Ren…

Ren…

REN!

The man woke up in a frenzy.

Hey! Don't shout.

I'VE CALLED YOU OVER 5 TIMES.

Okay okay, I'm up…where are we again?

You finally reached the surface after climbing up for a day, and then immediately went to sleep.

He got up and dug himself out of the wet bush he slept upon. His mood quickly fell down as he realized he was back on the jungle surface. The man regained his energy and decided to climb a nearby tree to take a look at where the kingdom was. He tried to latch out the tentacles but they didn't pop out of his hand. He concentrated harder and eventually, a tiny sliver came through, but then quickly retracted one he let go, leaving a burning sting on his fingers.

What? Why don't they work?

I'm not sure, your mana is at a stable rate but they refuse to cooperate.

The man rummaged around the dense foliage until he stumbled upon a dirt trail dug out in a clearing. From the new view, he could see the sky was covered with ships, shining lights across the jungle trees and ground. Even from afar, he could hear footsteps.

They've deployed a huge search for you, they won't just let such a dangerous thing like you roam around the kingdom free.

"HEY!" A loud voice shouted.

A group of soldiers surrounded him, heavy laser rifles pointed right at him. Soon all the ships in the air were swarmed above him, they opened the doors and revealed even more soldiers walking out, guns aimed right at his head. The whole army was standing around him, all dressed in hallowed armor and ready to shoot. He could see Lloyd crouching atop a tree branch, staring daggers at him.

Well, at least he's okay…

"HALT, You are now a prisoner of our exalted ruler." One of them said as they stepped in front of the fleet.

The man could tell they were the general since they were heavily protected with auric armor and carried a primed soma and brimstone-edged spear.

We might be in some trouble right now, do the tentacles work at all?

No, but it doesn't matter.

The man slowly raised both his hands above his head. One of the soldiers stepped out of the crowd. He grabbed a pair of large metal rings, with a chain locking them together, and quickly snapped them onto his wrist. The soldiers lifted up their guns, but then slowly put them down after the rings were cuffed on.

You're just going to turn yourself in? You're going to get executed!

Oh c'mon…Do you really think Yharim's just gonna kill something like me? Also, why do these cuffs hurt so much?

They have special mana dampening solutions built into them. Needles inject the liquid into you so you can't use any magic, that's why they hurt.

The soldiers spoke nothing and tugged the man into a ship. On the back, a huge metal door lifted up and they threw him into the cell. The room was dimly lit, and crates and cargo were scattered all over the place. The man slowly squirmed himself to the wall and sat.

Hey, we've been so busy I completely forgot what to ask. Who are you? How are you in my mind? Why me?

C'mon please, answer!

Sigh…tell me later.

After a few minutes, the ship stopped its movement and slowly docked onto a platform. The metal door slowly opened and the soldiers grabbed the man with huge force. Once exiting the ship he had realized they had landed on one of the open balconies of Yharim's castle. The soldiers tugged the man into the doorway and up many flights of stairs. Before he could recognize it they were in the same exact hallway where he met Yharim a couple of weeks ago. The gilt furniture blinded his eyes. The soldiers dragged him upon the carpet like a ragdoll, and toward the door frame. Yharim was seated on his throne all the way at the back of the huge room. A highly decorated desk was placed in front of him, containing stacks of papers the king was writing on. Yharim heard the footsteps and looked up at the man.

"Your royal majesty, we have delivered the runaway prisoner who caused the massacre." The general said

"Good, release him from his restraints, I have important business to tell him."

"But your majesty, won't h-"

"Release him," Yharim replied sharply.

The soldier quickly took off the metal cuffs and walked away from the throne room. Yharim did a simple hand gesture and the desk slid back from him, then sank through the floor.

"You, how about we talk a bit."

"It's Laurence, your ma-majesty" The man replied

"No need to address me like that, but Laurence…why do I feel like I remember that name?"

Yharim lifted his hand up and one of the doors slid open, revealing a huge balcony containing a small garden. He then stood up from the throne and went through the door. The man quickly followed him outside. He looked down upon the kingdom. Hundreds of buildings had collapsed, leaving broken wood and fallen bricks scattered all over the roads. Smoke wafted through the air, as the people down tried to clear away the rubble.

"So, you've been busy," Yharim said.

"All the deaths I caused here, all the lives I've ruined, Is it even worth having me alive?"

"You were never the cause of this, This was never your fault, none of this is. I should've been less reckless with your treatment.

"Is Kade alright?"

"A few fractured bones, several severe flesh wounds, but he's healing nicely."

"That's good to know."

"Laurence, for the safety of my kingdom and people, I cannot let you stay here. I'm moving you to a location more remote and discreet, so no more harm can happen. I'll notify you whenever I need your assistance. We'll discuss more tomorrow."

Yharim grabbed something from his coat and handed it to the man. It was a silver mirror.

"Wait wha-"

In an instant, the mirror began to shine brighter than anything he had seen and then the man disappeared from the balcony like magic. He then found himself in a cave of sorts. The rock surrounding him was pitch black, with bright blue crystals jutting out. The temperature was immensely colder than the jungle atmosphere.

Where the hell am I?

Somewhere near the abyss, I think.

The abyss? What's that?

The deepest part of Terraria's ocean, it's the gateway to the void, a place where no man has ever been to.

The cave was riddled with sharp stalactites, rock pillars, and cliffs. Small drops of water trickled down the stone.

Maybe you should know who I am now,

Then who are you?

I've been stuck down here for thousands of years, waiting for anything that could reach me. And then I found you. Finally, somebody who could help me.

What? What are you talking about?

What I'm saying is that I am Cthulhu.
