Chapter 15
Kimora POV
It was midday when I felt fingers ghost over my ribs, teasing a sigh from my lips. I felt a slight pressure roll me over onto my back. The fingers that ghosted my ribs trailed up my side grazing the sides of my breasts, then running down my arms. I moaned as lips covered mine in a gentle but teasing brush. I snaked my arm around his neck pulling him towards me so I could press further into him. I heard him let out a groan as he moved to lean over me, adjusting to place his knee between my legs, to push against my core. His teeth teased my bottom lip, nipping and licking.
"Toshiro," I breathed out against his lips just before his mouth dominated mine muffling a moan from my throat.
Knocking could be heard from the back door in the living room. I glanced and saw that we were still encased in Toshiro's ice barrier within his bedroom. I shifted my gaze to Toshiro. His hand continued to move up and down my sides and stomach, constantly grazing the sides of my breasts, sending shivers throughout my whole body.
He bent to kiss the exposed skin on my neck as he rubbed his knee against my core again causing my back to arch.
"Captain! I know you are in there!" Rangiku's voice carried through the ice walls. "You can't hide Kimura in there forever!"
A low growl emitted from Toshiro as he pulled his mouth away from my neck. I pulled my head back to gaze up at him. He pushed my mused hair away from my face and kissed me lightly as he whispered. "She won't go away."
"I know…" I replied bringing my hand to his face. "Toshiro…" I whispered before he was able to move away from me.
"What is it?" He asked as he kept his soft gaze on my face.
"Thank you…" I hesitated on what I wanted to say and said that instead. I saw in his eyes that he knew I wanted to say something else, but he did not press it.
"Kimura… I told you. You are mine… and after last night, I will defiantly never let you go." He growled pressing his knee into me once more to reinforce his meaning. He held my gaze for a few more moments before going to stand and pull his clothes on.
"Shut it! I'm coming!" he yelled through the ice as he knelt by the bed pulling the sheets over my naked body covering me. Dragging his finger once over down my chin once more as he held his other hand at the ice causing it to disappear before walking out of the room.
I heard him slide the back door open but block Rangiku from coming in.
"How is she? Squad four said you took her from the medical wing." Rangiku exclaimed trying to get inside.
"She's resting." Was the only thing that he replied with still blocking her entry.
Toshiro POV
I held my arm out blocking Rangiku from getting past me into the house. I knew it was wrong of me to keep her from coming in, but I did not want her barging into the room and embarrassing Kimura. What we shared was ours and I refused to let anyone into that part of our world.
They said they could see the obvious signs of us being together previously, well this they would not, not for a while. I wanted to protect this from others.
Rangiku locked her eyes with mine and stomped her foot like a child.
"Captain, please!" She begged, I sighed at her.
"Fine! But wait here Rangiku, I mean it!" I growled while pointing a finger at her. She nodded her agreement and I turned to walk back into my bedroom. I slid the door open only enough for me to squeeze through and closed it right after.
I looked at my bed and stood still taking in the sight that met my gaze. I took in a deep breath seeing her laying there wrapped in a sheet with her head turned towards me smiling. I stared at her eyes, smiling seeing that now there was her normal hazel, the dark blue rim of Okami, and a new ice blue ring around both that was mine.
"She's refusing to leave until she sees me, isn't she?" Kimura asked as I started walking towards her again, the desire I feel for her growing with every step I take.
"Yes… but seeing you like this I want to tell her you are sleeping." I said as I let my eyes trail down her sheet covered body. I heard her giggle as she slowly started to move but flinched. "Are you alright?" I asked kneeling next to the bed placing my hand on her face.
"Yes, just a bit sore." She replied blushing while lowering her gaze. I couldn't help the smug smile that appeared on my face before I leaned forward and kissed her bare shoulder. I had known that taking her three times the previous night was probably too much, but I felt like a dying man who had found water.
"I'll hold her out there while you get dressed." I whispered as I ran my hand through her loose hair. Admiring how it slid through my fingers, knowing that it was almost only down when she was with me. I stood from her side and walked back to the living room.
I saw Rangiku sitting on my couch with her arms crossed. She watched me exit my bedroom and raised an eyebrow.
I raised mine right back. "She's getting up." I said and went to lean against the counter.
"Captain…." I heard Rangiku whisper, and I looked at her. "I thought we lost her…."
"I know…. But she came back to us." I responded as I closed my eyes trying to block the visions of her body lying there returning.
I heard the door to my bedroom slide open and Kimura gingerly stepped out into the living room, noticing immediately that she had put her hair up in its customary ponytail. I saw Rangiku jump and and start to move towards her.
"Easy Rangiku, she's still healing." I said reminding her of Kimura's injury.
"Kimura… tell me…" Rangiku tried to say but couldn't find the words. Kimura smiled at her and hugged her around her waist as Rangiku wrapped her arms around gently.
"I'm okay Rangiku, I'm here." She whispered.
I watched as Rangiku's head dropped, her eyes closed, and a tear escaped out corners. Rangiku pulled away and held Kimura at arm's length. Glaring at her.
"Don't you ever scare me like that again!" I heard her shout as more tears escaped her eyes before she turned to wipe them away.
"I'm sorry." Kimura whispered barely audible. We both looked at her, her head cast down looking at the floor. "I felt lost, I didn't know what to do. Seeing To…" She stopped before she finished saying my name, remembering that was only when we were alone.
"It's okay Kimura. She knows. She's always known apparently." I told her as she gazed at me, her eyes snapping back to Rangiku who was smiling.
"Yes, and that's another thing. I am angry at you for not telling me!"
"Could you blame me? You get sake in you, and nothing is scared anymore! The whole seireitei would know my business!" Kimura shouted back at her; the previous conversation abandoned. I raised my eyebrows as they continued back and forth before turning away from each other and crossing their arms huffing.
'What did I get myself into…' I asked myself as I grinned at them.
Kimura's POV
I stood there with my back turned to Rangiku, knowing we both probably looked like children. I glanced over my right shoulder and saw her quickly look away from me. I smiled to myself, as I started laughing, which caused her to start laughing. I turned back towards her wiping the tears from my eyes. I looked at Toshiro who looked just confused leaning against his counter.
"As long as no one goes dying on me" I glared at Toshiro before continuing "I won't retreat into myself." I finished. "But I do need to speak to my father."
Toshiro pushed away from the counter and Rangiku stood up.
"You've been out for 6 days Kimura; anything can wait a bit longer." Rangiku started to say, but I shook my head.
"No. I need to get him to tell central 46 to remove the seal they have on Okami." I said watching them both.
"What? Why?" Toshiro asked.
"Because, while I was in our inner world, in the barrier she put me in to protect me we spoke before she lowered the barrier so Hyorinmaru could pull up" I saw Toshiro's face turn to shock as if he had no idea. "You didn't know?" I asked watching him shake his head before glancing over at his zanpakuto leaning against the wall next to my two.
"Well… before he pulled me up, Okami said that we won't be able to kill Kohaku with our current level of power. The only way we have a chance is to have the seal removed." I explained switching my gaze between them.
I watched as the emotions crossed their faces, processing what I said. Toshiro was the first to react shaking his head.
"No, its too risky. I don't know much about the sealing process, but I can imagine that it is not pleasant and how weak will it make you? We can come up with something else." I watched as he turned back towards his room and disappeared behind the door, my mouth gaped open at him, shocked that he didn't even continue the discussion just shot it down.
"Don't get frazzled about his reaction just now." I heard Rangiku say, and I turned back towards her. Her face solemn as she looked at Toshiro's bedroom door. "After you went unconscious and then actually died in his arms, I had never seen him so broken. Even after Momo…." She let her sentence trail off before shaking her head.
"He was a shell since then until you woke up. He could barely contain his spiritual pressure. Your hospital room was covered in snow and ice. If they forced him into the hallway, then that was covered in ice from floor to ceiling." She sighed before turning to walk out the back door. "I think if something happened to you again, and you didn't recover, I would be scared at what would become of him."
I watched Rangiku leave Toshiro's home giving us some privacy. I stared at the door before turning to walk into his bedroom. I found him holding his Captains Haori and staring at the floor.
"What did you mean that Hyorinmaru pulled you out?" he asked me quietly.
I walked towards him, placing my hands on top of his that were clutching his haori. He lifted his gaze and locked onto my eyes.
"While I was in our inner world, inside the barrier, above us trying to break in was a giant ice dragon. Okami said that he had been there for days trying to break in." I paused as I lifted a hand to rest on Toshiro's face.
"When she finally lowered the barrier, after I told her I was ready to return, he flew in and waited as I walked up to him. I told him I was ready, so he opened his claw and held me while he flew me back to the surface of my consciousness." I explained watching the emotions cross Toshiro's eyes as he listened to my story.
"I didn't know…" He spoke. "But I am more grateful to him than he can know." I watched as his eyes close, and his grip tighten on his haori while releasing a breath. "What she said was true..." I barely heard him whisper. Toshiro opened his eyes looking at me before he continued. "When you were unconscious." He stopped himself before changing his course of thought. "When you had returned to your body after Okami switched back, I felt you fading. I felt your spiritual pressure diminishing. I did everything I could think of to try and save you."
I saw how he hesitated while he spoke. I had never seen him like this, the air around us chilled a bit before he continued.
"The moment I couldn't feel your pulse something inside me snapped. I had not lost control of my spiritual pressure like that since before Rangiku found me and I became a soul reaper. I could not control it anymore; I would have frozen the world if Orihime hadn't stepped in to heal you and bring you back to life."
I gasped at his words and tightened my grip on his hands, before moving them to hold the sides of his face.
"I barely retained control while we were in the medical wing. I wouldn't let anymore take you farther than I could see you, I wouldn't leave your side." His whispered as turned his head into one of my palms. He opened his eyes; his eyes always told me what his face and words wouldn't. It should how powerless he felt in those days, that he couldn't get to me. I continued to stay silent, waiting until he was ready to continue.
"It's why I did what I did last night." One of his hands that was still holding his haori shifted so he could rub his thumb under my eye. "I am now a part of you, I can see my spiritual pressure in your eyes. I will find you anywhere you are. If you ever need me, I will be there."
The determination his voice carried left no room for questions. They were final. I smiled at him slowing bringing my hands to take his Captain's haori out of his hands, ignoring his confused look. I gently smoothed out the creases his grip caused before starting to walk and stand behind him, holding his haori open. After a few brief moments he realized what I was doing, and straightened his arms so they were slightly behind him, not hiding the smile that graced his lips.
I slid his haori over his arms and up his shoulders, once it was on, I moved to the front of him, grabbing the edges and straightening the edges more before letting my hands run down the front of his chest. The action of helping him felt more intimate than anything from the previous night. It was different but held so much in its actions.
I watched as Toshiro grabbed his usual teal scarf but before wrapping it around his neck he paused. He took hold of one of the frayed edges and pulled a strip, ripping it away easily. Toshiro than put his scarf on before walking behind me with the strip he torn away.
I waited, curiously wondering what he was doing. Suddenly I felt him tie the strip to my ponytail, in front of my ribbon that was already there. Once He felt he had it tight enough the removed my original ribbon and placed it on his shelf. I lifted my hand to my hair and smiled at him as I turned to face him.
"Ready?" he asked me, at my nod he took my hand in his and lead me from his home.
