Chapter Seventy Four.
Aveng
The screen flickers and blinks and then BB appears on it, wearing a colorful mod outfit, with a miniskirt, Go-Go boots, large glasses, a long sleeved blouse with psychodelic flower patterns, and a huge peace symbol medallion.
"Hello! Your lovely kohai BB has briefly taken control of your computer! We are doing you a favor by replacing that grim old Batman with a much better, groovy take from the sizzling sixties! Don't fret, fanboys, you'll get your po faced Dark Knight later! But in the meanwhile, cats, let's do the Batusi with that hip Light Knight all contrarians nowadays love and cherish, the one and only no imitations allowed Adam West Battyman! Hey! Biography:
During the late 1960s, in Gotham City, USA, Batman and his loyal partner Robin, the Boy Wonder, fought crime in all its many forms. Secretly, Batman was playboy socialite Bruce Wayne, and Robin was Bruce's youthful ward, one Dick Grayson.
After Bruce's father was gunned down by gangsters when Bruce was a child, the youngest Wayne swore to uphold justice and law, wearing the mantle of a Bat and eventually adopting a high flyin' companion for his battle against the outrageous villains plaguing Gotham. Only Bruce's loyal butler Alfred knew their secret identities.
Later on, Batman and Robin were joined by Barbara Gordon, daughter of Police Commissioner Gordon, who styled herself as Batgirl.
Class Skills:
Magic Resistance: D
Unlike other versions of Batman, this one never fought any remarkable mystical threats. Hence he has not gained enough experience dealing with magic to boost the skill beyond the basics that come with the Rider class. At this rank, the skill can cancel only very simple spells, to a degree comparable to that of a protection amulet.
Riding: A+
The Skill needed to pilot mounts and vehicles.
In addition to his vehicular Noble Phantasms listed below, Rider can summon at any time, without the necessity for any chanting, a maneuverable Bat-motorcycle and a flying Whirly Bat, a single passenger small rotor flying vehicle resembling a gyrocopter.
Rider also can commander any aerial, land or land vehicles, up to and including those beyond his era, since the sixties were a time of sci fi experimentation and Batman had lots of experience with prototype vehicles for space travel, including a faux flying saucer commandered by Joker.
Bruce Wayne, a child of privilege, was also trained in horse riding. However, he cannot ride dragons or Phantasmal Beasts.
Personal Skills:
Bat Deduction: EX
"It could be any one of them. But which one? Which ones?"
"Pretty 'fishy' what happened to me on that ladder."
"You mean where there's a fish there could be a Penguin?"
"But wait! It happened at sea. See? C for Catwoman"
"Yet, an exploding shark was pulling my leg..."
"The Joker!"
"All adds up to a sinister riddle. Riddle-R. Riddler!"
"Oh, the thought strikes me. So dreadful, I scarcely dare give it utterance."
"The four of them. Their forces combined."
"Holy nightmare!"
The ability to extract flawless logical deductions from a seemingly completely whimsical and illogical train of thought. Rider will latch onto a small fact and from that unravel complex chains of cause and effects, until achieving a fully accurate answer to the main conundrum plaguing him at the time.
Even if it seems he isn't making any sense, the deduction will be astute and yield the desired results. This angers Sherlock Holmes since it's impossible to gauge from a rational sense.
It's a priceless way to second guess the plans of enemies and find their locations.
Utility Belt: EX
Rider's famous belt of hidden weapons. The kits and tools stored within in are apparently limitless and self rechargeable after use. The life-saving items contained in it include:
Batarangs, small metal boomerangs shaped like bats.
Bat-Rope, a long end of steel rope with a hook attached to it. Useful to climb up walls and swing across the cityscapes.
Bat-Universal Antidote. A small dose of it is enough to instantly neutralize the effects of any toxins on Rider, his Master or their allies. Even the poisons deployed by Assassin Joker, Assassin Hassan of Serenity, Avenger Poison Ivy and Assassin Semiramis are powerless against it.
Bat-Gas Pellets. Small bombs that produce a shielding gas cloud when thrown. Very useful to cover up escapes.
Bat-Flute. When played, it can be used to steer and direct rats and mice around, emulating the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
Bat-Cuffs. Ideal to immobilize the hands of enemies. Warning- Servants with B, A or EX ranked Strenght can snap them easily.
Bat-Bravety Tablets. When swallowed by an ally they will grant them A ranked Bravery and raise their spirits. However, Rider will not feed them to anyone without receiving previous consent.
Bat-Shark Repellent. A surefire counter to any attack by sharks or shark based Servants (see also- Berserker King Shark, Rider Jabberjaw).
Additionally, Rider's suit includes Bat-Thermic Underwear shielding him from attacks based on extreme cold and heat.
Golden Rule: A++
Bruce was a millionaire known across the whole United States, and was offered the running position for Governor once. A benefactor of many social charities, he would be invited to galas and ceremonies constantly, and would even welcome foreign dignataries into the country.
Money is never an issue no matter the situation. All travel expenses are covered. Buying food and clothes is only a quick payment away.
Noble Phantasms:
Batmobile- Sleek Speedster of the Bat: B
A high technology four wheeled vehicle with atomic turbines, it can outrace any cars of its time and most of those from ulterior time periods. In a straight race it is a good, solid match for the Mean Machine of Rider Dick Dastardly.
Unlike the Batmobiles used by other Batmen, this one is not well armored and can be destroyed with potent enough weaponry. Efficient ejection mechanisms allow for quick escape for safety for Rider and his passengers in the event of heavy attack on the car.
While it doesn't have the guns and missiles attached to most other Batmobiles, it has a superior radar, devices that shoot oil to make any pursuing vehicles or Servants slip, and instant brakes.
Bat-Copter- A Bat on Metal Wings: D
A black helicopter used by Rider and his child assistant to travel from one crime scene to another. It isn't very fast and it makes for an easy aerial target, making its usefulness as Noble Phantasm limited.
The Bat-Copter doesn't have any weapons attached, but there is a lot of equipment and tools inside of it. In its own way, it's like an extension of the Utility Belt.
Summon: "Greetings! I'm Rider. Servant Rider. I saw the Bat-Signal in the Throne of Heroes and ran here to help you, citizen!"
Beginning of Battle: "Give it up, evildoers!"
"Are you ready, old chum? Here they come!"
"Stubborn miscreants! Surrender now!"
"Like Robin would say... Holy confrontations!"
"Brace yourself, Master Wonder!"
Attack:
WHAMMM!
SPLOTCH!
ZOKK!
BIFFF!
Damage:
KAPOW!
SLAMM!
THROK!
WOOOF!
Victory: "Don't get too proud, old chum. Hubris is the downfall of many a crimefighter."
"Let's now retreat quickly, fleeing the spotlight."
"Good job! We will leave them for Commissioner Gordon."
"One is to never kill. However, these were but simulations of human life."
"The world is safe once more!"
Defeat: "There's a lesson... to be learned from this..."
"See you again next week... Same Bat-Hour... Same Bat-Channel..."
"You... You won't put me in a trap? Devilishly clever!"
"Robin will take my place now..."
"Evil never prevails in the long run."
Defeat by Noble Phantasm: "Incredible, indeed."
Noble Phantasm Activation:
"Turbines to maximum speed! Batmobile!"
"Master! Call for the Bat-Copter!"
Dialogue Samples:
"Joker! You have changed your appearance. What is your scheme this time, confounding criminal clown?" (When you have Assassin Joker).
"Penguin! Hands up, fiendish fowl of freakishness! Drop that umbrella!" (When you have Lancer Penguin).
"Huh? Do I know you? Why do you show so much hatred towards me?" (When you have Lancer Scarecrow).
"Freeze. It looks like you change every time I see you. This is your most threatening look so far, I must say." (When you have Archer Mr. Freeze).
"So it's you. The other me I've heard so much about. I'm not sure I can approve your methods, but I hope we can work together for the sake of our common goals. Shake it!" (When you have Avenger Batman).
"King Arthur? The Once and Future King of Britain? I should have known. Reading between the lines of those archeology reports found in Londinium should have clued me in." (When you have Saber Artoria Pendragon).
Birthday: "Happy birthday, old chum. Look, I had a Robin costume sewed for you! Now you can be my official sidekick... Oh? You don't want that yet? I see, I see..."
Event: "Be careful, old chum! My Bat-radar detects a lot of unsavory characters within those premises."
Holy Grail: "To wish for a world without crime... Yet, wisdom will tell us that such easy outs are not to be approached. Let me study this object, old chum! If nothing else, it'll make an interesting addition to the gallery of the Batcave."
To be Continued.
