn red. "You have NO RIGHT to say that!"
"I have every right, peasant, I am a Schnee and you will show me respect." Jacques states.
"Respect is earned, old man." Yang growls and takes a step forward.
Jacques arches an eyebrow. "You're approaching me? Even knowing who I am, you still insist on raising your hand against me?"
"I can't rescue Weiss unless I get closer." Yang retorts as she and Ruby walk forward.
The guards raise their weapons at the girls.
"Yang, Ruby just go! You don't have to do this!" Weiss cries to her friends.
"What the bloody hell is going on here!?"
Everyone turns to see Joseph and Blake running towards them.
"Blake! Mr. Joestar!" Ruby smiles.
Yang crosses her arms and goes "mom mode". "And just where were you, young lady?"
Blake just rolls her eyes. "Like I said, a walk."
"Yeahuh. Look I know all the Joestars are all hot as hell, but could at least not pick the old man?" Yang asks.
"Hey! I may be old but I'm still a hit with the ladies!" Joseph argues.
Yang snorts.
"It's true!" Joseph adds.
"Uh… guys?" Weiss' voice brought everyone back to reality.
Joseph turns his neck and sees Jacques Schnee. "So, you're the face behind the SDC." He walks up to him, his height alone dwarfs the CEO's. "I was expecting someone bigger."
The SDC guards rush in, their sights trained on the elder Joestar.
"Out of the way." He grabs the two guards by their shoulders and lifts them up, then throws them away like yesterday's trash.
"Wow…" Yang along with the others were completely awestruck by his display of strength.
Jacques' legs tremble as he continues his march. "Y-You can't do this! Do you know who I am!? I am Jacques-"
"Shut up!" Joseph shouts, making the CEO cower in fear.
"You have a lot of nerve showing your face to me. You are a horrible excuse for a father and CEO! Just looking at you makes me want to kick your ass!" Joseph exclaims.
"I-I don't even know who you are!" Jacques shouts.
"Oh you will, now go fly back to that hole you crawled out of and don't bother us again, Jacky." Joseph said. "But the young lady stays with us."
"She is my daughter! My property! I can do whatever I want with her!" Jacques yells only to get sucker-punched to the face courtesy of Joseph.
"How dare you… she's not your slave, you bastard!" Joseph shouts.
Weiss, seeing an opportunity, stumps on his father's foot with her heels, accidentally stabbing the man. He screams as he lets go of Weiss and she runs towards the others.
"Grr… fine! Stay in this cesspool, Weiss, I could care less!" Jacques stumbles towards his Bullhead as his guards soon follow.
The girls sigh in relief… until someone breaks the peace.
"You're such a disappointment Weiss… just like your mother." Jacques said.
Weiss flinches at the mention of his mother.
"[Hermit Purple]!" Joseph uses his vines to whip the CEO right in his ass, making him jump inside as the hatch closes behind him.
The people cheer as the Bullhead lifts off and takes to the skies. Ruby and Yang hug Weiss but to their surprise Blake jumps in and hugs all three of them, all while tears of happiness stream down her face.
Joseph smiles at the scene. The girl is starting to break the shackles of her past.
Into them, Jericho is seen holding up a Scroll as it replays everything that took place a few minutes ago.
Meanwhile, in the background, Jericho is seen holding up a Scroll as it records everything that's taken place.
"With this, phase one of my plan is complete." She presses "SENT" and the file begins to upload. "I am so happy the CCT tower survived in this timeline~"
Author Notes
And with that comes the end of this chapter. It's pretty obvious that Jericho has an ulterior motive for bringing the Joestars to Remnant. As to what that is, well, now that would be telling.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy this chapter and look forward to more. It has been over five months since the last update, but man I am ready for more.
