Chapter IV – The Lyric Ends But The Song Goes On

"Wait. Never intervene in the lives of mortals? Since when? You created teams of Power Rangers!" Zayto The Zenith Ranger

13 years later

"Once A Ranger. Always A ranger. Right Dad."

A young man asked looking at Eltar's blue sky. Leaning on a white balcony bar. A young man in his early twenties. Darkish Brown spikey hair, gentle eyes like his farther a smoothed chin. Decent muscle build. Finally the young man could be seen sporting an official Green SPD leather officer uniform.

Jason Oliver Junior or better commonly known to his friends by his nickname J.J. Contemplated this recite to himself as he eyed his father's master morpher. Gently resting in his palm.

"Hoped you get a few more colours under your belt before…" J.J stopped immediately. Depressively eating away at him.

Already Thirteen years had passed since the ultimate battle between his legendary farther and the terrorizing Psycho Green. The confrontation terminating the final fragments of Dark Spectre and his Council Of Evil but at such a crucial cost.

J.J still remembered the solstice evening. He woke up from a bad nightmare and heard rattling downstairs. The atmosphere was really cold. The house was cold. J.J proceeded to go downstairs to see his mother, Uncle Jason, Auntie Tanya, T.J and Corner McKnight. All whom were close friends of his farther.

The former rangers kindly walked him to his play room.

Mommy sits him down on the floor hugging her baby boy and begins to pour tears.

J.J confused and slightly scared looks around for answers. The hardened features of Conner, the solemn exterior from T.J, the concerned frowning form Jason and Tanya. These four people J.J knew most of young life and he couldn't recognize any of them in the duskiness. The toddler only saw four strangers closed off in sombre regret.

Finally his mother. Holding her son's face in her arms. Perceiving a sadness on her tear-filled face J.J never imagined she could ever have. Biting her soft lips painfully. Forcing herself not to sob abruptly.

Despite the heartbroken curling of Kat's sorrow. Needing to tell her child the absolute worst thing to a preschool lad who loved his farther.

"Your Dad won't be coming back home. J.J"

J.J was only eight or nine, but he didn't need to know why anymore. He didn't need to understand the chilliness surrounding him. The toddler knew why his beautiful mother was so unhappy.

Back in the present. Now an adult. J.J found himself mesmerized by the state and lands before him. The last thirteen years had done wonders for Zordon's former home world. Before the great war Eltar had been dismissed as a global graveyard. A landmark afflicted with ghosts and memories from a lost glorious civilization.

Those lost days were slowly resurfacing in recent times.

The conjoint nuclear blast originating from the two higher tiered Dragonzords. Sent a worldwide green effect across Eltar. Grass, flowers and magnificent meadows flourished and thrived out the dead mucky soil.

Life returned to the planet. Tommy's sacrifice paved a second chance for Eltar to start again. The last decade welcomed numerous construction and development for the anewed planet. Thanks to aid and supplies from Earth, Mrinoy, Aquitar, Coral Harbor Ko-35, Mercurey and Corinth. Pathed the path the an impressive construction. A planetwide city forged through the arms and ideals of a hopeful renaissance. Laying out futuristic designs one could only imagine of. The Utopia Zordon grew up in had finally returned to the reality. Breathing a fresh new golden era for the galaxy.

The newly resurged planet was pridefully dubbed New Eltair. Out of respect and acknowledgement for globes successful reincarnation.

Hence why J.J was here. The young man originally began his ranger career as the new Green SPD Ranger for a brand new branch of B Squad cadets. Until Commander Sky Tate revealed a new division of SPD had been established exclusively for New Eltar and the planets sector. In order to better help the planets recovery effort.

"SPE. Space Patrol Eltarian." J.J quoted to himself viewing his new morpher. The SPE Morpher maintained the model of the SPD Patrol Morpher but unlike the original morpher's they were personalized with key unique colour schemes to match their owners main colour.

J.J smirked at the Green livery his new morpher beheld. Officer Tata had originally offered the cadet the red ranger position for this new squadron but J.J declined. There was only one undivided colour J.J could ever be.

A beeping noise ringed out his new morpher. J.J flipped over to the clamshell phone's screen answering the caller "Hey."

"Hi J.J." A cherubic Australian voice replied from the other end of the receiver.

J.J playfully rolled his eyes "Hi mum."

"Hi mum? I havent't heard from you in a week!"

J.J walking down the steps "I'm sorry mum things got hectic at HQ. You know with the relocation."

"I know. Adam explained everything. It still would have been nice to get a phone call now and then or are you getting too grown up for your old mum?" Kat teased.

"It's not like that ma. Besides you know how much it costs to call inter planetary…..wait how exactly did you get this number? Strictly Space Patrol calls only." J.J asked heading towards the metropolises' main park.

"I have my secrets." Kat mused cheekily.

"Mum!" J.J warned.

"Alright! Alright J.J." Kat assured calmly "It was Bridge."

"Bridge!" J.J exclaimed drawing a few alien children eyes. Awkwardly J.J blushed. Embarrassed J.J went another direction to avoid the youngsters stares.

Recovering from his embarrassment the rookie in green returned to his conversation "Why the hell did Bridge do that?"

"J.J this is Bridge were talking about. The guy thought the Christmas turkey I made two years ago held the last DaVinci code." Kat reminded her son. It was true one Christmas as a good will gesture she invited her son's first ranger team for Christmas dinner. Bridge Clarkson the promoted red ranger of the branch almost ruined the fine bird Kat had toiled over to cook merely because he believed the fried skin had the Mona Lisa's face ashed in.

J.J sniggered remembering the frustrating but wonderful time. The image of himself and his fellow teammates had trying to haul off their leader. The young officer would treasure the precious moment till the day he died.

"Don't laugh. J.J!" Kat warned but unable to hide her own amusement. "It took me a good six hours to make that turkey."

"I'm sorry mum.." J.J calmed down slumping onto a tree trunk. "But got to admit it takes a real red ranger to do something that ballsy." J.J asserted. The cadet's tone started to slowly descent from happy to a more sobered expression.

"I miss him mum. I miss my old crew. Bridge, Z, Lina, Boom" J.J confessed.

"I know J.J. When me and your farther left the Turbo rangers. It took a good while before we came to terms being civilians again. Dealing with the withdrawal syndrome. It's never easy. Even when you have something better going you way. There is still a part of you craving for the life you had before. Preventing you from moving on" Kat conceded. "Have you met your new squad yet?"

"Not yet. Rangers blue and pink still have yet arrive and the red, black yellow members have some training to finish off. 'Hopefully" J.J clacketed a bit too sourly for his own taste "I will be able to get one with them. After all I'm the new kid on the block." J.J joked. His mind casting back to the life he left behind on earth.

"I'm still a green ranger but I wish I could have one more go with my first morpher. I was so looking forward to breaking this new one in but now. I'm recently got some pining pains for my first one. " J.J venerated quizzingly. Fondly remembering the first time he morphed into the Green B Squad ranger suit. Exposing himself too the power of apparently and influencing events by using mysterious or supernatural forces but someway feeling much more than that. J.J wished that feeling would last forever.

"I know my first morpher wasn't as legendary like Dad's one but I don't know. I find myself sometimes…..really willing to give a lot just to have five more seconds to morph one more time into that first suit" The cadet nostalgically summarized.

A long silence momentary silence passed. Finally to be broken due to a light hearted giggle on Kat's end. "You know your dad felt the same way when he lost his Green Ranger powers the first time. In his words it was like the first time you fall in love. You never love a person quite like that again. His future powers afterwards and the one he started his journey with – your first love will stay with you until the end."

J.J sighed sympathizing with his farther. "Dad always knew the right things to say."

"J.J if you are worried about this placement. We can always talk to Sky and Adam.."

"No mum!" J.J more oppressively then he wished. Calming himself down J.J continued with his explanation "I'm sorry mum" The cadet apologized for his outburst. "But I don't want to transfer back to delta division."

J.J paved way to the park's open space. The centrefold for the park's main attraction. His main reason and desire for entering the gardens. Questing up his gaze J.J saw his justification to why transferring to the Eltarian branch was a unmistaken imperative need and choice.

"It's my turn to watch over him mum."

In front the green prodigy beheld the Legacy Dragonzord. Covered in beautiful diversified flowers producing a fresh morning dewed scent in an angelic fashion.

For you see. This park had been originally the crater were J.J's farther Tommy Oliver and Psycho Green boxed their final fray. The last Megazord his farther piloted the figurative body frame at least remained on after the blast. Transmuting with the planets re greenery.

J.J father's life core sadly couldn't be found within the mecha despite how much J.J prayed there to have been one life sigh. A despatch team who confirmed Tommy's fate after the battle. Discovered somehow the fully powered master morpher. Next to the Gaia themed monument on the day. Grown out from the rebreathed soil. Like a thornless rose presenting a love that blooms forever.

T.J and Conner told him such a fable when they gave J.J the master morpher. A last gift from Tommy to his son. A promise his farther would always be a part of him. Be proud of him wherever J.J went with his life.

A vow the two would meet again one day.

"I know sweetheart." Kat rest assured her son.

J.J suddenly heard a few screams in the distance. The high pitched shrieks matched the alien children's voices he backed away from. They were in trouble!

"Sorry mum I got to go talk later promise." J.J abruptly ended the call and hellishly sprinted to the parks playground.

Once J.J finished the walkaway. The cadet viciously scowled. Seeing a few very frightened and tear-filled alien toddlers. Backing away in the shadows of three damaged and glitchy Orange-Head Krybots. Broken merch from Broodwing's old secret stock. J.J heard reports some back dealers were trying to sell the stocked grunts on the black market. New Eltar being one of their new sale targets. Damfully the Krybots deviced forms were severely damaged after the grand slam of Grumm's ship. The head solders became too defected. Unable for anyone to control due to their extreme malfunctioning. Now the Krybots were nothing more than feral animals roving the streets hurting and attacking people like rapid dogs.

J.J took out his new SPE morpher. He wanted to christen the new morpher and inspect the new green ranger suit and powers desperately.

But for some reason he couldn't. A voice swaying him the other way. Preaching him not to use the new morpher. A green stary light shown upon the master morphers surface. Hungrily favouring the chance to protect these children.

J.J needed to stop the Kyrobots as a Green Ranger; but he needed be a Green Ranger heading this dragon's call and honour.

"This one is for you dad." J.J promised bleary. Taking out the master morpher conducting the fantastical mighty movements and saying the marvellous his farther relished saying.

"ITS MORPHIN TIME! DRAGONZORD!"

THE END

Jason David Frank. The man played Tommy Oliver. Respectfully he played the original Green and White Rangers, Red Zeo Ranger, First Red Turbo Ranger, and Black Dino Thunder Ranger. For almost 30 years he played the role making many returns to the franchise for anniversary episodes; video games and just some lovely fan videos. The guy was just a nice man and portrayed it within his character. The anti-hero, successor, leader, touch passer and mentor his character dealt with each of these tasks, and seeing him act was just an absolute dude. It was said in one of the episodes he was the best power ranger, I personally couldn't agree more. Jason David Frank thank you for bringing in a rainbow of wonder and joy to many children and fans of Power Rangers. Once a Ranger, always a ranger.

I understand some fans new or old do have mixed feelings and options on the shows future. Whether it be the recent Cosmic Fury team or the planned Reboot. One thing you must always remember. The Power Rangers for children and fans will always be there for you. Regardless of the colour schemes or the teams theme. You will have at least one team you can always count on to lift you up when you are having a bad day. A ranger who you could always count on to keep you brave and true. Never forget those feelings you had when you were child. Never loose them let them keep on growing and keep helping you see the best parts in life. Happy 30TH Power Rangers Thank You For Three Decades Of Joy, Wonder, And A Ton Of Megazords!
