21: God among us.

The fire shot up into the sky, the shock wave cleared the clouds for miles

The explosion was so powerful that it caused an earthquake to flood the area.

How Sinclair could fit such a powerful bomb inside the revivens took Daniel completely by surprise.

Cold wind shot from his mouth, quickly dousing the flames.

"That's it, when I find the guy who did this I'll smash his face in!" Tony looked at the huge crater where his mansion used to be.

Everything totally and completely destroyed, not even a speck of dust remained.

"Go on the bright side, if you want to make another mansion you won't have to dig for the basement…"

Of course Daniel forgot that his sense of humor was horrible, the look the genius was giving him was proof of that.

Tony snorted.

"That's where all the clues we had went, great…"

Daniel smiled, raised his hand which was tightly clenched into his fist.

"I wouldn't say everything" slowly he opened her palm showing it to Tony.

"it was a quick explosion but no more than me"

A piece of meat from one of the reanimen rested firmly in his palm.

.

.

.

"His strength from him is extraordinary" Fury looked at the images on the screen in amazement, whether it was speed, agility, strength, everything was amazing.

"extraordinarily worrying"

Daniel said as he watched the screens with him, the images had been recorded by Tony during their fight. with them they were able to properly observe the reanimen in action.

"Whoever created these things knew what they were doing, the cybernetics in them are decades ahead of anything else in the business." Although there were only images Tony could see it clearly.

"What could Jarvis analyze?" Fury asked, this new development was not something Fury was happy to see, he hated surprises like this, he had enough with the headache that the monsters were giving him and now he had someone creating super powerful Cyborgs and attacking one of Shield's allies.

"Not much, their insides seem to be protected against scanning technology, for that reason I couldn't see the bombs in their bodies" Tony was upset by this, if Jarvis had been able to scan them properly he could have done something to prevent them from exploding.

"Do we know who the unfortunate ones were who were turned into these things?" of course Daniel wanted a clue to start looking for Sinclair.

"The name of the sample you brought is Dean Stanfield, 21 years old robotics student at MIT" a new unknown voice came from behind him, turning Daniel saw a beautiful woman with crimson hair enter, dressed in a tight suit.

Fury stepped forward.

"I want to introduce you to my best agent, Natasha Romanoff, Codename Black Widow, will be working on this case" Daniel thought he heard some pride in Fury's voice?

"wao! wao! Fury if you had mentioned that you had such beautiful women in Shield you would have convinced me to help you sooner" Tony seemed excited and quickly stepped forward to say hello.

"Tony stark, better known as Iron man but you should know that by now" he even winked, Daniel had to use his extreme willpower not to laugh.

"I certainly know him Mr. Stark, his fame as a playboy and alcoholic eccentric has certainly spread throughout the world" Natasha smiled slightly and winked at him at the same time.

Tony's smile twisted.

Daniel decided to introduce himself.

"Defiant, Fury said you're working on this case?" Natasha looked at her outstretched hand for a moment before returning the gesture.

"Finding who did this will be my main task" Daniel thought deeply, certainly if what Fury said is true, the woman in front of him is the most logical choice to search for Sinclair's whereabouts.

To be the best Shield agent, you must be the best spy in the world, a real spy, Daniel couldn't help but be interested, what was it like to be a spy?

"I heard on the news that Dean Stanfield and one of his roommates had disappeared at the same time, if the other Cyborg is who I think he is then finding a suspect will be easier." Daniel didn't consider telling them that they would look directly for Sinclair.

Although Sinclair was dangerous, he now did not have the resources to be a threat that required his full attention.

He also wanted to see Shield's capabilities. if they could catch Sinclair without his help then he would be more certain of his alliance with them.

Daniel couldn't save everyone, he needed more people to join his cause and to know if they were suitable he needed to see his capabilities.

"I already have a suspect" Natasha spoke and began to project a screen in front of everyone with an image.

"This is D.A Sinclair, MIT robotics student, Dean and Jake's third roommate, before Dean and Jake's roommates disappeared, he presented a Cybernetic Enhancement project to the MIT scientific committee members seeking funding."

Looking at the image Daniel couldn't help but be amazed by the realistic face that greeted him, until now Sinclair had only appeared as a 2D image in his mind.

Now she could finally see him in the flesh.

"I'll guess, they rejected his project" Tony looked at the likely person responsible for the destruction of his house, keeping his face in his memory.

"A resounding rejection, too dangerous, invasive and quoting one of the members of the committee, inhuman beyond what is allowed" Natasha then displayed images of the project diagram presented by Sinclair.

Looking at the images, Tony's expression grew heavier.

"This guy, he has no ethics..."

"Whether he has it or not doesn't matter anymore, I kidnapped his classmates to illegally experiment on them to their deaths, I'd rather have him behind bars as quickly as possible." Daniel considered killing Sinclair.

But in the end he decided that this was not the way to go.

While Sinclair's methods were wrong, Daniel also considered the bigger picture, remembering that Cecil had used Sinclair's intellect to create weapons that could help humanity.

It wasn't something Daniel was willing to do, but he also knew it was something that might be necessary, future threats could corner the entire world and simply destroying Sinclair would take away humanity's chance of survival.

Daniel really wanted to be like those heroes in his previous life, always optimistic, always choosing the right thing and following his ideals until death.

But Daniel is also human. He knows that in reality the world is not black and white.

Sometimes doing the right thing is harder than it seems.

Sinclair might be wrong, having started out terribly, but he could also see the value in it.

Not in his person but in his genius.

But of course Daniel also had his bottom line. He might consider giving Sinclair a chance to atone for his mistakes when the time came, using his genius to help humanity if necessary.

But until that moment came, Sinclair would find himself spending his days cooped up without seeing the light of day.

And if he was in his hands that day he would never arrive, after all his goal was to save humanity, protect it and help it.

Unless he was unable to do so, Sinclair would have no chance to get out once he was captured.

He would make sure of it.

"Do we know where it is?" Tony's voice brought Daniel out of his thoughts, he began to pay attention to the situation in front of him again.

"No, he disappeared before you were attacked, since then nothing has been heard from him, but I have some clues that could lead me to him" Natasha smiled, her smile had an attractive confidence, Daniel decided to increase the value of the spies in his heart ten points

"If he has more of those Cyborgs it will be dangerous." Daniel didn't expect to have to give up the last emergency device he had made.

He pulled the small device from his belt and tossed it gently towards Natasha who caught it easily.

"If you find another Cyborg activate it, it doesn't matter where in the world you are I'll get to you" Natasha looked at the device and nodded.

"I'll keep it in mind"

Daniel nodded and looked at Tony.

"what will you do now?"

Tony looked at the picture of Sinclair thoughtfully before answering.

"I have some plans in New York, plus I want to help Shield improve his facial recognition system, I want this Sinclair captured as quickly as possible" Daniel agreed, he seemed like he could leave this matter in his hands.

"Speaking of help, there's something I need to talk to you about, Stark" Fury stepped forward, it seemed like it was time to talk to Tony about his father.

"Well I don't have a house to return to early so let's talk"

Tony and Fury left, Daniel took one last look at the data before deciding to leave too, there was a matter he had to resolve.

"I'll be in touch" I don't forget to say goodbye to Natasha who nodded.

Finding them was difficult, the only images of the accident were blurred, the car was stolen so the license plates were useless to help in the search.

Both had worn masks to cover their faces, the police had quickly lost track of them, and the car had been found days later abandoned in a vacant lot.

Daniel had had to go into every chamber, every search, investigate every witness, even going as far as checking the ground inch by inch in order to find them.

More than half a year since I came to this world but I had finally done it.

He didn't know what he was doing if he was honest with himself, besides finding justice for the original Daniel of this world he hadn't thought of anything else.

She took a deep breath, calmed his mind, strained her ears, made sure everything was clear, checked several times just to make sure.

Then I go down...

"Come on man, we have to finish unloading the merchandise before the boss arrives" a man in his 40s spoke, he looked at the truck full of cleaning products and couldn't help but sigh.

Until half a year ago he was a criminal, stealing was his daily bread.

Of course all that ended when that stupid superhero arrived, everything fell apart quickly, any common criminal was dispatched so brutally that if you did not have serious contacts or were part of a very large group it was better to enter an underground fighting ring than to continue committing crimes, at least you'd have less chance of breaking a bone.

He and his friend Carl were not members of any major gang nor did they have deep underworld connections.

They were mere thieves and of course that ended when the god himself seemed to come down from the heavens to kick the ass of every criminal in sight.

He and Carl had been cunning, always managing to escape no matter the situation, and clearly the flying guy who could lift buildings with his bare hands wasn't something to mess with.

So they both tried to leave behind all criminal life and got an honest job...

"Fuck my back hurts Tim, maybe we could get some rest" Carl grumbled, he wanted to go back to the old days, just steal something effortlessly and live the good life.

"Don't kid me, I don't want to get fired so get your lazy ass up and help me get these things down," Tim growled, Carl could have been his friend since grade school but he certainly was annoying sometimes.

It was then that he felt his vision blur, his feet seemed to leave the ground and his body flew dozens of meters hitting a wall with force, he felt his ribs crack.

"puaj!?" he spat saliva mixed with blood.

"f-fuck!" Carl landed right next to him, his leg bent at an odd angle.

"You know, I was wondering what it would feel like to look at them, at first I didn't think too much about it, I don't have their memories… I really tried to find them, I searched my brain so many times looking for something, anything, but there was nothing.

His voice was flat, extremely devoid of any emotion, it would be almost robotic if it didn't sound like a synthesized voice.

Tim looked up, walking slowly towards them was a figure that had struck fear and fear into every criminal in the world.

There were entire nights where he himself could not sleep since in his dreams his figure appeared in front of him to punish him for all his crimes.

His blood ran cold, his face paled, he blinked his eyes quickly praying that this was another one of those dreams and he could wake up soon.

"y-you!" He tried to back away but his back was already against the wall.

"Logically I shouldn't feel anything, without memories there should be no way for any emotion to be born inside of me, but somehow when I get here and just looking at them now makes my blood boil" he didn't even seem to look directly at them. , his eyes were dull, lacking any kind of light, his words made no sense to Tim.

"W-we haven't done anything!" Carl swallowed and said, his voice shaking with him.

"we're just normal workers!" Tim, in a desperate act I speak too.

This time his eyes looked at them, it was like looking into the abyss, Tim felt his pants get wet and his heart almost stopped beating.

His eyes didn't seem to be looking at something human, something alive, it was like he was looking at garbage, something that was just annoying to look at.

"I thought I'd just hand them over, I have enough evidence for them to spend their whole lives in prison, I should hand them over, let the police and the justice system do their job… but that would be too easy" Defiant stopped in front of them, bowed. slowly and look into their eyes.

"I swore to myself that I would be a better man, that I would protect this world and its people, but this feeling in my heart almost makes me want to burn everything to ashes." Defiant seemed to clench his hand to his chest, a pained expression fading. drew on his features, only now did Tim realize the hero was wearing no mask.

"This feeling is worse than when I came to this world… I had already lost them once but it didn't feel like a real loss you know? Deep down I've always known that they are out there, far away from me but still there"

Tim felt fear run through every part of his body, his instincts screamed at him, he had to get up, he had to run!

"but now I know what it feels like to have truly lost them…he didn't leave me his memories but he chose to leave behind something worse…I certainly am a wretch…"

Tim couldn't even try to run, Defiant's hand moved so fast that his brain couldn't process what happened until several seconds later.

He looked at his leg now torn from his body and a scream escaped him almost, almost, Defiant stopped this from happening by inserting his own foot into his mouth.

"I don't want to burn this world down, so you'll have to be strong, please hold on as long as you can, let me be selfish and rip every part of your body to pieces... so I can continue helping people with a smile on my face."

Defiant smiled slightly, his cold eyes sending chills to anyone who looked at them.

"Oh God!" Carl screamed in alarm trying to crawl away, run away, this was not a hero, he was a monster!

"no, today god is not here, only me"

Daniel never thought he'd say this but it really seemed like he needed to go to therapy, get a psychologist or something.

Things weren't supposed to end this way, but of course things can't be easy for him.

When he came before them he simply couldn't control his feelings, more exactly the feelings of the original Daniel of this world.

It was a mistake on his part, he thought that the Daniel of this world had left without a trace of him.

He was wrong.

He should have let the police arrest them, doing it himself had simply been a mistake.

Cleaning the bodies had been easy, he was sure to destroy any trace, there were no witnesses, no cameras.

To the world it would seem that two people simply ceased to exist at any moment and no one could find anything.

But that didn't make him forget everything he did to them, now that his mind had calmed and his thoughts cleared he could realize that perhaps he had overreacted.

A large part of him wanted to throw up and another part that he suspected he wasn't quite his seemed barely satisfied.

"If you were going to leave me your feelings you could have also left your memories, idiot" after cursing himself he decided to look for a psychologist.

Something like this should never happen again.

Now where do you find a psychologist decent enough and trustworthy enough to give therapy to a superhero?

rikers island correctional facility new york

Harleen Quinzel couldn't help but sneeze, she wiped her nose with a handkerchief and threw it in the garbage can.

She looked at her new office and decided that she would have to vacuum the place again.

There was too much dust.

She looked at the sun coming through the window and she couldn't help but sigh with emotion.

It had been difficult but she had finally achieved it, although taking care of normal patients wasn't bad, she always knew what she really wanted to do.

She wanted to make a difference, and what better way to do that than to help criminals rehabilitate properly.

Getting to rikers had been a challenge but as one of the best of hers in her field it wasn't impossible, doing it at her age certainly raised a few eyebrows but she didn't care.

Even if she was young she had enough track record in her career to shut any mouth.

I accommodate her things in her new office, her work called.

"You can not do this!" in an office at the top of a large skyscraper.

Lena Luthor looked at her brother with fury and disbelief.

"But dear sister, I've already done it" Alexander Luthor looked at her sister with a confident smile, stood up and walked to the large window looking at the city.

"I don't understand your anger Lena, I clearly remember your contempt for the company, I just did what I thought you wanted" Lena gritted her teeth.

"You know that's not true, I didn't despise the company! I despised whoever ran it!"

Lex snorted.

"And now that our father is dead, do you think you can come and do whatever you want? Don't be naive Lena" Lex looked at her with a cold face.

Lena clenched her fists.

"I'm still part of the board, my actions are no less than yours!" I reply.

"And that's why you're not on the street, you should thank me for letting you that old plant is more than many people have" Lex walked towards his sister, with that contemptuous smile that seemed to tell him that she was talking to a fool.

"You always said that you didn't want to be part of what our father did, I just fulfilled your dream now you can do whatever you want in smallville"

Lena swallowed, her eyebrows furrowed but her words didn't come out of her mouth.

She knew that this talk was useless, when she realized that Lex had displaced her and convinced all the shareholders to push her aside it was already too late.

Even so, deep down she hoped that her brother had some goodness inside of her, that he would continue to be that older brother of hers who took care of her when she was a child.

Now it seemed that Lionel Luthor had not died alone.

Swallowing her bitterness, she turned around and started to leave.

She'd been too naive, too trusting, all those years in boarding school she'd kept from seeing what her father had turned her brother into.

She shouldn't have walked away from him, she shouldn't have focused so much on her college studies.

She should have started participating in the company from the moment she got out of that boarding school.

But now it was too late.

But she wouldn't let it end like this, if Lex thought that banishing her to an old factory in the middle of nowhere would end her then she was wrong.

She would show him.

Note

I got the whole thing about MIT out of my ass, I don't know how it actually works so forgive me if anyone here actually knows how it works and got a headache from that part.

Daniel has decided to trust and test his allies.

Now Black Widow must find Sinclair before more revives are created.

For his part, Fury has decided to talk to Tony about his father.

On the other hand Daniel has accidentally fallen into the path of revenge, it seems that the "original" Daniel did not leave without leaving something behind.

Now Daniel must consider solving his problems in order to continue aspiring to be the hero he desires.

On the other hand, there is a psychologist who does not expect his arrival, is this good or bad? Some say you shouldn't mess with crazy, but no one said anything about doing it before it's crazy?

On the other hand, the luthors make an appearance, Lex has excluded her sister and exiled her.

Will Lena sit idly by? Of course not.

Dear readers, please comment what you think, give me your opinions, I am always happy to read comments and answer them.

On the other hand, I have been laying the foundations for the introduction of many arcs and characters, do you think I should continue like this or focus on the characters already presented before introducing others?

Or maybe do both at the same time?

For readers in Spanish, I want to apologize for the grammatical errors in the chapters, I really thought I edited correctly but it seems I made a mistake, I trusted word's autocorrect too much and that messed up some words.

I'll fix it when I have time, hopefully soon.

Finally, does it bother you that I leave so many notes? I like to leave notes to get reader-writer interaction but one person told me that having to read the notes affects the pace of reading so he skips them.

Give me your opinions on this, leave your reviews too, I've never suggested it now that I think about it but I think it would help this story reach more people, leave your favorites if you want too.
