A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 Chapter 20

Whatever temporary peace the holiday break brought with it is extremely short lived as it is just as quickly stolen away.

Because of the accidental blunder with the Polyjuice Potion fiasco, Hermione ends up stuck in the hospital wing for the next seven weeks. That's how long it takes Madam Pomfrey to reserve what happened.

Bailey guesses this is the reason why it's a written and unwritten rule that the Polyjuice Potion is never used for animal transformations.

Anyhow, during Hermione's confined seclusion, Hermione didn't really want to receive any visitors outside of their inner circle. It certainly didn't help that students are constantly trying to sneak in and report to others on whether or not she's been petrified similar to the other victims. The harassment eventually got so bad that Madam Pomfrey had to hang curtains around Hermione's bed to grant her some semblance of privacy. Some of the bolder students ignored this and tried to sneak a peek at her.

What these guys receive instead is some angry dogs snarling in their faces warning them to go away. This sends a bunch of them running out of the hospital wing.

You see to make Hermione feel better Harry would not only bring Bailey but sometimes one of the puppies with her. Not all of them at once though. By the end of the seven weeks, the puppies are now almost as big as their mother is in size. Can't have the litter travel all at once throughout the castle. They'd cause too much of a ruckus if that happened without express permission.

Fortunately, this successfully disputes the rumors going around the school that Hermione had been attacked over the Christmas holiday vacation.

In this timespan, much has changed with her puppies. The whole litter has now come even closer to reaching Bailey's size while they still have a bit of a way to go in comparison with their father. They still bore remnant specks of soft baby fur here and there and have traded their milk teeth for permanent meat teeth. Which means they've officially moved off nursing from her to obtain sustenance for good.

Whisper is with them today evidently, lying right beside Hermione while Bailey is positioned at the edge of it.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione are convening about the same subject matter that hasn't left their minds since Christmas.

The fact that Draco Malfoy and his family aren't from Slytherin's line as they'd been first presumed to be. The reality of this is very disheartening and leaves them back to square one. Leaving an oblique cloud looming over them. The three kids keep trying to discuss what to do next.

By the end of the short visit, the three of them are no closer to solving this mystery than they were the previous day before.

Ron and Harry depart with Whisper and Bailey but end up distracted along the way around the castle.

Nearby Moaning Myrtles bathroom Filches furious ranting can be heard booming across the stone walls. He was heavily complaining about a mess that he'd probably have to spend the entire night mopping up and going to Dumbledore in order to get it to stop.

As soon as Filch disappears around the corner Ron and Harry can't resist investigating.

None of them can't exactly say that Filches anger isn't unjustified.

Moaning Myrtle certainly outdid herself this time.

A great flood of water stretches over nearly half the corridor, and it looks as though it is still seeping from under the door leading into Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. Through the sound of trickling and streaming water Myrtle's ominous, miserable, and despair-filled wails are prominent through the cracks.

Ignoring the Out of Order sign that has been stuck plain as day on the door they slip inside. Seeing her daughter's apparent unease Bailey comes over to investigate while the boys are conversing with Moaning Myrtle.

Moaning Myrtle is crying louder and harder than ever before. She seems to be hiding down her usual toilet. The walls and floors are soaking wet.

Exuding caution Harry and Ron approach Moaning Myrtle to ask her some questions. Bailey remains at her boy's side and Whisper takes the opportunity to explore the room, unbothered by the sopping water she wades through.

With someone actually present to listen Moaning Myrtle sobs her woes, explaining to them the source of her sorrow. She explains that someone had the gall to throw a book at her. The insensitivity behind the act is what is tearing the female ghost apart. Ron makes the situation almost ten times worse by opening his big mouth and pointing out the fact that anything solid will simply travel right past her in the first place. That sets Moaning Myrtle off even more.

So engrossed is Bailey in the conversation that is going on that she is unaware that her daughter has found something of interest until Moaning Myrtle points in the direction where she mentioned the book was after it washed out of a toilet.

Whisper had already located it.

Bailey trots over to pick up the diary book and discovers something very surprising.

Whisper is standing rigidly in front of a sink. One forepaw is partially lifted, the hair on her back and neck raised, and her tail lifted halfway to relay how unsettled she is.

Bailey comes closer spotting a small and thin book lying there. It had a shabby black cover and was as wet as everything else in the bathroom. By all appearances, it seems to be a normal and ordinary book like any other. Sitting there nondescript and softy and the aftermath following the flood. So Bailey goes to pick it up in her teeth and take it to her boy.

Bailey's nose is within a couple of inches from the book when she senses the same thing Whisper did.

Darkness. Pure evil is radiating in droves off this small book.

Bailey is majorly taken aback after her scrutinization.

It immediately sets her on edge in coalition with her child.

The humans might not be able to catch it but they definitely can.

Ron's train of thought too is along these lines. Having heard stories from his father in the Ministry of Magic about confiscated books that have come in cursed and seriously messed with.

Harry ignores the warnings all around him and picks it up despite Baily and Whisper's frantic pawing and whining for him to leave it alone.

Harry eagerly opens the diary to see what is inside. The faded year on the cover tells him it was fifty years old. On the first page, he can barely make out the name etched there in smudged ink.

Tom Marvolo Riddle

Ron recognizes the name when Harry reads it aloud. Says this person got a special award for services to the school fifty years ago. Ron knows this because he policed the very shield during his detention months ago with Filch. Thinking ahead Harry peels the wet pages apart to see what's there. The pages are blank. Every single one.

All that's left to wonder is why someone would throw it away in the first place much to Ron and Harry's curiosity.

Bailey would prefer this diary be left behind here just as the previous owner intended.

Instead, Harry pockets it.

Bailey doesn't like or trust it.

Authors Note:

Who do you believe Bailey's favorites are?

For those of you on fanfiction I'm sure you've been facing the many unwanted ads when you're reading a story. Well, yesterday, I finally had enough, and I got an adblocker app. It worked! No more ads on any level! The one I got is Adblock Pro: Safari Ad Blocker. It really works. Just follow the instruction video that it attached to it.

Heads up everyone there's someone on fanfiction you need to seriously watch out for. Early a couple of months ago after I woke up I was checking my email and I saw I had a new guest review on my A Dog's Purpose Is Strange Magic 2 sequel. I took a look at it and got a very big shock. Some random person I've never spoken to before on here or anywhere else in my life was basically threatening me. Intimidating and practically ordering me to write a threatening letter to someone on their behalf, telling to stay off of for life or else they and everyone else close to them would be killed, disgustingly telling them to kill themselves. And at the bottom of the message this crazy person wasn't done. Warning me that if I don't send the letter then they would kill me and for confirmation to email them to make absolutely sure I complied with their demands. Of course I did nothing of the sort. Instead of doing what they wanted I reported them to the website, sent copies of this deplorable guest review message to police officer cousins of mine so they could have it on file, and I went to a nearby police station and reported it.

When I spoke to the police officers and they checked everything on the message they saw, that while the address and names of business were accurate the people and their names were not. They agree it was more than likely a scam because of the email address on the bottom in order to perhaps get access to personal information or potentially hack my computer. Despite that I'm still very happy they took it seriously as I showed and told them everything. All the same I'm still very happy that I brought this to the attention of law enforcement. Even though the entire thing might be fake I'm still very happy to have brought this to the attention of those who can do something about it if it was legit in some way. This may have been a scam, but it's obvious these people are beyond irresponsible if they try to goad people into sending death threats to random strangers just to get access to info.

Be that as it may if this does unfortunately happen to you do not send any messages to the email addresses they put down and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you bring the message to the authorities immediately whether it is legit or not.

Because it's a guest review it might not be visible for a couple of days as it loads if it is sent to you. But when it does you should definitely pressing the report abuse button and send it to the email that leads to the support staff that is available.

Just a heads up to those of you who aren't aware of this yet, Email alerts for this website are now only active if Email opts is enabled in account settings.

I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D

For those of you just starting out with my stuff there are other works on my profile that may catch your interest. I highly recommend you take a look as soon as the opportunity presents itself to you. Who knows, you may be pleasantly surprised by what you discover.

Stay safe everyone. Especially with all of these crazy natural disasters occurring a lot lately due to global warming and climate change everywhere for sure. I swear it's like they're getting worse and worse all the time and it's like officials are simply just ignoring it or pretending it doesn't exist entirely just to go on with their daily lives. Especially those in multi-million dollar companies that rely on certain elements of our planet that we rely on to naturally keep us safe instead of adapting and finding new safer ways to keep in business. There are so many options out there where they can adapt, but they just refuse to see it because all they care about is money. Climate change is altering so much faster than anyone can really keep track of.

So, in light of all this, it is important to live life to the fullest as much as anyone can.

I know I am. ;) See you guys next time.
