The school day was finally over as it dragged, Riley had stayed away from Emmy as he was plotting his revenge on her. There was no way he was going to let this go. Emmy left the building to meet Alyssa. The young Halstead had grown very fond of her new nanny.

"Hey girl, how was school?" Alyssa asked.

"It was ok. Riley was picking on me but nothing I can't handle" Emmy replied, putting her seatbelt on.

"I think you should tell your brothers before this escalates. I don't want you to get hurt"

"I can handle it, if it was the only thing my dad taught me. How to fight back and I don't back down from a fight, I didn't today"

"I don't think that's the answer Em, even if you think it is. You should never ever resort to violence or stooping to his level. Did you tell your teacher?"

"No"

"I still think you should tell your brothers so they can handle this before something bad happens"

"I will, I promise"

"Whatcha want for a snack, Will said anything but sugar"

Emmy giggled. "Of course he did. Anything is fine, I'm not very picky"

"Any homework?"

"Not really, I finished all my work at school"

"More like you did your homework at school"

"How'd you know?"

"I use to do that too so when I got home I can do whatever I want"

"You got me there, I did do it at school. It wasn't that much"

"You're off the hook with homework as long as you look it over"

Emmy nodded. The two soon had arrived at the Halstead home and went inside, Alyssa had started on a snack for Emmy. The youngest Halstead sat at the table going over her homework reviewing it and preparing for a test she had the next day. As she was going over her work her phone started buzzing and dinging with notifications eventually she turned it over to see loads of messages and notifications frowning she pulled it up and saw that Riley had put something out about Emmy.

Emmy Halstead is nothing more than a narc; she had enough training for it from her detective brother. If you're not careful then she might use her "medical" training and kill you because like her brothers who killed people, she'll be like them and end up as a killer.

Anger was bubbling up inside her and tears stung in her eyes as she read all the text messages the kids sent her.

Narc

Murderer

Narc murderer

This one really had been a sucker punch to Emmy when she read this one name.

Orphan

After seeing that one message she felt like she could break her phone instead she stormed off to her room and slammed the door. It was bad enough her parents weren't around she didn't need to be reminded of it. Her mother was taken from her at only 5 years old, her father was a criminal that could have cared less if any of his kids lived or died.

Seeing that one message struck something inside of her making her miss her mother. She never gave a damn about her father but it made her miss and want her mother more than anything.

She laid in her bed with tears falling from her eyes onto the pillow. Alyssa heard the door slam and ran to Emmy's room. The young girl had locked the door wanting to be left alone.

"Em? Honey open up. What's wrong?" Alyssa called through the door.

"I don't wanna talk about it. Go away" Emmy called back.

Alyssa knew she wouldn't be able to get her to talk so she had left her alone. Emmy had stayed in her room and eventually cried herself to sleep. Around 7 that evening Alyssa had finished dinner for everyone and ate then cleaned up. Emmy still hadn't come out of her room.

Just as she finished in the kitchen Will and Jay had both entered the house after their long and brutal shifts. Jay had ended up in med to get a few stitches after getting busted open during a fight. The two brothers had seen the young woman but not their sister.

"Lyssa? Where's Emmy?" Jay asked.

"She's been locked in her room all afternoon, she hasn't come out since. I'm really worried" Alyssa told them.

Jay went up and just as he was about to break the door in, it opened and a half asleep Emmy had come out rubbing her eyes. "Jay? What are you doing?"

Without answering Jay dropped to his knees and pulled his sister in close, Emmy had allowed her brother to hug her as she held tightly to him. The tears returned to her eyes, for the first time that day she felt safe. She knew with her brothers around, nothing or no one could or would hurt her.
