"Did you hear that Purple struck again? He apparently got Suzunami's dad..."

"I thought Purple was some black widow?"

"Really? Huh…"

The classroom was set ablaze with anxious and loose-lipped discussions of the most recent murder that had taken the life of one of their classmate's fathers. Her mother was long dead by the time this event happened.

She was now an orphan.

A set of annoyed footsteps tapped into the classroom and stopped, gaining the attention of all her classmates in an instant.

"Alright, that's enough talk about Purple. I don't want to hear another word about this. All I want is for us to respect her father's passing and her time away for mourning."

Said Hikari, her voice full of authority.

The room fell silent, understanding and obeying Hikari's authority without question. But Shinji didn't care. He wasn't doing anything to warrant her wraith. He simply sat in silence as he kept thinking over and over about his latest victim.

"He deserved it. He deserved it. He deserved it."

He was angry, And every time he got angry like this, he yearned for more. But when he wasn't able to, he was in pain. His head slowly began to pound as he kept thinking about it.

He wanted to dash out and slaughter more disgusting swine, but he had to stay.

And he had to think of something else.

Fast.

Switching his train of thought quickly, he turned back to watch the classroom, with class having already begun. He opened up his laptop and entered the classroom assignment chatroom.

Slowly, his mind wandered over to Asuka, who was glancing over to him. She held no malice on her face, Just a look of curiosity.

Was she studying him?

What did she know?

Did she know?

Staring back, she suddenly took notice and looked away and back at her own laptop. A slight bit of annoyance was on her face, but not much was shown.

Whatever she was thinking, Shinji didn't like it. She was just a thing on the side, not worth his full attention most of the time.

If she became a threat, however…

He'd give her the attention she craved so much.

He must've been staring too long because Asuka turned back to face him with an annoyed look, not that he cared too much.

The teacher prattled on about the same topic that he spouted every day, something about the Second Impact that Shinji already knew more about than him. Even before the thoughts came into his mind, he didn't pay attention to this part of the lecture.

If he really thought about it, he sometimes thinks that the professor had some sort of dementia or something. Mr Takazaki was nice and all, but he was kind of annoying. His mind began to wander back to more normal thoughts, with the adrenaline wearing off and his instability stabilizing.

Soon the guilt settled in, as this was someone he knew. Someone he had indirectly hurt.

Now that the anger and hatred went away and he returned to a normal teenage mind, his anxiety returned.

This was like a part of him that became more and more frequent. A fractured mind that soon crept more into his normal state of mind. He didn't like it at all but this impulse kept convincing him to do so. And this impulse was a part of him. It was always there, just simply repressed.

Ever since his first battle with an angel, he had this anger within him. And this anger was at his father. He was furious with him. He was angry at the fact he used Rei to make him a pilot. He was angry at the lack of communication between them.

And he was enraged at the fact that he abandoned him.

Abandoned over his dead mother.

Anger and vitriol swelled back up inside him as he began to think about it again.

Suddenly the bell rang and he quickly ripped out of his own private thoughts. Hikari ordered the class to rise and bow, which everyone complied with before gathering their stuff.

As he gathered his things and closed his laptop, Asuka walked over, placed her hands firmly on his desk, and huffed.

"You forgot to make my lunch and dinner."

She glared at him, expecting him to cave in and apologize quickly, but to her great surprise…

He didn't.

He simply stared at her for a brief moment before going back to packing his items.

She was shocked, quickly showing it on her face before going back to an even more annoyed look. As he was about to get up, she quickly pushed him back down into his seat and scowled.

"Don't you ignore me! Sit down and say something! Apologize damnit!"

Staring directly at her, he simply said nothing before getting back up and brushing past her.

Even more stunned, she grabbed his shoulder and swung him around to face her, rage beaming at him.

"SAY SOMETHING-"

SLAP!

A red handprint formed on Asuka's face as he struck her, causing her to stumble backwards and fall onto a desk.

Fear quickly showed on her face as she watched on in horror, as did every other student within the now eerily quiet classroom.

"Y-y-you hit me…"

Tears welled up within her eyes as she never expected him to ever do this. She had always seen him as some scrawny and pushover guy, that he would never even lay a finger on her…

Shinji raised his hand again and swung at Asuka.

CRACK-

"You forgot to make my lunch and dinner."

"I-I-I'm sorry Asuka, I'll buy you lunch today…"

He had suddenly snapped out of his deranged fantasy and was once again grounded back into reality. His anger turned into fear and submission as he slunk into his seat.

"Hmph- I guess I'll accept that. Just don't forget it next time!"

Huffed Asuka before turning back and going to get her stuff. Collecting her belongings, she stormed out of the classroom, nearly knocking several students over.

He stared at where she once was before going to pack up his stuff and head out.

"Bitch."
