Chapter Twenty-Four:

Another Attack by Eggman's Robots

Outside Tails' lab, Princess Amy #1 sat on a log with Princess Amy #2, feeding crumbs to a pair of Flickies before the birds flew off to their nests, and taking in the night air. They were by Tails' house and looking up at the sky, gazing at the stars and the moon. Despite the great threat of the Eggman Alliance at large, the girls took their time to regard the beauty of the world they were in.

And none of them knew when Eggman or any of his variants would attack again and where.

"The sky is the same as it is in our world." Princess Amy #1 remarked, "It's nice that we're able to see the sun in the day and the stars by night, no matter where we are."

"Near-different environment and different locations, but some things never change." Princess Amy #2 nodded, "I feel like I'm back home, relaxing on the hill with Sonic, only a few nights after Eggmandorf's last defeat, and staring at the beauty in the twinkling stars above."

"If only we could share this with Sonic."

"But which one?" Princess Amy #2 giggled, "There's so many of them and we know a Sonic of our own from where and when we're from. And, meanwhile, they're all down in Tails' lab, 'studying' that strange-looking hedgehog who doesn't bare much resemblance to any of the other Sonics."

"Your version of Sonic..." Princess Amy #1 said to her counterpart/relative, "The one in the green tunic, the one you're with right now?"

The shapely pink hedgehog princess sighed, "Yes, maybe we'll go stargazing again, after Eggman's beaten and when we're safe."

Both girls turned their eyes back to the dark sky above and, just then, they spotted something approaching and could hear engines. The noise came closer and a massive robot with a singular red eye and a bulky body on tank treads appeared, accompanied by a pack of Buzz Bombers and a massive Egg Hammer.

Princess Amy #1 and #2 stood sharply and the robots came closer, the Chaos Emerald-like TriChaosForce symbols gleamed brightly on the back of the pink hedgehogs' hands. They surveyed the robots, mostly the massive one, and a name echoed in their minds.

'The Mega.'

It was one of Boom Eggman's Badniks, just like Obliterator Bot, and Eggman along with his variants had sent them out to attack Sonic, even if it was obvious that Sonic would smash the robots alongside his counterparts. And, one way or another, the Badniks had pinpointed the heroes' location at Tails' current residence and had come to attack them.

Mega deactivated its thrusters and landed on the ground, his landing shaking the earth with an explosive thud. The Egg Hammer landed alongside The Mega, its eyes flashing as it stared at the two hedgehog girls.

Princess Amy #2 readied her sword, so did Princess Amy #1, and faced the group of Badniks bravely with determination blazing in her eyes.

Whatever else the Sonics and their sidekicks were doing down in Tails' lab, the sound of Mega arriving hopefully got their attention, even if the princesses could take on the robots themselves. But they didn't have to wait long, a couple blue blurs shot out of the lab's entrance and raced towards the girls, causing Princess Amy #2's skirt to flap in the breeze.

"Mega!" Boom Sonic said, "I didn't see 'im when we fought Eggman earlier, but I had a feeling he would be here along with the others, especially if the doc brought his goon squad along."

"Can't wait to take down that ugly hammer bot." Sonic remarked confidently.

"Less standing around, more smashing robots!" Myrule Sonic told the pair.

BWOOSH! Just before the heroes could make a move, a mass of blue with crackling lightning-like light-blue energy bolts around it streaked towards the Mega and smashed into one of its shoulder joints. And then, the blur unwound the robot's tank tread-like wheels and shot upward, smashing into the red eye before striking the Egg Hammer down on its back.

"HE'S JUST AS FAST AND POWERFUL AS ME!" Movie Sonic exclaimed.

The blur stopped, revealing itself to be Ugly Sonic aka Manhog Sonic. Manhog Sonic ducked, avoiding laser blasts from the Buzz Bombers, then he launched himself into a ball of energy and spikes and smashed the bee-like Badniks out of the sky.

"Whoa-ho, is that all we got?!" The weird-looking hedgehog humanoid said in a snarky manner, "I guess that's it for now, who sends in a small pack of robots without any more robots as back-up?"

"I wouldn't get too confident there!" Movie Sonic called, "You didn't finish off that Egg Hammer!"

He was right. Manhog Sonic hadn't completely destroyed the Egg Hammer that had come with the other Badniks, the robot got back up, glaring at the odd Sonic variant, and picked up its hammer. The robot beeped and raised its weapon, ready to crush the ugly hedgehog from another universe. Manhog Sonic leaped out of the way before the hammer came down.

The resulting shockwave rippled the grass and knocked over a tree while shaking Tails' house along with the nearby lab entrance. The heroes ducked and took cover, narrowly avoiding the shockwave. They got back up fast, ready to take on the Egg Hammer.

"LET'S JUICE AND JAM!" Underground Sonic cried, he tapped the medallion around his neck and, in a flash of blue, an electric guitar-looking blaster appeared in his hands. The cartoonish Sonic ran towards the hammer-wielding Badnik just before another Egg Hammer appeared in a flash of light, the Eggmen were not about to let the attack be ended so soon.

"LET'S HIT 'EM WITH EVERYTHING WE GOT!" Sonic yelled, "AVOID THAT HAMMER AND FIND A PERFECT OPENING! TAILS, YOU ON STANDBY?!"

"We're not sitting this one out!"

Tails and his counterparts joined the fight, swarming the massive hammer-wielding Badniks like flies and distracting them from Sonic and his identical allies, including Princess Amy #1 and #2, who were just as involved in the fight.

From the sidelines, Jim Robotnik stood back, not wanting to wind up in the crossfire and get hurt if he wound up in the proximity of where those hammers would come down. And yet, he couldn't help but take notes on the Egg Hammers' designs. He'd made robots while working with the government in his world, but he'd never made robots that big.

And then, he thought about the Eggnikbrid and then thought about the Egg Hammers again. That monstrosity was going to dwarf those things in size and would have the capacity to crush those things.

Or maybe it depended on how big the Eggnikbrid would get, if Jim Robotnik wound up being a part of the group of Eggmen who'd merge with the one serving as the catalyst for the beast's ascension.

"I'd smash these guys to bricks if they were made of Legos like Eggman's Badniks!" LEGO Sonic yelled as he launched into a spin-dash towards one of the Egg Hammers' legs.

"Still smashin' 'em to pieces, bro!" AoSTH Sonic called out.

Both Sonics, Tails', and Princess Amys avoided the attacks of the gigantic Egg Pawns, evading the hammers whenever they came down, and moved in to land a critical blow on the Badniks. The Sonics aimed for one of the shoulder joints on each robot and smashed through them, then Tails and his counterparts hacked into the first Egg Hammer and turned it on the second Egg Hammer.

SMASH! The hacked Egg Hammer brought its hammer down on its ally and smashed it to bits while the heroes got out of the way. Sonic and his crew took the opportunity and smashed away at the Egg Hammer until the bulky Badnik was down and collapsed to pieces.

However, the fight was not done yet...
