"I'm coming back to you Haley!" Nathan said standing with the woman who just became his wife. "Is that a promise?" She replied. "As long as you wait for me it is." Both their hearts were breaking, "Oh I'll wait for you. I'll wait forever." The last kiss was slow and sweet before Nathan rushed off. Haley stood in the rain watching him leave. Her heart felt like it was breaking in half, the thought of losing him flooded her mind.
Letters came daily from Nathan, Haley replied to everyone. Every letter for the last six months. Haley James stood in the kitchen rubbing her growing belly, fearing that one day Nathan wouldn't come home to meet his child. The last letter came that morning, Haley rushed to meet the mailman.
"My dearest Haley, my deployment has come to an end. I shall be home by the end of this week. I can't wait to see you."
Haley smiled at the letter, she hasn't told Nathan about the baby, she didn't want him to rush home.
One Week Later
Haley heard a car pull up in the driveway, a bus full of soldiers riding. She spotted Nathan walking through the bus, she practically ran out the door to greet him. "Haley!" He pulled her into his arms. "God I've missed you." She says backing away from him, her belly touching his. "Haley? You didn't tell me." He seemed hurt, "I didn't want you to come home before your deployment was up a friend of mine told me that could make things worse for you. I'm sorry I didn't tell you." He smiled resting his on her baby bump. "Our baby, I can't believe it." Haley placed her hand on top of his. "Our son." Nathan looked at her with such joy, "It's a boy?" Haley pulled him close to her chest, "I don't know for sure but I have a feeling." A feeling was good enough for him, but as long as their baby was healthy that was all that mattered them.
