The man laid on the voidstone cliff, slowly conflicting his memories.
Yharim had healed the injuries the mimic put on him and then sent him back to the abyss. Something about the situation scarred him. He didn't feel it was just the injuries, more of a feeling. A feeling that told him at that moment he was completely helpless, that the mimic would murder him no matter what. He knew the moment It got too closed Yharim would fly in, but it still echoed through his mind. He grabbed a pebble and threw it at the cavern ceiling.
Why do I feel this, Cthulhu? Why did I feel like I was all on my one, that I didn't have anything to use against?
I cannot search through past memories, most of all of them were suddenly erased through your mutations, maybe somehow we can find a way to recover them.
The man dropped off the cliff and down onto the ground, heading towards the strange spell tome. The alchemical circle on the ground still smoked a ring of fire, which he quickly put out with a step of the foot. The man grabbed the tome from the crevice and flipped the second page.
So, what else do we need?
Hmm...let me think...wait...do you feel that?
The ground began to quake. pebbles vibrated as the stalactites dropped down and shattered. Paired with the noise of the rocks rumbling were ghostly bellows of agony that bounced across the cavern. The man looked down at the ground, the tiny crevices where water accumulated were now replaced with a dark red liquid. He looked to the tunnel that led to the abyss; the water was also dark red. The man sank one finger into the red water. The result horrified him.
Its blood, what the hell died here?
No, nothing died, A blood moon is rising...
A blood moon?
It's a nocturnal event made from an ancient god's curse. It only happens a few times a year, and tonight seems to be one. Quickly, travel to Yharims jungle palace using the mirror, there is something there we can gain from the blood moon that'll come hugely reliable in the future. I'll fill you in with the details later.
I don't even know how this thing works, how am I supposed to travel there?
Just hold the mirror and try to concentrate solely on your destination, don't think of anything else.
He grabbed the magic gun and took out the mirror and held it tighter than ever. He cleared away all other thoughts and replaced them with just the castle. He saw his body start to deteriorate into blue particles as it shined brighter and brighter. Soon the man's whole body was engulfed in the blue light before his vision flashed into bright white, as before. In just a few seconds he was warped to the kingdom. The man landed laying on a purple carpet and knew exactly where he was.
This is...Kade's carpet...and this is his apartment. Why am I here?
Nothing much has changed since he'd last been there. The colorful plants and flowers that once engulfed the entire room began to wilt a tiny bit, and all the lights in every room were shut off, leaving only the gloomy red moonlight to shine. Kade was nowhere in sight or sound, so he stalked into the living room and kitchen. The man grabbed a few slices of a stale loaf of bread and ate it since he hadn't eaten anything for the past week. After the snack, he walked toward the door next to the exit. Kade had gone in there several times during his stay but the man never knew what was inside there. The man slowly unlocked the door and turned on the light.
Inside was a small garden, with even more tons of colorful flora. Around the entire room were clay pots of all sizes, containing rainbow flowers, blue cacti and ferns, moss, and a bright yellow tree stuck in the corner. In the middle was a large wooden box that contained pink tomatoes, radishes, and carrots. On the side was a table with a glass terrarium with pearl-white gravel and blue moss and plants scattered over broken branches. The man looked under the table and seized the small watering can. He sprinkled a few drops of water onto the foliage.
Suddenly, the noise of loud shouts and gunshots came flying into the window. The man peeled away the curtain and was immediately blinded by the crimson moon. Down on the ground, he could see soldiers rushing up onto the city walls and loading their weapons. The rest of the soldiers were directing citizens into shafts under the ground and some are also barricading the city entrances.
Ren, we need to quit wasting time. We only have a couple of hours to collect as much as we can. Just quickly get down to the surface.
The man quickly rushed out the door and slid down the stairs. The castle was completely empty of any people, his footsteps echoing through the main entrance hall. He slowly opened the gigantic gilt door and gate. Outside the only people were the soldiers among the walls, quickly loading their weapons and shooting outside. The air that once was a misty blue was now a crimson red. The blood moon peeked from a ring of red clouds, as blood rained from the skies.
"FIRE!" A soldier said.
All of the others loaded their guns and shot beams of red lightning into the jungle canopy. Loud thuds of the monsters banged against the gates and more soldiers frantically barricaded them with rocks and steel pipes. Along with the loud banging were screams of terror and splatters of flesh and blood. The soldiers shouted again along with more beams of red.
How are we going to get out?
There's a section of the wall not cluttered with soldiers, when they turn their heads, quickly climb out.
He did what he was told. When the soldiers turned their heads, he bolted for the ladder leaned against the wall, and hopped out. The man then ducked behind a nearby fern. The walls were overthrown by an uncountable amount of strange corpses. They all had grotesque amounts of red flesh melded into their skin, with bright yellow eyes and slender claws. The entire outside of the city wall was engulfed by a horrific ring of them, all trying to climb atop while soldiers did their best to stop them. Dismembered eyes swarmed the skies along with balls of red flesh.
So...what do I need to gather here?
Blood orbs...orbs of magic that curse the monsters here and turn them into...these. They can be extremely reliable when making brews and serums for future needs. We can't collect them here, since the soldiers will surely spot us. So...we will have to adventure out and collect them ourselves.
The man took out the magic gun and began venturing forward. Everything was blanketed by red mist. The red moon shined through the canopy leaves sprinkling crimson glitters of light onto the soil. blood drizzled down the ferns and onto his head. All around him the noise of splattering blood and flesh surrounded his ears. He pushed away a few leaves apart to reveal a single corpse, slowly feasting on a carcass near a cliff. He deliberately approached the monster, tiptoeing towards it with every second. The man slowly charged up the gun, and small lightning particles crackled at its barrel. The zombie was utterly unaware, still feeding on its meal, as h-
(*crack*)
The corpse hastily turned around and lunged at the man befor-
*BOOM!*
A huge thunderclap slammed across the area. Arcs of lightning swirled and swirled around the corpse as it was turned into a bubbling puddle of soup. Crude amounts of flesh were sent flying into the trees above and into the man's face.
Uhg...it got all over me...wait...what's that?
The man dug through the molten carcass and found a glowing crimson orb of blood. His veins glowed purple again while holding the mysterious object.
Is this it?
Yes, try to collect as much as you can.
The ground began to rumble as it did before. Out from the soil rose more undead, all shrieking in agony before charging directly at him. The man charged the gun again, firing out a flurry of electrical bolts onto the corpse and liquifying 2 into mush. The corpses approached faster than it would charge, so he bashed the weapon against their skulls, but they quickly snapped back in place. All the corpses began to charge at him with full speed, claws out to tear him apart. The man rapidly fled along with the other orbs as more and more corpses clawed out the ground and joined the swarm. The man stopped and charged up the gun for more shots. As the swarm lunged at him again he sent out another loud thunderclap which murders five of the many. Along with all the corpses came several floating eyes and flesh clusters.
How do I kill all of these things?
He charged the gun one more time but one of the corpses knocked it right out of his arms, but the man was able to strike the corpse back, causing all of the others to tumble down as well. He snatched the gun from the ground and fried as many of the eyes and corpses as he could and ran off with the orbs before the others struggled back up. The man frantically stood his ground after witnessing what was before him.
It was the lake. The lake where Kade had brought him to and where he met Lloyd. It looked like a living nightmare, the falls ran a dark red which corrupted into a pure black, as if he was staring into the Abyss. There was nowhere to run. There was nowhere to hide. The same feeling crushed down the man's mind, But this time it was true. The corpses behind him stalked closer and closer. If he ran back, he would be surely devoured by the corpses, but if he jumps down into the lake of blood, no one knew what could be lurking within those depths. The corpses stalked even closer, growling with each bloody step. Before he decided to jump all of the corpses lunged at the man, just after he dodged aside.
He tumbled down to the ground, body covered with dirt and gravel. All of the corpses fell right into the lake below, and those who tried to escape were pushed off by the one behind. The man lay on the ground and took a breath as the noise of blood splashing and the wails of the corpses serenaded his ears. The man looked down at the lake; all the corpses disappeared. He slowly moved up from the ground and grabbed the magic gun, to go collect some of the orbs he had left.
The ground rumbled, bigger than any time before, as the lake rippled with huge waves.
