"Don't run away, you coward!"

Every inch of his body was consumed by an intense, searing pain that felt as if he was being devoured by a raging fire. He struggled to maintain his posture, as the excruciating stab wound in his stomach made it almost impossible to stand up straight. His head was consumed by a feeling of numbness and dizziness, some sparks of electricity moving through his hair, making it difficult to think.

"Don't run away!"

His voice was hoarse, and his breaths were shallow. A hot sting in his eyes and wetness on his cheeks made it clear that he was crying, but he didn't care. He kept looking at the concrete streets, at the buildings, anywhere but at him. He refused to believe it- couldn't accept it!

"We've got ambushed-"

Tsuyu... Was she there? Or was she behind him? He saw him breathe. He lived, he breathed! He definitely saw it. His lungs felt like they were being pierced by a dozen tiny ice needles, but he didn't care. Nothing mattered at the moment except the fact that he was alive.

"-by you villains, attacking us students and yet we still won! We've fought in a battle where you had the advantage over us students!"

The hot sting in his eyes became unbearable, but he couldn't stop. The wetness on his cheeks turned into a torrential downpour, but he didn't care. His legs were trembling, but he refused to fall. Each word he screamed felt like knives stabbing his vocal cords, but he kept on shouting.

"That's right, us inexperienced kids!"

He felt a sudden wetness on his stomach, a suffocating warmth that he couldn't understand. Blood trickled down his legs, staining his white shirt and black pants.

"All of our limbs ache-"

His arms trembled with a growing exhaustion, and he balled his hands into tight fists.

"and we are all filled with fear, and despite that we kept on fighting!"

The pain was nothing, meaningless in the face of his anger.

"Don't run away, you bastard!"

More tears.

"You bastard!"

He closed his eyes to stop the flow of the tears.

"You coward!"

Tsuyu stood frozen, far behind Kaminari, her heart breaking as she watched him scream and shout with such anguish. Her body trembled with a mixture of fear and sorrow, and she longed to run to him, to comfort him, to stop him from shouting at nothing and nobody. And yet, and yet she remained, listening to his screams that were reverbing all over the USJ dome.

"Midoriya is way more amazing than you! He's stronger!"

His breaths came in ragged gasps, as though his lungs were filled with blood. Blood coated his mouth, and his left eye was useless, having been damaged beyond repair in his attempt to shield Tsuyu from harm. He was on his knees. He couldn't feel his lower body, but the searing pain from the stuffed hole in his stomach was a constant reminder of the damage that had been done. Yet, through it all, he strained to listen to every word being spoken.

"Midoriya didn't lose! He didn't let anyone die!"

Kaminari's heart was pounding so hard, he thought it would burst out of his chest. Tears streamed down his cheeks, mixing with the blood and sweat on his face. The pain in his body was excruciating, but he pushed it aside, fueled by an overwhelming surge of emotions.

"He fought to the end! He protected us to the end!"

His breaths came in short gasps, barely enough to sustain him. But he didn't care, he didn't need to. His mind was a jumbled mess of fear and anger, swirling around in a vortex of emotion. He couldn't feel the pain in his stomach anymore, but his limbs were shaking with more exhaustion.

"You're the one who lost! It's Midoriya who won!"

He gasped for air, his chest heaving with effort. Each breath felt like shards of glass scraping against his insides. He desperately gulped down another breath, and another, but it only made his lungs burn more fiercely.

"Huff… huff… huff… ugh… AAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHH-HURG-AAaaahhhhuuuaaah"

His breaths were coming in short gasps, his lungs on fire. He stumbled and fell to the ground, his fingers clawing at the rough concrete. He continued to let out a guttural scream that echoed through the USJ dome, tears streaming down his face. Tsuyu's eyes were red and puffy, tears falling uncontrollably as she watched Kaminari's breakdown.

"ka…mi-..na…"

Kaminari abruptly halted his screams and turned to look behind him-his mind raced as he recalled the monstrous creature they faced earlier-he saw Midoriya-the speed at which he moved was beyond human, and his expression, it was like nothing fazed him-the sight of Midoriya's smile momentarily stopped Kaminari's flood of tears.

Midoriya's fingers made a small gesture, beckoning Kaminari towards him. Kaminari's heart was racing as he struggled to move his legs. 'Come on, come on,' he thought to himself, his remaining tears still flowing. Finally, he managed to take a step forward, then another, then another, only to collapse onto his knees in front of Midoriya.

"ka…mi-..na…ri"

"They saw us," Kaminari's mind screamed. The hand-covered villain was staring right at them, and he couldn't move, couldn't breathe. His muscles felt heavy, like they were made of lead. He heard the villain say something, but couldn't make out the words. All he could do was stand there, frozen, as fear consumed him.

"m-y… quirk…"

His realization hit him like a ton of bricks, but it was too late. It was too late to react when the black villain appeared in front of them. He was too late to kick Midoriya from the fist, as well.

His consciousness was slipping away by the second. He couldn't feel his body anymore, as if it had become disconnected from his mind. Blood was everywhere, a pool forming around him. But he didn't care. It was worth it. Everything was worth it. Kaminari, Tsuyu, they were safe. He knew it was worth it.

He brought his blood-covered hands towards him, Kaminari's desperation and fear evident in his trembling voice.

"Mi-Midoriya, please, just rest. We'll get you help, you'll be okay," he pleaded, tears streaming down his face. His hand shook as he tried to stop Midoriya's bleeding.

But Midoriya shook his head, his blood-coated smile spreading warmth towards him.

Kaminari felt his heart racing, his arms shaking as he watched his friend's movements. No, no, no! This can't be happening!

As he knelt there, he tasted the grit of dirt and dust in his mouth, why was he tasting dirt and dust in his mouth?

Something slipped out of his mouth, leaving a trail of his salvia behind.

"yo-u… can…b…"

Midoriya's body sagged forward, his head hitting the ground with a sickening thud. Kaminari's hand trembled as he reached out to touch Midoriya's face, but pulled back at the last second, afraid of what he might feel. The sight of Midoriya's lifeless body stained the floor with a crimson pool of blood.

Kaminari stared ahead.

Tsuyu was standing there.

The teachers ran towards him. His classmates ran towards him.

And yet, and yet he could only see Midoriya smiling.
