:)
The man opened his eyes.
He was dangling right above a boulder. The tentacles had latched onto the rocks in the hole and saved him. They then snapped right off and he landed on the boulder.
Ow…
You're alive? I thought you died right then and there. The voice said.
Barely, but where am I now?
Underground, maybe about 2000 meters down from the surface.
He lifted himself up and slid down the boulder. Surrounded by the rocks were huge dumps of trash, consisting of scrap metal, broken weapons, cloth, wood planks, and more.
So this is where the kingdom dumps all their trash in, lovely.
He dug himself out of the garbage and dropped down onto a ledge. To his surprise, he had landed on a patch of grass, with blooming foliage sprouting from the dirt. He took a long look over the ledge and soon discovered the cave was covered with plants. Each little cliff was laid with a patch of luscious green moss. From the ceiling, huge vines intertwined and dangled down. Funky-looking trees grew in the walls and cliffs. A tiny waterfall fell down the cliff and filled a pond of deadly piranhas.
The man climbed over the ledge and slid down the cliff onto a flat meadow of exotic bushes. The man already despised the surface jungle, but having to experience walking through the humid temperature and dense, wet foliage again was a nightmare. He tried raising down the plants so he could see but then a swarm of moss-covered hornets flew down onto the trees, so he quickly ducked back into the suffocating leaves. As he looked up to see if the hornets were gone, he saw the cavern ceiling was infested with huge green spiders as big as a man, crawling everywhere in sight.
Where do I go? He asked.
Just try to live. The voice replied. Now that I think about it you should've just stayed in the cell.
He climbed up a few rocks and jumped on a boulder suspended in mid-air by thick vines. He searched for another platform to jump on, but something caught his eye within the overgrowing shadows beside him. A faint white glare shined through, staring at him intently. Suddenly the light lunged right at him with a velocity faster than a bullet. He quickly jumped back near the meadow. The creature had torn through the vines holding the boulder and landed right in front of him with great impact. It let out a deafening roar that made the ground shake.
A giant tortoise. The voice said.
The man immediately slid down into the meadow and ran from the foe. The tortoise tucked into its shell and lunged into the air, ricocheting through the cavern walls like a killer pinball. The ground shook as trees got their branches snapped and plants were crushed.
C'mon, c'mon, c'mon… where are the tentacles? What did I ever do to it?
You seemed to have invaded its territory, giant tortoises are extremely aggressive and durable. If it lands on you you'll be crushed into a pile of flesh. Their hunger for death is insatiable.
He reached the end of the meadow and climbed over the cliff before the tortoise demolished it into pebbles. The man leaped through the rock islands and slid into a tunnel dug into the wall. strange yellow bulb-like plants overgrown the tunnel. But then suddenly they popped out of the leaves, the bulbs unhinging into a pair of razor-sharp jaws. A vine-like cord tethered them to the plant as all of them popped out and tried to bite down on the man. One of the plants snatched his right arm, its teeth digging through his skin. But the man managed to turn around and punch the plant with maximum force, breaking its top jaw and letting him loose before the other caught on. His heart beated faster than ever when he heard the thunder tremors of the tortoise bouncing into the tunnel, slowly approaching.
A jumped out of the tunnel into another cavern, this one filled with phosphorescent spores. The tortoise bursted out of the tunnel, like an erupting volcano, carrying the guts of many of those plants with it. He climbed up upon the ledges leading to another hole before the tortoise destroyed it. The man fell on a huge tree, the lime green leaves cushioning his fall. The tortoise dropped down onto the tree branches, causing them to crack. The man tried to find another hole or tunnel, but there were none. He'd reached a dead end. The tortoise growled as it slowly inched forward. Before the man could blink the tortoise leaped right above him an–
"..."
Utter dread filled the man's mind, his body twitching in horror. Words couldn't explain how atrocious he felt. Blood stained the entire front of his body, trickling down through the leaves below. The tentacles had ripped the tortoise out of the shell and shredded it into horrid pieces, its body parts skewered through the tentacles like a nightmarish kebab. Blood and guts poured out the shreds like a waterfall of gore.
I'm…sorry it had to be like this. The voice said remorsefully.
Blood…Blood…too much…I ca-can't TAKE THIS ANYMORE. The man thought in rage.
The tree began the shake. The shrill noise of insect wings stuffed his ears. Hundreds of hornets, spiders, bats, slimes, and tortoises surrounded him like a battalion. All the commotion had attracted a huge group.
Blood…Blood…I can't control it…
REN, YOU HAVE TO CALM DOWN, OR THIS WHOLE PLACE IS GOING TO FALL APART.
He couldn't. The hatred and dread inside him burned like a bonfire, each time he stared down at his blood-covered hands the fire grew bigger and bigger. The jungle creatures inched closer second by second, slowly approaching. He kept trying to calm down, but he wasn't in control anymore. The tentacles were. They stiffened and tried to puncture through the ceiling but the man took hold of the tentacle, grabbing onto it with all his strength.
I…won't…let you. You cannot destroy this place. You will not. I control you. He thought with confidence.
With no strength left, the man let go to catch his breath. But to his surprise, the tentacle stood exactly still.
I-I think they listen to me now!
They moved in response to his thoughts and extended when his mind told them to. The swarm of jungle creatures began to swarm around him, preparing to attack.
Stay calm, Ren or the rage could still come. We need to clear a path back to the jungle surface, first by ridding some of these creatures.
With a simple swoop of the arm, the tentacles charged at the enemies like spears thrown into the air, gruesomely impaling the hornets the bats. The man shuttered with disgust but quickly recovered. Several tortoises leaped in front of him like falling meteors, which the remaining tentacles wrapped around and slammed into the walls. The man felt something wrong, deep down within the hatred and suffering, a sliver of enjoyment shined through, which quickly grew. A sly grin spread through his face, watching his foes die under his feet gave him certain happiness.
I know it doesn't feel right, but it is natural. We do not live in a world of peace, wars are raging everywhere. In Terraria, doing the wrong is the only way to survive. But you've done quite the number on them already, fleeing is your choice.
The man felt his energy dampening and the tentacles were shrinking in power, so he latched back in the tunnel and made his escape.
Kade sat on the makeshift bed, slowly recalling what had happened.
How would I have known he had this much power?
The holes in his chest had been patched up but the fractured ulna and ribs needed patience. He stared down at his arm and slowly watched the pink grow back into normal skin. He took another potion from the tray. Half of his face and both his legs were wrapped with bandages, his empty eyesockets stuffed with paper to dry out the blood.
I hope he's okay...
